Hello users of the LTT forum, after a lot of reseating and troubleshooting I finally decided to try another PSU since my vega wasn't giving me a display signal. I replaced my immaculate Straight Power 10 600 Watt Gold Efficiency PSU, which has been powering a much more power hungry GPU for about a year now, with a 450W System power 7. And this hail mary worked for some reason. I'm sort of confused and also pissed since I wasted so much time on troubleshooting and cannot fathom why the vega only accepts my crappy 10 year old PSU. I'm also not entirely sure whether I can now be certain that the GPU is fine since I've been planning to sell it if I got it to work. Any input is appreciated, the card has been running Doom Eternal/Forza Horizon in 4k without issues for multiple hours now. Pictured below: the GPU in question and the AMD Software while Doom is running. Greetings from Germany, Kevin

AMD’s Vega wasn’t the most powerful GPU in the world, but they had some plans for it that never saw the light of day. Now that we’ve got one of the axed cards, was it for the best? Hello, Does anyone know the retail counterpart to the prototype "golemit" motherboard seen during Vega's 2017 CES show? Timestamp 2:37. I believe this could be a gigabyte motherboard, though do need confirmation. TIA

I was trying to fix an issue where my second monitor would go black, but still be detected, so I opened “restart64” from the Vega soft power play tables, and I restarted my card, which did nothing, then I hit “recovery mode”. Both of my monitors went black, and now whenever I boot up my PC my monitors go dark upon hitting the windows lock screen (I know for a fact that it’s a driver problem). All commands to try and install the drivers via a windows update in the CLI have done nothing (I can still get to the recovery screen). I am clueless as to what to do now.

Hi I have a MSI Vega 64 Wave (Liquid cooled) that has recently just started to shut down when put under load (eg. games, folding, benchmarks). When this happen I get a signal loss on the monitors and all the power LEDs on the GPU goes dark (there should be at least one glowing as long as its powered on). The pc continues to run and I still get sound from videos and such, but no picture on the monitors, and I have to restart the PC to get picture back. It works just fine with just regular non-demanding use such as watching videos and internet browsing. Sometimes it works for a while during games, but mostly it just shuts right off. Both Windows, the Radeon software and other drivers is fully updated. The GPU is connected to PSU with two seperate 8-pin connectors, and i have checked that everything is fully connected and seated in the respective sockets. I recently upgraded the CPU and MB from a R7 3700X w/ MSI X370 Gaming Pro Carbon to what is noted below, but the system ran fine for weeks after that. The temperatures is fine with around 50-60C for the GPU and 60-70C for the memory under heavy load (the times where it actually works), and the full system draws around 650W at full tilt (measured at the wall), so I should think a 850W PSU would be enough. After this started happening I thought the Liquid metal i had on the GPU might have spilled and causing trouble, so I opened it up and replaced the liquid metal with regular paste. There was no sign of spillage, and replacing it didnt fix the issue. I also replaced the pads (side note: I'll never using liquid metal again. its such a pain to use and clean up, and didn't give any noticeable temperature difference. So basicly not worth it) Anyone have any Idea whats going on or how to fix it? Hi to anyone reading this, I just bought a 240mm aio (I think the pump's an Asetek 4th gen unit) for my reference vega 56 (you can probably guess why), and realised that there aren't enough fan headers on the motherboard to connect both the fans (2x Noctua nf-f12) and pump into the motherboard. I'm also keeping the blower fan on the gpu, as I'm going to use it to provide cooling for the VRMs, so plugging either of these into the header on the card isn't an option. I do have a molex to 2 pin (there is a hole for, but no third pin on it) adapter though, which I can use to plug either the fans or pump into. From what I've seen online so far, most aio pumps run at 100% all the time, but I can't help wonder then why they have a third pin (as on case fans this is used only for DC fan control as far as I'm aware), and so whether using a 2 pin adapter is safe or recommended. Of course I'd want to be able to control the fans on the radiator as well if possible, as even using the low noise adaptors, the fans are quite audible.

