The Range on the nighthawk is pretty lame in my personal experience. Never tried the ASUS, but I'm pretty disappointed in the Nighthawk

I'm pretty happy with my Nighthawk R7000. Works well with no hiccups. Had to do a reset once on it a week ago to get it to stop dropping internet (owned since March-ish) and so far no more problems.
