My MSI Laptop (MSI Summit E13 Flip Evo A11MT-223) has been shutting off without warning, the battery is near full too. Not even a BSOD, just completely dies on me. To turn it back on, I have to plug it in, close it, open it and press the power button. This has happened 4 times within the last few hours and I don't understand why. It has only happened when I have it unplugged. I highly doubt it is overheating because I have the fans set to balanced mode, and it shut off without the laptop feeling hot at all or the fans even spinning. In windows 10 event viewer it says I have 4 critical events that happened in the last hour (it has crashed 4 times) Event ID 41, saying it has rebooted wihout cleanly shutting down first. Any ideas on what's wrong?? I updated windows and other drivers. Do I need to clean fans or something? I've had it for about a year and a half with on and off use.

Hello dear forum users! Please help me! I have a problem with my PC randomly shutting off during gaming. It happens exactly like when there is a power outage, except the RGB lights on my RAM stay on. After shutting off, the pc seems to try to re-launch itself after like 2-3 seconds, but it fails and only the ram lights stay on. If I click with the mouse or push the power button (pushing once, not holding, If I hold the ram lights shut off too) nothing happens. Waiting for a few minutes will do nothing. After this happens the only way I can get the PC to start up again is if I unplug the whole thing from the wall, push the power button to release any power left inside, wait for like 20 seconds and turn it back on. Then it turns on sort of like normal, it turns on once, shuts off, then turns on fully after 4-6 seconds (it does like a cycle) and then it is fully functional once again. This shut-off (as far as I observed) only happens when I am gaming on demanding games, and after at least 2-3 hours of gaming, and randomly. Sometimes it won't happen for days, sometimes it happens twice a day etc. Context: Here are the specs: CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8700K CPU @ 3.70GHz (running at 4,7 Ghz oc-d, never had problems with that) GPU: asus rog strix OC 2070 super Ram: G skill tridentZ rgb 3200mhz 4x8gb mobo: Asus ROG STRIX Z390-F GAMING PSU: Be quiet! 750W Straight Power 11 +! Might be important: I have recently installed another set of the G-skill ram (2x8gb more, it is exactly the same model timing and everything, though it is about 4 years newer in terms of production) Troubleshooting I've tried already: I thought that the addition of the new ram sticks may have just jumped over my 750W PSU's capabilities, so I lowered maximum CPU usage to 85% in windows power plan, and put nvidia control panel's power setting to optimal power savings instead of prefer max performance. (I have no idea if these do anything to really help me tho, I'm kind of a noob.) If you have any suggestions or know what is going on, please tell me. Thanks all.

Over the past couple months my pc has been shutting off randomly with no warning, this has started happening since I got my 3050. At first everything was fine, no overheating or issues at all but then my pc started shutting off. I bought a new psu thinking it would fix the issue and it did for a couple weeks, then I googled everything I could do I had narrowed down my issue to the kernel power error 41 (63). After more googling I found a couple websites talking about it being software issues which was plausible as running dskskn and sfc revealed there were some corrupted files, they were fixed and the issue stopped, a couple weeks later it happens again. I reseated my ram and gpu, the pc turned off the next day. I think there may be something wrong with my plug or another piece of hardware. If anyone has any ideas of what can help then please come and help.

So I recently built a new pc and it works fine except it won't go into sleep mode or shut off. The only way I can turn it off is with the power button. I installed amd chipset drivers, I reseated my dimms, I checked my psu cables and did a clean reinstall of windows. I also tried a clean boot but it still doesn't shut off or sleep with all startup programs disabled. Anybody have any idea what could be causing this issue? My PC is build is complete so now I have the daunting task of installing windows, updating drivers, etc. The PC turns on with no issue, launches into BIOS. I've installed windows 10, and updated windows. And no matter what I do the PC doesn't *actually* turn off. When I shut down within windows, the screen will go black but the tower fans and RGB will stay on. At first I thought it was them remaining off. But I think its the whole PC because I then can't turn back on the PC by simply pressing the power button, that doesn't do anything. I need to hold down the power button until the entire tower shuts off (this fully turns it off, fans, RGB, all off). Then I can press the power button and it all comes on normally. I have of course scoured the intered and forums looking for ways to fix it. I have: - Disabled fast boot - Disabled Hibernate - Reinstalled windows - Troubleshooted *power* options within windows - Reset my BIOS to default - Unplugged each component and replugged it back in - Done a few command prompts such as "powercfg.exe /h off" - Launched windows in safe mode I am at a loss as to what I could try next. Any ideas? This is driving me nuts My build is: Phantex Mid Tower Eclipsw [Corsair iCUE H150i Elite Capellix Liquid CPU Cooler Corsair 750w power supply Gigabyte B550 Aorus Pro Motherboard Nvidia RTX 3070 Gaming AMD Ryzen 5 5600x Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500GB SSD Corsair Dominator Platinum 64GB 4x16GB 3333MHz 16CL

