HHD 4TB+ OEM Minefield

Hi Guys,

 

I need a new mass storage drive and i keep seeing OEM drives all over the place and its harder even to tell if they are OEM drives on the website. Do anyone have anywhere i can reliably go to to get a non OEM drive that is 4TB+? Recent experience would be amazing or if you can recommend a good UK store that sells at a good price?

 

My ideal drive would be 128Mb cache and 7200rpm but this can be changed as i would rather a reliable drive than one that just gives up. Budget is around £100 - £200.

Not sure I get specifically what you mean by "OEM" in this context though

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Thanks, there is a big issue in the UK it seems at the moment that bulk order non retail drives are being sold to regular customers that have a warranty that neither retailer or manufacture will honour. I normally don't have an issue buying things but it seems a real issue at the moment. I have checked many sites and see the part as non OEM and then seeing a review with there drive failing and they cannot get a replacement as its an OEM drive and as above they cannot get a refund nor a replacement.

tbh, i never received any hard drive in a retail packaging. The one drive that failed on me was refunded with no problem.. Though that was Germany so...
