Here is my Setup CPU : Ryzen 5600g Motherboard : Gigabyte B550m DS3H SSD : WD Green SN350 1TB GPU : Radeon 5600XT SSD is installed in the M2A slot. The problem i am facing is that the SSD is capable of operating at 4 PCIe lanes, but instead it only works at 2 lanes which reduces the overall throughput. I have gone through every single settings in bios but there is nothing that can force it to work at 4 lanes. This problem existed even before i installed a GPU So i know for a fact that the system is definitely not running out of PCIe lanes since i dont have anything installed that utilises PCIe apart from this SSD and GPU.

Soooo i fooked up. Any way to fix the plastic housing around the Sata connector? The pins are still straight so im hoping theres a way to recover the data even if its a short term fix while i transfer the data elsewhere. Help Me Obi Wan. The picture is not my HDD just to explain whats broken.

I have been looking at the WD Black SN770 M.2 for ages now, but I just found TEAMGROUP T-FORCE Z44A5 M.2 This has similar speeds and is a bit cheaper. Both are Gen 4 M.2 NVME SSDs so I know they both will be fast, but I am also looking at how long they might last or potential data storage issues. If you have experience with either of these 2 SSD I would appreciate you input.

Hello, I am looking to replace my old Toshiba 1TB HDD with something newer as it is showing it's age (bought ~2016). Since WD is mostly considered a solid option when it comes to home use I have decided to go with them, and I will use it mostly for archiving or bigger long term storage media. Now where I am confused are those names. They both seem to be exactly the same when it comes to buffer, storage and speed yet why are they named differently? Haven't found any place that would really explain the difference between them. The price difference is 1eur for them here locally. Could anyone maybe give an answer or advice? Your help is much appreciated.

Hi, I bought a brand new SN570 1TB SSD. I put it in the upper slot on Maximus IX extreme motherboard. But when I try to transfer larger files or download game from Steam, the whole system becomes almost irresponsible with write speeds only around 5MB/s. And speed test from crystaldiskmark are way smaller then what I found on the internet? I have the latest drivers installed. My system: CPU: i7-6700k MB: Asus maximus ix extreme ram: 2x HyperX fury 8GB Any idea how to fix that? Thanks!

So about 6 months ago I purchased what was advertised as an "external SSD" basically to use a s a storage drive on a pi4 NAS. I then changed my mind and used both the drive and the aforementioned pi4 for a new project (I'll make another post when finished) This new project is supposed to be portable and (semi) rugged. During my setup process I had to remove the SSD from the bulky plastic case. Upon doing so I was shocked to find that it was not in fact an ssd but rather a HDD. Western digital scammed me. P.s. ignore the velcro it was for the nas.

According to several Chinese forum posts and my own experience, some (if not the most) Western Digital SSDs have serious performance regression problems. The read performance of old data drops significantly on drives such as WD Blue SATA, SN500, SN550, SN700, SN750 etc. Users reporting this problem are experiencing very long game loading time, extremely slow copying speed and the initial test results showed that the read rate for old files could be as low as 5 to 20 MB/s. I myself experienced this issue while using a WD Blue SATA SSD for my PS4. Earlier this month I tried to play some old games which was on the drive since the SSD upgrade and never ever touched, in this case Devil May Cry 5 specifically. It felt very slow to load and to make things worse, it has cut scenes and loading screens everywhere. I didn't even remember the HDD to be that slow. Today I deleted and reinstalled the game then suddenly everything was back to normal. However, rewriting old files may not be a viable option for everyone. Optimally WD would release some form of a firmware update which move the data every several months automatically under the hood, but the WD China customer service didn't come back with relieving answers as for now. Has anyone also experienced similar problems? I've done some search but found nothing in the English-speaking community.

Hello, I am wondering what would be the best SSD for game storage, I already have a 1TB m.2 SN550 as a boot drive and storage for now and will be buying the samsung gen4 pcie SSD as the new boot drive whenever that is out which will take up all the m.2 slots on my x570 tomahawk. So in the meantime I am wondering what is the fastest 2TB or bigger SSD that is reasonable for a game drive? Any suggestions would be great. Hi, I'm building a buget gameing pc and I can't choose between the Intel 670p 1tb and the WD sn570 1tb, there both the same price, but I have seen linus using the 670p in his budget build. Witch one should I choose?

