Hi there, i've been doing some pc stuff for some time now and i've been curious all this time. How exactly does the advertised read/write speed work and how does it translate to the 400-700 mb/s speeds i experience when for example: copying a game to my second ssd. Im also curious how i could improve my drive's speeds to whats advertized (6.300 mb/s) (showing 400-600 when copying files/games). Last question which im also curious how i obtain 1gbps copy speeds on my ssd's. Hello, I'm having a problem with my ssd, it is a bx500 240gb from crucial (dram-less), bought it ~ 10 months ago, did a speed test on the week of purchase, everything was fine, but tried to run a benchmark again recently an those are the results I got (using crystal disk mark. Already tested other software and got the same results): https://imgur.com/D29sQt4 I've already tried to reinstall drivers, update firmware, tried running linux mint live on a usb stick an then run the benchmark but still got the same results, I even tried Defragging the ssd to see if it would help but nothing changed. Everything is just like when I bought it, but for some reason the speed has halfed. Trim is enabled, drive caching is also enabled, AHCI mode, on a sata 3 port and cable. Any idea of what could be causing the issue? Is rma'ing the ssd the only option?

I installed my new WD Black SN770 1TB SSD into my motherboards PCIe Gen4 slot and it's not working correctly. It's slow and any files I transfer to it slows to a crawl. The WD Black SN750 1TB PCIe Gen3 that was installed previously worked perfectly fine. I included a screenshot of task manager, CrystalDiscInfo and CrystalDiskMark and a screen recording I posted on YouTube. If anyone could help me figure this out, I would greatly appreciate it. Hi all, My work is closely related to reading very large files (.svs) and processing them, I don't care much about the write speeds because the main bottleneck over there would be the 1gigabit network connection, but I really need high speed when it comes to read. The write speeds could be as low as 500MB/s but I would really like the read speeds to be 2.5-3GB/s. Is there any SSD in the market available for this? The capacity can be close to 500GB to 2TB but the budget can be only from $100-$300 USD. Thoughts and suggestions?

I have the micro usb plugged into an micro sd to usb. So there is no lock on it. So i dont know how it could be write protected. All i want to do is format this thing, bc i cant do anything to the card.

Hey there. I've got a 128gb Samsung 850 Pro SSD that has been rock solid up until now. Recently while messing around with PassMark's PerformanceTest software I did a test on my SSD and was getting results between 30-70MB/s while writing. Read speeds were around 270-350 MB/s which is low but tolerable. Did a test with CrystalDiskMark and saw very similar results with slightly higher read performance. I also tested with Samsung Magician and had even worse results. I also have a Samsung 850 Evo 500gb in the same system so I tested that with Samsung Magician and got great/expected results. So my next test was to pop out the drive and stick it in my 2nd PC. I swapped it out with my Intel 250gb SSD and before doing so I did tests on that drive and got its normal results. Threw the 850 Pro in and still no luck. Ran some benchmarks again and had similar results except when using Atto to benchmark. I'll post screenshots of my results. While Atto definitely looks more like what I should be getting it is still low and is only testing small files which (I'd guess) doesn't show the whole story. Any help would be great. AHCI is enabled on both PC's. SMART status on the drive is good, Samsung Magician says its in good health and has about 12tb written to it which is very young for this drive. I also have it secured with Bitlocker (which I suspended before testing on the 2nd PC) although I doubt that makes much a difference. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Hello, I am new to this forum and I don't speak very well english so i try to be as coherent as i can. So i have a problem with my pc that it causes some mini freezes when i am gaming or under heavy load as rendering movies or something that stress the cpu, gpu and hdd. When rendering or gaming the computer witll make like a cliking sound like when you turn off the pc, and in adobe premiere when rendering the remaining time stops and the hdd goes to 100% with 0 read and write speed, the PC does not have any problem it still works i can browse on chrome mozilla or watch some youtube, but the render stops and it continues after some time when the HDD usage goes to normal. The tricky part is that i tried everything and it seems i found the problem witch is absurd....WHENEVER I disconect the ethernet cable form my pc or when i turn it off from adapter settings these problems does not appear, it works perfectly fine...i tried changing my hddds and tried it one by one and they are all ok....if i try to render somethign with only one HDD and ethernet cable pluged in the problem is still there...I tried with a wireless adapter and this problem does not occur it works perfectly fine but with wirreless adapter i have lag and sometimes disconection form the internet.... The problem started the 3 day after i upgraded my internet form 12 Mbps to 500 Mbps I had this problem before with freezes, the pc would become unusable, the only solution beeing force shut down, It happened only in games like GTA V and CS:GO but it was fixed with a 250 gb samsung ssd, but now i have minifreezes that cause some discomfort when playing something. I forgot to mention: When i install windows 10 or or 8.1 or 7 the same problem with the lan adapter....but the first day it works fine without freezing but after some time it starts to mini freeze with no updates done to windows and with only the drivers form the manufactor which is strange because it works fine at first...idk what is the problem. All drivers are up to date...i tried different versions of drivers for every component, older versions latest versions the problem its not with the components it coming from the lan port...I even brought a new lan board and the problem is still there. PC specs: -Windows 10 Pro 64bit -Intel Pentium g3260 3.3ghz dual core -Ram 6gb DDR3(4gb+2gb kingstone) -GPU NVIDIA Asus gt730 2gb 128bit DDR3 -3 HDD seagate 1T -1 SSD Samsung 850 EVO 250GB -PSU rated power 200W, max 460W The system was pre-built I only added 2 HDD and 1 SSD it has a year and a little since i bought it. Temps are normal...I tried every stress test i checked my HDD they are in good standing. Please every piece of information is welcome.

