Hello, I thought I bought "i9-7900X QS" at the ebay from chinese seller, but, both BIOS and Windows show as "i7-7900X. It appears to be Geniue Intel CPU, according to Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool, and passes all tests. However, both CPU-Z and HWiNFO64 show as "i9-7900X". Is this means i9-7900X planned to be launched as i7-7900X or something? Does anyone have informations about this SKU?

Hello, I'm having issues with a X299 motherboard i have, to a point i created an account here just for that. The thing is, the motherboard, once plugged to a live PSU, flashes it's stand-by LEDs ( That line most motherboards have down at the bottom left + Also a green light just under the I/O ) for a split second then shut itselfs down. No POST, no boot, no fans spinning, no nothing, not even a single light on the case, it's like the shit is bricked. ... Aside from the GPU, which has it's red warning LEDs still on when you unplug the PCI-E cables ( Picture taken from Google but you get the point, same LEDs, but solid red ). Aside from that, nothing gets current, i would've said at least the 5V seems to work but no, since it should also work for the motherboard stand-by lights. Unplugging the PSU for a bit, then replugging it and turning it on will make the same effect again. Problem is, i tried everything, changing PSUs, running the motherboard with or without CPU, same with the GPU, RAM and even battery. And the result is always the same. I'm starting to lose hope, really. If anyone has any kind of advice, I'd love to read it, anything can help at this point ...

Hello internet, My pc died on me and all arrows point to the motherboard. So guess I'm shopping for a replacement. Only problem is that I am not even close to up-to-date about the motherboard market so I'm gonna need some help. My current setup: Asus tuf X299 mk1 motherboard (the presumably broken one) I7-7800x GTX1060 DDR4-3200 32Gb RAM Some AIO cooler Some HDD Some fans and RGB (with hub) Now I'm looking for something that does the job, nothing too fancy or expensive, and that is ofcourse 100% compatible with the rest of the setup.

Budget (including currency): $700 USD Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Autodesk Inventor, Autocad, Fusion 360, Shadow of the Tomb Raider (yes I actually play this game) CS:GO minecraft with SEUS renewed shaders (don't judge me plz) Other details I already have a decent monitor and a high end custom keyboard and mouse so I just need the tower. I have built 4-5 systems in the past for myself but they have all been low end or old. The highest end PC I have built was a 2500k using the onboard graphics. Currently I have a 8250u laptop that thermal throttles so badly that a Q6600 beats it(Yes I have repasted it many many many times). I need something that can actually play everything beside CS:GO at 45-60 FPS. With CS:GO I want at least 120-144 FPS. I also love virtualization so the more cores the better. With that being said I really want something unique. Not just something that thousands of people have. That means that throw the 3600 and 60 series GPU out the window. I have a couple of PCPartPicker lists but I would like some recommendations. I've heard a fair bit about X299 boards sucking some royal ass, well some of them that is. So My question is, what are the some better boards that don't cause issues?

Hello Tech Tips Forum, As the Title Suggests I am needing some assistance finding a new CPU Cooler for my Intel 9900X CPU socketed on my EVGA x299 Dark Motherboard, this motherboard is what makes things complicated because it's VRM Cooling solution eliminates my ability to Select Coolers like the Noctua NH-D15 or BeQuiet! Dark Rock Pro 4. So with that said, I'm needing some Suggestions to help with purchasing a new CPU Cooler until I can inevitably make the upgrade to AMD, the reason I need a new cooler is mostly because I suspect my 3-4 year old EVGA CLC 360 is beginning to head on it's way out. So as such I need help with suggestions for a new cooler, I do have some brands I intend to avoid, one such brand is NZXT. Preferably I'd like to get an Air Cooler, but I am open to Liquid Coolers, that being said, Air Coolers are the priority. Any and All suggestions are helpful but I really need help with finding compatible coolers. Thanks.

