My friend got a QN8G es CPU 3.2hrz he installed it in his asus maximus formula 9 motherboard and it's not booting no power or anything just the mobos lights turn on and stay on but they will come on even with no cpu he put his old cpu back into the motherboard it worked perfectly please help.

Might be a dead CPU or wrong chipset. Could even be shipping damage. Either way you can't use it so get a refund (if possible).

It's 100 percent the right chipset I checked you think it's dead ?

Yep. 

Seeing as the other CPU works fine in the motherboard I'm pretty sure the CPU is dead.

It's 100% the wrong chipset.

The QN8G is an 8000 series CPU and the motherboard you have is for 7th and 6th generation CPUs and NOT compatible with 8th gen CPUs

300 series Intel chipset boards will work just fine.

Thanks for clearing that up! :) 

I misread the chipset when I was looking at the mobo specs.
