External HDD showing in device manager and not in Disk Mngmt

I have a Seagate Backup Plus 1 TB external hdd. When my friend returned it to me it wasn't showing up in explorer.

The hdd is recognized by device manager but not showing up in disk management.
It is beeping when i plug it in. 2 beeps pause 2 beeps pause.... for a minute or so and then a single beep and beeping stops.
Tried seagate tools but the repair's failed.
Is there any way to recover those files?
Any help would be appreciated.

Got a question for ya.

  • Is it a portable drive plugged into an unpowered hub? Porta drives need the full DC power to spin up the motor inside. I've seen drives do what you're describing when they don't have enough dc power to spin the drive.

used to work fine in the same hub, this started happening suddenly.

Hmm. Seems like one of the drive's internal components has died (sounds like the motor). In this case, not much more you can do here bar getting the drive professionally recovered.