Summary Western Digital announced the Ultrastar DC HS760 20TB that has two actuators that work in parallel increasing the performance of the drive. They also say it uses les power than two separate drives despite the second actuator. Quotes My thoughts Seems like this could have been something that should be around all the time. I'm sure there were other HDD with 2 actuators but nothing I can think of recently. Maybe will finally be a cheaper solution to fast storage once the price drops. Hey Guys ! So I have this WD Easy Store Black 2 TB HD, that I was going to use for backup. Before Backup, I encrypted the drive.. well, started the Bitlocker encryption on it, but what is happening is, the encryption is still going on after about 3 days, it was at 55%, and the drive disappears from Windows.. even from Disk Management. The Drive LED is lit, not blinking, but the drive is nowhere to be found. I disconnected the drive and reconnected it, but still no luck. So, disconnected it and left it overnight. Next morning I connect it back up and it shows up, asking for the Bitlocker password. I put the password in and it is still encrypting, and is now at 60%, but within 5 mins, it does the disappearing act again. There is NO data on the drive yet ( Thank God ! otherwise I would be shitting bricks), but this behavior is not normal. I have encrypted other backup drives and have never had this issue before... So now my questions: Anyone know what the heck is going on?? 5 days for Encryption of a 2 TB drive...??? and still going... Can I stop the encryption and format the drive ? Why do you think the drive disappears from the PC? Things I have done: Changed the USB3 cable Checked on a different PC ( Actually 2 different PC's) Unchecked the Power management in USB Rooh Hub settings in Device Management for both USB1/2 and USB 3 How to tell if it is a drive issue or a bitlocker issue. I have a 13” MacBook Air (Early 2015) model which I bought during my college days which has only 128 GB internal storage. 128 GB was less and I didn’t want to spend as much money for the 256 GB upgrade, so since then I was using a Samsung Evo Plus 128 GB microSDXC card. I want to learn Photoshop now and when I installed the software, Photoshop kept saying that there isn’t space for caching. I cleared storage on my Mac but there was only so much that I could delete. I am also trying to learn Final Cut Pro X, so I installed the trial 2 days ago, and when I was trying to use it, I quickly ran out of space on the internal SSD. So I deleted the rendered files and the cache, and tried putting it on the 128 GB microSDXC card since I get a write of around 85 MB/s and read of 90-100 MB/s on it. That didn’t work for Photoshop and that only made the entire FCPX experience a lot slower. So I looked around a bit and found people suggesting to get an external SSD. I wanted to get the T5 from Samsung but that was way too expensive for my budget at the moment. I had an old Transcend 2.5” internal HDD/SSD enclosure casing. So I decided to buy an internal SSD and use the Transcend enclosure. Now, I want to keep the cost as low as possible, so I am considering only the cheapest SSDs out there right now. My choices currently are the WD Green 240 GB (SATA 3 Interface one), Kingston A400 240 GB and Crucial BX500 240 GB 3D NAND SATA. I looked at their spec-sheet but couldn’t make much out of it because the terms look very similar. Of the three, which do you think will offer the best performance in my particular case scenario? TL;DR: I need to buy a 2.5” SSD that I can use with my Transcend internal HDD/SSD enclosure and choices are the WD Green 240 GB (SATA 3 Interface one), Kingston A400 240 GB and Crucial BX500 240 GB 3D NAND SATA due to their low cost. I intend to use the drive to store Photoshop cache files and Final Cut Pro X render files. Which one would you suggest? Thanks for the help.

Hi, right now on my pc i have 1 ssd for OS and software, RAID0 2xWD blue 320gb each (Docs and games). and 2 green for movies and stuff. My question is if i would gain anything else than capacity if i replace the raid 0 with 1 tb WD Black(WD1002FAEX), or it woul be better to go for 2tb Blue instead (WD20EZRZ). Added the raid0 bechmak. Thanks EDIT Added 2 more captures, 2nd its raid clean after formating, and 3rd is with files back again. it gained a bit of speed. Would i get continuos speeds with black?
