For a while now my PC has been randomly switching off and it also does not come back on when I try to restart. I thought a clean install of windows would help but when windows restarts as it’s installing the computer doesn’t come back on and I have to restart the install. It still has this problem with the graphics card removed and both ssds unplugged. Please help!

My system randomly turned off earlier today just after I finished rendering something, however all the fans were still spinning and the light indicators were on. I restarted, checked event viewer and found critical kernel error 41 (apparently more common than I thought). I then rebooted for a second time and unfortunately I could barely make it a minute before it turns off again. I would like to point out that all fans still spin while I have no display. Here's a video example: https://youtu.be/h3Pf8HbboM8 I've tried pretty much every step out there, including reset CMOS, reseat RAM, check all cables, I even rebuilt the entire system to make sure. I've replaced my PSU too, none of which has fixed anything. Could this be a CPU or motherboard issue? Hello everyone ! I recently posted this here: I now have the date, so I want to check with you. Back in May I was offered an external Hard Drive, and whenever I plugged it in it would instantly turn off my PC, USB killer style. During the summer, I have noted this started happening as well while playing in VR, sometimes after a couple of minutes inside VR, my PC would turn off. Usually a reboot would fix the issue, but as time went by it was getting more and more difficult to play in VR, as the PC would crash as soon as I put the headset on, and rebooting would not fix it. It just started working again randomly sometimes. Now, beginning of September, I am seeing this issue happening while playing Star Wars Battlefront II 2017. I guess it could happen in any other demanding game, but I've played a lot of GTA IV through Xenia, and that didn't crash. Also it can sometimes get difficult to get my PC to boot again, as now it sometimes turns off just by booting Windows, as I get to the desktop. I have updated my BIOS during the summer (it hadn't been updated since 2019) thinking my motherboard could be the issue. I saw absolutely no change in behavior after the update. The slow degrading experience I have also makes me think of my PSU. I also noted that even with the PC turned off, it makes this very high-pitched whistle (as you can hear in the video, it stops a few seconds after I unplug it from the wall). I don't know if such noise is normal. I have provided a log from HWInfo64 of the crash happening while I was playing Star Wars Battlefront II. What do you think ? Do you think the issue comes from my PSU ? My Specs: PSU: Goldmaster MWE 650 Gold MB: ASUS TUF B450-PLUS GAMINGASUS b450 CPU: Ryzen 7 3700x RAM: kingston khx3200c16d4/8gx (x2) GPU: RTX 2080 (I also have 1 SSD and 3 HDDs in there) Thank you for everything !!! 287655253_Vid20220920134923-1.m4v hw-log.CSV

Hey, so I was just doing my usual stuff... Editing while listening to YouTube and such and suddenly my PC turns off for no reason and when I try to turn it back on, it won't start back up again. I suspect it might be the PSU that probably just died, I have tested it with different outlets and such but still nothing. What's going on here? P.S. My temps are fine and wasn't doing intense editing either so I don't really know what's the problem here. EDIT: I've swapped my old broken PSU to a new one and it works now...

Hello everyone. I need help. So my display turns off but the computer is still running. I have to turn it off by hitting the switch in the back because the button in front wont work. I specify the specs bellow but my motherboard its a msi b450 gaming pro carbon ac which has 4 red lights and when this happens the cpu light turns on. Full specs are: Mobo: MSI b450 pro carbon ac CPU: Ryzen 7 2700x GPU: Aorus Radeon RX580 PSU: Corsair TX650M 650 Watt 80+ Gold, semimodular RAM: Corsair Vengance LPX 16GB (2x) CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U14s This issue has happened like 4 times when I’m 3d rendering in 3ds max so I thought the it was the scenes fault but now it happened when playing cities skylines which I don’t think its a very demanding software so now I’m really worried. I recently upgraded to the CPU cooler specified above from the ryzen stock cooler and I believe it was after that that this issue started. At the beginning I thought it was overheating despite the numbers not showing overheating, I uninstalled and reinstalled the cooler and the thermal paste was pretty well applied so I don’t think it was that, I also checked the pins on the CPU and they were fine as well. So i have honestly no idea what’s causing this or how to fix it so if anybody can give advise I would be really appreciate it. So far the only way to get around it is to turn the switch in the back, wait a few seconds and then the computers starts as usual. Thank you in advance.

