Currently: Asrock x370 Taichi, newest BIOS Ryzen 5800X 2x8GB CL14 3200 RAM Since the newer Zen chips have a far better memory controller nowadays, what do you think the likelihood is that I can get 2x32GB CL16 3200 RAM working on this motherboard? QVL's worthless since they haven't updated the memory QVL for some time. I already bought some Mushkin Redline 3200, a 2x32GB kit with 16-18-18-38 timings, but I'm curious if anyone else already knows if this has a chance at working or not.

I've got an Asrock X370 Taichi motherboard running the 2.4.0 BIOS (or perhaps the 3.0.0...pretty sure it's the 2.4.0). I have zero issues with memory compatibility (using a 2x8GB GSkill Flare X CAS 14 kit). CPU is a Ryzen 7 1700. I'm about to add another 2x8GB (exact same kit and specs as the first set) to the board. Is there any point in upgrading the BIOS? EDIT: I'm actually already on 3.3.0, so this would be upgrading from there. The support page for the BIOS for this board really doesn't lend itself to pointing out benefits: https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/X370 Taichi/index.asp#BIOS That is, aside from using 3.3.0 as the bridge BIOS, then 5.1.0, then a maximum of 5.6.0 since I have a first generation CPU. Ideally I'd like to hear from people with the same board, but I welcome everyone's perspective here. I'm currently of the mindset of if I don't have any issues after adding the extra memory, I shouldn't bother. What do you think?

Without the heat sink armor on, RGB on the IO shield will not work. Is there any work around store get the IO shield to work without heat sink armor. Also it is a strange 4 pin header on the motherboard. I added a picture of the header and the back of the heat sink armor. It seems to be 5v.

Anyone know of a store (brick-and-mortar or online) in the US that actually has Asrock X370 Taichi boards (not auction)? Seems like everyone local and many online shops are out. Either they're having trouble keeping them in stock because of popularity or Asrock isn't shipping enough to keep up demand I guess.

For the longest time, I was having issues getting my CPU to overclock without getting really warm, even at a slight one - at 5.0 it was just throttling all over. Last night, I downloaded the new 2.0 BIOS from the AsRock site, installed it, re-did the OC for the RAM to 3200mhz, and then tried a 4.6 OC again - it was cooler - about 10 C cooler (it was in the 70's before the update at this setting)! So I tried the 4.7 OC preset - again, only got up into the 60's! Keep in mind, this is under a Corsair h100i V2 240mm cooler during this whole time as well. I'm very impressed that this one update would bring temps down by that much!

Hardware: Ryzen 1700X ASRock Taichi X370 motherboard Corsair Vengeance LED 3200Mhz 16Gb (2x8) (I have only 1 stick plugged into the A2 slot) Geforce 8800GTS eVGA supernova 1050GS So just got the cpu/motherboard/ram combo. I did the smart thing and am running it outside before I actually install everything. However the system does not seem to be posting as it's cycling on these error codes, I'm just upgrading to ddr4 so I don't have another set of ram to test with. Afaik on the first boot the ram shouldn't be running on 3200mhz just yet, furthermore I have seen online people successfully running ryzen with the corsair vengeance led kits. Is it my RAM or is there something I'm missing. Video of the cycling https://youtu.be/BxTgeA_C0qs

