My first monitor was a second-hand IPS 75hz 5ms 1080p 24" from LG. I used that for about 4 years, before accidentally buying a VA monitor. I decided to give it a shot and love it so much! The only issue is that it does have a slight bit of black smearing. Its nothing all too noticeable in most of my games, but I would prefer if It didn't even exist in the first place. So here I am looking for a good VA monitor at 1440p. I do not care to heavily about refresh rate, but If possible, something at or over 144hz would be nice. For sizing, anywhere from 27" to 32" is preferable. I Have looked at the Samsung Odyssey series of VA Curved monitors and found some decent reviews on the G7 and G9. My main issue is that the G7 is $469 (Even if its withing my budget Its still a bit high.) and the G9 is way too much. I see the G5 for a safe cost but I'm not sure it has the same low level of black smearing that the G7 is reported to have. Much help is appreciated, thanks a bunch!

Does anyone have experience with the samsung odyssey G5? The ultrawide 1440p 165Hz version (1000R curve). It's a VA panel so I don't know what to expect, some say VA is really bad with the smearing and some say it's not that bad. Currently running an LG 29inch ultrawide 1080p 60Hz IPS monitor. The deal I could get on the samsung is €300. 2 other options are the AOC CU34G2X (VA, 1440p, 144Hz, 1500R curve) at €289 and AOC U34G3XM (VA, 1440p, 144Hz, flat panel) at €299 Recommendations? What about the different curves? Or the flat panel? For me, right now it's a shot in the dark

Hey y'all, I am currently looking for a decent gaming monitor, however, the ones I have tested so far are just not what I want. The first contender was the ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQ, which was basically perfect... except for the extreme IPS glow. I RMA'd it, but the second one suffered from the exact same issue, darker images have had noticeable yellow patches on them. Another person took a look at it and also found it quite bad. As far as I know, this mostly is an issue of more recent high Hz monitors, right? Older IPS displays at least do not seem to suffer from IPS glow that is yellow-ish, but only white, which would be ok. So I figured why not try out a VA Panel, since they cannot have IPS glow and have a much higher contrast ratio. The AOC Agon AG275QXN looked decent at first, but especially in faster games the slow response times are too irritating. Additionally, images with complete black in them also look different depending on when I take a look, it kind of changes over time. Of course, my over 10 year old TN display only has 60 Hz and 1080p and the colors do not look as great, but at least it does not have any of the mentioned issues and fast response times. Does anyone have some ideas about what monitor I should get? Preferably it should be >= 120 Hz, 1440p, <= 27" and under 500€.

Hi, ive recently been considering buying a new monitor for my setup, been looking at a 34", 4k 144hz monitor from a company called electriq for £300, the cost isnt exactly a concern but its something im considering. My concern is that im not sure my 3070 will be able to handle a massive 4k monitor, a 2nd qhd monitor and a 3rd 1080p monitor. My gpu is the MSI SuprimX 3070 Heres the link for the monitor https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/H6TzK8/electriq-eiq-34suwd144fshq-340-3440x1440-144-hz-monitor-eiq-34suwd144fshq I'm just still not sure if its fully worth it since ive not heard of the brand before and am not an expert with monitors. Any help is appreciated

I'm thinking of doing voice over work and voice acting work, but I don't want to go all in at the moment and get a lot of really expensive equipment, so I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for cheap microphones that would do well for this kind of work. Requirements: - Not handheld (comes with a boom arm) - The microphone picks up all sound (i.e. it picks up when I'm yelling, etc) - Has a pop filter - Preferably USB

I need an idea on the good monitor for my budget. I'm on a serious budget for this, I almost fell for a VA panel at 1080p. But from all I've read from different threads online is disputing the idea of going for a VA monitor. IPS 1440p!!! My budget may sound funny it's $100 - $170. Please any helps

So I've been doing a good amount of research, as I'm looking to buy a 144hz monitor, not too cheap, but also not burning my bank. I've pretty much settled on this one monitor, the Asus TUF VG249Q. The one thing that's been worrying me is that it's ips display. Now, obviously it advertises 1ms response time, but I can't remember how many times people say IPS has super slow response times compared to TN. Is it really that bad? Or am I overthinking. And as a side note, how does the monitor pair up against the VG24VQ. Pretty much the same monitor, but with a VA panel. I appreciate anything!