Nowadays for most peoples best options, you can get an iGPU (Vega 7 in this case,) or get a cheap GPU like the GT 1030. Which is the best for short-term? GT 1030 is more expensive, but maybe more powerful, idk. Vega 7 is only on the 5600G, but people say it’s fine. Which one is better for the “short-term can’t get a GPU?”

What is the difference between Vega 7 graphics, (5600G) and UHD 730 graphics? (11400) They seem similar, but is there any difference, or which one is faster and better value?

I bought RedmiBook 13 Ryzen 4700u and i ve been very happy with it until windows update changed my driver and without OEM driver my laptop accts so weird when you want it to go to sleep it just restarts and it's because drivers. When i uninstall drivers everything works normal but looks weird. I would love if someone with the same laptop could send me OEM drivers. I would be very thankful. Thanks

In the same system. Is this possible or is it a dueling banjos problem like quadro and GTX cards. Just doing it did not seem to work, or I did things in the wrong order IDK. I am doing this as a workaround to the differing refresh rate flicker ("known issue" with Vega) problem with a 1440P ultrawide @100Hz and a 60 Hz Planar GX2MP 1600x1200. So one display per card. Vega->DP->UW-1440p and WX4100->Active-DVI->GX2MP yes, I have a full-height bracket on order, but... It worked by itself when attached to the monitor. A quadro NVS card (256 or 512MB ram) I pulled from a drawer fixed the flicker but did not like anything over 480p youtube (choppy) So a procedure would be nice. -Thank you.

So, I have a defective MSI Vega 64 Wave just laying around. I have replaced it recently, but I still dont know what exactly is wrong with it, but it shuts down under load. See seperate thread here: But the question is, does any of you know if the PCB on it is reference design or if its specific to that model? Meaning can the cooler be mounted and work on a different card.

is the vega 7 of the 5600g better than the vega 11 of the 3400g? the vega 11 has more CUs with running at lower speeds while the vega 7 has lesser CUs running at higher speeds i have never seen anyone benchmarking both of these and comparing them...i am trying to get a new build with a RYZEN APU (everything is set except for the CPU....like if its the 5600g i have to wait till august) i know that the 5600g has better CPU...but then just i want to know which one performs better as an APU Good day

Hi guys and gals, First time poster here, looking for advice. I’m building a retro gaming mini pc for my fiancée and want some help. I’m torn between 4 options and 2 price points. All will have to run up to PS2/Wii era games, though nothing newer. I’m looking at 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD to keep things smooth but affordable. I have two aliexpress options, but I don’t know how reputable that would be. A Maxtang fanless PC with a R5 2500U at https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001192345476.html? or a T-Bao MN27 with a R7 2700U at https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001270382262.html? Tech tablets has looked at the T-Bao MN series so I can kind if vouch for it working, but I’m unsure of customs duties and whatnot. They are about £100-£150 cheaper than the other 2 options, which covers peripherals like controllers, Wii remotes and a sensor bar. The other options are the Asus PN50 which I can buy as a barebones kit that has a 4500U, which is appealing due to the retailer being UK based, where I live. Or the Lenovo M75q gen 2, which has more power using a 4650G, and has a full Windows 10 home license included, but doesn’t look as nice. Since it’s a gift and it will sit in the living room I’m leaning to the PN50, but what do you think about the other options? Any advice appreciated. I’ve attached some 3D mock-ups of the unit it’s going in with the CPU info and sizes to scale. Thanks for your advice! Ant.