I was debating for a long time over getting a Ryzen chip, or waiting for Coffee Lake. I waited unitl the solar eclipse reveal event, and no CL release so I pulled the trigger on Ryzen. I got an Asrock X370 Taichi with the sole intent of overclocking in mind. Along with it, a 16gb kit of G.Skill Tridentz F4-3200C16D-16GTZKW and a Ryzen r5 1600 (I plan on upgrading to the 8 core version of Ryzen 2, or Ryzen+ whatever it's called later down the road, so this is more of a placeholder) I upgraded to the latest bios, and am using a Scythe Mugen 5 cpu cooler with Kryonaut Grizzly paste. So obviously I don't have the "best" coolers, but I imagine it would be a decent little step up over the stock. I've read many reports of people who are able to achieve 3.8ghz on the stock cooler alone, with headroom to spare. With my setup, the absolute highest I am able to achieve is 3.8ghz with 1.312 volts. Temps aren't really an issue. During gaming they're in the low to mid 50's, and during stress testing (Prime95 and Intel Burn Test) they're about 65-66c max. Did I completely lose the silicon lottery, or is this good for a Ryzen 1600? Just about every review on the chip I've seen states that 3.9-4ghz are easily reached. No matter how much voltage I put, I cannot touch any higher. Even with 1.41v I couldn't hit 3.9ghz and I really don't feel comfortable putting anymore voltage. I'm also having an issue with my motherboard that if I manually overclock with a static voltage, the chip downclocks itself to 1.5ghz. No matter what ghz or voltage I have it set to. I have all power saving features disabled, and am set to prefer maximum performance on windows. I can overclock with offset without any issue. I'm wondering if the bios being buggy is maybe hindering my oc potential?

Hey guys, I have an AsRock Taichi and would like to upgrade my audio setup. I was wondering if the Taichi would be able to power it the DT 800s by Beyerdynamic (600ohm) Thanks in advance Jack

Why are you upgrading? - 10 years Old pc can't cope with work (editing and rendering videos took way too long) Major Concerns 1. Would this build work? will there be any compatible issues? Plug and Play? 2. Do I need a stronger Air Cooler with this build or is there a better model suited in this build? (I know liquid cooling often times are better, but the maintenance put me off, so I'll be a noob and stay with air cooling ^_^). 3. Is the Ram I specified above compatible with the Ryzen 7 1800x and Taichi Mobo? Plug and play style (Feel free to recommend alternatives 32 gb ddr4 ram). 4. Is the HDD storage appropriate for my needs or is it too slow? This is where I'm storing the majority of my data, moving to SSD for editing - then move back to HDD for final storage. Should I invest in the 7200rpm pro 128mb or 256 mb or is this fine? (Feel free to recommend). On estimate I need at least 6TB for 3-5 years, planning to add more in the future if required. 5. Is 2 cooling fans enough for this buy ? or I would need 3? I'm Planning to keep this Pc for around 3-5 years as an editing pc and some casual gaming.

ASRock x370 Taichi errors... pls halp
CarolinaRoots posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hey fellow nerds, My mobo has been acting funny lately, USB ports turning off being the most prominent and strange thing, but now it refuses to boot and gives me a set of unfamiliar error codes. They are: d3 b3 Rd 03 (o3?) 80 14 anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance frandz -
I just put together my rig last Thursday and want to begin overclocking. I figured I would start with the RAM. Here is the build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/xrm7VY Here is the RAM: G.Skill - Trident Z 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory - https://pcpartpicker.com/product/sykwrH/gskill-memory-f43200c16d16gtzb Here is the motherboard: ASRock - X370 Taichi ATX AM4 Motherboard - https://pcpartpicker.com/product/fZKhP6/asrock-x370-taichi-atx-am4-motherboard-x370-taichi I have never overclocked before and honestly, I could not find good info on how to do it. So guides, videos, etc would be helpful. I literally know nothing. I have been reading all day and I have learned a fair amount. I was hoping to dive in when I get home and do something. Also how long would it approximately take to complete it?

So just put together a new build with: X370 taichi R7 1700 Gskill flair x F4-3200C14D-16GFX Noctua d15 evga 1300 watt psu Samsung evo 960 It boots sometimes but more often than not it gives me error code 62 and no post. Then If fiddle with it turn it on and off clear cmos and eventually I get it to post but I'm trying to at least be able to boot into the bios consistently to try over clockingthe cpu and ram. Has anyo okne else had this problem or maybe know some troubleshooting steps for this

Hi, I'm planning to build a new pc, but I need to know if the RAM I chose is compatible with my motherboard: Motherboard: AsRock x370 Taichi RAM: G.SKILL Trident Z RGB ddr4 3600MHz CPU: Ryzen 7 1700 The problem is that I read the motherboard specs and they say that supports 3200+ (OC), so, can I use a 3600? I don't think so Then I chose the 3200MHz version of the same model, but then I saw this on the asrock website: Reading this seems that the maximum supported RAM frequency is way less then 3200 Than I also found this, where there is a big gap between 2400 and 3200 What RAM should I buy?

