I have recently been asked to update a laptop (Lenovo) of a family member that has not been updated beyond Windows 10 Version 1909. I try to run the windows update tool in settings and it is attempting to download Version 21H2. It stays at 0% of a few minutes then suddenly goes to 96% before failing and throwing the following error after a minute or two: "There were problems installing some updates, but we'll try again later. Feature update to Window 10, version 21H2 - Error 0xc1900223" I have (not in this order): 1) Gone into Services and changed the Windows Update properties to Automatic from Manual 2) Windows Troubleshooter does not find any issues 3) run sfc /scannow in cmd 4) run ipconfig /flushdsn in cmd I have found a couple of forums here that mention a similar problem but there are no answer on them. Can I plug in a bootable USB stick with the lastest windows 10 image ISO and update the laptop or is there another "better" way?

Hi, Just been using the latest version of windows 10, an just exploring the new windows defender. Because usually I use bit defender for Anti Virus and Malwarebytes for anti malware. Has windows finally stepped up there security in the new windows defender? I like to hear your thoughts and experiences with windows defender from performance and security. Cheers.

In the last big update for Windows 10, they changed quite some things in the UI. I like most of the things, but not the Start Menu. They moved the "User" and the "Power", "Settings" and "Windows Explorer" menus to the left side with no text, but instead only icons. I like that you can now customize these icons and it's functional if you have a lot (I turned on almost all). So that's alright, but it now shows all the Start Menu entries right in the front, as soon as you open it (I'm not talking about the tiles). Just look at the picture.

so long story short, I had to do a factory reset on my PC to solve an issue I had with an application. Since having done that factory reset, every time I turn my PC on, windows tries to update. once the update is finished, my PC restarts and I get a black screen where I should be getting the login/pin screen to get to my desktop. So I restart my computer and it goes into "automatic repair" and undo's the update and I can get back to my desktop. Any idea as to whats going on?

As a part of the list of features that the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update lists as being removed or deprecated, Microsoft decided to update this list on 8/17/2017 to remove the ability to create new ReFS partitions outside of Windows 10 Enterprise or Windows 10 Pro for Workstation. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2017/08/microsoft-to-remove-full-refs-support-from-windows-10-pro-push-workstation-sku/ https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4034825/features-that-are-removed-or-deprecated-in-windows-10-fall-creators-up While I can understand that this is a feature that MS wants to tout as being for the Enterprise environment, I don't think that MS should be removing it as a feature from the consumer Windows 10 Pro as there are probably users of ReFS out there with a standard Windows Pro license. Especially odd move if MS wants to see any sort of wider spread adoption of ReFS outside of the enterprise space... Just as a note, I didn't see any of this mentioned in the prior Fall Creators Update thread or Windows 10 Pro for Workstation thread...

Hello. I am looking for a free Windows 10 Update speed limiter. Yes, I know all the tricks to stop updates, set connections as metered, changing gpedit (which does not affect anything btw) etc, etc. I have tried programs such as NetLimiter and NetBalancer which I really liked but they are too much (money and features) for my usage. I ONLY need to limit svchost.exe internet speed usage. Any tips please? This Windows 10 force update thing have been already out for a quite a long time, have not anyone still found a solution to get the updates but limit the traffic to desired speed ? If only I knew how to program I would make my own little program that does the job. PS. Other solution could be finding router with URL-based QoS to limit speed of all Windows Update servers (yes URL because no one can track all IPs they are using). If anyone knows any router with that function let me know please. HELP

I'm trying to update my windows 10 to the 1903 update but nothing I try is working. I don't understand what's going on because it's running fine on the 1803 update. To begin with the update would get to 40-45% then the PC would freeze. After a few troubleshooting steps it would reach 79% then freeze. Few more troubleshooting steps and it would freeze after restarting and reaching the 'working on update' screen. I've done some searching to try and fix the problem but nothing is working, here's what I've done so far: Uninstalled all applications I hardly ever use Run the troubleshooter to detect errors with windows updater (fixed nothing) Defragment all drives in my system (0% fragmented) Scanned drives for failures (100% verified) Reinstall display drivers Remove all USB devices except the keyboard and mouse Check BIOS version (already at most recent) Check if there's enough space on the boot drive (there is plenty) I've completely run out of ideas of what to do to fix it, is something in my system not compatible with the update? I was finishing off a web browsing pc build that hasn't got a dedicated gpu. I get into windows the first time with ease.I finish the setup and allow it to update, when the restart finishes I get a notice that does the typical old school DVD thing jumping across my screen saying "Input not support". I restart the system again same thing... I can boot into bios is there any way I can fix any resolution errors from here. (note this is currently plugged into my 32" widescreen monitor) Any ideas would be really helpful

guys! i was done updating my windows 10 version 1903. i think i updated some minor updates of the version 1903 (os build). after that, im trying to play dota 2 but suddenly its stop working. first it goes to its normal process which opens the game and go the loading screen of the game but after few seconds, it's stopped and totally terminated from the task manager. no error message from the game. i've tried to verify the game files integrity but still no luck. i already reinstall the game but when i open it again. it continues to the main menu of the game but after a few seconds it stop working again and close automatically. is it possible that the new update of the version 1903 (os build 18362.356) this is the latest os build version of my windows 10) affect the game or having some bugs that's why the game stop working after trying to open it? any opinion on this? thanks.

After the install of windows 10 update 1803 my dads pc got a problem after log in with his user (by typing his password). He is prompted to decide on whether to accept or decline some new options for windows 10 starting with "use speech recognition" option. The problem is that the UI is missing (blue screen with buttons) and it just shows a white screen with black text and only with an accept button as an option that doesn't even work when clicked. (see photos) I tried restarting but it prompted to the same screen after log in. Do you have any ideas? Has this happened to any of you?

So after installing the "emergency" update to Windows 10 on one of my machines, it rebooted and then immediately failed to load the boot device during the startup sequence. It gets the frowny blue screen of death and a message "inaccessible boot device". This tells me the System Reserved partition has been screwed around with by the update and now won't load Windows. It leads to me needing to run a repair install of Windows, or a Fix MBR type command line through a bootable USB. This is the THIRD TIME that Windows Update has killed this install on this computer, and the 5th time it has happened to me overall. After the second time I've made sure to have Restore Points created before updating, and I've even made full system backups of my primary computer for when it decides to do it on that one next. HOWEVER, when it goes through the Windows Automatic Repair sequence it can't find any restore points. So that was a waste of time. Is this common for others? Is there a preventative step I can take to stop it happening completely? WHY THE HELL DOES IT KEEP HAPPENING?!?!?!?! Chkdsk and Memtest all report perfectly healthy hardware.... WTF!

Hi, I've a Firewalled internet connection (Fortiguard web filter), which block my Steam, Microsoft services. Hence I can't update my Windows PC through Windows, So I'm downloading the ISO file of new Anniversary update and will install it with VHD/DVD/USB. Is it a good idea to do this? please suggest. Thanks.

It says I cant keep my apps because im trying to install on a different language than I have.
