CPU OC question

Go to solution Solved by Fasauceome,

The Z370 F has some beefy VRM heat sinks, so I doubt it's necessary. Also, GamersNexus tested VRM cooling both with and without activw cooling, and found no real difference, so since 5GHz isn't really an extreme overclock for coffee lake, I don't think that would be necessary.

Do i need a 40x40mm or 50x50mm fan on my ASUS Z370-F MB to cool the VMS when i am overclocking my cpu to 5ghz  while its delidded?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Does it come with that little bracket for a fan too? Just went through the manual for my board and realized what it was for. Guess that's the issue with lo/mid range boards, nothing but passive compared to active or block options.

Yeah i thought the same, but just saw i had the braket and thought i might need that but it already has some airflow about the heatsinks and they are beefy
