Roccat announced an optical version of the kone xtd mouse recently at CES. My question is this; which version will be the better one to get, laser or optical, and why? Is it more of a personal preference thing? Also, if you've used any roccat products before can you tell me if they are good quality or not?

Whatever you prefer. I personally notice zero difference between laser and optical mice. Once I get them dialed in they perform just how I like them to. I think modern laser mice are fine for fast twitch games but still have that old stigma. I have auditioned 2 Roccat mice and liked them a lot however I found one a bit to small for my hand and I also auditioned the xtd and did like it but I ended up going with a mouse that had an extra button. Build quality seemed top notch to me and the software was fairly intuitive in my opinion.

You didn't have any problems with jitter or acceleration did you? Would both work normally on an aluminum mouse mat?

No but I am no pro with fps games. I do play cs go, bf4 and do very well. Like I said I have used both types of mice and for me its really about getting them dialed in which can take a while. Also I find that optical mice perform better on shitty soft mouse mats while laser mice performance best on hard mats with fast surfaces but that's just me.

Been using my Kone XTD for a few months now, no issue whatsoever........this is the very first Roccat peripheral I own actually. Thus far, I'm impressed with it, fits my hand comfortably and the mouse is quite responsive and accurate. I didn't know Roccat is going to release an optical version of it.....hmmm, might just grab it when it's released.
