Migrating from One SSD to Another

So with my current SSD at 256GB nearly getting full I'm planning to upgrade it to a 480 or 500GB one.  How do I migrate the OS along with all the programs and everything I have on the old SSD to the new one?  I know this should seem simple but I've never done it before and I want to check before I screw something up and lose data/program licenses.  Thanks.

i think you can't but i'm not sure

You'll need software that will migrate all of the partitions and stuff

You can find great guides via google/youtube search, here is my (Simplified) experience:

 

Got new drive, hook it up, check it out in disk management

Got EaseUS Todo Backup, made sure drive got recognized

Copied all partitions of my C drive to the new drive, took not too long

Try to boot off new SSD

If successful, reformat the old drive fro future use (optional)

Thanks.  You would format the new SSD in disk management first before migrating right so that Windows recognized it right?  Also I'm looking at the EaseUS Todo Backup option is there any reason to get the paid versions?  It looks like for my use (just keeping the OS, programs/licenses, system settings) the free version should suffice.

I would format it maybe, but it will be overwritten once you copy with EaseUS Todo to it.