I have a server with Windows Server 2012 R2 with a Storage Spaces pool consisting of 4 Hitachi 3TB disks (1 hot spare), the pool is configured with parity. It has worked fine until now, a bit slow, but still working. Now I can open the volume and see the files, but can't play any of the media. When trying to copy something from the volume there is a short burst with 15-20 MB/s reads, but then it dips down to 0. Once every couple of minutes it will transfer a couple of KB. Storage Spaces says that all disks are healthy, but HWInfo is saying that two of the disks have SMART errors. The weird thing is that writing to the volume is completely OK, I am getting +80MB/s when writing. What could be the issue here? Is there some settings that could be tweaked, or is the data already on the disks corrupted and unsalvageable?

Hello, I believe my hard drive is slowing me down, and I need your opinions. My HDD NewEgg listing and CrystalDiskMark scores are below. Are they normal for an HDD? Are they below average? Below is why I think the drive is sub-par. Some backstory: A friend recently got me PUBG and I've found that it's nearly unplayable on my computer. Before I explain my misery, all of my settings are on the minimum with the resolution at 1280x720 with the resolution scale at 70%. When I look around, the game stutters (presumably from assets popping in), and load times are aberrant; my game usually finishes loading when I'm manually kicked out of the plane (about 2 minutes after a match starts). After that, I have to lie down on the ground and wait for all the textures and most of the assets to load in. This process usually takes 2-5 minutes. Sometimes the game freezes to a point of no return. However, if everything does happen to load, the game stutters frequently, especially when I look around as mentioned above. Granted, the game is still in Early Access on Steam, but many people run it fine. I can't recall other games doing this on my PC, other than modded Skyrim. I've personally come to the conclusion that my HDD isn't cutting it. So, I've gone ahead and bought an SSD (that arrives several days from now) to hopefully cure this problem. Though, that may not be the solution. Now, I've run CrystalDiskMark and want to see if my HDD is running as well as any other HDD, or if its speed has degraded over time. After all, it is eight years old. If my HDD is not the problem, what might it be? For now, I'm not going to post the rest of my PC's specs. If many of you are led to believe my problems stem from another part of my computer, then I will. The HDD: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148701 Device Manager just names it as "ST3500413AS ATA Device." CrystalDiskMark Scores (0Fill): All the settings are what the software came set as when installed, but with 0Fill on (as I've heard it's recommended). The scores are not much different with 0Fill off except for the Sequential Write speed which is about 20 MB/s behind with 0Fill active. Thanks ahead of time.

Over the past month I've been getting terrible write speeds on my SSD (reading speeds are perfectly normal). I've tried updating bios/ssd firmware/closing all programs etc etc. is my SSD kill even though it shows perfect life? pls help :l

Hi all! New to the forum here but a subscriber on YouTube for about a year now. I have a pickle: I'm planning to buy an USB 3.0 thumb drive. I've gathered from reviews that it has a writing speed of 80 MB/s. I've also tested my HDD with the same software that I've seen in those print screens (CrystalDiskMark) and it told me that my reading speed of the hard drive is 70 MB/s. So I've been wondering if pairing these two would create a bottleneck for the USB. I mean, would the copying speed (writing on the USB) be limited to 70 MB/s?

