So i am gonna buy a new case, motherboard and CPU for Christmas, but i haven't decided on what CPU i want to get. I will mostly be doing gaming and my budget for the cpu is under 350. I was gonna get a i7-8700k but i dont know what to get. Btw these are my specs. 16GB Vengence LPX 3000, Zotac GTX 1060 6GB, and a NZXT s340 and the motherboard depends on what cpu im getting. Thank You

Just for gaming? I have the ryzen 1700 and it's more than enough, you could get the 2700 which is kinda the same, only difference is the frequency.

 

that case sucks btw, in terms of airflow and temps.

Well the CPU you get will determine what motherboard you get, and the motherboard will change in price depending on the CPU, so... What's your budget for a CPU/mobo?

The 8700k is a solid choice, get it with a Z370 FTW if you want to save a little and the Classified K if you want to go all out. 

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

 

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

One of my past builds was in an nzxt s340 and temps were totally fine, though I did have a massive noctua cooler on it.

The ryzen stock cooler is okayish if you're not looking to overclock beyond turbo frequency, otherwise a mid tier air cooler will do

If you just game get an 8600k its around 350 USD and is way better than ryzen for gaming

 PC: A10 6700, 8gb DDR3 1600mhz, GTX 1050ti, 1TB HDD and Prebuilt motherboard, case, power supply & cooler

Laptop (Asus Vivovook X510UA): i5 8250u 8gb DDR4 2400mhz 256gb SSD

Ok... Well if you want you can stretch an 8700K. an 8600K/9600K is plenty for just gaming though. For Ryzen, an R5 2600 and a good cooler for overclocking will also yield good results.
