Registering MSI card

Rainbrew

So I've installed my gtx 1060 and want to register the product however I'm having an issue as I need to input the S/N 2 to register it for warranty. All of the photos on the site show that it's on the pcb however I have a backplate on. Does that mean I have to unscrew it to access the s/n 2? Thanks in advance!

It is but there needs to also be a second one and the only places shown on the pcitures are on the pcb directly, which would make no sense whatsoever.

Especially since the other location is next to the sli part (which the gtx 1060 does not have) and no other serial codes are present on the blackplate other than the first serial number

What card do you have? 1060 Gaming X? Also from what I've found people needed to download msi help desk software, to get the code. I'm unsure, msi being difficult i guess... Try that and get back to me.

The system info tab on helpdesk does not show the serial number. Had to go around the fact that I couldnt find a helpdesk for non-laptops by downloading one for some laptop but I doubt that caused the info to not appear. I'd really prefer not to have to remove backplate as I've already installed the card and the case I'm using makes installing it very difficult and yes it's the gaming X.

At this point your best bet is to directly contact msi. If you are confident in taking off the backplate and taking a look, go for it as it usually isn't too difficult. (I have not had experience with msi backplates, but have removed other brands with ease. ex. EVGA) But again I'd recommend just contacting them.
