First blog: Deciding on tools for my major
Marinatall_Ironside posted a blog entry in JurunceNK's Blog
Welcome to my first blog guys :) If you've viewed my profile already, you may have seen that I'm a college student majoring for video game design. But that also doesn't come with any obstacles that aren't easy to overcome. I need to be able to get the things needed to get my associates degree with a budget of ~$5,700. When I was thinking about "what tools do I really need to make this time swift and easy and that they'll last for a very long time?" When I was looking around on Amazon, I knew that I would need to get books for 3ds Max, Maya, Mudbox, Photoshop, ZBrush, and video game development. Also to add on top of that I would particularly need to grab a powerful-enough desktop or notebook whichever one I can get that will allow me to do some crazy things in those programs because I intend to create a total conversion mod to add to my professional portfolio so that I can land a job at Blizzard Entertainment, starting out as a 3D animator and ascend to become a video game director/developer. Also as a key peripheral that will allow me to do things quickly and easily without having to use the keyboard and mouse all the time, I want to grab myself a Wacom Cintiq 13HD graphics tablet as starters because it has great color accuracy, better drivers, and it's not so big, heavy, and extremely expensive. Okay now to get back on topic on computers, when I was looking on Amazon, I was thinking to myself "should I build a strong workstation, or grab a laptop so that I can do more wherever I'm at?" And those two things narrowed down to "custom workstation or an MSI GT80 Titan SLI?" I know this may get some to say "What?! :o Are you crazy? Are you going to be getting the top-end model which runs at $3,699?" No. I'm looking at the one with only 16GB of RAM because I feel like that should be plenty enough and I also do gaming as well so I also want to have a strong laptop as well so that I can max out games easily because I'm an ultra-settings gamer here. So what is your pick here for a PC? I also want to see what would be the best choice for me here as well so that I can fulfill my dreams. -
I have never drawn on any drawing Tablets other than Etchasketch. Thinking of exploring my long lost love for drawing but dont wanna make a mess with papers and Colors. Hence i was looking into Wacom tablets but i donno how much is worth spending to learn, and just want it to be a one time investment.

(4070 ti, GR driver v. 528.49) I noticed an issue in colors when opening Photoshop on my Cintiq 13 While the following is what that's supposed to look: Here's 2 other examples: However, if you look at the histogram and layer panels, the colors are displaying fine in there: I have no Idea what's going on, the tablet is connected via HDMI, But it's being detected as DVI, so it's displaying a limited color gamut, however, It's still dispplaying the colors just fine in other apps like windows photos: What's going on?

I would like to make it so that when I'm holding the pen above the screen it disables touch input so that I can rest my hand on the screen while I'm writing. My laptop does have the ability to detect the pen when it's near the display, and I'm pretty sure it used to disable touch input on Windows, but it doesn't seem to do that on Ubuntu, meaning I have to hold my hand in the air while writing, which is uncomfortable. I would be grateful if anyone could provide any advice on either how I could achieve this, or just disable the touchscreen in general so I can create my own script to disable it when the pen is detected --- System Details --- Laptop: Thinkpad Yoga S1 OS: Ubuntu 22.10 Gnome Version: 43.1 Windowing System: Wayland Wacom: Wacom ISDv4 EC

Hey all, I've been using my Intuos Pro small with my macbook pro and Win10 PC for a year or two now, but I noticed recently, that while I'm hovering in Illustrator or Photoshop my cursor will rapidly switch between the standard Mac cursor and whatever tool I have in the program. When the tip of the pen touches the tablet, then the switching stops. Is that normal, and if not what can I do to correct it?

