First DIY build

Hi! As my main computer is getting kinda old, I thought of building a new one. I hadn't done it before, so I did some research on my own, consult some friends, etc, and now I want to ask you for your advice :)

The project looks a bit like this:

1. Budget & Location

I'm planning to spend 1000€ (EU), plus an extra 500 to dump in the PSU, case and MoBo.

As per the location, I would be buying the parts in Spain, but I don't mind price discrepancies, every bit of help is appreciated :)

2. Aim

The biggest load would come from gaming... I want to play the latest games at 1080p with decent fps.

I'll use it for programming for my job too, but that isn't too taxing for the system haha.

3. Monitors

One is more than enough. I already have it.

4. Peripherals

I already have them and I don't mind spending over the limit.

5. Why are you upgrading?

I want to have some wiggle room to upgrade to save some money now and extend the lifespan of my pc

I already chose some parts, but I would like your input on these:

The actual case would be this one: Corsair carbide series SPEC-ALPHA

Thanks in advance ^^

RIP night theme, please use autoformating. Have you considered an R7 1700? Going ryzen and selecting a lower tier mobo will allow you to get a beefier graphics card which will dramatically improve performance.

Quote or tag if you want me to answer! PM me if you are in a real hurry!

You can save quite a bit if you do the following (you can pick and choose which steps to do if you already or do not have some of these parts):

  • Replace i7 with ryzen 5 1600 (I will explain why later)
  • Replace power supply with something MUCH cheaper (no need for 1060, you cant even SLI. a decent 550w would do you well)
  • Replace motherboard again even if you dont get ryzen chip, more expensive motherboards are not worth it, especially since you are not even getting a k series i7
  • Replace single stick of 16gb with two 8gb sticks, because both its cheaper and will theoretically perform better

Reasoning for all this: Change 1060 with 1070 after you do these changes for overall better gaming performance per dollar. Also, ryzen chip will last longer in the long run

Storage is really your choice, you could get a single 2tb and a 240gb boot drive.