My PC just randomly shuts down. In a previous forum post of mine, we determined it must be the power supply -- this is because when it turns off EVERYTHING turns off, even the LEDs. I took the old power supply out (which was some ghetto and cheap piece of crap that my friend put in when it was his.) and put a new Antec 450W PSU in it. The thing still turns itself off under light load. It isn't a cooling issue -- the PC doesn't even get hot it stays at about 36 degrees C, which is NOTHING. What is the problem with this thing? I'm guessing it's the motherboard, I have no idea what else would be causing this problem. Nothing is overheating, I promise that. It's been dusted and it's cooling just fine. I have no clue what the issue is with this thing.

Hello guys! Recently my friend's PC started to shut down while he was playing Rainbow Six: Siege and DOTA 2. After that he tried running FurMark and it would crash when it would reach 70 Celcius. We used MSI Afterburner and put the temperature limit to 65 Celcius, still got crash. We checked the windows events journal and it had a bunch of Kernel-Power 41-63 errors. We thought it's GPU overheating and we reapplied the thermopaste on it and cleaned the pc from dust, still had crashes after that. Not sure what to do from now on, we can't do RMA since the PC is 4 years old. Maybe on PSU, we could do it, he bought it 4 months ago. Here are his specs: OS: Windows 7 Ultimate CPU: i5-3470 running stock speed Motherboard: ASUS H61M-C GPU: Gigabyte GTX 760 PSU: Corsair CX 500

My Xbox one controller disconnects immediately after turning on if steam is running. i have spent over a week googling this problem and tried all the tricks i could find on the net that linked it to geforce experience, vive/oculus (which i don't have) and some other programs as well as steam, but they either didn't work or only worked once and you had to repeat after every restart. now i actually have had and fixed this problem before, i found a forum post with a dll file you put in steam root that fixed it permanently, but i can't for the life of me remember what it was called or where i found it.. all i can find are the above mentioned workarounds. does anyone here know about this file and provide a link or point me in the right direction atleast?

80% of the time, I have no issues with my computer but more and more recently it seems to be struggling and as a PC novice, I'm not 100% on what could be causing that. I'm not sure if the problems I'm experiencing are connected or not but when my PC starts up and I go to type in my password, it seems to take a while to respond, or is very slow in starting up, I'm not sure if this could be in need of more RAM or another SSD. The other issue I have and when this usually happens I haven't had my eye on it, is it seems to turn itself off or crashes and then continues to restart (this is when I notice this has happened, as I have a small fan within my motherboard that makes a lot of noise when starting up), sometimes it has to do this a couple of times before it comes back online. I don't think we're having power cuts, because it wouldn't be able to turn itself back on, so I don't know if this is related to the other issue or not. I've had this computer for over a year, it's off the floor away from dust, nothing is blocking the fans unless they have a fine layer of some dust on them and I haven't changed my coolant, which I know I probably should but not sure on how to go about it. My ex overclocked my PC to like 30% and I have no idea about that to even want to attempt to mess about with that, in case that is the issue. He had installed programs on it so I could keep an eye on temperatures and that but I accidentally removed them and can't remember the name of the program to reinstall it. All parts were bought new and are only a couple years old and apart from these issues, it works a dream when gaming, streaming or working with multiple design programs at once. Any advice is welcomed!

Hey people! After a few years of use, I decided to swap the battery in my old trusty laptop... But because of the age of the laptop, I wasn't able to purchase an OEM battery, so I found a replacement with 5o% more capacity (GREAT!) But this is where my trouble begins... I installed the new battery and quickly noticed something was wrong... After only about 10 minutes the laptop crashed, and I mean CRASHED! not even BSOD, just completely died on me. It just turned off in an instant. so I thought the battery was faulty and got a new one... same problem... so I began to investigate a bit... I noticed it only happened when I was running on battery, and not when connected to AC. The problem happens no matter the battery percentage. I looked through a generated battery report and noticed that it said that my laptop went into "suspended mode", but it boots up as if it was closed when turned back on. I can turn it back on immediately after it turns off. My first thought was to check for driver updates and BIOS updates... There was new drivers and a new BIOS, GREAT! well not completely... it didn't fix the problem... After searching around the internet I got the idea of checking the Event Viewer to see if it spat out any errors... and oh boy it did... I have attached two pictures of the two Critical Errors that came when it crashes... The funny thing is that this doesn't happen with the old worn out battery... Please, I would do almost everything for a fix!

