I recently swapped out my cpu cooler and now I have a spare wraith prism lying around. I was going to find a place to recycle it but then decided it might be a fun project to repurpose it into something else! that led me down a rabbit hole of trying to find a good resource for repurposing pc components and, unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be much out there. Does anyone know of a good resource or have any ideas of their own what else I could do? I’m not interested in building another machine out of it. I’d rather turn it into a lamp or something. Thanks!

I bought a PC from AWD-IT which frequently overheated (also didn't come with the specced cooler) so I sent it back. When I did, I had the CPU cooler replaced with a Wraith Prism. I've recently started noticing that the CPU fan sounds like a motorbike engine. I know it's the CPU fan as, when I first booted today, my CPU fan would spin for a few seconds, come to a near-stop then rev up again and the weird sounds seemed to sync with the fan. There is nothing stuck in the fan (I did have this problem upon getting the PC with the new cooler back as some packing paper had got stuck in the fan but that was removed). It's still under warranty, what should I do?

My Ryzen 7 2700x currently uses the air cooler “Wraith Prism” Is there a 'much better' air color? And I would need one CHEAPER THAN $75 (OBVIOUSLY O.B.O IS OKAY). Any URLs or Model # or discussion would be very helpful. Thanks and may God bless you and your entire ancestry.

Hey all - like many I did not go stock on my cooling setup when building my PC and my daughter's PC. So I have two (2) AMD Wraith coolers, and one (1) gently used (for about 30 days) the other brand new. What do you all do with these? Chucking them seems like a waste, but they are just sitting in boxes on my shelf? Does anyone need a cooler I will send it to you for free if you are in North America? Any good ideas?

I finished my first PC build almost 5 months ago now, and looking back, I'm wondering if the cooler I got was a waste. I was told by a friend that in the long run I would be better to get something besides the stock AMD cooler because it would increase my CPU life. I decided to go with the Cooler Master Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition. I chose this cooler both because it had good reviews for the price, and because it had RGB. I know some people think RGB is a waste of money, but for me it is totally worth the extra dollars because I really enjoy the overall appearance it creates. At the time, I was planning to get the Ryzen 5 3600, which does not have RGB on the stock cooler. However, I made a last minute decision (after buying my cooler) to switch to the Ryzen 7 2700x, which I now learned comes with an RGB cooler. In addition to this, apparently the cooler I got doesn't actually improve that much over the temps I would get with the wraith cooler. Was this decision a complete waste of money, or are there some advantages I'm getting from using the Hyper 212 cooler over the Wraith cooler?

I'm looking to upgrade my wraith prism to a better air cooler but I'm on a tight budget of 30-40 $. I don't want to buy an aftermarket cooler that has the same performance as the wraith prism, so I need to know what cooler is comparable to it as a reference.

Hey guys, I'm using a 3700X with Wraith Prism cooler. I use it for regular gaming & movie encoding. This is my first build by myself after 8 years. I clearly don't have any idea about CPU Power & Overclocking. So when I play games my CPU doesn't go above 77C after hours of gaming (Max settings ofc). But when I encode something on Handbrake using the highest quality the temperature gets between 80-83C @100% usage all cores. So what I want is , is there any way to decrease the temp & increase performance a bit? I tried to mess with the fan curve in BIOS but I couldn't save it (i'm using an MSI X570 motherboard). Also can you check if my CPU power consumption & stuffs are okay or not in the screenshots? Are they over powered or any issue i mean...

Hi. I was having some issues with trying to control the lights on my AMD Wraith Prism cooler with the ASRock Polychrome Sync software (I'm using the ASRock B450M Pro4). After some digging, I finally found the correct header to connect the 4 pin RGB cable into and was able to control the LED for the blades of the cooler. However, the outer LED ring remains to be stuck on RGB cycle effect and can not be changed. After some more research, I found out that it can be controlled with the Cooler Master software by connecting the USB cable from the cooler to the motherboard's USB 2.0 header. Is there any other way to control the LED ring light without the USB cable, since I bought the cooler with the CPU secondhand and it only comes with the 4 pin RGB cable Thanks for the help

I'm half way through building a new PC and I've come across a slight issue. My motherboard has 2 USB headers, and I need to plug in - 1 CPU fan USB (Wraith Prism), 1 front USB, and the V2 Smart device of my H510i. Clearly theres an issue where I need 3 USB headers and I've only got 2. What do I do? I want to use the smart device for sure. If I don't plug in the fan USB, will I lose control of the RGB and the CPU fan entirely? Or should I just skip having a front USB port? I've looked on amazon and an NZXT usb header HUB, for 3 USB headers is about 20 quid. I'll buy one, but not if there isn't an easier/cheaper option. Cheers

