Hey guys, I’m planning on building myself a new rig that will be used for concert / theater touring (when everything will open up again). The rig will on the road mainly be used for running Resolume which is a video playback / vj-ing software and I also will doe some live light video modification with it. I want the rig to be as versatile as possible so when I’m building a good machine for this I might as well realy want to use it to do pre-programming for lighting on it using Capture 2021. This is a software program used for drawing a concert layout and pre programming the lighting etc. (https://resolume.com/ - https://www.capture.se/) So after this info let me quickly answer the main questions 1. Budget & Location Budget around €3000,- and I’m located in the Netherlands 2. Aim The aim of this rig is as described above 3. Monitors What I will hookup to the rig are a few different things For programming one 50’’ 4K tv For drawing one ultrawide monitor (not sure which one recommendations are welcome) For live video playback multiple different projectors whatever the project requires. I want to be able to hookup around 5 orso at once monitor for using the software not included. I was thinking about the Blackmagic Design DeckLink Duo 2 but anything else is also welcome this is just the only brand I know that makes them… 4. Peripherals I do need all new peripherals but my budget (around €3000) is without them 5. Why are you upgrading? I used to run live shows on an Green hippo hippotizer HD and well it still runs winXp so I guess that’s why haha. For drawing I currently use an gaming laptop (msi gs63vr 6rf) but that one also is slowly dying now and will only be used for light gaming and office use once this build is completed 6. Please, No Dream Builds I hope you guys think it’s not an dream build but if it turns out to be I guess then the budget just comes up. I know there is a GPU shortage etc. I’d like to just spec it together on MSRP and just wait till parts come available etc. etc. plus it’s not that there are any live shows to work right now. (Ohyeah the machine must fit in a 4U rack enclosure. But that’s just a regular pc case with mounting ears on them so it will be fine (was thinking about this one for easy monitoring when in use without an actual monitor but not sure if it’s any good https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/32922917392.html?spm=a2g0s.8937460.0.0.1e342e0eyc02uS)) Cheerst guys, I hope some of you have got good sugestions on this link is a list that I made last week not sure if it’s any good tho https://tweakers.net/gallery/800593/wenslijst/

Hello LTT forum, this is my first time posting here and from a quick look around, it doesn't seem like anyone's discussing this but I want to have a home theater in my house and am wondering what the best move would be for display? My budget isn't massive, probably around the margin of $700~1500 USD for just this, and the room is about the size of a small classroom or a decent master bathroom. I don't have exact measurements, but if completely necessary, I will gather them. I want the display to go on a wall on the shorter end, so I can have 2 rows of couches in front of it and leave room behind them for other things. I am also willing to buy a corresponding screen for a projector if it also fits in the budget. I am hoping for decent quality 4k video at around 75-90 inches, or whatever larger size that may be better. While my main question is whether a projector or TV will fit my needs better, recommendations for each would also be helpful. And even a nice sound system for the room (~500$ budget idk) could be very helpful. I am also all for good brand consistency, like LG tv and LG speakers, but it's not necessary.

The article is from Hot Hardware and basically Samsung is in the process of getting DCI certification for a 34-foot 4K HDR LED screen for use in Theaters. According to the article: http://hothardware.com/news/samsung-34-foot-4k-hdr-led-display-movie-theaters I'm really looking forward to a better picture quality at the theaters, especially with some of the issues that our local theater has had with their projectors, but I'm thinking that the peak brightness on this might blind you as well in some movie scenes. Either way, hopefully this will either drive down the cost of either good home projectors or home screens and allow for better movie experiences.

We got a 4K 70 inch tv with a Samsung blu ray player as the receiver and got a surround sound system, but audio isn’t Surround, even when we watch video recorded with surround sound it won’t work, all the speakers work but no surround, and when we go to the receiver itself and press the test button, only two speakers work and the right speaker audio comes out of the center speaker, we have all the connections in properly, please help

