I have never undervolted before. The temps are around 80 C when gaming. I tried fan curve and now the temps are around 74C bit it sounds like a jet engine. I am worried that during summer it will throttle. I have heard that undervolting often does magic in reducing temps while little to no fps drop.

I'm attempting to replicate the settings described in Tech YES City's youtube vid 'How to UNDERVOLT Ryzen 5000 series CPUs (FULL Tutorial). I've got a Ryzen 5700G on an ASRock B550M ITX motherboard. The settings I'm looking to change were called the following in an ASUS BIOS: CPU Core Ratio VDDCR CPU Voltage VDDCR CPU Offset Voltage In the ASRock BIOS I am unable to find these settings. Anyone here well versed in the ASRock B550 BIOS?

Hi I wanted to know should I undervolt or overclock my Ryzen 5 5600 on biostar B450Mhp Mobo. Because a problem I was having earlier was that my cpu was not boosting clocks I took it to a repair shop and he told me that this was because of the 4 pin power delivery to the cpu and that it was not enough for the 5600. He then took it to his friend who he said was fond of these biostar mobo to be checked and said it may work or either you would have to change your mobo, i had also updated to the latest bios of the motherboard. Eventually his friend fixed it and told me if I had to upgrade my CPU I would have to also change my Mobo. So I wanted to know if I overclock or undervolt the 5600 will it damage my motherboard or not? And is it safe for overclocking on this mobo or should I change it? The mobo's site: https://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=1062

Guys, I just built my PC, and it idles around 40C. However, during games, it goes up to 85C, which I don't like. I am considering undervolting it. I have a Ryzen 7 3700X and RTX 2070 Super. So, I need your suggestions: How much should I reduce the voltage? If someone else with the same processor and GPU has undervolted their system, please let me know the voltage value you have set.

Hello all! It's that time of year again—summer is paying its yearly visit and temperatures are going up. So, I would rather not have a space heater in my room. Therefore, I'm trying to undervolt my CPU (and GPU) to try to decrease the heat that my computer generates. Could anyone give me some pointers for this process? Here's what I'm working with: CPU: AMD Ryzen 3700X GPU: 2070 Super Motherboard: ROG Crosshair VIII Formula (X570 chipset) OS: Manjaro Linux I'm comfortable with using any tools in Manjaro or in the UEFI of my motherboard. Thanks in advance! Owen

@unclewebb I have a Asus ROG Strix G531 GT with i5 9300h, GTX 1650 and 8GB ram. I am struggling with high tempretures and High TDP. Back in 2021 undervolted the CPU but after applying default profile in XTU it randomly applied the values to voltage offset and turbo power limits. While playing games TDP goes as high as 60W and tempretures are above 95c. When I checked PL1 and PL2 in HWinfo its 70w and 90w respectively. I want to change those values in XTU by 45w and 70w respectively (correct me if I am wrong). I am open to any suggestions to resolve this.

Hasee s7-ta5nb WIN10 I5-11260H. I tried to download some newer versions and they are working but i need the CV slider to be enabled so only solution is 6.5.2.4 ver. I installed it and faced an error: drivers are not present etc... i tried to use intel DSA but it says i have no drivers to update. i dont really understand what the problem might be.. at my PC any version of XTU works fine. any thoughts? Only solution i found is to use quick CPU to manipulate the CV but this is alternative program and i'd like to solve this problem with XTU

I recently updated my laptops BIOS to the latest "urgent" version which happened to have multiple Intel Security Advisory firmware updates which blocked the ability to under-volt with throttle stop! I know this is a newer topic, but undervolting is the one thing that boosts my frames like no other. I was reading into SGX / Intel Security Engine. I couldn't find any clear answers on whether this was a possible feature that can bypass the microcode that stops me from undervolting. I know there is a feature within the BIOS to Disable, have System Applications run it, or just Enabled it. I am not sure if this feature could help with my current situation. I also looked to see if going back to a previous BIOS was possible but the manufacturer has blocked any rollbacks on BIOS prior to the CVE-2019-11157 Intel Update. I run on an Alienware m15 R2 with in i9-9880H processor. Update: This reddit post is one way that I have found that allows you to undervolt after Dell 1.6.0 BIOS updates. From my testing, you will most likely have to turn off Secure Boot within the BIOS to use this solution. My solutions. Not everyone has the skill sets to edit the BIOS, so I have found solutions through Windows that allows the computer to get undervolting like temperatures and performance. - The first step I took was Editing the Power Plan 1. Type Edit Power Plan into taskbar search 2. Click Advanced Settings 3. Scroll down to Intel (R) Dynamic Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework Settings 4. There will be two options. Select the lower Wattage and Lower Ghz option. - The second step is making sure your fan settings are proper while gaming or idle. 1. The Alienware fan control application has many settings within