Hi, I've been having an issue with my new PC Build. I built it a couple of days ago with the help of my brother who built himself a near identical version. Asus ROG Strix x299-e Gaming ii Intel i9 10920X 2x 32gb Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro Aresgame AGT1000 1000w Gold PSU Samsung SSD 980 NVMe M.2 1TB Asus 1060 (I think the 6gb one? idk it was an out of the box hand me down) Upon turning the PC on we got a D6 error on the LED with the phrase "HDD Detect" with it. The Monitor (plugged into the display port) boots itself up, but displays no image and turns itself off. Asus claims D6 to be a graphics card issue. A graphics card that was just working in my old PC. The power light on the graphics card is lit and white (like it should). I have now tried about a billion troubleshooting steps: Checked PCIE connections, Tried other PCIE slots on the PSU, Flashed BIOS, Tried in the lower GPU port, Plugged back into old PC and GPU works fine, CMOS, ReFlashed BIOS, Reseeded RAM, Reseeded NVMe into all available ports, Tried a regular 1TB Samsung EVO SSD as well, Tried the different display port plug on the GPU. The only thing I did not try was a different GPU in the new PC as I do not have one lying around. I'm about at my wit's end and my brother seems to think I bought a lemon. I've emailed Asus and their response was to email me the troubleshooting guide from their site (which I already told them I tried). I'd rather not take my whole PC back apart to send it back to the seller or *shudders* ASUS as I have a very small apartment and I'm afraid of keeping these items safe (especially my CPU) now that they're out of their box. For now my GPU is back in my old PC and my new (bank breakingly expensive) PC sits on my desk, GPU-less, as a monolith to my failure. You guys have any suggestions before I start Project: Disassemble? I could really use a Deus Ex Machina right about now.
-
Hi folks, This is my first post here so firstly hi all! Thanks in advance for anyone who reads and takes the time to respond - I appreciate it. I'm interested in what performance gains I might be able to get by upgrading my system (specs below). Most of my usage is on SketchUp, Enscape, V-Ray and some other CAD programs, though I do do some gaming and image/video editing too. As I understand it, my biggest limitation at the moment might be the single-core processing speed? Also I guess ram speed could be improved if I change CPU & motherboard? I've been getting a few WHEA errors recently, and I think it might be one of the RAM sticks, so I may have to replace them in order to be sure. No suggestions are bad- I'm open minded. Budget... well lets say no more than £2k for any combination of upgrades. Current rig: CASE: NZXT H700i MB: ROG Rampage VI Omega Extreme PSU: Corsair RM850X CPU: i9-9900x (9900k was out of stock when I commissioned this system) Cooler: Corsair H150i Pro 360 RGB RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB DDR4 3200 16GB x 4 GPU: Asus RTX 2080ti ROG Strix OC HD1: Samsung 1TB 970 Evo Plus HD2: Seagate 2TB Barracuda ST200DM008 Current temps: System is OC'd to about 28% (stock OC at SCAN computers, I'm not messing...) when using the Occulus Quest 2 in link mode to view an Enscape model the GPU usage goes straight to 100%, and gets up to around 70C. CPU never gets above 60C. Thanks!

I have an MSI x299 SLI plus board, with a 9820x and powered via evga 1300G2 psu. i just picked up a oculus quest 2 to run off the machine and get a feel for things before getting a index usb 2.0 ports work as you would expect (have 4x) usb 3.0 ports only produce.5a-.7a of current (have 4x) usb 3.1v2(10gb) ports produce 1.7a but show as a 2.0 device when connecting to the port.(i have 1x type A and 1x type C) i purchased a usb 3.2 pci card dual type C and i get the same usb 2.0 error i tried to download usb drivers from msi and intel but they are installers instead of .inf files so im not sure how to change the drivers I do not, and can not figure out why i would be limited on these ports. in bios i have settings for thunderbolt but nothing limiting speeds. ive tried with thunderbolt toggled on and off. tried to post on the msi reddit before comming here Board Overview Reddit Link

Does anyone know if the Asus Prime x299 deluxe motherboards have issues where they either stop booting, or will boot but then freeze or restart your computer after a certain amount of time? I've seen some stuff online about the quality of the boards, but looking for anything more specific. Thanks