I ruled out thermal issues through looking at the temperatures through BIOS and other monitors and the fan is still spinning consistently. I took apart the PC in an attempt to try and fix the issue, because I had the idea that the motherboard was causing an electrical short with the plate on the back of the case. I have never overclocked any part of my system. And for a time it seemed as if my issue was solved by removing the back plate entirely from the computer case. Until these last few days when the computer has, once again, begun to shut itself down. Without being under load a significant load. There are no cable changes occurring, no vibrations occurring in the surrounding space, and things seem to be going fine, until the computer shuts itself down. In an effort to try and cause a BSOD to tell some kind of information and rule out certain possibilities, I disabled the automatic restart that occurs, but the shutoffs are still occurring without displaying any sort of information. There did not seem to be anything wrong with the way the motherboard was mounted on the case, and now that there is no back plate on the case where the USBs are plugged in, there should not be a short there. Another little tidbit of information that might lead to the conclusion of a power distribution failure is that VERY RARELY (twice in the last month) when I try and run certain games, the monitors will go black, as if they were no longer connected to the computer, and then they would come back on. Only once did the monitors not come back on, but while that was happening, the sound was still playing through my headphones. I was monitoring the temperatures in the bios when shutdowns were occurring, for the CPU and the GPU (The computer once or twice shut off while I was staring at the temperatures in the bios). I recently got into checking the reliability monitor tool, but it doesn't display any helpful information. When I look in the event viewer it doesn't have any recent hardware events at the shut off time, only the critical message when I reboot the pc saying that the shutoff that occurred at a given time was unexpected. Nothing is out of the ordinary there. If at all possible I would like to save doing a reinstall of windows as a last resort. The CPU, MB, and RAM were all new, but the case I have is not a new case, it is the same case that I have had for the past decade, so one idea is that the new MB is occasionally making contact with the case and that is causing the short. NOT SURE ABOUT THAT ONE. I did not reinstall the OS, the HDD and SSD are still the same as before. This particular type of issue is exclusive to since I upgraded the MB, Processor, ram. If it were a software issue causing my crashes, wouldnt that cause a BSOD? I believe that either there is still a short somewhere, or there has been irreparable damage done to the power supply (be it because of the shorting or because of another type of failure within that part. What seems to be the cause of the problem and how do you recommend I approach solving it?

I just built my first PC, and everything has been humming along absolutely smoothly except for one thing. When I touched the side of my metal case, I heard some static and all of a sudden all of the fans had shut off and the PC shut down. Is this something to do with cable management? As a first timer, it is nothing to be proud of, although I do plan on doing a more thorough job of it soon. Have any of you experienced similar issues? How did you fix it? Everything is brand new, and I have the PC on top of a flat piece of wood in my room, connected to the wall with a power adapter for 6 outlets (I need 3, and the wall only provides 2), and this may also be a source of the issue. Or could the carpet in my room be a source of excess static electricity? Thanks

