I'm on a new device (Pixel 6) that can utilize WiFi calling, but calls too frequently drop. The drops seem to coincide with transitions between network hardware and/or WiFi bands. I can't remember if the router is set to Auto for channel selection or not so that might be it also. Not having used WiFI calling on my previous device I'm not sure how to optimize my network and/or device for use with WiFi calling. Can anyone provide some guidance? I have tried googling for a solution, but haven't found anything useful.

Anyone else seeing pings being blocked from T-Mobile devices (Phones and 5G home internet). Noticed when one of our users reported the issue (MS Teams stopped working and would not connect) and I could replicate the issue. We now have 5 other users that have an issue with MS Teams not connecting. MS Teams will ping Microsoft to verify connectivity before it connects. So if it has issues with ping it will think the MS servers are unreachable. After spending two hours on the phone with T-Mobile they informed me that ping is no longer a supported feature. I am not sure I believe this but wanted to see if other people have seen this issue. I also tested pinging any URL and they all fail 100% when on T-Mobile.

-I have VVM(Visual Voicemail) enabled from T-Mobile's side. -Have been on support from both T-Mobile and One Plus and they are both pointing to the other. -Have tried the VVM app from T-Mobile to bait the phone to piggy-bag the settings from that and then uninstall. -There is no separate VVM app on my applications list like some guides point to. -I have googled and tried workarounds from other users that claimed it has worked for them... https://www.reddit.com/r/OnePlus9Pro/comments/mp1fna/visual_voicemail/ Am i the only one here that is upset that a core function of a phone doesn't work properly? I am not interested in getting a 3rd party application to look at my VM.

Sup LTT! Well after all the excitement from my building satellite dish LTE signal boosters out of spare parts thread, I've been really looking forward to making it back out to the middle of no where to continue testing. So much so that this time, we brought two almost six foot long yagis with us! This was turned into a video for YouTube that covers the testing of a MOFI4500-4GXeLTE-V2 cellular modem/router in it's stock configuration, behind the satellite dish LTE booster from the thread before, & with all it's antennas being replaced for it's new "extreme build" taking it out of the realm of practical & into the realm of madness! Each different setup is ran through an HTML5 speed test with the modem status page open to show off the signal values live. I also discuss the Time To Live changes in the most recent versions of the proprietary OpenWRT builds that MOFI releases for their products & how it does a much better job spoofing the original cellular device then before. This actually has a rather large impact on latency across the board so FTW! It's run time is just shy of twelve minutes & is overall meant to be viewed in a humorous non-technical to death light. I'm not a professional YouTuber or anything of the sort so quality wise I'm an amateur one man band but I still think it's pretty watchable. It's presented in 4K @ 60FPS! Feel free to check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IddB63xWT7A For a build log / parts list the current version is utilizing: 1x - MOFI4500-4GXeLTE-V2 2x - ZDA 698-755 MHz Yagi Antenna (16 dBi) 2x - LMR400 Jumper (25 feet) (N Male to SMA Male) 2x - Gas Tube Lightning Surge Protector (N-female to N-male bulkhead) (0-3 GHz) (90V) 2x - Alfa 2.4ghz WiFi SMA Antenna (9dBi) 1x - Linco 10ft Studio Stand (+2 misc random wood blocks for mounting) 1x - Unlimited Data SIM Card (T-Mobile) Though it's very important to note that this list is missing two four foot copper poles plus the additional wire required to properly ground those antennas. (this step is not featured in the video as a final location was yet to be determined & dicking around was at hand first) As mentioned in the video I stopped into Collins Communications and spoke with them at length about the importance of properly grounding such devices. They also shared a number of pretty frightening lightning strike situations they've dealt with in the past so do not downplay the importance of that step. I'm going to try and film the installation of this setup at it's final location so that people can see what it takes to do it properly. Not to be a spoiler but in the video our original speeds on the unit itself were 1.9mbs down. Behind the sat. dish we pulled 3.35mbs down. With Yagi power we pulled 17.59mbs down before any refinement or adjustment. (just first location it was put up, pointed out a window, and turned on with both yagi's in vertical positions) Overnight as the video was uploading (10gb video!) I noticed my steam client downloaded a bunch of game updates at 25mbs!! I really wish I would've caught results like that on the speed test while recording. I know speeds will once again come up when we get it outside the house, properly mounted, & aimed. I don't know how long it'll take for that video to come out so for now this will have to hold everybody over! Also I'd like to note that I'm not in this field at all, I'm just a nerd having fun with some gear. If you're looking at all this and laughing as a man of the industry, feel feel to reply with a total knock out educational post! I promise you it will be read & any suggestions you have will be tried as soon as I can make it back out there to the middle of no where. One thing I've really enjoyed about posting these threads is the various responses from different communities. The age ranges are just all over the place from ArsTechnica, to LinusTechTips, to SmallBandwidthInnovation, to even places like /r/Networking. Alot of great ideas have just came out of no where thanks to the beauty of the internet. I'm always willing to look like an idiot infront of the people if it means progress gets made. So to everybody raging over the fact I should be pointing these at a major city, or tilting them differently, or just wanting to call me a n00b, well #solidbois, hit me up with that info on how to do it better. Anyways much love everybody, I hope you enjoy! 'Gobby