**What I'm about to ask is something of a problem which I used to have (no longer do), and I managed to find out where the problem was, but what I want to know now is WHAT was actually causing the problem.** So I was running my rig (specs below) for about 3 years now, and for the last 6 months or so, I used to have this problem where the system would turn on when I push the Power button, the lights & fans would come alive and spin for like a split second before shutting down. I do this like 3-4 times and each time the same result, and then finally the system boots up on the 5th or 6th attempt and everything works fine once I'm there. I ran benchmarks, stress tests and everything was in top shape, nothing I could find which was glaringly wrong in anything that was detectable through software. Sometimes, when I used to turn off the PSU switch, unplug the power cord and plug it back in and turn on, it used to boot up no problem. But only like 60% of the time, not always. Additionally, the problem seemed to manifest more severely when I shut down the system and come back to turn it on in like a few hours. But when I turn it off and only come back to it after quite a while (like the next morning), USUALLY it used to boot up in the very first attempt. I clearly suspected this was a power supply issue (Antec VP650P v2) but I never really got around to digging further as I was pretty busy these last few months (and as the system wasn't just outright refusing to boot, I treated this rather as an annoyance than a genuine problem). However recently, I did quite the upgrade to my system with a new 1080Ti, and as I was aware of the potentially faulty power supply I had, I went ahead and bought a new Corsair RM850x to replace it with...wasn't gonna risk the 1080Ti. Sure enough, once I swapped the PSU, the problem was gone. Now whenever I press the Power button, the system just boots up flawlessly, like it did when I first put everything together back in 2015. But what I wanna know is, what actually went on there? What exactly was causing this problem with my old PSU? Surely I can't be the only guy that faced a similar issue? Anyone fittin' to share some knowledge/experience? I just wanna know what the problem was, in case it turns out to be something I can fix in future. Are PSUs known to do this when they go bad? Specs: i7-4790k (liquid cooled by Corsair H80i v1) MSI Z97 Gaming 7 MoBo Corsair Vengeance 16gb (2x8) DDR3, 1866 mhz MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G*** (replaced with MSI GTX 1080Ti Gaming) Samsung 840 EVO 120gb SSD running Win10 Pro 64-bit 2 x 2TB 7200rpm HDDs (a Seagate Barracuda and a WD Enterprise Edition) Optical Drive 3 x case fans Antec VP650P v2 (replaced with Corsair RM850x) *** 3.5G duh Note that in both cases (with the new & old PSUs), I was getting power via a UPS. I even tried using different UPS models but it didn't effect the problem in any way.

My 2nd drive - HDD turns off after 15 seconds when nothing needs it to read or write something to it. And then when something is needed from it, it takes 3 seconds to start up and I always have to wait for it.

Operating system win 10 pro 64-bit (insider program) CPU: i74770 3.40GHz. MoBo:ASROCKH81M-DGS R2.0(latest BIOS). Ram: 16GB. GPU: Msi GTX1070Ti Gaming. SSD: 1Tb Goldenfir. PSU: 600w Technimax. PC suddenly turns off [No error or anything just directly turns off] when using (Heaven Benchmark 4.0) "Extreme" option ,On Windows power options set to "Ultimate performance". First I disabled Turbo boost which delayed the problem by 1 sec. HWMonitor_x64:CPU Temps of "CPU(all cores+package)" and "GPU" never exceeded 70C°(Open case). PC will *not* turn off when (Heaven Benchmark 4.0) on "Basic" option and windows power option set to "Ultimate performance". PC will *occasionally* turn off when (Heaven Benchmark 4.0) on "Extreme" and Win power option set to "Power saver". By trial and error: I found that no "advanced option" in "Power saver" was changing much except: limiting "Processor power management" to 58%(max and min)=>which offered Stability and 0% crashes on repetitive and 2 Hr runs of (Heaven Benchmark 4.0) "extreme". On "advanced options" in "Power saver" on "PCI express" changing "Link state power management" doesn't make any difference. MSI gaming App was always set to OC mode. I kept watching the processor frequency while "min processor state" was on 58% and "max..." was on 65% and the (Heaven Benchmark 4.0) crashed immediately when the frequency jumped from 1.97GHz to 2.21Ghz.(58% to 65%) With that I found out that anything above 1.97GHz (58% on processor power management) while (Heaven Benchmark 4.0) is on "extreme" Turns off my pc.