Hi guys. Whenever I play Assetto Corsa, my PC shuts off after about 2 minutes. My specs are a R5 1600, HD 7970 Ghz, Corsair TX650M Gold Asus Prime B350 plus I can't figure out any reason why it would do that. Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi, I stress tested the CPU overnight with no problems the first time. I then overclocked my memory and tested it with memstest86+ with no errors. I ran my prime95 stress test again after the memory overclock and it shut down the computer at some point. I have another one running now where I increased the ram's voltage by a little bit to see if that fixes it, but in the mean time... do you guys have an idea of what to do next? I had this issue before the last time I overclocked and I can't remember for the life of me what fixed it. I think more voltage to the CPU even though it's the change in the memory settings that caused the failure. Anyways, I logged my hwinfo data and have a spreadsheet, so if you want to look it over and see if you can find a clue I didn't, be my guest: ASRock z390 taichi, i7 9700k, asus strix gtx 1080 oc gaming edition, 3200mhz Corsair vengeance pro RGB, 500gb samsung 970 evo, etc. 5.1ghz overclock on CPU, 1.28 vcore, cache 4.6ghz, level 2 LLC, ram: 3600mhz 1.38v 18 19 19 39. Hi people. My PC has been shutting off after gaming for a while with no warning. Everytime this happens I have to turn the PSU off and then on again, otherwise the PC won't turn back on. Specs: R5 1600, Corsair TX650M, HD 7970 Ghz, ASUS Prime B350 Plus I checked my Windows log and it says (for all the times it has shut off ever) Source: Kernel Power Id: 41 Level: Critical Task category: 63 Please someone help me. I have had this problem with this PC ever since I built it just over a year ago. I tried everything I could. I replaced my VS650 with a TX650M and I replaced my old GTX 580 (because it died) with a 7970 Ghz edition. ANY advice or information you have is very much appreciated. This all started about a week ago i think a couple days after i got my USB expansion card (ROSEWILL RC-508) i don't know if that has anything to do with my issue but that works fine but my computer doesn't turn off, windows shuts down but my computer doesn't turn off like the power stays on and sometimes even my fans ramp up. I think windows restarts rather than shuts down because an application that usually only comes on with my computer when i restarted it now comes on when i "shut down" my computer. basically i press the windows shut down button then my computer stays on so i flick the PSU switch off then when I turn the switch on again the computer comes right back on no matter how long its been off and if its on and i hold the power button it shuts down windows but the computer stays on and if I press the power button again then windows starts up again. I've tried so many things to fix this i took the expansion card out and restarted my computer, updated the bios (when i tried to update my bios with m-flash the system went to restart to boot into m-flash but turned off and didn't come back on so i turn off the PSU switch and turned it back on and then it booted into m-flash), cleared the cmos, took out my ram and put it back in. I don't know what to do and this is killing me someone please help me Specs: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Hf1xLxl5gJorSKg9p7lQxPHeUEqnNMwJ5y-vjkjY0fs/edit?usp=sharing and yes my system is originally from ibuypower but with some things upgraded and added

Ive tried removing my graphics card and nothing and tried firing it up with no ram and nothing. Please help! I have no idea what to do My build is a msi x470 gaming pro Ryzen 2200g 3.2gzh Asus Gtx 1050ti Phoenix Corsair cx500w I cant remember the brand of ram but 8gs at 2800mhz.

So I recently upgraded to Ryzen from FX. I had to purchase a new motherboard, new ram, and the CPU. Did not realize I had to re-install windows so it took a long time to diagnose the issue (including numerous restarts and flipping of the power supply switch). I have had to replace my previous power supply twice before through warranty. So when I started having start up issues and heard coil whine, I assumed it was the power supply. Finally bought a decent gold rated Seasonic power supply, hooked it up, but I still have both the coil whine and the start up issues. Obviously, the coil whine must be the graphics card (oh well with that though since its older and I am not buying a new one anytime soon). The main issue is the fact that when I first go to turn on my PC, it boots, but after the audible beep noise and the bios screen goes away, the PC shuts down. If I press the button again right after this, the PC boots and then load Windows fine. So I am wondering, is this a hard drive malfunction or motherboard issue? So, I'll try to make this short and simple, as I don't want to ramble (PS, not happening) So, about last year (like, really close to exaclty last year), my brother got a new PC for Christmas, as an old Optiplex with an old graphics card stuck in is not very good for gaming I was a CybertronPC Rhodium 950 X8 Gaming PC, a prebuilt, however from the reviews (thought now that I read some of them I see that others are having issues..), the systems that they made seemed to be a decent choice, so that was the computer he got. It ran very well when he first received it, as it could play games with WAY higher framerates than the old PC, and overall I thought that it was a decent PC... until a few months ago... Soon, about a few months ago, his computer was acting slower. He has Malwarebytes premium and Windows Defender running a lot, with Malwarebytes running when the PC is not in use, so I doubted that it was a virus or something, but that is not the end of the problems. Soon it started randomly restarting. Sometimes it might have been something ordinary like a windows update, but a lot of those times, it was just completely out of the blue. No blue screens, no error messages most of the time. He did say that a few times it said something about restarting to prevent overheating or something, but the last time he has seen that, he says was a few months ago. We recently dusted out the PC since then, and luckily we have not gotten that in a while. Later, recently, his computer would start restarting again. It was dusted again not too long ago, however this time is different. Whenever he turns on the computer after it reboots or shuts off, it is incredibly laggy, like with nothing opening. I am not really sure how many times this has happened, however last night was the worst, as cortana was frozen open, covering the option to restart the computer, task manager opened, being very laggy, and refused to close until it stopped responding, and the fans were overall very loud, like when they are under load. I have heard that turning on the computer can be very CPU intensive, and overall taxing to all of the parts, however his computer has been fine for a little while. Their was also this awful screechy sound that he told me about, and when he uplugged the computer, it stopped, but I have heard that bad PSU's can do that. He also said that it mainly would restart during more graphically better games, ones that would make his fans really go. Games like Garry's Mod... not so much, but games like Arma 3 (high settings with mods). All of this information leads me to believe that this is PSU issue, as it usually happens during the games that put his PC under more load, and not on barely any other occasions. Here are his PC specs: CPU: AMD FX-8300 GPU: ZOTAC GTX 1050 RAM: 16 Gigabytes Hard drive: 1000 Gigabyte SATA III Cooling: N/A (I have no clue, sorry) Power Supply: sl-f500 (500 watt) Motherboard: ASUS M5A78L‑M PLUS SMBIOS version: 2.5 BIOS mode: Legacy Annnnnd.. finnallyyyyyy! OS: Windows 10 Home 64 bit To wrap it up: He did not overclock anything He did not ever even try to do anything like update BIOS We both think that it is probably a power supply issue What do you guys think? I honestly don't really know if it is a power supply issue, but whether or not it is anything, I think that it is kind of annoying that it has been less than a year old and it is already having issues. Have a nice day, and thanks for your time!