So, when I got my PC (2 years ago) I didn't really know what I was doing, and went for the X299 Intel platform because I didn't do enough research for my specific needs (predominantly gaming) and thought "expensive = better". Over the last 2 years I've tried to educate myself a bit more and learn about the different platforms. I'd still say I'm pretty novice, hence this question. I'm now looking to upgrade my CPU, mainly for gaming performance, but also thermals as the 7740x I have runs very hot. I've been looking at the new 10th gen X series processors and they are just so expensive and I'm not sure on their gaming performance compared to other options. So my question is, is it worth me staying on X299, both in terms of performance and the platforms longevity, and upgrading. Or should I try to look at moving to something different, that'll potentially be more future proof and/or have better gaming performance? Or should I not bother with any type of upgrade at this time? Any advice on a way forward would be greatly appreciated.

Budget (including currency): $500-$1000 USD, I really prefer to keep the budget lower than higher Country: United States Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Primarily HTPC with casual VR, HTC Vive, although I prefer quality visuals over frame rates, as long as the frame rates are reasonable. Primary gaming is in VR, Fallout4 VR. Other details Monitors: Currently plugged into my 1080p 60hz 55" TV through my home theater surround sound. Also have my HTC Vive plugged in. Overclocking: I have never delved into overclocking. Primarily because I would not have the funds to replace anything I broke. Time frame for decision: I prefer to make a decision during Summer 2020 Original build from 2017 Original build intent was to build a budget VR rig with the most graphics horsepower I could afford. At the time with coupons, sales, and reusing case etc. I was able to build it for under $1700 including the cost of the HTC Vive. MB: Asus TUF X299 Mark 2 CPU: Intel Core i5-7640X Kaby Lake-X GPU: Nvidia GTX1080 Founders Edition RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 8GB (2x4GB) DDR4 2800 SSD: WD Black 256GB NVMe SSHD: Seagate Firecuda 1TB 7200rpm CPU Cooler: Cooler Master RR-212X-20PM-R1 PS: Corsair CX750 The Issue In VR I have always had consistent "Frame Timing Spikes", finally decided time to do something about it. It seems the internet consensus is the primary cause is CPU performance. At the time I though the Kaby Lake i5 was a great budget build. Now I know it was a bit of a compromise. The options So my options are upgrade, replace, or keep it as it is and wait another few years. Keep it as is is certainly the cheapest option. Upgrade: The "best part" about my older x299 is that my motherboard can support new processors? I could replace my i5-7640x with an i9-10900x I could also find an old used or new old stock i7-7740x New build for same price I have not been keeping up to date with the new processor, motherboard and performance standards over the past few years. If you think I could new build and reuse as much hardware as possible to keep the price down. Let me know. What are your thoughts?

Hey, i overclocked my i7 7800x to 4,8Ghz with 1,32V and 1,85VCCIN Volt. My temperatures with Prime 95 stay at 90 degrees, but when i go to 4,9Ghz windows crashes. Any tips ( Tried to go 1,37V and 1,9V didn't work). Or am i just at my maximum potential? Greetings

Anybody have the Gaming 7 X299? And the 7800X cpu by chance? I’ve got quite a mystery to solve. A few months ago I started noticing video lag in my editing software. Checked for Windows updates - which usually solves it. It didn’t. Then I started noticing lag everywhere else. I mean everywhere. I’d try to restart it and it wouldn’t come on. Lights and fans would come on but that’s it. Sometimes the whole system would be on but nothing would come on the screen. MB shows all sorts of weird codes. But then sometimes, it would work fine. But not for long. 1. I dusted the entire PC. 2. I tested the RAM and CPU with Windows (RAM) and Intel CPU test. Both were fine. 3. I swapped out the GPU for another. Same issue. 4. I installed a sample version of Windows on a clean drive with nothing else. Same issue. 5. I noticed it was running really hot and seemed to act up the hotter it got. Replaced the case fans and upgraded from a 120mm to a 360mm liquid cooler. Now the machine is ice cold. And it’s been running great, until today. The lag came back. Not as bad, but it’s there. I’ve had this build for a year and half and only now have these issues. What on Earth could this be????? My setup: Intel 7800X 6 core Gaming 7 X299 Ballistix Sport LT 2666 64GB DDR4 ram MSI Gaming GTX 1060 6GB GPU HP 500gb SSD X 2 HP 120gb SSD X 1 Rosewill 750 Watt 80 Plus Gold