Hi all, My computer keeps turning off while under load, It runs chrome and Ableton live 10 just fine, which is most of what I use it for, but for some reason whenever I open up a more recent game it turns off before I can even get into a match. I have tried using Open Hardware Monitor to monitor the temps, but because it cuts off suddenly I really only have idle temps. It's really tough to pin down, and I was wondering if there is a way to troubleshoot the PC to figure out what is the actual problem with it. Idle temps- 4690k- 31-33 C 970- 35 C All other components are below 35C at idle. It runs just fine for older games at 4k like COD: MW3, Music production apps like Ableton Live 10, or Chrome. It will turn off under load for COD: Black Ops 3, Battlefield 4, Battlefield 1 The PC runs at 4k, and it has been doing so just fine for a good couple of months before any of the more recent games started not wanting to work for me. Hi everyone I have a HP Pavilion 22bw monitor and in the last few days it started to something like "turn off" by itself, this monitor has a white led next to the power button, and when it's turned on the led goes white, if it is on standby mode the led goes orange, however, it started to turn off the screen randomly, but the power on button remains white, I've already try to check the power settings on my computer and try with a desktop (with a GT610) and also with my laptop (lenovo Z400 with Intel Graphics 3000) and the monitor does the same, if I low the brightness the time that takes to turn off is a little longer than if it's at medium or max brighntess, but keeps doing it (kind of like if it was some overheating issue) and I have to remove the power line and reconnect it a few seconds later, and it turns on again, if I press the power button while it's on the "overheated" status, it does nothing so If somebody can help me, I've also removed the mainboard of the monitor and cleaned it with some alcohol, it worked fine like 20~30 mins after that, but again did the same, besides call HP(because I ran out of warranty), do you guys know another solution? thanks

My UPS shuts down completely whenever there's a power outage while gaming. This has resulted in multiple save files being corrupted. What could be the reason for this? Thing is, I can load these very same games when the UPS is on standby without it turning off. WTF? Sooo I have a window fan installed right now to keep it cool in here but I have a problem... Every time I switch it on or off, it disables one of my USB devices on my computer. The fan itself is connected to a power brick, whereas my PC is connected to another socket all-together... Before it wasn't really a problem because it would just disable an external hard drive (doesn't use external power), but now it's disconnecting my USB wifi adapter. Really annoying. I've tried plugging the fan into different sockets on the brick but it's not doing anything. I feel as if my fan is possessed, as if the souls of the many tiny flies it has shredded over time are trying to get a laugh. no seriously. im confused.

Hey, I am new to this board but hopefully you guys can help me! Last week my computer started to randomly shutdown without any warning. While playing games Windows would simply logoff / the computer would turn black immediately. The event log tells we, there was an exception of type Windows Kernel Power something with ID 41 or so. Overheating shouldn't be a problem either, I monitored the temperatures and I recently cleaned every component. First, taking about 2 of my 4 RAM modules (4x2 GB) worked and the system ran stable for a couple of days. Now it happened again. Im starting to think that the motherboard I purchased is faulty. Here are the tests I already completed and the result: CPU-Burn-In Test: System stable Memtest4 (while having 8 GB of RAM): System crashes Memtest4 (testing every single RAM module): System stable Memtest86+ (with 4 GB of ram): System stable Attaching an USB 3.0 HD (without external power supply): System crashes HD Tune: No bad sectors found and HDD health seems to be good (Power on time: 15024) I already replaced the PSU with a 650W from Seasonic and don't know what to do next. CPU: Intel Core i5-3570kMotherboard: AsROCK B75-Pro3GPU: NVidia Geforce GTX 660 TiHDD: Hitachi Desktstar 1TBPSU: Seasonic SS-650AM Active PFC M12II-650 BronzeOS: Windows 7 Home Premium OEM 64-Bit I want to add that I am by far not an expert on this topic, so please explain it as simple as you can. Thank you! Any help on this topic is greatly appreciated! Cheers

I just built my first PC and at first I was having trouble with my monitor so I didn't really use it for much. Now that I just fixed the monitor and started using it I noticed that sometimes it restarts almost randomly. I say almost randomly because it turns off every time when I'm working on Revit and I use the 3D views but it also happened once when I was installing some drivers (and it wasn't the usual driver restart). Does anybody know what it might be? Specs: gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H-BK (black edition), Geforce GTX 770, Intel core i7 4790k, 750 watt power supply, and windows 8.1.