When I play certain games, my computer will just randomly shut off after like half an hour. I don't think it's overheating, because I have SpeedFan open in another monitor while it happens, and my temps are something like 55C CPU and 45C GPU. Recently, I went into Event Viewer, and the error message I get when this happens is Kernel-Power Event ID 41, Task Category 63. When it shuts down, the screen usually cuts out first, then the audio turns into a really rapid brbrbrbbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbbrbrbrbrbrbrbbrbrbrbrbrb noise. The fans all still spin, except my GPU fans. The LED on my case stays on as well. When this happens, I have to use the switch on the back of my PSU to turn it off all the way. It happens in Witcher 2, Rocket League, Red Faction: Guerrilla, and a few others I can't remember right now, but does not happen in Skyrim, Fallout 4, or anything else I play. Hey guys, I was hoping someone here could help me. I recently bought a new PSU and GPU. Insignia 520w and a Zotac gtx 760 as i was on a budget. I had originally bought it for my HP pavilion which was a gift 2 or 3 years ago, but because HP has more recently decided to go the way of "if you want to upgrade, buy a new computer" my GPU was not compatable with my bios and Hp would not release an update for it. So instead, I decided to put my new parts in a decently upgradable 4 or 5 year old Acer Predator. The RAM was previously updated and the CPU was "okay" so I said why not. It's been 2 weeks and it has ran perfectly until last night. Lastnight, the computer randomly loked up, the sound went from my headset, and my mouse and keyboard lights were off and i had to manually shut down. I had blamed Skype ads for this because of friends who had the same porblem not too long ago.\ But today I came home from work, turned on my computer, and within an hout it completey shut off. No warnings, no errors, just shut off. Then 10 seconds later the computer started cycling on and off, shutting off before it could post or load anything, so I unplugged it and waited a few minutes. 5 minutes later I plug it in, and the fans immidiately cycled on and off(not sure which fan, but i believe it wwas either the PSU or CPU fan from the direction of the noise. Pressing the power button did nothing, so I unplugged again to minimize any damage. I know it's tedious, but could someone give me a step by step guide on how to test and fix myproblem? I'm not very knoledgable aboutcomputer hardware, the most I know how to do it swap out some parts and put everything together. I absolutely refuse to take it to a shop because the only computer stores, probably because they are comissioned, are very well known for upselling and diagnosing fake problems. Short version: 1. Installed new GPU and PSU 2 weeks ago 2. Problems last night with computer completely freezing 3. After an hour of use today computer shuts down, power cycles on and off 4. Unplugged, wait 5 minutes, plug back in and no power, but fans cycling on and off 5. Cry and ask for help. Any help you guys could give me is greatly appreciated. edit; In case you wanted to know, here are all the specs I couldgather at this point with no power Windows 7 64bit Intel Core i5- Can't remember the version asit'sold, but 3 didgets @3.0 or 3.1ghz Zotac gtx 760 insignia 520w psu 8GB ram 2 500mb HDs I would not be able to tell you my motherboard or bios at this time

It happend for the third time today, I am just doing my usual gaming/internet surfing when it just shuts off, no errors, no bluescreen, just powers off, and then it trys to turn on, the fans and lights will come on for literally 1 or 2 seconds and it will turn off again, eventually it "gives up" and stays off. This time, to get it to turn back on, i had to unplug and replug the 6pin PCIE (both of them) from my GTX 660 Ti, unplug my motherboard power connector, unplug and replug in my ram, and it evenautally turns back on and its all back to normal. Any idea what this is? Power supply HX 850 i5 3570k 8gb 1600MHz ram MIS GTX 660 Ti (PE/OC)
