Gmod with SLI

I just got an used 670 in the mail today, and smacked it in with my other 670. Ran some games like BF4 and Crysis 2, at it looks freaking awesome BUT. Yes there is a but.

 

When i'm running Gmod, my top GPU reaches 80 c and the fan is going nuts, while the bottom card is around 40c. The cards are not the same. Top one is evga stock cooler, while bottom is asus direct cuii. Anyone know why i get these mad temps?

Because, you sandwiched the cards together. If you have space on your motherbaord, spread the cards apart. Allow for them to suck in some cooler air

Top one will always be warmer, but that is quite a freaky difference Maybe try changing them around?

I thought of that, but the asus sags pretty badly, and i'm afraid it will touch the bottom cards PCB and short it out, since the direct cuii frame is metal.

Try swaping the postions.....

The top card will run relatively hotter than the bottom card as it is sucking in hot exhaust from the bottom one!

yeah th asus one will run cooler

Put something non conductive between the 2 cards, also if they sag a lot, use one of those gpu holders.
That's if you decide to swap the around, which I highly recommend.

Yea, good idea but the non conductive material will properly interfere with the top cards fans. Guess i could try it out

Also some games aren't optimised to use both gpus

I've switched the cards around and put some closed cell foam in between the cards at the very end of them. This should be enough to avoid any shortage. Temp wise, it's quite better, but now my asus is running ass hot.
