I have a HP Pavilion a6460, it was working great, I got it for 50euros, some days later, my power button led didn't work for some reason, after some months, the PSU decided to not turn on at all, so I bought two PSU's for $5, one was a Bestech 300w and a shitty Frontier 500w, which by the way, did not use that, it worked for about a day, then one day it decided to turn on and off, sometimes I actually boot on Windows, but then shuts down randomly. My dad then bought me a shitty psu which I told him not to since it can only do 220w max, but he thought that it would work (I feel like a spoiled brat now), same thing actually happened! I don't know what can be the problem, my assumptions are probably the circuit of the MOBO died or it's the PSU all along, I will try cleaning CMOS and PWD..... One thing I know is that, when my monitor is turned off, it actually does not shutdown, but then when I turn it on, then it shuts down and turns on repeteadly. Here are specs btw: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 4GB Ram DDR2 Nvidia Geforce 8500GT 300w Bestech PSU

Hello, While using my computer it froze and I have to plug out power to restart it. But it didn't restart, it now turns on and off repeatedly every 1-2 seconds. Yesterday, I opened the case and was just playing around(unplug and plug back things) and then everything started and worked normally, temperature were normal too. Today the problem is happening again. I can't remove graphics card. It's not coming out even after removing screws, I am not able to even move the other hook. Without removing graphics card I can't even remove RAM Also, I tried removing four pin cable connected to PSU(suggested in video) and the PC just started. Please help

Hey there ! I'm sorry I'm sure such a thing has already been recommended millions of times, but I just can't find it. My PC has had this problem where everytime I plug something USB that is a bit power hungry (VR Headset, Hard drive) it just immediately turns off. It did that and now 2 days ago it just turned off while I was playing Star Wars Battlefront 2 while watching a video in PiP. I need to make sure my power supply is my problem here, but for that I'd need a software that reads all my hardware's date, like HWMonitor does but constently saves everything to a log file so that I can see what went on. Where can I find such a piece of software ? Thanks !!

So I recently started a Minecraft server on my PC and I would like to keep my PC running at night but I just can't sleep with the fan noise. Is there a way to turn off all fans on my pc (CPU,GPU,System Fans) easily without having to go into the bios. I tried it with msi Afterburner and Dragon Center but even if I set the fans to 0 they still spin a little. So basically a button I could press in the evening and having my PC run all night without any noise.

Hello guys/gals I've tried searching but was not able to find anything regarding my issue. Checked google, LTT, reddit and I just cant seem to find anything. Maybe someone here can point me to a direction or a solution. So here it goes. My issue is I have to power cycle my pc "about 80% of the time" every time before I can boot it. I don't even get a post, error code, message, nothing. The keyboard and mice light up as they are rgb to indicate they have power but that's it. When that happens I need to flick the power switch on the PSU to cut all power wait 3secs and flick it again, after that it turns on with no problem. However this has been happening since I built it, and I've built multiple one and never had an issue. So I'm not sure if this is a falling component or something that is just not right, or if it's the BIOS all together or more then that. I thought it as PSU, so I bought a new one and still same concern. I have moved all components to new tower case so all the cables have been reseated and reinstalled the components such as RAM, fans, GPU, PSU. Have not reinstalled the CPU as they requires extra work and effort as I just moved the mobo with cpu and cooler to new case. I know this is strange I've been battling this issue since the beginning. I always hoped Linus crew will make a video on how to diagnose a problem such as this or to give users a direction but never happen. ( P.S: would be a great video in my opinion as these things do happen and would be a great way to tell others what to start looking for or how to look into it or self diagnose ) I've read that it could be BIOS or even mobo its self. However I still come down to my same conclusion on why is it that after a cycle the Pc turns on after but, if I don't cycle the PSU it just won't boot or even power. I can try and turn it on but I don't get anything. I just lights up my keyboard and mice but that is all. And if I keep powering pc it won't do anything. I have to cycle it to power it on. I've have not reset CMOS, only because I have my fans programmed in bios and XMP profile which isn't a big deal but fans were quiet annoying to set to my liking were it can keep it cool and noise level low to my surroundings. My system is: Intel I7, 10700k ( 10th gen 5.1hz ) ARTIC Freezer 34 eSports DUO MSI MAG Z590 Torpedo Gaming Motherboard Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32GB EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 XC3 - 10GB Samsung 870 EVO 500GB Samsung 970 EVO plus nvme SSD 2TB Cooler Master MWE Gold 850 V2 If there is any more information please let me know and lets see if we can sole this together because I just can't seem to find the solution. Thanks in advance.

I've a red and black color scheme. But I've bought this AIO which has a blue LED build-in it. It's the Cooler Master MasterLiquid Pro 240. Link: http://www.coolermaster.com/cooling/cpu-liquid-cooler/masterliquid-pro-240/ Is there any way I can turn that light off? I'm using electric tape to block it. But it does look good. Suggestions are appreciated.