I was wondering if I will be able to use my RAM from my X99 build in order to save myself money. I'm currently using the CORSAIR VENGEANCE RGB 32GB (4x8GB) DDR4 3000MHz C15 Desktop Memory Black. I looked over the webpage for the Asrock X570 Taichi and under RAM they list various frequencies including 2933 and 3200 but they do not list 3000. So obviously this has me concerned. I believe that I'm going to need to purchase a new RAM kit for this build, but I would like some advice just to make sure in case I'm wrong. The motherboard's website for reference https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/X570%20Taichi/ The RAM I purchased in the past for reference https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XRG59PK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ~Terry

So, if you look at the minimum temp for the CPU right up there at the top, you'll see that its minimum temp is -10,048.0 C and obviously, that is more than a little impossible. You'll see int he HWinfo screen shot I've got an ASRock X570 Taichi and a Ryzen 9 3900X. I've had it up and running for just over 2 weeks now and haven't seen this happen before (or ever in any of my previous builds). Bios is updated to 1.60 as of a little over a week ago. CPU isn't overclocked (yet). Not sure if it matters, but I'm using an EVGA CLC280 AIO. I also let my pc go into sleep mode after its been idle, so it doesn't get restarted on a daily basis. Anyone seen anything like this before? Glitch or a sensor die? Honestly, with all the new parts and all the bugs getting worked out of them I'm really not sure.

Hey guys, I plan on getting the 3950x when it comes out, and I've been trying to decide on a motherboard for the past 2 or so weeks. The two options I came up with are the x470 Taichi Ultimate, and the x570 Taichi (both from Asrock, duh) On paper, the choice should be obvious. Taichi Ultimate has the following pros over the (x570) Taichi: No pesky Chipset Fan Cheaper (I can get it for 270CHF, and the taichi is 340CHF) (NB: CHF-USD conversion rate is roughly 1:1) It has some other pros (such as the 10 gig lan) and cons (such as the lack of wifi6 and pcie4) that I don't really care about. I mostly care about 2-3 features when it comes to motherboards: good VRM, external Clear CMOS button, and good-enough bios. Is there anything I'm missing about those two boards? Such as a feature I should care about, or a flaw that would make one of them drop out entirely? Also, feel free to recommend another board if you think it would be relevant. Like I said, the decision should be obvious, but I can't help but doubt myself a little. Cheers

So I was looking for a higher end X470 motherboard for my 2700X build with 32gb 3000 ram. My original plan was the ASUS X470 F Gaming but I found out there was a huge discount of Taichi combo going on at Newegg.com. Never try ASROCK before. I've heard ASROCK has great quality on making motherboard. This taichi even has wifi adapter and F-gaming doesnt. Therefore I can save some extra money from that. But I also heard ASROCK has poor RMA in US. I'm struggling right now, my budget is able to cover the ASUS motherboard but I'm happy to save some money. I don't think I have a clear understand on the position of products' warranty. So in quality, price and warranty aspects should I take the "risk?" and go for the Taichi or stay with X470 F gaming.

Hello! I decided to start water cooling but I'm still on step one which is my case... Since a girl and I are going to be twins with our builds somewhat I went with the Lian li razer edition. My problem is that in order to control the light I need a compatible mobo. I don't mind upgrading to use the lights on the case Because I do want to a color scheme. Not being able to use or control the lights on the case would make it a waste. My options were the x470 M7, Taichi, Taichi ultimate. Unless there is a better option on this list or elsewhere. I don't know much about motherboard but from what I know some are better for OC and others for other features like speed or internet speed like the Taichi. Current Specs Ryzen 5 2600 (OC to 4.1GHZ) 16gb Corsair RGB ven Ram Msi gaming z 1080 b450 a-pro mobo limitations are any board compatible with Razer Synapse 3 ( loaded the picture for convenience) Sum up what I said... which motherboard would be better the m7 or the Taichi from this list. If there is another one not on the list that beats both of these than any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read this!
