What exactly do you mean by won't cooperate? It won't sleep when the computer does? The monitor sleep too early? Your not being very descriptive.

If the monitor sleeps before the computer, trying adjusting its settings (buttons on monitor). If the computer sleeps before the monitor, don't worry too much about it. Some monitors don't sync sleep settings with the PC and that can be your issue (try just updating the computer and restarting it. That can sometimes fix it. Finally, if it really annoys you, just turn off the monitor with the power button.

Not a big deal then. Older monitors especially don't all sync with the computer. If it's doing some harm, jut turn the monitor off when you're done using it.
