First Generation GTX Titan Performance. OC Potiental?

So couple of weeks ago my older brother upgraded GPUs and gave me his old GPU this GTX Titan 6GB. So far I tested, Doom 2016, Gears of War 4, Forza 6 Apex, and Halo 5 Forge and run pretty much everything either at Ultra, High or a mix of the two.

Since I have no plans to upgrade over 1080p for gaming. I figured this GPU has me set for at least another two years correct? Also I never had vram over 2GB before so being able to crank everything up is awesome.

I guess I play at 1440p using DSR if I wanted to as well but I havnt tested that performance yet.

How much could I overclock this GTX Titan you think?

It all depends on your thermals and every card is different so you wont know till you try.

If you can keep the temp down then try use Skyn3t BIOS for the original Titan for that extra performance or e-penis.

well I have the 980 ti (same chip) see as yourself :

+160 core +450 memory (+87mv but I'm not sure the same applies to titan)

I play 80-100 fps on 1440p DSR and 144fps on 1080p shooters

-snip-

though if you OC a lot a cooling solution may be useful (AIO exists for this model)

Not the same chip, Titan 6GB = Kepler GK110 and 980 Ti  = Maxwell

You should get a full cover block for it with the skynet bios and it will be a beast of a card.  Water blocks can be picked y up cheap now as well and 780 blocks fit too. 780ti and titan back blocks won't fit.

To give you an idea of how good these cards are there was one at the top of the valley sheet for nearly 2 years beating titan blacks,  780ti and was only beaten by a 980 classified.

Had two of them for years. Started using just one for black ops 3 as its a crappy game. Great performance for 1080. You will need to flash the bios. Fans draw a lot of the cards power from the core. Should have room to play thermal wise.

If if you were to water cool the 780ti and Titan black blocks will fit with a slight 5 second mod. All 5 of my titans have custom bios and 3 are on water(Titan blacks).

I was not planning to water cool at all. Mainly because this GTX Titan has the ACX cooler on it already. I do have a custom bios I think its the HWBot Engineering BIOS and so far I like it but guess I can try the skynet version.

Which bios should I try? I am using the HWBOt Engineering Bios and the other person said to use the skynet bios. Like I said to the other person I am not interested in water cooling at all since my Titan already has the ACX cooler already so I know I can overclock already just got to fiddle with it

Don't think I used a premade one. If I did it just have the power and fan unlocked. I wanted to keep gpu boost instead of hard clocking. I may still have the one I used. I'll have to check.

Yeah I was thinking the same way by keeping the gpu boost. Found my bios from here http://www.overclock.net/t/1363440/official-nvidia-geforce-gtx-titan-owners-club

The 970 matches a 780Ti due to driver screw-ups nowadays. :P Kinda sucks really.

That's a synthetic benchmark. Congrats, the score is higher in a thing that brings no entertainment other than the thing at the very end... and the ending is a plastered screenshot of numbers and letters! Hooray! :P

My old titan beat a 970 ssc in games, being 5760x1080. My titan blacks are 1000 points overall behind 980sc's on firestrike. The 900 series was such a big waste for me. My 1080 strix wasn't much better but it was an improvement. Everyone likes what they like. I prefer gameplay over everything not "numbers".

Why would I sell the games I purchase?

There eventually comes a point where you realize that if you invest all your gaming in cloud services, like Steam or Origin, that you will inevitably forgo your ability to sell those games. Besides, how often did most people ACTUALLY sell their games back in the day, when it was a physical item, like a CD? Not many. :P Your argument is dumb. Also, the original Titan was a thousand dollars at launch. It may have dropped in price since then, but saying you built a $2000 PC wasn't too far off from my estimations if you factored in the comments about the Titan earlier. I assumed. Sue me. <3