Hi all, This morning, I was trying some undervolting on my Ryzen 3600XT when my PC crashed. No big deal, I thought, this has happened to me multiple times after going a little bit too hard on the overclock. So I tried to reboot the system, which didnt work so I cleared cmos. I logged into Windows to make sure everything was still working, and it was. Then, I went back into BIOS to go back to my last stable settings, but after leaving BIOS my PC wouldn't ouput any screen and my mouse and keyboard didn't light up anymore. There is fan spin at this point, so I was like: 'Uhm, I'll just clear cmos once more?' Now everytime I exit BIOS, even without changing any settings after clearing cmos, the same problem occurs: fan spin, lights inside PC work, but no screen, keyboard or mouse. If I don't enter BIOS after clearing cmos the system works perfectly fine and I can do whatever, but every single time I exit BIOS, the system locks up. I have already tried the two solutions that these people at tomshardware gave: replacing battery and removing Ryzen Master, but it did not help. https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/pc-doesnt-restart-boot-after-exiting-bios.3565610/ Can anybody help? TLDR: System freezes every time I exit BIOS. Motherboard: Gigabyte Aorus Elite AX V2 CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT GPU: MSI GT 710 2GB (I know, waiting for my 3060Ti to arrive)

So yeah, it's been about two years I was in the BIOS of my motherboard... this is all pretty complicated and overwhelming... I have an idea of what to do, but totally not how, there are soo many settings... I really hope there's a simple way to do what I want - which I'm not sure what it is myself... i guess "more performance" but I would also settle with less heat and same or better performance... Also I definitely thought cool n quiet would be disabled but it was on the whole time, which didn't seem to matter much, cpu has always been working as intended, up to 4200mhz as is written on the box. So what parameters do I need to change exactly if I want it to boost higher - note I still want it to downclock normally while also getting higher boost clocks, especially under load... Specs in sig, motherboard is a msi b350m.

Hello. I bought the cheapest rtx 2060 I could find a few months ago before gpu shortage reach this stage but it was already begin and even though it have 2 fans I think they cheap out on paste and it is reaching 80-83 degree under full load. This is a temporary gpu so I don't want to open it but when I tried to undervolt it in msi after burner core voltage part is not active, is there anyway else to undervolt my gpu? Its model is Arktek rtx 2060 and I'm using it on a x570 board.

I recently undervolted my new HP OMEN 15 EK-0042TX with a rtx 2060 and an i7 10750h. It was working absolutely fine at a core voltage offset of -0.06V and then I changed to -0.08V and it still worked fine except for a few frame drops sometimes in Genshin Impact . I decided to undo it because I wanted the frames not to drop. I'm not sure when this started but now the left side of the laptop where the cpu I assume is, is making sparking sounds/crackling sounds. To confirm I tried undervolting and the sound increased. It increases with the increase in fan speed for some reason. I have tried updating, reinstalling, rollbacking drivers, resetting everything with a new install of windows, draining battery to 0 and charging again to no avail. Is there any way I can fix this without support? It causes my cpu temperature to reach abnormal temperatures upto 98°C. worst case scenario I can use my warranty. I used the omen gaming hub to undervolt.

Aa I said, I got a RX 580 and it's behaviour is weird because if I set the voltage lower (it easily overheats to 85-89 degrees so I have to undervolt) it just uses more wattage..? If I do set it lower sometimes I do get a higher stable clock speed but if I go into a game it crashes. The lowest value I când set fire 1366 mhz is 1080 sadly... Anything below that and it doesn't work. Right now it's kind of stable but I wanna know if I can do anything to get it lower?.. Kinda everyone on forums etc said that they can get it to 1030 mv or something close to that and well that would be a huge deal for the temps but for some reason the wattage kept rising. The clock wasn't stable in furmark and neither in superposition. I did get it to be stable with +50 power limit but isn't that just bad since I did undervolt it and it still needs extra power than the 100% power limit?... My card is a XFX GTS XXX EDITION 8 GB and it's in a pretty small and with just-a-small-82-mm-fan-as-exhaust case. That should be the main point of the overheating but it doesn't explains anything about the core clock. It isn't thermal throttling tho, it was on 100% fan speed all the time. The fans did start doing a weirdish noise but it stopped and came back etc. No noise at 90% but it does sound a bit weird (only if you listen clooooosely*barely hearable* at 60%). Please let me know if I should add more info I can't think of anything else right now since it's early in the morning and I created this thread now so that I can actually maybe get some responses for later.