Hello friends I want to make it brief but still understandable. We safed some money for a long time "dream" of ours to upgrade our home entertainment. The flat will have full automatization from lights to AC/heating that gets controlled via a tablet. Boxes in the walls of different rooms will be also individually controllable from the tablet. The TV with Dolby Surround should also be connected to the tablet. A "server" (is it called that?) will be hidden in the corridor that is connected to a sound system (to play the music), a bluray 4k player and the server for the software control i assume. What I would need from you (because im a bit of a nooby here) is to understand what specifics I could or should use here. Its a lot of money and I would probably buy a 40 inch Full HD Tv. Until someone said that its probably better to go with a 4k HDR TV with Smart TV. The bottom Line is I would need help to choose the specifics (not brand just specifications) of the individual components. I would also appreciate some tipps and ideas of how to make this work. Questions: What kind of TV 55-65 Inch should I use? What specification should it have to work the way I described? What kind of Sound System would be needed to achieve controllable audio in different rooms or from the TV etc? What kind of future proofing should I look for in the technology? What tablet and tablet remote control solution would you recommend? What service solution for TV software would you recommend? Bluray rental and TV-Shows? Do you have any additional ideas that I can not think of now? Thank you very much for your help. Any idea, any comment even if it just answers one aspect of my question is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Hi everyone! I am building an addition on my house and I'm looking for input. I used to be an avid computer builder, modder, and overclocker more than 10 years ago. Life got busy and I haven't built anything since . I'm looking to build two computers for my wife and I to use. I have an equipment room with two 44u racks (plenty of space). I need a rack mount case for her build. I also want to output the computer signal to my media room, office, and Zwift room. I am planning on mirroring the screen to all displays unless someone has a better idea. Uses: CAD (Solidwork/Inventor) - me only Ripping movies to server - me only Gaming (mostly Zwift http://zwift.com/what-is-zwift) General internet and office activities My screens will be: Epson 5040ub projector (Media Room) 2x - 45-55 inch UHD curve (Zwift room) 2x - 40 inch UHD (Office) I live in California (USD$) and I'd like to spend under $2,000 for both computers combined. I am willing to go a little higher if the gains are worth it. Attached is a picture of my floor plan. If you have any questions let me know. Thanks for the help!

Hi Guys! I would like to build a HTPC from my old Office PC. For this I still need a graphics card. I would not spend more than 80 € (83.16USD; 112.90CAD). Can you suggest a GPU? My system: Motherboard: MSI H61MA-E35 Processor: Intel Core i3 2100 Cooler: Stock Graphics: On Board Storage: 1 TB Seagate - Blue Ray Drive - Windows 7 - 4GB DDR3 RAM Thank you

A friend of mine has a huge collection of movies and wants to make a new home theater. In order to help out I thought I would ask you wonderful people here. Would 5400rpm green drives be fast enough to play blueray movies easily? Also will they be fast enough to later play 4k movies in the future? If so I could buy rather a lot of them for pretty cheap here. If not that is fine as well because I want my friend to get a good system up and running Thanks a lot for helping guys

I'm dreaming about my future and the theater room we will soon have. My screen budget is $3500. Size and Picture are the most important to me. So the TV I like so far is this one: https://www.costco.com/Samsung-82%22-Class-(81.5%22-Diag.)-4K-UHD-QLED-LCD-TV.product.100485491.html My wife and I went to Costco and she says it os too small. So we are looking into projectors... I don't recognoze any of the brands. I'd prefer short throw and low maintenance. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi, I will move out soon and I was wondering what do I need to make a good home theater room. and I have a few question : - What type of room do I need to look for? - What are your recommendation for low, medium and high setup (AV receiver, speaker, etc)? - Should I go for a projector or a tv? - I will game and watch movie in that setup. - whats is your opinion on 7.1.4 vs 5.1.4? Thx !

display Best All-Round Use Budget Home Theater Display
KirasNote posted a topic in Home Theater Equipment
Welcome to the Home Theater Debate Featuring HDR (High Dynamic Range) and WGC (Wide Color Gamut) 60Hz minimum (higher refresh rate is awesome, but not required in this specific debate) When Size is not an issue (paper thin or bulky as a 45in CRT) 32in Minimum (32in or 32ft, whatever you can find) Only focus is the best panel/projector & screen/some sort of magical video display device If you can save some bucks by dodging "Smart" functions or features that do not effect the display quality, do it What is the best All-Round Use Budget Top Quality Home Theater Display A perfect example is Linus's new video 'The TV for the 1%' Throughout the video he points out other MUCH cheaper versions that use the same panel. So if we tried to find what the top 15 or so in the world displays are... What is the cheapest version of that exact display technology? I half expect the answer to be some manner of purchasing the bare panel itself and 3D printing or good o'll DIY an enclosure to hold it. -
CNN Money - Amazon Landmark Theaters Washington Post - Amazon is reportedly thinking about buying Whole Foods of movie theaters This could be the start of something that would be direct competition to MoviePass, AMC A-List, etc. I'm thinking: Amazon Prime gives 1 free movie per month at Amazon Theaters. I'm also thinking if this happens, Amazon increases their Prime Membership again.

I've been posting somewhat regularly on r/mechanicalkeyboards and geekhack about this DIY mechanical keyboard lapdesk.project, but figured I'd put it here, too. I handmade some custom hard maple lapdesks for a built-in 60% wireless mechanical keyboard and replaceable mousepad. Perfect for those living room gaming and HTPC setups!

Greetings, Last year I bought a 55" Samsung H6400, a Sony BDP-S5500 blu-ray player and a PS4. The plan now is to buy a decent Atmos AV receiver with speakers included, my max budget is 900 euros with everything in total. All the devices will be connected to the AV, including the cable TV box which also uses HDMI. I was inclined to buy this: http://www.nl.onkyo.com/en/products/ht-s5805-125343.html it costs around 800 euros and it has Atmos. Two of these speakers project sound to the ceiling, although for best experience, there are ceiling speakers, but that ain't really an option. A few conditions, notes and questions: I plan to connect everything to the AV and using an optical cable from the TV to the AV. Is Atmos really worth it? If it's not worth it, maybe a 7.1 system? There is plenty of room for everything. Max price is 900 euros. I'm open to other options if you think they're worth it. Thanks in advance.