AT&T to limit video quality by default in hopes to help customers reduce data usage
Guest posted a topic in Tech News
American Telephone and Telegraph, more commonly known as AT&T, is one of the largest telecommunication conglomerates in the USA They currently provide over 300 million people with 4G LTE networks Today, they announced that they would limit the quality of mobile video content by early 2017 Not all hope is lost though given that users will still be able to turn off Stream Saver to view higher resolution I personally don't know how to react to this though it is expected given that I'm not an AT&T customer Sprint and T-Mobile have also started doing the same thing; they aim to help users reduce their usage to avoid paying higher fees Sources: ArsTechnica, RCR Wireless -
Hello LTT Forums! My family changed service providers from T-Mobile to Xfinity Mobile, but when I tried to use my S9+ (purchased from Amazon as "factory unlocked" with Amazon as the seller), my IMEI comes up as incompatible. I was told it had to do with 3G or something by the rep, but their forums said that they do not accept any models with "U1" at the end. Is there anyone here who is knowledgeable in the field that can help me understand what is the truth? From what I understand, my S9+ is 4G LTE capable and is no different physically than any other S9+ sold by Xfinity or Verizon. Also, if I take my activated SIM from my new iPhone 7 and put it into my Galaxy S9+, will it work fine or will there be any issues? I was told by one rep that both phones would brick, and another told me that the quality on my S9+ would be lower than standard. I know this is the ultimate first world problem, but I saved up for the S9+ and I am really attatched to it. I appreciate any help and can offer any additional information as needed. Thank you.

I have an LG V35 that I got for my birthday, since it's an old AT&T phone, unlocked for T-Mobile, it has some weird quirks, for instance, I can't send or receive MMS, I sometimes have to manually connect to nearby mobile networks, my Youmail doesn't work, and I have all the AT&T bloat ware. I am willing to factory reset, if it'll help. Does anybody know? I assume that rooting would help, but there's no simple process for the v35.