So I posted on this forum about this the other day, but I have a different problem. I have tried using Windows software, Q-Flash, and even AMI-DOS to try and flash my bios to an older version, and every time it says the bios is write protected. Is there any way to disable it? I can't find a way to disable it in Bios either. This was the original post: So as a backstory: I just bought borderlands 3, and this is the first game I've bought that my PC isn't powerful enough to run. I have an i5-6500, 12gb Ram, and a gtx 1070. I want to overclock my cpu so that I can get some more performance out of it. I don't know if it will actually help, but it's worth a try. Obviously you can't overclock non-K chips, but you can change the bclk. However, you can only do that on older bios versions, as Intel doesn't like you doing that. My motherboard is Gigabyte GA-Z170-HD3. I have the latest bios, but found out that version 6e was the last one that supports bclk overclocking. But when I go to the bios update utility and choose that file, it says "This motherboard is protected from using this bios". Is there a way to force my motherboard to have the older bios? TLDR: Is there a way to force my motherboard to have an old bios that it wouldn't otherwise let me have? Thanks!!

I know it sounds weird but I have a problem on my Surface Go When I try to type on Windows Start menu, File Explorer or some MS Office apps nothing happens, but the keyboard (Typecover) works perfectly with my browser, acrobat reader, outlook, WIN key and Win shortcuts (Win+R, Ctrl+Alt+Del, ..) Earlier this week I deactivated the "Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service" because the screen keyboard kept popping up every time I touched the screen with my hand while trying to write with the pen. I just tried re-enabling the service and it's actually working again. Guess I'll have to find another way around this annoying software keyboard.... I post this anyway because I didn't find anything on the internet and it may be helpful for someone.

Hey there guys. Today i tried the AIDA64 Memory test and i think the numbers that i'm getting are little bit on the low side. My PC has: Asus X99 Deluxe I7 5820K 4.2 Ghz 4.0Ghz cache 32GB 4x8 Mushkin RedLine 3200Mhz DDR4 16 18 18 36 1.35V RX 580 Sapphire Nitro+ Limited Edition FSP 750W 80+ Silver Adata SX6000NP NVMe. Samsung 850Evo SATA III Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200Rpm 64mb cache HDD . I'm running X.M.P. Profile so my memory is running at it's rated 3200Mhz speed and in AIDA64 i'm only getting aroud 62 000mb read and write speeds. Is this normal? I've seen some pictures of Qaud Channel DDR3 that are gettinh higher numbers than mine. Also i tried manually adjusting my memory speeds to 3200 with latency of 15 17 17 35 which was stable throughout the test and results were pretty much 1:1 .

Hi guys, I have a problem, in a nutshell I would like to create a program in C ++ that reads user input and puts it in a file. I managed to do everything except to write the file, that is, when the user inserts the text in the file is written only the word that comes before the space, how can I make it print all the text entered by the user?

Hi, recently At school we studied the function to read and write files on c ++, can you explain to me how it works? For example if I want to create a program that draws a menu made with a switch typing "1" creates a file, typing "2" allows you to write to and typing "3" allows you to read it how should I do? can I create multiple files with the same program? Thank you

I have a 1TB 5400 RPM Drive. I have it on an Orico USB 3.0 Enclosure I copied a 2GB video file from that 5400rpm drive to my internal 7200rpm drive, plugged it in the USB 3.0 port, speeds were around 28MB/s I tried it the other way around. Copied the same 2GB file from my internal 7200rpm drive to the external 5400rpm drive on a 3.0 enclosure and I got 100MB/s Can anyone explain this to me? Thanks

Hello my sequential write speeds are kind of low on my new Samsung 970 EVO 1TB M.2 SSD. Here some specs: Mainboard: Asus X470 Gaming-F CPU: Ryzen 7 2700X, Default RAM: G.Skill Trident Z 3200MHz, (auto XMP off, did the settings manually) OS running on this SSD If i go for 4 threads on sequential i'll get like 2600 MB/s. But others get these with 1 thread.