Anyone else is looking forward for the x299 motherboards and CPU? since Intel Skipped the 1xx and didnt he and X series chipset since X99.

I recently started thinking about updating my PC, I use it for gaming, Twitch and Youtube streaming, and video editing, so obviously intel extreme cpu came to my mind. I currently have i7 4790, 16gb 1600mhz and a G1 Sniper B6 mobo I started checking for good deals on 6800K with X99 mobo and some DDR4 ram and the prices are relatively high (even tho I can get the cpu cheap from a friend who works at intel) now I saw some articles about the new X299 chipset that should arrive later this year, and I started doubting my decision to get 6800K , my friends told me that entry cpu for the Skylake X cpu will not perfrom MUCH better than the 6800K, but I dont care about too much. given that money IS a factor (but not by much) and I dont expect a BIG difference in performance anyways, should I wait for new X299 or get X99 with 6800K on a discount?

Intel might launch their Intel X299 platform before year's end. Speculation has it, they might launch it during Gamescom, in Germany, which last from August 22 to 26. Intel X299 uses a new socket with 2066 pins, supports quad channel DDR4 at 2667MHz and possible support for Intel Optane. So far, there will be 4 cpus. 10c, 8c, 6c, with a 140w tdp and a 4c with a tdp of 112w. The 140w ones are Skylake-x and that single 112w is Kabylake-x. No official model numbers yet, but we can expect them to be the core i7 7xxx. https://benchlife.info/intel-will-not-announce-skylake-x-kaby-lake-x-with-x299-in-computex-01222017/ https://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?depth=1&nv=1&rurl=translate.google.com&sp=nmt4&tl=en&u=https://benchlife.info/intel-will-not-announce-skylake-x-kaby-lake-x-with-x299-in-computex-01222017/&usg=ALkJrhiFbGsQkgYckHmvXErLVUXvTXRdEg

Sauce from ASRock themselves: http://www.asrock.com/news/index.asp?ID=3625 The marketing blurb: First the ultimate X299 board: The Fatal1ty X299 Professional Gaming i9 (pretty much confirming an Intel Core i9 lineup coming). Built-in 10 GBit LAN on the back, all the PCIe 3.0 X16 slots, 3 M.2 slots all of which are full PCIe 3.0 4x slots, and of course all the RGB. Others are also on their merry way, including the X299 Taichi. Next, the very impressive and super puny but oh my god powerful X299E-ITX/AC. ITX X299 board, 4 SO-DIMM DDR4 slots, wireless AC WiFi, 2 gigabit Intel LAN ports, 3 (yes, 3) M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 slots, the lot. Oh, and the socket itself is about 1/4th the size of the entire flippin' board. On to something else that's ridiculous: the H110 Pro BTC+. An H110 board solely for mining bitcoin with PCIe 3.0 1x cards. This has 12 of them (alongside a full sized X16 slot). Finally here's the first of 2 AM4 ITX boards. This one is the Fatal1ty X370 Gaming-ITX/ac. AC WiFi, (what seems like) a 6-phase power setup, Dual HDMI ports, Intel Gigabit LAN, the lot, an M.2 slot on the back. The other one is pretty much the same (as far as I can tell from the press release), but with the B350 chipset (and logically a lesser VRM setup as we've seen with all other B350 boards, big or small). So yeah. Maybe there's more to come, but at least I'm exited about AM4 on ITX. But have to say, that X299 ITX board is impressive as fuck. No word so far on AMD's X399 platform. Maybe later, or maybe it'll be an entirely separate event later in June/July.