I currently have a Samsung S24c750 I am currently very happy with it. The only issue I am having with it is that the screen turns off and on again whenever my air conditioner's compressor comes on, so i am thinking of seeing if i need to change a capacitor in its power supply or get a stabilizer for it later (my other screen and any other electronic device in the room don't do that) That said, just for fun, I thought I'd research screens in case I need to upgrade and replace mine later, and the market for screens is an absolute mess I do not know the color Gamut for my current screen, but it is 3000:1 contrast ratio and it is backlit. I got used to that and I wish to stay within these specs or higher Even though IPS panels have better color, I do not like how its blacks look gray on virtually even the best of its monitors And the new VA panels are all curved, even the 24 inch ones, and whenever I find a 24 inch screen that isn't curved, it has poorer response times than mine. I am assuming my screen is VA because it has a 3000:1 contrast ratio even though the official specs don't mention that That said, I can't stand edge lighting. I got used to my backlit screen never showing those weird hotspots that edge lit screens show in the sides when the screen goes black.. making potentially every screen feel like a downgrade to me regardless of any new features or framerates they offer. Not to mention that the trend these days is going 2k in resolution and above or going 27 inch and above.. and I am not interested in either of those. I thought I'd ask here in case someone knows a screen of the following specs, because any less than that is a downgrade to my current screen that i got used to for years 1) 24 Inch Flat VA Panel (no curve) 2) 60 hz to 144 hz (it's ok if it's higher as long as it doesn't sacrifice anything) 3) 1080 p (2k is fine but not needed) 4) almost 100% sRGB color Gamut (High adobe RGB color Gamut optional) 5) Backlit and not edgelit 5) 250 nits of brightness or higher 6) 3000:1 static contrast ratio 7) Very High response time just enough for motion to not look too smeared at the native refresh rate. 8) Sturdy monitor stand 9) (Optional) Ability to rotate the screen vertically Does such a screen exist? I feel it should as my current screen literally already hits most of these. I'd rather have a 24 inch screen with good specs than an ULTRA GAMER 32 inch screen just to have these specs.

What samsumg monitors actually have PLS panels? i cant seem to find any samsung monitors using IPS anymore, only VA panels, even the newer odysseys monitors are using high quality VA panels but i am looking for samsumg PLS panels. The only one i found is T35. I am avoiding LG Cheap IPS panels and companies that use LG panels because the newer cheap panels are coming with faint vertical lines on blue, yellow and orange colors and it seems to be pretty frequent. So i will avoid them not to make the same mistake again. Any recommendations?

I've spent the good majority of my weekend researching different monitors ranging from 4k IPS panels to 1440p VA high refresh rate panels. My goal is to find one good monitor that can be used for light gaming and media consumption on my off hours (I work from home) and at the same time be great for productivity work ranging from occasional Photoshop/Illustrator work to web design (programming) and word doc creation. I will be running one of my old 24" 1080p 60hz acer monitors vertically beside it where I will have my IDE running for programming. I've visited my local Best Buy but their selection was pretty limited so I haven't been able to see many different sizes and panel options in person. Side note, my MSI 3060 Ti VENTUS 3X OC will be driving whatever monitor I get. My questions: How wide is too wide for a flat monitor (I've found a few good deals on 32-34" IPS monitors but they are flat, not curved)? I know IPS is supposed to have better color accuracy, but if the VA panel is HDR10 or HDR400 and at least 1440p, is a VA panel just as good of an option? What are you running for a main monitor that is a good "all around" monitor (or what's your personal preference)? One panel I have been eyeballing has been the GIGABYTE M34WQ 34" IPS LED 144Hz WQHD KVM Gaming Monitor for around $500. As for the VA panel that I have been looking at, the Dell 34 Curved Gaming Monitor – S3422DWG has been tempting me. It is identical in price with the Gigabyte monitor, but it is at least HDR 400. I know monitors are one of those personal preference things, but I'm struggling making my mind up. I don't want to drop $500 on something that I don't have experience or proper knowledge about. That's why I'm coming here for some help. If you have any advice or if you'd like to point me in a specific direction, it would be more than appreciated. Thanks in advance! I own the MSI MAG249C. Link. It is a 144Hz monitor, 1080p, with great viewing angles. I was always under the impression that this is an IPS monitor, because of the viewing angles. I looked up the model again and saw it advertised as a VA panel. This makes no sense to me because everywhere I look I see people saying VA panels have bad viewing angles, while my colors don't shift at all. It is also advertised with 178° viewing angles which I totally believe. Is every VA panel like this now? Ive been looking to upgrade and was wondering if this is a one-off.

So I have a 650 W system (3600+ GTX970, eyeing a RTX3070 and 5600 in future) needs a UPS. Now, do I need to match the wattage of the UPS with PSU? Or I should be fine as long as the VA capacity is sufficient? E.g. VA calculation (650W computer +50W monitor router)/0.8 = 875 VA But APC 900VA UPS is only rated to 450W??