T-Mobile has gotten rid of data buckets. T-Mobile One (Name of the new plan) goes active on September 6th. Base plan is 70 dollars, and you get unlimited talk, text, and LTE data, binge on is on by default, and it costs 25 dollars to remove binge-on. Additionally, the data structure has gone a full circle. It's back to unlimited data on mobile, with no hotspot included(Unlimited 2g speeds only). You can purchase data hotspot allowances at $15 per 5GB. Pricing A positive aspect of this would be the 20 dollar tablet plan, you get unlimited LTE data on a tablet for 20 dollars, which is interesting. I'm sure this will bring up net neutrality issues since the base 70 dollar plan comes with binge-on like video compression. People seem to be angry that you have to pay 25 dollar to turn off video compression, but I see it as more of a 25 dollar discount for unlimited data users who choose to turn on binge-on. I'm not quite sure if this is a positive or negative move, but I'm sure it'll change some things in the industry again. My thoughts on the net neutrality issue: I think this is actually better than Binge-on. With Binge-on, only a select number of providers were whitelisted, which was discriminating against other providers that weren't part of the program. But with the new unlimited plan, every single provider gets the compression, and none of them have an advantage over another. I really don't see a problem with this. Also it's not like you're stuck with capped video quality, you do have the option to remove it, which requires a higher priced plan. I think this is very similar to how cable ISPs do speed tiers. Feel free to disagree with me, but at least explain it to me. Source: https://newsroom.t-mobile.com/news-and-blogs/rip-data-plans.htm

I recently got a samsung galaxy s7 edge and switched to t-mobile's service. I before had a galaxy s5 with an at&t plan. The internet on the s7 edge is ridiculously slow, taking ages for web pages to load, as well as the twitter app with replies and images taking even longer, even with 4 and sometimes 5 bar signal. My galaxy s5 on at&t had faster internet. Much faster. I did speed tests on the s7 and got roughly 75mb/s download and 34mb/s upload, yet it is still very slow when actually using apps and the internet. Is there anything that could solve this issue or at least make it better? Please leave suggestions as to what I could do, thank you.

I have a T-Mobile Galaxy S7 Edge that I purchased new online and unlocked it. It is currently running with an AT&T sim card. The phone seems to work without a problem except for the rare network disconnect. However, the most persistent issue has been with the Bluetooth. So far it has had this strange habit of restarting whenever I'm at the gym and using a pair of Beats Wireless 2 Bluetooth earbuds. I researched the issue and the first thing that popped up was that it might be an network issue, but it happens whether I'm connected to mobile or WiFi. I tried repairing the two but that didn't fix it. I'm unsure how a Bluetooth device could make a phone restart. I'm preparing to do a factory reset but that is a last resort. Thanks for any help.

Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL reported to be coming this week to T-Mobile, as low as $139 off contract By: Kareem Anderson of WinBeta Source: http://www.winbeta.org/news/alcatel-onetouch-fierce-xl-reported-coming-week-t-mobile-low-139-off-contract Well I for one am happy to see that the Windows Mobile platform is finally taking off. This helps to confirm there is indeed a call for a third platform in the mobile world. This is a follow up of the article below;

Back in November T-Mobile were making headlines with their new service called "Binge On". What the service did was allow T-Mobile customers to stream video from selected sites, at reduced quality, and the data would not count towards their monthly data cap. It sounds great in theory, but as it turns out T-Mobile has gotten a lot of flack for not being completely honest with their service. Among the companies complaining is Google. Many users noticed that YouTube was not one of the video platforms included in the Binge On program. That should not matter that much. If it's not in the program it should just work like normal video streaming without Bringe On, right? Wrong! As it turns out, if you have Binge On enabled then T-Mobile will "optimize" all videos you stream or download. So if you got Binge On then T-Mobile will cap you at 480p YouTube videos as well as counting it towards your data cap. What is even scarier are the things the EFF found when they looked into Bringe On. The things they tested were: Streaming in Browser - This was a video using the HTML5 <video> tag on their own servers. Their own servers are not part of Binge On and will therefore count towards the data cap. Direct Download - This was a video file being downloaded to the phone. Direct download, not streamed. Direct Download (Non-Video File Extension) - This test was the same as the direct download, but instead of downloading let's say "video.mp4", it was "notavideo.exe". It was still the same file though. This was to done to test if T-Mobile used some deep packet inspection or similar technology to detect videos inside the TCP packet. The result is that yes, T-Mobile does throttle you. if you have Binge On then you will be capped at about 1.5Mbps download speed for all videos, regardless of them counting towards your data cap or not. T-Mobile are also able to detect which type of file you are downloading without having to rely on file names or content-type in the HTTP header, although they deny deep packet inspection. The EFF also inspected the video files they downloaded and found that there was no changes done to them in terms of quality. The only thing Binge On did to the video files were capping the download rate at 1.5Mbps. How did John Legere react to this? He reacted by saying Google were just out for attention and to the EFF he responded "who the fuck are you EFF? Why are you stirring up so much trouble and who pays you?". What do you think? I was very skeptical from the start and now that all this has been discovered I think it is a terrible program. If this is not breaking net neutrality then it is dangerously close to doing it. It also throttles users behind their backs which is a really bad thing to do. I am very disappointed by T-Mobil and I am appalled by John's ignorance. Someone had a fantastic twitter conversation with T-Mobile support about it (full conversation here).