So I need an on-the-go computer/tablet for notes and drawing, I'm not a fan of stand alone graphics tablets, and carrying one device is so much easier when sketching and note taking on the go. I'm currently using an i5 x220 tablet and it's decent, but it's heavy as can be as a tablet, gets really hot (around 90c w/ fresh thermal paste), 3.5 hour battery life on power saver (can't actually easily do work when enabled), chugs in basic Photoshop and larger clip studio tasks, and the motherboard has had some issues and I'm ready to retire the thing. With a budget of around $450-$500 (trying to come as low under that as possible), I'm trying to find something with a 1080p or better display, Wacom digitizer (n-trig digitizers, like on the surface pro 3 and dell tablets, have a fair number of issues like odd pressure curves, non-smooth wobbly lines, etc), and is able to run Photoshop CC nicely. Right now I'm looking at the Surface Pro 2 (around $250 on eBay) or a thinkpad helix (prices vary), they're reasonably priced and use Wacom digitizers, but the size and lack of repairability of the SP2 and the performance of the helix concern me. Anyone know of any better devices with built-in digitizers that meet these criteria without being TOO cheap? The Cube i7 is also out of the equation since it's a non-serviceable tablet with almost no company support, so if something happens, there's not a lot that can be done. TL:DR With a budget of $450-$500, what are some good Wacom pen enabled devices that has a minimum of a 1080p display and can easily run Photoshop and programs alike? (I'm also willing to buy older used or refurbished devices if the price is good)

Hi, Just lost my wacom pen for my CTH-470k tablet. Just been looking on the internet for the same one and had no luck. I found some great pens like " Wacom Intuos4 grip pen " and wondering if it will work with my tablet. Cheers.

Since the Wacom Cintiq Companion (Gen 1) is closest to a laptop in topic, I'll post here. My question is: does anyone know if you're able to somehow use the companion as a monitor with a desktop pc instead of by itself? I've tried to ask Wacom Support, but I've gotten as many answers as there are colors of the rainbow. Thanks to anyone for the help.

The Lenovo Yoga 720 is compatible with the new Wacom G13 pens that should be coming out soon, along with the Lenovo Active Pen 2. I have been looking all over for a release date everywhere, but I'm not turning anything up. Does anyone know anything about the G13 or a similar pen that is compatible with the 720 and offers similar pressure levels? I would like a programmable button or 2

For some reason after my Wacom Cintiq Pro 13 updated today, my Krita drawing program made my pen uncalibrated when I'm drawing. Like the cursor would be fine outside of Krita but when I go to draw the actual line drawn would be offset a couple of centimeters this made drawing very frustrating. To temporarily solve this problem, I went into the pen calibration in the Wacom settings and offset the 4 points and that worked for Krita, but now my cursor is offset, Any ideas to what happened?

Hey, I have a wacom tablet which I use to play the game osu! ( yeah I'm a weeb deal with it) and I was wondering if it was possible to overclock the tablet to 1000hz. I saw some guides but I'm really too lazy to read them all and I just want a definite and quick solution. The tablet is probably around 120-200hz right now and it's laggy sometimes. Thanks for the quick response. The tablet by the way is a wacom ctl-490.

Hey so I'm torn between which model of cintiq to get, I can't make up my mind its driving me crazy. I'm looking at the Cintiq Pro 16 and the Cintiq 27 QHD. So for the most part the hard decision making comes down to the QHD being way bigger but the Pro 16 being higher resolution (and then there's obviously the price difference). I'd be using it for 3D animation and drawing. My thinking for the QHD is well obviously because its big, I think this will especially be beneficial with 3D software where there's a lot of ui elements and floating windows, on the other hand I'm worried 1440p over 27 inches won't be high enough resolution for doing subtle movements. Then with the Pro 16 basically the opposite, I think the way higher DPI will be great for small details, but that 16 inches won't be big enough in some cases. I've never owned a cintiq before so I'm not sure what aspects of the screen are most important. So just based on what I've said so far I'd be inclined to get the QHD, but there are two other things that crossed my mind. One being the pro pen 2 that comes with the Pro 16 vs the older pen that comes with the QHD, do the new features like the 8192 pressure levels make it noticeably different? And the other thing being the QHD came out over 2 years ago and I'm afraid right after I buy it Wacom will announce a 4k version of the 27 QHD and I'll be stuck with the 1440p version. Is that a possibility or am I completely off base? Any input is appreciated thanks!

