Building computer with 2080Super

Hi,

I have never built a computer before, but now I have to.

 

These are the pieces for it, what do you think?

 

CPU AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor

CPU Cooler Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

Motherboard  MSI MPG X570 GAMING PLUS, ATX (This is a part of a bundle)

Memory Corsair 16GB (2 x 8GB) Vengeance LPX, DDR4 3200MHz, CL16, 1.35V (Same as above, bundle)

Storage Kingston 1TB A2000 NVMe PCIe SSD, M.2 2280, 2200/2000 MB/s or Western Digital 1TB WD Blue SN550 NVMe SSD, M.2 2280, 2400/1950 MB/s (not sure about these)

Video card KFA2 GeForce RTX 2070 Super EX Gamer (1-Click OC) -näytönohjain, 8GB GDDR6 (not sure about this one)

Case Fractal Design Meshify C White

Power Supply Corsair 650W RM650x (2018), Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply, 80 Plus Gold

 

What do you think?
Is there some better parts?

Hyper 212 Evo is not a good cooler for this chip. Under custom loop myself with my 3700x at full stock settings with PBO enabled I am hitting into the 80s during Aida stress tests.

Hi, can you suggest me a better cooler for this one?

Hyper was suggested to me by a computer selling company.
Then one person in tech forum suggested : 
ARCTIC Freezer 34 or Alpenföhn Brocken ECO Advanced or SilentiumPC Fortis 3 HE1425 v2.

this should be in New Builds and Planning.

 

pretty good build, the MSI MPG x570 is not a very good mobo. Change to a MAX b450 so you dont need the BIOS update, or get an ASUS or Gigabyte x570, theyre much better. get the kingston. GPU is fine. case is up to you, make sure you know which drive bays you can and cant use. also get a HDD. 1TB goes pretty quick.

stuff is cool. stuff that has fancy lighting is cooler. stuff that has fancy lighting and works is the coolest.

 

i game so i know a bit abt gaming tech, not much abt professional tech.

 

writing this as i finish a 3 hour D2 sesh so excuse anything wrong.

im gonna do a build in a few months too and im also using the 3700x. it comes with the Wraith which most say is pretty good, plsu im not planning on any OCing at all. do i need a better cooler?

If I go with MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX, ATX , how is the updatig my computer in future looking like?

(Or should I go with some other B450 MAX?)

 

How bout Gigabyte X570 GAMING X, ATX?

Is there a point choosing X570 over B450?

This old granpa has 1TB HDD and not even close to half used so I think 1TB SSD should be enough.

Is there a point to have two SSDs if possible, or should it always be SSD + HDD?

For the Power Supply, should I stay at 650W or go 750W?

I was told that ASUS Video Card would have good fans?

Asus GeForce RTX 2070 Super Dual OC EVO, 8GB GDDR6.

Is this better than KFA2?
Are the fans actually better? 2 vs 3

SSD s are considered better and more expensive than HDDs becasue, they're well, faster.

 

seriously though? i only have a couple of games (17) and im nearing empty on my 1tbhdd, soooo

 

also most people run a ssd + hdd becasue they use the smaller ssd (usuallly a 500gb or 1tb one) for windows and things that they really want to boot quick. they use the HDD for storing files/games/vidoes? which have a loading time that most people are fine with, though it would be faster on an SSD though much more expensive.

How to make a decicion Intel vs AMD?
The price tag is abit more with Intel, but it does not matter so much.

 

I have read and heard from people that AMD has had some issues and few of my friends have told that they are Intel+Nvidia fanboys.

Yeah ignore the fanboys. The best value for money cpu is with AMD. Sames goes for gpu if you are considering a mid range card. The 5700XT is usually $100 or so cheaper than the 2070S. Not quite as fast, but it is better value from a price/performance point of view.

 

You will be fine with a 650W psu in any case.

So, 

my thoughts about building a new and first computer has changed alot!

 

My plan is to stick with Intel.

I will wait for the new Intel i9-10900K.

 

I am now unsure if I go with 2080Super

(it is alot better than my old 660)

or if I wait for the new 30XX.

 

I had planned to go 2070Super before.

and my display was going to be Asus TUF VG27AQ 27”.

Now, if I go with 2080S, is the display too ”easy” for it?

I have also dreamed about 34-35” 1440p UW.

 

My question is: 

if I go with 2080S and UW

How much power and ram do I need?

Main thing I do with my computer now is gaming.

I have been thinking about streaming and photography stuff but those are big big maybe.

The improvements with those new Intel chips are extremely minor so you might be better off actually going with an AMD ryzen.

That way you can save some money because it comes with a CPU cooler and you still will get extremely good performance and in some cases even better performance than those new Intel CPUs.
