Hey Everyone I'll start University again this Fall. For this I want to purchase a new Laptop, since my Gen 1 Surface Book (Performance Edition) that I bought in 2018 probably won't last me that long anymore, first and foremost the battery life. I definitely want a 2-Display Laptop, since I always hated writing papers and multitasking multiple windows on 1 screen. Now the question is: What would you guys go for? What Brand is more reliable? Any experience with the devices already? How is pricing in your country? Here in Switzerland it's almost double the MSRP for the Zenbook lmao Pros Zenbook: -Better Processor Available -Keyboard with Trackpad (and backlight) -Can be stored as a whole in Backpack -More Ports (I hate dongles) Cons Zenbook: -Only folds to 180° -Uglier -Takes up more depth it seems in "stacked" mode Pros Yoga Book: -Beautiful -Folds 360° to Tent & Tablet Mode -Compact Keyboard Cons Yoga Book: -Touch Trackpad sounds awful -Less Performance -Cluttery Storage prone to loosing Kickstand/Keyboard -(Foldable Kickstand might be flimsy?) Thanks for the Insight!

LTT Fam, Moving over to Apple eco system - now the question(s) is: Is it better to buy a M1 Macbook Air and then doc it to my desktop setup OR buy a M1 Mac Mini dedictaed to desktop and have a lower spec laptop for travel (limited these days due to pandemic)? I thought maybe I could save money by buying the laptop and a good docking station or usb-c hub Is there a user experience difference in using an Apple laptop vs. desktop? Any issues connecting to dual monitors? Context: I have an asus RogSTRIX G550 - its huge (pictured on the left under my desk), i'm docking it now to my desktop setup with dual monitors and I have a Macbook Air 2016 I use for travel (it's slow but good enough). Sometimes when I really need to do work on the go, I'll take the Asus - its bloody heavy and barely fits in my laptop bag. And it's absolutly brutal to reconnect all the usb c's etc. It's not elegant and i'm ready to be a grown ass person and have a proper work setup.

I've always been a "buy the old used or refurbed" guy since I can remember, but that is mainly because I couldn't afford anything else. I still lean heavily towards going for older generations of phones because of value, but I'm having trouble deciding on whether I should purchase my first brand new phone, or go for a used one yet again. I like the looks of the Oneplus 7T. Brand new it's going for $400, and I've found a used model for $200. Would saving the initial $200 make up for 2 years of initial wear on the phone? Interested to see opinions, or even other phone suggestions if I'm way off base considering the 7T. Thanks!

What's the difference? I'd like to believe that G-Sync would be better due to having an actual physical module in the monitors But every time I look up this kind of question, the blogs come down to "It depends" or something similar... What's the clear answer to this question?
-
I used to play on 1440p 60hz monitors for well over a decade, it wasn't until last year that I bought a 1440p 144hz (165hz OC) monitor. Personally speaking, I mostly feel the difference when playing games such a League of Legends or games where the FPS goes well above 200+, otherwise... on games where my FPS bounces between 100 - 144, I don't feel as comfortable as when I was locked at 60. I'm aware that upgrading the GPU would fix the issue, so let's skip that part. I've noticed a bunch of people opting for 4k 60hz gaming, (putting the resolution aside) they seem to enjoy 60 FPS. So what's the point of throwing more money in order to enjoy 120+ FPS?

By surround-sound system I mean for example, 2.1 or 5.1 speaker systems. Are soundbars far behind them in terms of sound quality or are they similar?