Recently a good friend of mine gave me a barely used Moto X! BUT I never thought getting a Verizon 2014 Moto X to work on T-Mobile would ever be difficult, normally with unlocked Verizon phones (all of them) it's as easy as throwing in a T-Mobile or AT&T sim if you want to switch. Not this phone though! Hell no! Had to factory reset it twice for it to actually stick with 4G LTE, it was cycling between no service to Edge and then occasionally 1 bar of 4G but only with Wi-Fi connected (weird) It's like I'm scared to turn the screen on in case I see the dreaded "E" next to the network strength indicator!!! I have never had something so nonsensical and completely baffling happen to a cellphone. But it seems to have sorted itself out (famous last words) for now at least! Well my Nexus 6 has a little brother now yay Has anyone ever had something weird like this occur?

Hello, I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 Active from AT&T that I have unlocked and put on the T-Mobile Network. When I try to connect to the OTA update server both on WiFi and off WiFi it tells me that there is no update. However, according to both AT&T and Samsung the Lollipop update has been released for my phone (SM-G870A). Is it because I am not on AT&T? Can I do the update using Kies?

According to an article posted just a couple of hours ago on the CNET Magazine's website, T-Mobile has already, or is soon poised, to take over Sprint's place as the third largest mobile provider. While the details are currently being contested by both sides, it appears that Sprint has been counting over 1.7 million users who have been inactive for more than six months. They claim that they've always followed this practice and that they don't discount users until a retail outlet partner updates them on a user's status. While not necessarily a tremendous ethics violation, it's still hard for me not to imagine a politician getting caught registering voters for the deceased and then stating, "I only used the votes of those deceased for which I did not directly receive a death certificate." So what do you guys think about both Sprint's marketing "strategy," and T-Mobile's worthiness in beating it out for the #3 spot? A couple months ago, T-Mobile started rolling over data on their Postpaid plans. Starting this Sunday, March 22, 2015, it'll also roll out to Simple Choice Prepaid users as well. They're even giving you an extra 10GB for you to start with. I'm not sure if this includes the very popular $30 plan that has 100 min, unlimited text, and 5GB LTE. If data rollover is also added to that plan, it's going to be an even more incredible deal. According to a press release published last night, Voda is going to return to the usa as an MVNO using T-Mobile’s network. It’s plan is to aim squarely at the enterprise market, to provide a solution specifically for multi-national clients. It’s planning to launch the service late next year (2015). Vodafone wants to supply wireless services to more than 400 multinational clients, and a further 500 Vodafone multinational customers based outside America, but with a “strong U.S. presence”. According to the press release Vodafone’s MNC proposition includes: an unrivaled international wireless footprint, with networks in 27 countries (including 16 Vodafone markets with 4G LTE networks) extending to more than 75 countries through partner market relationships proven total communications products and services for enterprise, from telecommunications expense management and security products to cloud services and Vodafone OneNet fixed-mobile converged products and services enabling employees to collaborate and communicate on any device on any network, anywhere ongoing expansion of the world’s most advanced IP-VPN global network, with 91 points of presence (PoPs) rising to 212 PoPs by the end of 2015 to span 67 countries and global leadership in M2M capabilities, with Vodafone SIMs now embedded in more than 18.6 million products across 23 countries From a T-Mobile point-of-view this could give the company a bigger foothold in the enterprise market. And area where, traditionally, T-Mobile hasn’t done so well. At least not compared to the likes of Verizon which has a huge corporate customer base. "T-Mobile has launched their official TV streaming application on iOS offering a 30-day trial run of the service." Full Story: http://www.tgbuzz.com/2013/05/03/t-mobile-tv-app-now-on-ios/ What do you guys think of carriers offering TV services on their phones?