Today a bought an ssd, its pny 240gb. i'm happy with it's speed but some people are saying that i shouldn't install games on my ssd, that it'll reduce it's lifespan. now that's what making me worried. even i wanted to use this for IDM takes file appending takes too much time on an HDD. i already installed windows and all necessary files like photoshop, Blender, illustrator etc etc. there's more than 180gb free, now what should i do? should i keep it like that or should i write on my ssd?

I recently picked up an S9 as part of an upgrade deal with my carrier. I also bought a Micro SD card that stopped working in my S9 (I can view it on my PC with an adapter (yes the "lock switch" is off) when I transferred 2000+ memes to it from my older ASUS Zenfone Maxplus. I've done the Regedit route and made sure the Hex value for "write protect" is 0x0-. But that hasn't work either. Using software tools doesn't work because of the write protection and CMD has working either. In CMD I ran the following: >disk part >list disk >select disk 1 >attributes disk clear readonly >clean (but I get error: (diskpart has encountered an error the request could not be performed because of an i/o error) So I tried the following: >chkdsk : D (which came up clear but disk tool "check for errors" says it found errors and needs to repair the drive but can't because of write protection) I'm really out of ideas now, I'm still trying to troubleshoot this but I seem completely unable to clear the write protection. I just want to format the whole thing to start over. Is it time to exchange it for another one? Is there something else I can do?

Hello there. I would be glad if someone could help me. I bought a 3TB Toshiba HDD around 2 months ago and 2 days ago I got a message from HD Sentinel which said the health state is critical (29%), and it detected 85 uncorrectable sector failures. I was freaked out, so I performed a retest to make sure it's not a mistake, and the error is mystically disappeared, the health state is 100% since then, but the performance is..well.. crap... I think this is the best word. None of the programs I used has detected any error, but the write speed drops to constant 1.5-2.5 MB/s from the original 110-140/s in a few seconds after the operation starts. The read speed looks kinda okay, but it also decreased from constant 170/s to an unstable number between 55 and 160 MBps. Btw it's an archive drive, so in theory, it shouldn't be impacted by any windows background operation. Model: Toshiba HDWD130 ( https://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-Desktop-7200rpm-Internal-Drive/dp/B013JPLOQQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1540637010&sr=8-1&keywords=Toshiba+HDWD130&dpID=41X-19gBXYL&preST=_SX300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch Could it be a simple software failure or it is the drive which closes to the end? Thanks for the help!

So I'm currently playing 2 games mainly - Hitman 2 and Mass Effect 2. The former on a Barracuda 2TB 7200rpm and the latter on a WD Enterprise edition 2TB 7200rpm. Everything was fine until I replaced my old mouse with a new Logitech G102 mouse (or at least the onset of problems coincided with that change) about halfway through these games. Here's what the problems look like: Hitman 2 > Almost every time the game autosaves (which is very frequently), or when I do a manual quick save and the moving barcode appears on bottom-right the game freezes for a few seconds, then resumes. The moving lines on the save animation also freeze in place, so its not just the in-game world that's freezing. This also happens whenever I 'discover' a new area within a game map, but I guess that's tied in to the save feature somehow because the discovered locations on the map carry over between saves. Besides this I've no other problem with the game. Mass Effect 2 > Firstly, the load times for each section/map/level take a lot of time. But its not consistent, some levels load very quickly (like they used to before the problems began) but some take forever. Even though they're of a similar size/composition as each other like for example the Normandy's 3rd & 4th levels from top (where Garrus & Grunt stay respectively). > There's also some momentary hitching/freezing in-game as I walk into doors. But quicksaving/manual saving in ME2 doesn't seem to cause any hitching or freezing whatsoever. So the issue in Hitman seems Write-related while ME2's problems seem more Read-related. I'm also playing some other games on the side like Civilization 6 and that game doesn't seem to exhibit any apparent problems. I've only started it after the problems with the other two games began and Civ6 does take a bit of time to load the world initially but I don't know if its abnormally long cuz like I said I didn't play it before. Things I've already tried: > Replaced the new mouse with the old one again, problems still there. > Flushed all the RGB/settings-control software that came with both mice, restarted. > Did file integrity checks for both games via Steam & Origin client tools respectively. > Error-checked both disk drives with Properties>Tools>Error Checking. Performed defragmentation on both, twice. What's most perplexing is that the two games are on two entirely separate HDDs. I'm out of ideas...help?