So if we were to absolutely ignore the prices, why would you pick one over the other? I'm just curious

So which one worth the buy? Don't really do much photography whit phone and no gaming. Best one for everyday use. Both are same price point in my country, around 850 euros for 128gb models. Currently using MI 11 ultra 256gb, loved the miui, but latest 14, is trash, promised a lot of changes, got nothing as usual Have had oneplus 8t in past, liked the oxygenOS back then, are there a lot of changes? Tnx for help

I have a conundrum. I'm still a long way off before I purchase these components (I won't be hired until the pandemic is over), but I'm still wavering between the cost and benefits of upgrading to a higher-end graphics card. Some background on my goals; I'm currently planning my next build which will be an upgrade from a prebuilt Acer Predator with an i7, GTX 1070, and 32 GB of RAM. My budget is below $1900. I'm not physically monetarily constrained, but psychologically. I really, really don't want to go past $18 or $19 hundred. Regarding gaming... I'm obsessive... not to the point of full OCD, but I am super agitated when I can't get the best version of something. I run a 144 Hz Acer Predator TN-panel that I run using the low-latency 120 Hz option and I primarily play FPS and action games. For sound, I use a pair of 2016 Astro A50s which make me want to murder those who talked me into buying them. TL;DR - Build Goals: $$$ = below $1900 Performance = Superior Games = FPS and Action My conundrum comes in that I can't decide whether to get a "tricked-out" 2070 SUPER system with superior storage and airflow, or a 2080 Ti system that I can upgrade, later on. 2070S system: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/kvpg4n 2080 Ti system: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8vFZHB Side notes: I have already purchased a Gold+ 750 watt power supply. I'd like to keep the storage amount the same (i.e. 1 TB SSD, 2 TB physical). Case stays. I chose the board due to its high ranking on the LTT forum list and its decent price. I would not be willing to downgrade the board's chipset (570 to 470) as that would mean I'd need to spend more in upgrading in a few years. I am terribly addicted to getting the best performance. I get hives (jokingly) from choosing budget options, but I do take them if the argument is sound. Which is the crux of the issue: I can get sub-par components... but the frames... I want the frames...

Hoping someone can draw up a comparison between the performance of previous generations of cards versus the newer, very cheap 1050 Ti (~$150). A redirection to a link detailing performance benchmarks under various loads would be a godsend. CUDA Cores, processor and memory speed, newer vs old GPU architecture. These concepts are new to me. What do I need know? Explanations as to why one GPU would be considered superior to another at one task, while being a lesser contender in another avenue would be much appreciated. Specific to my situation, I'm currently running my gaming desktop on an EVGA 960 FTW ACX 2.0. My main question is, is there any reason to consider upgrading?

I currently have the Dell XPS 15 l502x from 2010, which is very bulky but fast, with a 2.5ghz processor and 500gb of storage. I have a really nice desktop at home, but wanted to buy a cheap laptop for internet browsing and other basic tasks for school or just for on the go; i'm only looking for a new laptop in order to replace my current laptop, which weighs a ton. I am researching into an old Dell XPS 13 l321x, with a 1.6ghz processor and 128gb of storage, just what I need for the basics in a computer. I have also been looking into cheap chromebooks for the simplicity of them, since they're VERY lightweight and offer just what I need for a basic computer. If I was to compare the $200 Dell XPS 13 l321x from ebay to a new chromebook around $200, would the Dell benefit my needs more than a chromebook from today? Here is the XPS I have been looking at: https://tinyurl.com/ybo63aoh

Hello everyone and thank for stopping by. I have a very specific question. Which monitor would you buy? The options: Asus VG248QZ 144hz 1ms Full HD (it is the cheap version of the Asus VG248QE which has Freesync, so this model would be as basic as it gets) Acer KG241 Pbmidpx 144hz 1ms Full HD Freesync (i have a Nvidia GTX 1060 so it will not be fully compatible with freesync since it is not oficially listed as G-Sync compatible) Both are the same price, so this wouldn't be a factor. Thank you.