Having a strange issue (at least that's what I think). When I'm playing CSGO, my screen sometimes turns off. The LED power button is still lit, but the display goes full black. It's not just showing a black screen, it just turns off fully with no backlight (as if it was off). Sometimes it happens for a second, sometimes it just stays black unless I pull out the power cord and plug it back in. The power button doesn't work when it's blacked out either. This only happens when playing CSGO. Not during internet browsing or anything else like that. Not even in other games. I tested BF1, overwatch, Forza horizon 3 and watch dogs 2 and none have the issue. Some facts about my setup: The monitor having problems is a BenQ xl2730z (i have freesync and 144hz on) (connected with display port) It has two other monitors on either side which are BenQ rl2755hm i5 4460 r9 390x drivers all updated 16gb ram 150-400 fps when playing counter strike Sometimes it happens more often than others.

Hey guys! I' ve got an unexpected problem with my 7-yrs laptop. Yeah, that's right - 7 YEARS! Damn. Of course it's not a huge problem, because I have 2 more laptops and 2 more PCs, but I want to fix my Acer 7740G either. It bumps white screen and turns off. Usually (95%) when browsing Net. Chrome or MS Edge. Doesn't matter. What I have already done: 1) Changed thermal compound 2) Updated drivers 3) Checked RAM and HDD health 4) Scanned with CCleaner, Norton and Malwarebytes And that still takes place! Oh, I could forgot, no battery, only a charger - I use that as a deskop replacement in the basement. No overheating - checked that and vacuumed inside. One thing I have observed is nearly every time 100% HDD usage. That' s strange, isn't it? I have already turned off any unnecessary services. And till last Saturday it was ok, but today it happened one more time. Does anyone know what it could be?

So I'm just wondering, do you guys leave your PC's running in sleep mode or hybernate while your not using it or turn it off? Also, I've been testing the loop for 48 hours, all good so far but I have to mve the lower oart of the loop every time I drain it a little, is that going to cause a leak at some point?

Okay, so, I'm a bit surprised and frightened atm. Basically, what happened is that I put my pc to sleep mode and after a while I forgot it's in sleep mode and shut off the PSU and unplugged it. I did some rearranging of cables inside my case and i unplugged and plugged in again a fan. At this point, it hit me - my pc was in sleep mode, it wasn't completely shutdown before I unplugged it. I plugged it back in (keep in mind it had been off for a good 15-20 mins) and turned it on. The bootup process went unusually slow, and then, I logged in, and all my open programs were still there. So, now I ask the questions: 1. Is this normal? 2. Could I have damaged something? 3. What should I do next?

Hey guys, I'd like to know what just happened here. I have put in a new cpu and updated BIOS before that and now my computer turned off and on by itself a few times until I turned off the power button on back. Can anyone tell me what just happened? This all started about a week ago i think a couple days after i got my USB expansion card (ROSEWILL RC-508) i don't know if that has anything to do with my issue but that works fine but my computer doesn't turn off, windows shuts down but my computer doesn't turn off like the power stays on and sometimes even my fans ramp up. I think windows restarts rather than shuts down because an application that usually only comes on with my computer when i restarted it now comes on when i "shut down" my computer. basically i press the windows shut down button then my computer stays on so i flick the PSU switch off then when I turn the switch on again the computer comes right back on no matter how long its been off and if its on and i hold the power button it shuts down windows but the computer stays on and if I press the power button again then windows starts up again. I've tried so many things to fix this i took the expansion card out and restarted my computer, updated the bios (when i tried to update my bios with m-flash the system went to restart to boot into m-flash but turned off and didn't come back on so i turn off the PSU switch and turned it back on and then it booted into m-flash), cleared the cmos, took out my ram and put it back in. I don't know what to do and this is killing me someone please help me Specs: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Hf1xLxl5gJorSKg9p7lQxPHeUEqnNMwJ5y-vjkjY0fs/edit?usp=sharing and yes my system is originally from ibuypower but with some things upgraded and added

