Using 3/4 RAM Slots - Any issues?

Afternoon,

I currently have this kit installed on my motherboard. This kit is 2x 4GB DDR4 2400MHz (8GB total). The motherboard has 4 ram slots. I went and bought another 4GB of identical RAM because i found a stick at a good price locally (same MHz and same memory timings).

What are the cons of using 3/4 of your motherboard ram slots? I know that the memory won't run in dual channel anymore but beyond that, is there any other issues that I could potentially run into with this config?

What performance hit would not running in dual channel have for me? I eventually plan on filling the 4th ram slot with more identical ram.

tldr; just bought 3rd identical ram stick, wanna know if there's any problems with using 3/4 ram slots (3x 4gb ddr4, 12gb ddr4 total)

I run 2x2GB and a 4GB together all the time, it works for me, so I don't think you'll have any problems.

In fact, I'll give you where I got it. I took this from anand tech, and trimmed it a bit to get it to fit here. Thanks!
