Adapt to USB-C Display In?

My monitor has a USB-C display input, is there anyway to adapt say an hdmi signal to it? 

 

I'm just not sure if the adapters made for macs will work since those are for output or at least that's what I'm pretty sure is the case.

After doing some more googling after knowing what to search for, I'm clearly not the first to ask this question but puzzingly enough no one else has found this adapter xD

Someone on quora gave a detailed answer on why it wouldn't work at all, so I'm not sure what to do with all this information ?