Sup, so I want to make my PC quieter. I have some really cheap, loud $10 fans from Amazon right now. Since it's really hard to imagine the noise fans would make, how do you think I'd fair with 4 Be Quiet! Silent Wings 3 (Highspeed, PWM) fans? That'd run me about 80 bucks. The normal speed ones clock in about 16.8 decibels, but the high-speed ones are like 20. I assume I could cap the high-speed ones down to the normal speed and have the same sound. That would offer me more expandability too, so if it's hot, I could set the rpm higher. I'd have 2 intake on the front, one top, and one back - both exhaust. I'd be using these with a Wraith Prism RGB. I know, it gets loud, but I've noticed that's only when it's alone in cooling my pc. If I have my other fans running, it almost never flares up and makes too much noise. So 4 Silent Wings 3 with a Wraith Prism RGB... Do you think it would be nice and quiet? I plan on switching to a Dark Rock Pro 4 or a Cryorig R1 Universal (For the white color) CPU cooler if I want even quieter, but I want to keep my Prism's RGB, so I'd rather not. P.S. I saw a review saying that the frequency of the hum the Silent Wing fans make induces more rage than usual... Any truth to this? EDIT: I'm cooling a 2700x and have a 1080Ti by the way.

I need a cooler for my 3900x. Because of form factor I need something medium to low profile. Is the Dark Rock TF any good? I've barely been able to find any reviews. Will it at least perform better than the included wraith prism? Otherwise it would be a waste. Does anyone have any alternate recommendations for medium to low profile air coolers? Aesthetics are important. I like that the Dark Rock TF is all black.

So I have a r7 3800x in a thermalright v1. With the stock wraith prism and no exhaust fans I idles in the lower 40s but under all core work loads I would get up to 90 and the all core clock would drop about 100 to 150 mhz, and the cooler was loud as hell! After posting on the forum I found I should be able to get a decent tower cooler and bigger than the case spec says. So I ordered a Arctic Freezer 33 Esports One and 2 80mm arctic fans for exhaust! I tested the wraith prism with the 80mm exhaust fans and it didn't help the cpu but did lower gpu temps! Then I installed the Arctic cooler(still with exhaust fans) and now my idle temps are in the 50s! My all core workload tests are now maxing at 79c my frequency also went up about 50 mhz and its much quieter... I'm just worried I did something wrong with the idle temps so much higher! Any tips would be great thank you!

I had a wraith prism cooler lying around. I decided to reuse the led strip inside the cooler to stick inside my case somewhere. When I disassembled the whole thing, I found that the controller for the RGB had 2 pins (positive and negative) which was going to the PWM connector of the FAN. I assumed that its purpose was to check whether the fan was connected or not. So I disconnected those from the fan and connected the positive cable to the 12V pin of the ARGB cable and the negative to the blue pin of the ARGB cable to hopefully fool the controller. In addition, I disconnected the RGB cable going to the fan (prism's fan is also RGB). After all this, I connected the ARGB to the motherboard to find that the led strip lights up in red, only in red. Also, the controller makes a loud whining sound. Am I missing something? Alternatively, is there a separate controller I can buy to connect the led strip (VCC, DIN, GND) to ARGB in the motherboard? PS: My knowledge in electronics is limited. High school level.

AMD 3700X Asus crosshair VI Hero Asus Crosshair VII Hero 16gb hyperX memory 2666mhz Corsair HX750i Stock Wraith Prism GTX 660 for testing I'm working on upgrading my system from a 1700x to a 3700x, and an asus crosshair vi hero to a vii hero. While I'm troubleshooting a memory incompatibility on the X470 crosshair, I tried to test the 3700X on my old motherboard to ensure that the CPU wasnt the issue. I've installed the stock wraith prism cooler and connected the fan cable to the CPU fan header, yet the fan will not spin more than a couple seconds at low rpm. I've gone into the bios (which is the latest one) and attempted to control the fan. It reads as NA in the monitor tab. If I connect it to the AIO pump header, the fan spins at 2800rpm. I then attempted to have the bios ignore the cput fan speed. I saved and restarted. Bam, CPU fan speed error. The ignore setting was ignored, fancy that. I tried to connect the fan back to the cpu so as to set a manual curve. I was able to make changes in Qfan control, however, it wouldn't let me apply any changes. This motherboard was previously used in a custom loop, where the ignore cpu fan speed setting was enabled successfully. This only happened after updating the BIOS, installing the 3700X, clearing CMOS, and installing the stock cooler (instead of previous monoblock). Can anyone shed some light on this issue? I searched online but everyone else said updating bios fixed it. Thanks in advance!