Budget (including currency): 800 Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Adobe Premiere, Doom Eternal, Ableton, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe After effects, Phasmophobia, Risk of Rain 2, Civ 6 Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): The new build is on a Asrock B550m Pro 4 board, with a phantecs 650 watt gold PSU, 3200 mhz cl 16 ballistics ram, and (most recently) a Vega 64 FE. My monitor is sceptre 1440p 85hz. I have a pretty mixed workload between workstation and gaming, so when I saw that beautiful blue Vega 64 with its supposed work station pedigree and 16 gigs of vram I became tempted. I paid 260 for it, which I think is a pretty good deal, but I'm a bit worried I opened a can of worms. I wasn't aware of the gaming driver woes at the time of purchase, and I'm worried a bit about this power hungry card in my small Matx dark flash 21 mesh case. Anyways, wondering what kind of bumps and bugs I should expect on my path to getting this card to run smoothly, as well as what CPU I should pair with it given my workloads and power supply limitation. I was thinking maybe either the ryzen 3600, 3700x or 5600x. If there are any other Vega 64 owners out there I'd love to chat about what to expect, and how to best tweak the card to being as stable as possible. I've never done any undervolting or anything before so I'd love to hear about the risks/rewards.

Hey everyone, So I upgraded from a GTX 970 to a Vega56 back in September and all was fine for a couple of weeks but then my PC started crashing in all sorts of ways. In the time since then I've determined that it's almost certainly an issue with either the new graphics card or the power supply. I'm hoping that maybe someone here could give some guidance on any tests I can do to narrow things down further. Full PC specs: Core i5 4670K Corsair H100i Pro ASUS Z87 Deluxe 16GB of Patriot Viper 2133Mhz (@1600Mhz for stability) MSI Vega 56 Boost ASUS Xonar DX Crucial MX100 SSD Western Digital WD2003FYPS HDD Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold PSU So far, taking the graphics card out and just running on the Intel graphics seems to stop my PC from crashing at all. The strange thing to me is that I can run the graphics card during a stress test with Prime95 and Furmark for several hours without it overheating or crashing. The problems started with the entire PC bluescreening or hanging completely but as time has gone on and I guess with more troubleshooting, the problem seems to occur at any time, doing anything at all - even just looking at a static web page with nothing else running at all. Within the last couple of weeks/months I've: Re-installed windows Ran DDU in safe mode repeatedly Re-installed old AMD drivers Re-installed new AMD drivers Installed drivers manually without the Adrenaline software Re-installed ASUS audio drivers Disconnected all peripherals Re-seated the graphics card several times Tried both overclocking and underclocking the GPU Tried both overclocking and underclocking the CPU Ran games with various settings (windowed, low resolution, low texture quality, etc.) Ran games from different sources and with different ages. It seems that some days I can go the entire day without seeing an issue, and then others I find my PC to be barely usable. Two things that may be clues as to what is going on - With the graphics card installed, connecting anything to the front I/O will cause the screen to go blank as though it's shorting something. The only way to get working again is a hard reset. - Sometimes when the PC is woken up, the screen will return slightly scrambled in that, the image will be repeated maybe 8 times across the display and it will show artifacting across most of the image. Any help would be greatly appreciated as right now, it's not so easy for me to just get a replacement card. Thanks.

First of all this is my first post and I don't know if I'm posting this on the right section of the forum, so don't flame me too hard, also second language English. I have since I updated my drivers to Adrenaline 2020 version 20.2.0 or something similar I have been getting instability issues everytime I play Fortnite, sometimes it crashes and says "Video Drivers Error", other times it BSODs with the stop code "Memory Management" or "Reference by Pointer", and most times it shuts of completely out of nothing. I have tried going back to the old drivers, uninstalling and reinstalling the game, updating Windows, tweaking the BIOS and nothing seems to fix the problem, please help. Here is an example of the errors that have been happening:

im trying to mod a reference vega64 with a much more powerful fan. replaced blower with new fan. wired new fans PWM wire to GPU. the fan speed changed with Radeon software fan curve BUT it was inverted. eg: as the GPU gets hotter, the fan spins slower. Radeon software wont let you go from fast to slow, so I cant just invert the fan curve to make it work. is there anyway around this like an alternative software or a registry edit or something? I would be extremely grateful for any advice or suggestions on this because ive been working on this project for months and am so close to making it work.

