Hi!

I need your help picking new CPU. Now I have AMD Athlon II x455 and want to change to AMD Phenom II x6 1045t.

My specs:

AM3 socket MB;

AMD Radeon 7770;

Corsair 8Gb;

600W PSU;

I don't want to change anything else because of my current budget. Is it a good idea or better wait and get full FX system (new MB, AMD FX CPU, RAM)?

Thanks for your replies!

yes. just save up as much as possible and get migrate to the FX system because the x6 is just as old. plus when you upgrade the whole system there is much more head room for upgrading later. if you just upgrade the CPU now you will have to upgrade something else later on and it goes on. do upgrades in one big chunks. that saves a lot of money.

get a good motherboard with some features that you can use not just right now but also a year or two down the road when you are going to upgrade your graphics card or maybe do Crossfire. also get something like a FX-6300 or higher with a proper overclocking motherboard and crack that up to the max and you will not have to upgrade your CPU for at least another 2-3 years or more.

so juts wait and save up, sell what you will not be carrying to your next build. you can keep the PSU and the RAM for sure. and even the GPU is fine. but that is some thing you can upgrade later on.

hope this helps.