Hi guys, my Wraith Prism is condensing little water droplets inside of it, and I'm starting to get worried. I live in Portugal, the PC is close to a huge window and a way from the bathroom, no AC in the room, only a heater. I first noticed it within like 5 days of use, then I cleaned up and now after one or maybe two weeks, they're back (the water droplets). What should I do to prevent this? Kinda afraid of damaging stuff See the attached image

Hi, I recently upgraded to a Ryzen 3700X. While I want to change to watercooling in the future, at the moment i'm using the stock Wraith Prism cooler until i find the time to do so. As i couldn't really find people having the same issue on forums i was thinking i did a mistake in installing the cooler. My problem is that when turning down the cpu cooler rpm in Asus AI Suite 3 (I'm running an Asus Prime X570P) the rgb on the fan really only works over 60% rpm. When in silent, it turns off completely, in modes other than full speed it flickers. At the moment I've resorted to turning rbg off completely as it seems the power used in the lighting isn't supplied by the usb 2.0 header i have it connected with (no the normal rgb header isn't connected) but instead drawn off the fan voltage. Is there any way to have rgb enabled without blowing my ears out in full speed mode while the PC is running? Help is very much appreciated, Kind Regards, Dohvah P.S.: If anyone has any experience in custom watercooling Corsairs iCue 220T Airflow series, tips are welcome.

I have a Ryzen 3700x in an Aorus X570 Elite motherboard and with the onboard rgb controls it will not change what the ring light did. I also downloaded the Cooler Master and AMD Wraith Prism controller application but that is not helping the problem at all. I have looked tirelessly with no help whatsoever as to figuring out how to control this dang ring light. I can change the fan light just not the ring. Help please!

Hey guys, I got everything set up properly on my new rig and have an AMD Prism cooler. I got the Cooler Master software for it, but I'm super confused as what mirage does. There's M1, M2, and M3. I've been fiddling with the settings and the colours change but I don't get exactly what it's doing. Can some explain how to use this mirage setting properly?

Hello guys, so a couple of days ago i had posted a question about how the cpu was runnign at 60 degrees celsius on idle. I received answers that said that i needed to change the thermal paste and so i did. I used a liquid metal compound with the name of thermal grizzly conductourant . It worked for a couple of hours and then it went back to running at 55 degrees or 50 degrees Celsius idle. So i decided to change the thermal paste and bought a MX-4 thermal paste. (liquid metals are really hard to clean jeez). and so I used it . The same result, works fine to about 38 degrees Celsius for a couple of hours and then runs really hot. Then i again checked the thermal paste by removing the wraith prism and found out it wasn't spread properly.Maybe it's because the base of contact of the cooler doesn't have a thermal pad and is naked. So, I reapplied it and again the same thing happened. I have been re applying the thermal paste using different methods even spreading it evenly across the CPU for almost two days now. Nothing has changed. Can someone tell me what is it that I am doing wrong? Thanks, Anish

Hello there, I've finished the build of my pc a week ago, all seemed fine until I hit the render button in my 3D software. After 30 seconds or so, my fan's cooler (the Wraith Prism, the stock cooler coming with the Ryzen 2700X) was spinning full speed and it is insanely loud (over pretty okay headphones with music on loud). I would like to get an AIO to get a quieter rig Any recommandation for a price between 80$ and 130$ (the sound is my main target). Thanks in advance ! As fasauceome said Actually any alternative that could get me a quiet rig even under load is an option

So, after building my first pc featuring a new Ryzen 3700X with the stock Prism cooler, I have discovered only 4 days later, that the fan bearing has leaked its lubricant all over the fan ring and this resulted in the fan making an unpleasant scrubbing noise when spinning, and its overall noise levels increased. I remember that just after building it, the CPU was practically silent at idle, now you can clearly hear an unpleasant noise at idle. Searching for the issue online, I discovered that there a few similar cases around, all being very recent, starting about second half of august. Checking the coolers box, it states the the product revision is D, so it's possible that this is a recent revision, and it is faulty. Now I am wondering what should I do about this. Should I try to contact AMD support, try to involve the warranty and end up with no CPU for the RMA process, because they will hardly just replace or refund the cooler itself. Alternatively, could i just try to fix it by disassembling it and replying oil to it? Or screw the stock cooler altogether and get a Hyper 212?