So I buy a used Vega 64 for my friend who wants a gaming PC and I get greeted with this when I go to repaste the GPU die. The card appears to still work though has significant chipping to both the edge and centre of the die (Yes it is perfectly clean and has been fervently wiped), a problem which manifests gradually over time I believe, and whilst it isn't an issue now could soon become one, and whilst if it was me I would take the risk of keeping the GPU until it eventually broke, though my friend is tech illiterate and I live far enough away from him that troubleshooting/ parts replacement would be really inconvenient. So the question is, do I return the GPU under eBay's infamous buyer protection under an "item not as described" case or not? I hate doing that to people but he obviously knew about the damage as the paste had only recently been replaced and the card has an aftermarket cooler on it anyway, and it looks as if its only going to get worse in terms of damage. The chips aren't catastrophic but there are lots of them and the one on the edge is of particular concern to me as it's quite significant. I probably would feel better returning it because I'm putting a Carbonaut pad on here so he doesn't have to repaste at all, and I need the whole thing to be as low maintenance as possible, and a fault like that could even take the rest of his PC whilst he's at it. Thanks

Hello peeps, hope everyone doing all right during corona time. I bought yesterday a Asus Strix Vega 56 and it has a 8+8 Pin power connector so my unbranded chinese psu is out of the question. Unfortunately PSU here in my country are expensive and only good price i could find was for a 700W Red Dragon semi modular Bronze certified. Now ive read that the vega 56 needs minimum a 500W PSU but the asus official website says Recommended is 750W. What does this mean? Can the PC turn on with the PSU knowing its less than the recommended Wattage? Will that break any component beside the PSU (mobo, cpu, gpu, ram blabla)? Should i go for a 750/800W? Thanks alot peeps

Hello guys, I've a Ryzen 3 2200G paired with Corsair LPX 3000MHz 16GB ram and a Aorus B450M motherboard. I was trying to overclock my rig, so I started with CPU. I reached to 3.9 GHz on 1.3 CPU voltage (stable), anything above that resulted in crash. So I bumped up the voltage to 1.39 to achieve 4.0GHz (stable). But when I apply any overclock to the GPU after keeping the CPU @ 4GHz, the system crashes. (Under stress test). I'm doing all this on stock cooler (I was going to buy one, but Covid-19..) Months ago I was able to hit 4.2GHz CPU and 1650MHz on GPU at 96C stable, (I know 96 is very high) but now my system is not even letting me apply these settings(crashes). Any suggestions what component and how to overclock without any issues?

Hey everyone, I'm looking for some advice. I've been thinking about it for a while, but while playing Modern Warfare 2 Remastered, my graphics card's clock speeds were all over the place - causing stutters and spikes in game (Even though it was reporting a solid 144fps). My current GPU is a Vega 56 Strix (I've tried overclocking and undervolting which works fine until the it starts to mess with the clock speeds). It has also been artifacting quite heavily on dark backgrounds (and only dark for some reason), such as in Discord - my screen will look like its playing space invaders one minute and the next its fine. I recently re-pasted it with Arctic Mx 5 hoping that would alleviate some of the issues, and while it did bring temps down a little, it didn't do too much. So I think a GPU upgrade is in the works - and I'll keep this one to one side for the encoder or use it in a different system that is not in heavy use or just as an emergency fall-back. So, I'm looking at for a new GPU but don't know what I should get - however, I'd like it to meet these criterias (or as close to as possible): Support at least 3 monitors (at least 1 DP and 2 HDMI) Can be from any vendor (as my 144hz freesync monitor is g-sync compatible) Less power usage than the Vega 56 as my room is constantly like a sauna (8ftx8ft room) Ray-Tracing would be nice, but not essential Preferably a 2-slot card (so I can access the PCI-e slot down (my Strix is currently covering that slot) Budget - No more than ~£330 (+/- £20) Thanks for reading and any advice you can provide.

Before anyone says crossfire is not worth it most of the games I play support it + Vega 64s are getting cheaper and they are really good cards I will not only be using them for gaming but for rendering games I have made i know the vega 64s require a 550w psu and currently I have a 700w thermal take psu so I can use 1 no problem but what psu should I get to use both I have heard I could use a 1000w model but im not sure if that will be enough I have read conflicting articles saying 1000w is enough and some saying min would be close to 1400w thanks for any help.