Hi, I never used VA panel, alaways been on IPS. Long story short, do you recommend the Samsung Ultrawide G5 3440x1440? Smeering, ghosting...etc? I have LG 27GL850 IPS 144hz 2K, but i really want an affordable Ultrawide wide PS: no other options available in my country. Thanks

Hi, I need some advice from someone with personal experience when it comes to this. So I have had high refresh rate TN and IPS panels and I know all the differences on paper between ips,va and tn but my question here is how experience breaking dark level smearing is. I was thinking of buying one of these monitors: AOC 34 CU34G2X, Gigabyte 34 G34WQC or Xiaomi Mi Curved 34 But I don't have hands-on experience with the amount of dark level smearing that these kinds of panels have (I know that some VA’s like Samsung g7 and g9 have special overdrive that almost eliminates dark level smearing) So I would appreciate some advice from people who own these displays to tell me if they are worth getting. I'm located in the Swedish market so keep in mind that not all 34 inch 21:9 displays on the market are available for me. Thanks in advance.

Hello so I got a curved monitor and I know that there is a issue called black level smearing but on my monitor usually red color they have like this smearing effect or trail when I move my camera around. It's like color ripping out a little when you move the camera and then a when you stop your camera movement it stops is this a va panel issue. Sceptre c325bfwd240 31.5 inch 1080p 240hz

Hey LTT forum! I have came here to ask what monitor would you prefer on buying? A IPS or VA panel? Here are the links to the 2 candidate monitors: IPS 170Hz - https://www.amazon.com/VG27AQ1A-Monitor-Supports-Compatible-DisplayPort/dp/B08CZ8QJTX?th=1 VA 165Hz - https://www.amazon.ca/Asus-VG27WQ1B/dp/B088MKHW7M?th=1 Yes, they are both ASUS, and i dont really care for the 5Hz difference, i just want to know which is better for both gaming and acting as a workstation. Thanks!

I know it is kind of normal in low end LCD panels and all that stuff, but I am a bit obessive when I see something and was looking for some reasurance from more cultivated people on the matter. I have this C24F390 Samsung curved VA screen that has a very very thin and barely vissible dark top right corner (I think is all on the right edge), actually only visible with high contrast colors, such as bright white and wanted to know how normal this would be. I have not found many people with this model to compare. Thanks, guys!

Hey everyone, So as title says Iam looking to buy new monitor with this specifications:24inc 1080p 144hz IPS.Ive wanted to buy AOC 24g2u but since its out of stock thats not an option and Aoc itself has no idea when will they start production again.Ive saw new msi optix series which seems cool but its not released yet.I dont want VA monitors as they are not as good as IPS and no more than 24inc (because of 1080p).Iam into serious csgo and I dont think 4ms will be that much problem. Also I want to enjoy every game I play so once more IPS is best for that.My budget is 330$-340$

Which of these is the better monitor for fairly competitive gaming whilst wanting my game to look somewhat decent (2060 super and ryzen 3600) I am not too fussed about G-SYNC / Freesync Asus VG278QR 27'' 165Hz 0.5ms Esport Gaming Monitor (https://www.ebuyer.com/868288-asus-vg278qr-27-165hz-0-5ms-esport-gaming-monitor-vg278qr?wgu=267255_206719_15866347852321_b241f2e568&wgexpiry=1594410785&utm_source=webgains&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=97907&utm_campaign=PCPartPicker, LLC_206719 ) LG 27GL650F-B 27" (https://www.overclockers.co.uk/lg-27gl650f-b-27-1920x1080-ips-144hz-1ms-freesync-widescreen-led-gaming-monitor-mo-15b-lg.html?gclid=CjwKCAjw1cX0BRBmEiwAy9tKHvMyARQ-fBRpW7_86Ydgti1Kr4WkDUTVu4EDNHxRLRem4DVOM5uvgBoC4tYQAvD_BwE ) MSI Optix MAG271CQR (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07MW4RZGS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_8u7JEbEFMZBT9?th=1 ) ( I have listed a VA, TN and IPS panel) I am open to other suggestions as well. Hello, after making various threads, I have narrowed it down to the specs I want for a monitor. (I play a decent amount of CSGO and rust, I also am going to play games like dying light 2 and Cyberpunk 2077 when they release) Ghosting is really my main concern hence why I didn't want a VA. I would like to know what is currently the best on the market for my budget and spec, so I can compare it with my current choices. Thanks for all the help

Hey guys, I'm trying to decide what monitor to buy but found out that there are the 3 types of monitors. IPS, VA and TN. I saw a lot of videos comparing them but I still don't no what to choose. I don't think I wold buy a TN panel because of the quality reproducing the colors. I was thinking about buying a VA monitor but I'm afraid I have problems with ghosting, as a lot of people say. First I was going for an IPS monitor but the response times and the blacks are better on A VA monitor so I don't know. Please help me. Answer me as fast as you can, I need to buy one quickly because I need to work. Thanks.