Intel Atom N270 vs Mediatek MT6580? :o
Nena Trinity posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Which of these two CPUs are faster? :3 -
Both are $150 but I don't know which one is better in terms of performance and thermals. Unfortunately, there's hardly any videos or reviews on the B550 Plus in order to compare it. The X570-P is about a year old now while the B550 released in June 2020; also, the B550 Plus has more features than the X570-P. Thoughts on which is better? I'm planning to build a PC,and i don't really know what GPU to buy, i don't know if i should buy the RX 560 4GB OC Version, or the GTX 1050 ti, in my country (Philippines), their prices are almost the same, the RX 560 4GB OC (Gigabyte) is P8,950 ($167.30) and the GTX 1050 ti (Zotac Mini) is P8,690 ($162.44), their price difference is not huge, so i'm asking you guys to which of the two GPU's is the most worth it to buy. Hey LTTForum Currently sitting on an EVGA 600BQ and was wondering if anyone was using a Super Flower Golden King 550W? Reason for me asking this is that I can't find other reviews than some from 2011/2012~ and I've just started casually mining on my 1080ti every now and then when I don't use the PC so I was thinking of upgrading the PSU efficiency But won't put money where I have no clue if they're of decent quality or not. But at the same time, been 6-7 years since 2011/2012 and maybe the EVGA one is on par with the Super Flower GK with today's tech? Or am I wrong? -Sid.

So i'm struggling on deciding between getting the i7 8700 or the i7 8700k. [ If i were to get the non K chip, i most likely wouldn't be too upset not being able to overclock. On the contrary, if i got the K chip, i would most definitely overclock. So either works for me. ] Now in my country, the i7 8700 + Cooler Master 212 is around $500 together, meanwhile the i7 8700k + NH-D15S is around $640. My main question - What are the noticeable differences between the non K and K chip in terms of performance other than the extra GHz? Is it worth the extra $140 or not? Thank you!

I've made my final choice on my brand of headphone always loved British German and Japanese headphones but prefer the Jap overall. Now the decision on the type. I've locked down the 2 models and just need help on the 500v700 and open v closed choice. I use these at home while gaming. Editing and basic audio mixing. On the bus in the car and at uni in common areas where sometimes can be loud or whisper quiet. I've used open drivers on the plantronic 500 E gaming headset and loved them but I don't want to have feedback via my blue yetti or modmic and disrupt other student while I edit in class. How much leakage is there really as the plantronic was Minimal.

Ok so I've ordered all the parts I need for my new pc I'm building, except for the operating system. This is my first build, and I really don't understand the "system builder" OEM Windows 7 copies. I would honestly rather have Windows 7 instead of Windows 10, not only because of the privacy-invading features. But I've seen a lot of threads about people having problems with Windows 10, which makes sense because it's new, but I've heard some people say that it is basically breaking things. Like their computer crashing during the install, and it won't start up after it. Also some people having problems with certain games, and other programs. And honestly, I don't like knowing that Microsoft is sending information back and forth from me, not only creepy, but it takes up bandwidth. I know they could do it on any of their Windows versions, but I know Windows 7. I don't know Windows 10. I've watched a video on how to turn all of the options off, but in the same video, after and update some of them were turned back on without notifying the person. Which I don't think is right. At least tell the person. But really I'm just trying to get opinions on this, Windows 10 is just putting me off a little bit atm because of the privacy-intruding and also the bugs and glitches with it. But it does have support, and is guaranteed to be a legit key. The system builder copies of Windows 7 also put me off because there is no support if anything goes wrong, and also I don't know the difference between the ones that say "Intended for distribution with new PC's only" and "Intended for distribution with refurbished PC's only". I'd assume that the new PC copy is for those of us building our own PC, but people have mixed feelings on the subject from what I've seen and read. Also, what are the drawbacks of each? I know the system builder copies are tied to the motherboard, which honestly is fine with me. But can you upgrade them? Like in the future if I want Windows 10, can I upgrade? Or if there's a new Windows later on? And does Microsoft recognize it as a legit copy of Windows? I've seen some people that have had problems with the product key that they come with, but I imagine it is just the reliability of the seller. But I don't really know. I really don't know which to go with, because they both worry me in different ways. So what should I do?
