Apartment Router?

LZ Holy Narwhal

I was thinking of getting a router to boost speeds in our apartment - but the modem itself is in my roommate's closet, and I was hoping I could connect it to the phone jack in my room. Would that work? I am currently connecting my Philips Hue Bridge through it, so I can imagine there wouldn't be an issue??

If you've got RJ-45 (Ethernet) through the walls, you should be able to plug in  an access point to one side and to the router in the other. If it's just another telephone line I don't think that'll work.

Otherwise, Getting a better access point if you can't just replace the entire modem.