Does anyone know if it's at all possible to Jailbreak an iPhone 5 running iOS 7.1.x? My main objective is more to unlock the phone from the carrier that it's currently locked to. I've tried ringing the carrier (T-mobile/EE UK) and they refuse to unlock it because I didn't buy the phone directly through them. I originally got the phone brand new from someone on Amazon, who I can't contact to get them to unlock it. I've heard that if you Jailbreak it you can unlock it manually somehow. But I'm stuck at the part of Jailbreaking, there doesn't seem to be anyone who has proof that the iPhone 5 on iOS 7.1.x+ can be Jailbroken. I know the iPhone 4 can, but no one's even said a hint about the 5. Just wondering if anyone knows if it's possible at all, and if so, how? Cheers.

The Verge: I love America, and I want to buy T-Mobile Ok we've known for awhile that Sprint has been looking to buy T-mobile but i think this the first time i've seen Masayoshi Son come out and say what he has to say about it. Apparently after getting "rebuffed by Tom Wheeler earlier this year" Masayoshi thinks that he can get what he wants if he turns to the public instead. He wants to be able to put up a fight against the likes of Verizon and AT&T. He says that he knows that America's internet sucks and that he can help us BUT ONLY if he can buy T-Mobile. He wants to take "on the nation’s broadband providers with a world-beating wireless network fast enough to replace even a wired connection." The problems are obvious that: 1. wireless is nowhere near as good as wired atleast not yet 2. T-Mobile is doing pretty good on their own and i dont see how merging would create competition 3. Thanks to Google and small internet companies internet speeds are rising in parts on the US and spreading, if slowly Those are the three i can come up with right now atleast, I'm sure you guys can come up with more. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think he should be able to buy T-Mobile or do you think this is a load of BS.

What carrier do you use, why do you like them, what are the prices like, what is customer service like, and what carrier has truly unlimited data? I understand that certain carriers have a 2gb or 4gb download cap per phone, but I am also wandering if "unlimited data" actually allows for uncapped downloads and doesn't throttle speed. The reason I am asking this is my parents want to switch carriers because they would have to pay a $50 fee for an early upgrade to take advantage of a buy 1 get 1 free $200 HTC One offer that expires in 2 days when the normally scheduled upgrade is in 4 days, if that makes any sense. Sprint is adamant about them paying the $50 per line that would be upgraded, and they are furious about it. So, is it logical to switch over this or should we just wait and chill or what, community suggestions are cool.

Hey guys, I live in Canada, Calgary, and I am nearing the time to get a phone (I'm 16). I'm still deciding on a phone (iPhone 6 or Moto X or Nexus 5) but that doesn't really matter now. I have limited knowledge on the topic of carriers and plans but I do know that the big three in Canada (Bell, Telus, Rogers) are basically crap in terms of everything but coverage. You hear all of this good stuff from T-Mobile like at CES and I've always wondered, why doesn't T-Mobile come to Canada and why do us Canadians have such s**tty phone plans? Wind has some decent plans but they lack coverage from what I've heard. Somebody please inform me on this topic. I also know from Linus that the population density isn't the greatest here but that should not reason to high priced stuff.