So I'm looking at buying a pen display. I assume Wacom has the best displays and particularly 16 inch cintiq pro model seems to me the best for the money. I've never owned or even tried a pen display before though so I wanted to ask if there are any better options out there? Thanks. also as a side note, why tf is wacom's biggest most expensive model 1440p while they have another model that's like half the size and half the price that is 2160p

Which Wacom do you guys think is better? I'm able to get one of these for Christmas and I want to hear your guys' opinion on each; while the Wacom Cintiq Pro 13 is the latest and greatest, I would like to know if the ~200 dollar jump from a Wacom Cintiq 13HD is really worth it. Anyone have experiences with either?

wacom Windows (Wacom) Tablet as Pressure sensitive PC monitor
BhMbOb posted a topic in Phones and Tablets
Hi, I recently bought a wacom enabled tablet (Cube I7 Stylus) and have been looking for a program which would enable use of this on my main PC. I've seen a few programs which allow tablets to be used as touch screens on a PC,but was wondering if anyone knew of a program which would allow Pressure Sensitivity and as little input lag as possible. Thanks for the help! -
I do a lot of photo editing and content creation in Photoshop. Was shopping through these and I'm reading about issues with resolution and whatnot. I'm using a GTX 1080 with a 27" 2K monitor. Which of these tablets would suit me the best. Price range 300-450 US

I was thinking about getting a graphics tablet for 3D sculpting specially in zbrush. I've been learning Blender for several month, but now trying to learn likeness sculpting in zbrush but most of the people are saying "get a graphics tablet" I didn't know much about graphics tablet, but in my budget i chose some tablet, (keep in mind the price is almost double in my country) 1. One by WACOM – Medium (8.5 x 5.3 in 2k pressure point) 2. Wacom Intuos S (6.0 x 3.7 in 4k pressure point) 3. HUION H640P (6.3 x 3.9inch 8k pressure point) Soooo which one should i get? i really liked the one by wacom medium since it's kinda bigger then other those, but is has only 2k o pressure point. and my question is is 2k pressure enough? or should i get that 4/8k pressures tablet? and since i'm using 22inch 1080p monitor 6.0 x 3.7inch is enough? or that 8.5 x ,,,,,, is good for me ? maybe don't suggest other than these two company,

So I got a surface pro(forgot which generation tho) and a desktop with much better hardware. Sometimes photoshop will crash on my surface while I am drawing which is quite frustrating so I am thinking if I can use my surface like a Cintiq? I know you can use some kind of remote desktop software or the second screen feature that comes with Windows but those are not desirable because I am still using my surface's hardware. Ideally I would like to use surface just as an pen input and a display, and my desktop will handle all the rendering and processing. Is this even possible? Cintiq are quite expensive and I am not sure if I want to spend that much money now on this. Thanks in advance!

I use a pen tablet (Wacom) sometimes for working, and I have the buttons on my pen set to do other commands that I use more often, however, it would be great if I was able to hold control on my keyboard (or any other key) + tap with my pen to be able to do a Right click, just like you are able to do it on iMacs. Is this possible? I was looking into AutoHotKey, but it looks like it's not something that can be set and left running, more like I would have to do a keystroke to do a right click, which is not what I'm after. I'm on Windows 10 up to date. Any help would be greatly appreciated! PS: I know I can use the Express Keys on the tablet but the way I work this would mean switching either my right hand to press one of the keys or my left which is further away because I set my keyboard (full size) next to my Wacom, so it's a lot of hand movements for every time i want to right click, where the way i'm after I just have to move my left thumb and not switch my right hand position.

Hi, I've recently started using my Wacom again and I've gone ahead and reinstalled the drivers. Everything works fine, but when I use the pen to move the cursor the pointer/photoshop brush etc goes invisible. I move my mouse and it re-appears. Any ideas?

So, the budget is 275$. I would like to get a graphics tablet in June this year. I'm still deciding which one I should get. I was thinking of getting the Wacom Intuos Medium, put I'm not entirely sure if that's the right decision to make. I would use the tablet to draw mostly frames for animations and other drawings. If you got a better recommendation, tell me below. All recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thanks to everybody in advance!