Using the Ryzen Master right now and it shows that on default my 3300x is at 0,83125V, isn't it supposed to be at like over 1.2V? When I manually set it at 1V and all I hear is trrrrrrrrrr and the computer freezes until I restart it. Why? My base clock is at 3.8Ghz I'm not sure if I really need more so I would leave it at that, since at Auto OC it goes to 47C idle instead of 29C when its on default and I always like when I keep my parts healthy and not too much power consuming. So what voltage should I set it to or shall I leave it as AMD decided it should be?

How to undervolt a 5900x on an ASUS MOBO?
FoodOcean posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
As the title suggests, I am trying to figure out how to undervolt my 5900x through my BIOS on my TUF Gaming x570 pro (wifi). When I run the CPU stock, I get temps of 50-60 degrees idle and about 75 degrees under load, and while I know those temps are with in the chips allowances, I would feel more comfortable if the idle temps were a little lower. In contrast, I have also used the AI OC, but while it lowered my temps, the "AI Suite" locked my CPU at a constant 4.2 GHz. This is not a bad frequency to have, but not being able to boost to its highest clock speed drops its benchmark scores significantly on both Cinebench and pc mark. does anyone know how to undervolt on an ASUS motherboard for an 5900x, or know where I can find said information? I have found articles and videos that explain how to do it on MSI and Gigabyte, but not for ASUS. Any and all guidance would be helpful, thanks!- 5 replies

Hello everyone, just bought 5800x and it's a beast! Problem is that it overheats too much for my liking, so I have tried to undervolt it from Ryzen master and it seems to be stable at 4.4Ghz with -0.1v. This works great in demanding games as well and temperature is acceptable. Problem is that these settings are not persistent. What would I need to change in ASUS BIOS to get these same results? - Variable clock speed up to 4.4Ghz - CPU voltage up to 1.05V I have Crosshair VII x470 motherboard. I haven't done this before and seems better to ask than to mess something up.

I recently upgraded to the i9-12900k and I am having nothing but issues keeping my temps under 90c when under heavy load, at idle I see normal temps around 30c. I changed the cooling hardware setting in bios to a box cooler even though I am running a 360 AIO so that way it would limit my wattage. I saw in a forum that you could set a wattage power limit and it could remedy the temp issues with about a 5% performance loss, but I am unable to find the option to set a wattage limit within my bios. I was never really one to overclock and mess with voltage or anything, but now I need to underclock and I am kind of lost. Any help is appreciated! TYIA.

Hello everybody, how is it going? Yesterday I bought an Acer Nitro 5, Intel core i7 11800H and RTX 3060 Laptop GPU. sadly I have 2 problems with it so far and I think it's BIOS related and might be fixable: 1. it doesn't seem to undervolt at all: I downloaded "ThrottleStop" and in the FIVR submenu, the "Unlock Adjustable Voltage" was locked. so I googled a bit and learned it's BIOS locked in Nitro. So I unlocked it, and no matter what offset voltage I choose it has 0 effect neither at the temps nor at the performance. the sliders go all the way to -1000 mV and the laptop won't crash... the XTU doesn't even open with no errors, just doesn't open 2. Windows 11 is pre-installed and I hate it, so I tried to downgrade to Windows 10, and somehow the SSD won't show in the installation process nor in CMD\DiskPart. Yet it shows in BIOS and in Windows 11 and everythis is OK, I even tried to create a VHD and attaching it during the installation process, and the VHD shows up in the installation (did this cause I thought my USB flash or the Windows copy were defective). Tried to google this issue with no luck. If anybody knows what could be the issue (especially the 2nd) I'd really appreciate it. SSD: NVMe WDC PC SN530 SDBPNPZ-1T00-114 Hope you all have a nice day

Hi, i am trying to undervolt my i7-12700k on asus proart z690-creator wifi motheboard. Recently i have change my MSI Z690 motherboard because i needed thunderbolt ports. On MSI undervolting was easy, even on ROG motherboards, but this ProArt, I am really confused. As i said instead of traditional BIOS settings i got this like expert-mode voltage settings. Like what the hell ASUS? I just want to undervolt my CPU according to thousands of guides on the internet using same naming scheme. I am just trying to set CPU Core/Cache Voltage to offset mode, set CPU voltage to 1.290, offset mode to - (negative) and CPU core voltage offset to 0.130 With this values on my MSI motherboard i ran CPU almost 10°C cooler. So is there anyone who could help me with settings on this particular motherboard?