Hello everyone. First post here so sorry if it's in the wrong place. This is also copy and pasted from another forum I posted on so apologies if someone is googling this and seeing similarities. I'm having issues with my computer that I built. It's probably around 3 years old and I'm running an MSI Z97 mobo, I7 4790k and 16 GB of RAM. Originally, I had an issue with it looping at boot but found out it was a bad stick of ram. I replaced that and am able to get to the Windows login screen. The issue I have now is that my keyboard and mouse will have power when I turn it on but will then lose all power after POST so I can't log in. I've tried hooking the mouse and keyboard up to different computers and they work. I've also tried every combination of USB port on my computer with all the same results. If I turn my computer on and off the same thing will happen but if I hit the reset button it will not. I've tried replacing the CMOS battery with no help. I've also tried to set different options in my BIOS with little no success (such as enabling the USB ports). One time I royally screwed up my computer when messing around with options. I've also seen a lot of stuff on different forums with similar issues of logging in to go to an older version of Windows but my issue is that I can't log in to get to that option. The last time I turned this thing on and used it was probably last year sometime when the problems started up and I got frustrated and stopped using it. I'm fully aware that my computer is kind of old and if the best option is to just build a new one I get that, I just don't want to spend that money if I don't have to. Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have two Monitor at my Desk. The primary Monitor is plugged in over DVI and my second one is over HDMI. Now i wanna get rid of my second one but everytime i unplug the HDMI cable nomatter if from the Monitor or the GPU my primary Monitor goes black. In the Bios everything is ok. Works over 15 min. I deinstalled the Drivers in safemode with DDU, installed newest Drivers for my R9 290X and as soon as i restart my PC and log in the same thing happens if the HDMI cable isn't plugged in for the secondary Monitor. I flashed the gpu Bios but still the same Problem. Does anybody have any Idea how to fix this Issue? I need the second Monitor for another Project and i also need more space on my Desk. Reinstalling Windows is not an option.

Hi! I've delayed this post for some time trying to find what causes the issue, but I give up. The issue is, my PC turns off suddenly (and then back on) by itself at random moments. Here is my specs: CPU: AMD A10-7850K MotherBoard: Asus A68HM-K GPU: GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (4 GB) RAM: 8 GB DDR3-1866 PSU: EVGA 500W 80+ (bought in february) This has started happening when summer hit my city (I live in Buenos Aires) and the power consumption increased. At that time (end of december of 2017) I had a generic power supply. So by February after getting back from holidays I bought the PSU listed above. That made the sudden turn offs decreased by a lot. (I was having one every 2 or 3 days, with the new PSU I had one a week or less). I thought what caused the issue was the heat along with the summer that had my house with more temps (average of 25°C or more) overall and a less reliable electric connection (In Buenos Aires is common to have power outages in summer due to high comsuption due to Air Conditioners principally). But now it's Fall (it's 15°C outside) and I just booted my computer back to Windows (I also have Ubuntu) and it turned off out of nowhere after I signed in. A few days ago while watching a movie and some other times while playing Paladins. Thats why I ask for advice here, I have no clue what's going on. Should be noted that I asked some other people in the internet about weird things going on in my room (when the air conditioner starts working my monitor would go black for a second and then back to normal) and they told me that I have low tension in my room. I think that may have to do with my PC issues too, but I would like to know how to solve it; knowing that I cant change the hardwire of my home. Also, the fact that I don't know how to track the problem (because after turning on again it works like nothing have happened) makes it way more difficult to understand Sorry if it got a bit too long, but it's a lot I don't understand and I preferred to over-explain other than leaving things without explanation. Thanks in advance.

Hi, I have a asus laptop with windows 7 and ubuntu. Eveything works fine, except when I try to turn off the laptop using the windows or ubuntu button, the screen goes black, but the cpu fan and the power led keeps working. I have to hold the power button 5 seconds to shut down the laptop. I have the same issue on safe mode or even on a live dvd.

So I have a PC with an I7 4790K, GTX 970, Maximus Hero VII mobo, 16Gb G.skill RAM and a Noctua NH-D15 CPU cooler which tends to suddenly turn off. I've checked for temperature problems running AIDA 64 to stess CPU and Furmark to stess GPU. Temps were normal. PC turns off randonmly, I also used memtest to check RAM. I can be gaming, surfing the web, watching some movie and suddenly ploof: power off. I've tried to see if it's the power from the wall or the power strip but it's seems they are OK (tested with another computer). So I think it may be the PSU. My actual PSU is a NOX Urano TX 850W PSU. I know it's not the best PSU there is but I got it from another PC to get better components with my budget. Do you guys have any idea of what other things I can tes to see if it's the PSU or another thing? My bank account won't be happy if I have to buy a new PSU

Hello folks, what I was trying to do was manually or automatically turn off the HDD in my system for the following reasons: 1. Silence 2. Extend the lifespan I have a HDD that I only use for mass storage - big documents and CAD models. Also I have to note that I use it very rarely, like once in a week or sometimes just 2-3 times a day. I use SSD as my main drive and I keep everything I access regulary on that drive. I've tried using the power plan option to turn off HDD after 6sec of it being inactive, but although the drive isn't being accessed at all, it takes up to 10min for it to turn off (stop spinning). I was also wondering if using the 6sec time to turn off HDD could impact my SSD's performance, or it will never go inactive due to the OS being installed on it? It would be awesome if there was an option to turn it off manually and then let it start spinning when I access it, or leave it completely turned off untill I access it and then turn it back off manually. I'm using a define r5 and my system is unhearable, at least for me, in every scenario except gaming and editing/modelling. I am also using a Maximus VII Ranger so I was wondering if there is an option I could use in the bios or some of the board's software? Win 10 enterprise x64 Thanks in advance.