I know what I need to know about displays, but sound is confusing to me. I want to hook up a surround system to a UHD TV and UHD Blu-Ray player. I don't want the audiosystem to be annoying to use. By that I mean manually choosing the soundsystem, taking 30 seconds every time I turn on the TV. I have understood I should have a box (not sure the right name) to be the "master" that controls the audio in it self. Then it should be connected to speakers and a subwoofer. Should I buy a pack comptaining all I need? Is it hard to set up (cables and such)? Does this box need a special connection to my TV? Do all my video-outputs have to travel through my audiobox? (This would make it easier I must say) Is a certain audioconnection to my TV better than others? The UHD Blu-Ray player has an HDMI-Audio port, what does this mean towards the audiosystem? I find it hard to find out more on this topic. I might result to talking to an employee at an audiostore, but I want to be sincerly teached, without it being a salespitch... All help is very much appreciated. If anyone know a guide or something that would be great too.

Hello everyone! I'm here to tell you guys about an interesting project we're working on at my place of employment. I work at a enterprise technology distribution and integration center that is associated with PCMall, and we do a whole bunch of tasks and project ranging from imaging to building servers and computers, but on occasion we will get a large project that isn't exactly what we usually do. Now, this is one of the latter, specifically Atom Ticketing (link: https://www.atomtickets.com). What this system does is allow for people to pre-purchase tickets and concessions before you go to the theater, and can skip the lines. Now, the real interesting thing about this is that when you enter the theater, the system automatically detects that you have entered the theater via cellular. So, once this system discovers that you have entered the theater, it just rings up the order automatically and prompts the employees to start getting your concessions ready. Now, I don't know all of the nuances of how it goes works, but that's what I've gathered. This system is coming out first to Landmark and Regal theater/cinema chains due to investments, so if you have one of those nearby (especially the Landmark ones, those are the first ones to go out), you might see it within the next couple months. I have included a couple pictures of what the tablets and servers look like (and a bonus image of another big project we had, but much more normal than this) and I hope you guys find it interesting! Link to pictures: http://imgur.com/a/pcWRR P.S.: Typed this thing out on a phone, sorry if there are spelling/grammar issues.

As the topic says, I'm a noob to this. I have a decent PC built for gaming (most/all games 60fps+ @ 1080) and just realized that people are using their PC's to watch cable TV(???). I'm an idiot, I know. Now my situation follows as this: I live in an apartment complex that has a cable subscription and TV included in the rent, but I have no idea who my provider is but I could easily find out (rarely watch cable, I'm a gamer). I want to know if I can even do this at this point and if I'm already paying for it I might as well use it right? Each room has a coax jack, and the TV included with the apartment doesn't use a set-top box or anything. Just plugs into the coax jack. I DO NOT WANT TO PIRATE CABLE TV EITHER. I know people do it, but that isn't what I'm interested in. My questions are: 1) What hardware &/or software would I need to watch the current cable subscription I am paying for on my PC? (I'll post specs at the bottom) 2)Do I need anything from the cable company? I've read some about CableCARDs but I'm just not wrapping my head around it. Most info is outdated, unrelated, or I'm just a special person. PC Specs: OS-Windows 10 Home 64-bit PSU-Thermaltake 650W 80+ (idk the certification level) MOBO:Asrock Pro4 Z97 CPU:Intel i7 4790K, cooled with Thermaltake watercooler GPU:MSI R9 390 8G RAM:16GB ~2400mhz (GSKILL Ares, i think) MONITOR: Samsung 27E390, LED 1080 60hz 5ms response time, supposedly full HDTV support

I was at someones house a while ago and noticed something awesome in his tv setup. He has all devices connected to the one device with a half touch screen remote. For example, his PS4, DVR, Apple TV and other devices were all connected to this one device, this device was able to turn all items connected to it on (e.g DVR, PS4, etc...) and automatically switch the input. It also came with a remote that was able to be connected to all the devices to control the DVR like a regular remote. What is this called and where can I get it??????

Someone on the forums gave me the idea of converting an old pentium 4 into an entertainment system, but I am unsure what operating system to use. It's a Pentium 4 HT with 1-2gb of ram w/ two 40 gigabyte HDDS. Any suggestions for a operating system for watching videos/netflix if that's possible? Thanks!

I had a Sony Dolby Digital 5.1 sound system in my living room. I now moved house and I was forced to only use 3 speakers and a sub woofer since I didn't set up wiring for the rest. I was wondering if there was any way to make them wireless or to use them without cables attached to the walls. Ps the receiver is quite old so it doesn't have very new features. Also speakers use plain copper cables to connect to the receiver.