Happy Holidays! First time posting here. I just finished building my first PC two weeks ago and I really want to try undervolting my cpu. I'm currently using an itx system and my room kinda gets hot. The undervolting guides I found on the internet are full of Asus bios settings but Gigabyte's looks drastically different and has a different naming convention. I was wondering if anyone has tips or recommended/current settings that would be great! Hi everyone, I am tweaking the CPU voltage with throttlestop. I managed to get rid of thermal throttling by undervolting the CPU and the result are evident: in cinebench r23 the multicore frequency stays near the max (which in my case is 3 Ghz) without thermal throttling. Note that in this test the CPU didn't exceed the PL1 level or it rarely exceeded the PL1 level just a bit and for few seconds. Anyway, while testing the stability of the CPU with OCCT, I noticed that the CPU at the start it exceeded the PL1 limit going up to the PL2 limit for maybe 20 seconds. After that, as usual, the power draw drop to PL1 level and the max frequency went down to 2.7/2.8 Ghz. I mean, that's not a big deal, and I also think that in a real usage I won't exceed the PL1 limit, but is possibile to limit the power usage to PL1 level in order to avoid power throttling?

Hi guys&gals I'v recently got a 5900X and still playing with OC/PBO settings What I've now is: thermal limit at 85C Mobo limits (Aorus X570 Pro) that are at least PPT 200W TDC 140A EDC 200A (figures are the max under CB23 with TL 85C) Undervolt -30 (works only with high EDC, at EDC <130 I can only get -20) Seems to run stable, CB23 score around 22700 Now with a 280mm AIO once I launch CB23 temps near instantly raise to 85C, and would go even higher if I didn't set a thermal limit While I know that 5900X are supposed to run at 90C+ it still "looks" pretty high, maybe shorten the chip's life, and that's a ton of heat near my case (which has rather bad airflow as it is enclosed under my desk, but I can't put in anywhere else !) So is there any way to reduce temps while still using PBO, or do you think I should just remove TL ? I also have a D5 pump I can install to help my AIO, would that reduce temps (I'm not sure because it goes up so quick I don't think anything can really prevent it)

Hi all, I have an Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2060 Super Gaming OC 8G that I got in Nov '19. After the LTT video, I decided to try out NiceHash QuickMiner, and mine in the background when I'm doing college work (Zoom/Word/PowerPoint stuff). Their OCTune determined the optimum settings for my card were: Core Clock: 1020 mhz Core Volt: 662 mv Memory Clock: 7601 mhz The thing is.... I want to try mining ETH without NiceHash (using Ethermine Pool and T-Rex), but I'm struggling to re-create the above settings with MSI Afterburner, and I'm getting confused because I think Afterburner works with deltas rather than fixed values (?). I managed to get "similar" values with the below but the core clock jumps around +/-200mhz and the voltage +/-80mv. Power Limit: 52 % Temp Limit: 67 c Core Clock: +0 mhz Memory Clock: +800 mhz Am I doing something wrong? (First two screenshots of OCTune and HWINFO were taken with with NiceHash QuickMiner+OCTune. Last screenshot was taken with OCTune disabled and Afterburner controlling underclock/overclock/voltages)

Hello people, I really hope I choose the right topic, I just bought a Razer Blade Pro 17 i7-10875H 16GB 512GB SSD 17,3" Full HD 300Hz RTX2070 Win10. I also added a 1TB SSD 970 EVO PLUS and 32 GB Hyperx DDR4-3200. I would like to know if I can undervolted my laptop and in case I could do it, could some guide me who to do this wright and which program to use, I don’t want to push my laptop too hard and I want to keep it as cool as possible without losing to much performance. (FYI I never owned a gaming laptop, so I may wright some stupid stuff) Thank you in advance and sorry in case I choose the wrong topic or section. Greeting from Austria.
