Triple Monitor Gaming

FR4MEZE7

Hello! I have a gtx 1070 STRIX and want to have triple monitor to game with. And the big question is... Should I get thee 1440 monitor with 60hz. Or should I get there 1080 monitor with 144hz?

REMEMBER IT IS FOR 3 MONITORS IN GAMING

it depends on whether you want higher resolution or higher framerate if you want better reaction speeds then every one else go frame rate if you just want things to look shiny go resolution though yeah 3 monitors for gaming isn't great in my opinion i tried it once and ended up still using 3 monitors but keeping the game on my middle screen and having videos and build guides on my other screens

I'm not sure a single 1070 will be able to push either of those setups at those framerates you're after.

A single 1070 is great to push one 144hz monitor and keep the fps above 100 in many games. It can also do 60 at 1440p much of the time. But triple that? Not sure there's enough horsepower.

Three monitor gaming in a word: Pointless. I would never go above dual and even then I'd only game on 1 the other would be my multipurpose screen, e.g. browser, youtube, netflix or something to help me in game like a boss guide.

If you are talking about running a game across 3 monitors then you are going to have a few issues:

Gpu horsepower - 1 1070 to 3 1440p monitors at 60 fps? That'll be tough.

Bezel - Nothing detracts from the experience more than your game being sliced in to clear chunks by 2 bezels each time (remember 2 because there is end of one monitor and start of another), even on super slim monitors thats a few cm of gap which would ruin it for me.

My advice is to get a nice large curved monitor for your larger gaming experience (not as large as 3 monitors I know but at least it'll run fine at high fps and not be visibly divided),

Couldn't agree more @tom_w141

The reason people might choose triple screen setups I guess is because of better peripheral vision. Bezels aren't as much of an issue when using a triple setup instead of dual. That, and the fact that you have wonderful multitasking when not gaming.

But lately Ultrawides (curved or not) have been becoming more and more accessible and feature packed. Not as wide as a triple screen setup, but still pretty wide. And your 1070 will have a much easier task running such a screen with high numbers.

Personally I always eyed triple setups mostly for my racing sims.... But then I figured I would never be able to run them at high performance unless I pay a fortune in a multi-GPU setup. Now I've stuck with an Ultrawide + a smaller 16:9 monitor for multitasking.

Thank you for putting it out straight to me guys, but I will still go with triple monitor because I really do like it and have tried it. The only thing I want to know is what would feel better, if smoothness or quality is better, what would you guys have chosen between the 2 different monitors I mentioned and why? :)

Personally I'm a high FPS guy. Ever since I tried above 120hz with strobbing/ULMB settings I simply couldn't go back. But that means sometimes I have to sacrifice visuals. Other people are perfectly content with anything above 50hz and prefer to be able to max out graphic settings at all times.

I've been using triple 1080 for years. Ultra wides have always been lacking. They are becoming more common now but still have a way to go. I'd want one.

Power is gonna play a big factor with 1440. Doubt you will enjoy it on a single 1070/80.
