Hi Everyone, Sounds like a weird and niche thing, but I have MANY desktop shortcuts pointing to one hard drive, I've moved those files the shortcut points to, to another drive. Does anyone know of a program that does some kind of find and replace for desktop shortcuts, so I don't have to manually change each one. So where it says "Where the shortcut points to E:\Documents, etc... change it to F:\Documents, etc. It's a like for like file structure to make it easier. I hope that makes sense?

Does anyone know if I can get MSI ab to boot on startup for non admin users on my pc? My brother uses the pc to play on his account and he's a standard user. Don't want him running random exe files so UAC has to stay on I've tried the elevated shortcut UAC bypass method but it only allows me to use it on my admin account. It won't run on a standard user acc I've got an undervolt profile for my 3070 and I want it to be running for all users Is there a specific setting I need to set in the scheduled task for it run for any user, regardless if they're admin or standard? I put the elevated shortcut in the startup folder for all users and it only opens on startup for admin accounts

I have an external keyboard which does not have any shortcut key to change the screen brightness. On my built-in keyboard, the mapping is Fn+F5/F6, but I barely ever use my built-in keyboard. The external keyboard does have Fn key, and doesn't do anything when pressing this combination. I want to create a custom combo to use on the external keyboard, like fn+f5/f6 or maybe fn+uparrow/downarrow. Any help/article on how I can do this appreciated!

Hi everybody I'm looking to automate a smart home action on my mac, using an homekit compatible power plug + the shortcuts app in Monterey (or Automator if it's better, idk). The idea would be that whenever the Macbook is awake, the trigger activates the smart plug. When the Mac goes to sleep or is turned off, the smart plug shuts off, cutting power. [The smart plug is used with a universal 12V power adapter to power a fan inside the cabinet that ensures that part of the computer setup is cooled). I've looked left right and center into the new Shortcuts app and I honestly couldn't find any way to use the Mac's "awake status" as a trigger for a shortcut. It's simply not possible to do this or I missed something? Is it something that can be done with Automator perhaps? Note: the trigger should be automatic. Right now i simply flick a physical switch near the monitor to start the fan, so having a software button on the mac, use siri or something not automatic would be pointless...if i've got to turn it on myself, i might as well stick with the current setup. Thanks everybody for the help!

Hi, I don't know how many people will be able to help me with this, as I'm not sure many people use chromiumOS, but I currently have ChromiumOS downloaded on my old windows laptop. I would like to access developer mode in order to download Linux and Android apps, but, unfortunately, since my computer is older, it has a physical power button (instead of a key on the keyboard), and it's the type that can override the OS and put the laptop into hibernation. So, when I go to press escape+refresh+power, it just goes into power off. When I do escape + refresh + pressing a function that corresponds to where the power button on a chromebook would be, I get nothing. I know there is a way to change keyboard shortcuts, but I don't see any way to change any shortcuts for dev mode. Can anybody help? Thanks to anyone and everyone who can help.

So I need to be able to press a shortcut and a cmd line should be executed But the line is: C:\Program Files (x86)\Bluetooth Command Line Tools\bin>btcom -n "WH-1000XM3" -c -s110b and any other answers are able to run only batch files or someting with /k and after that "my comments" but nothing works So I need somehow to implement -n "WH-1000XM3" -c -s110b at the end and I have no idea of windows syntax but the path has ...\bin>btcom at the end and no \ so that can be a problem Anyway the folder bin has something in it but I cant use it to include in the path enter image description here The command line works when using the "integrated" cmd box but it is used to type the commands and I would like a shortcut on my desktop enter image description here Any kind of help is welcome Thanks

Hi, I have set a shortcut to run any python file in VS Code. The shortcut is " ` " ("oem_3") key. However, I need this key while using other languages -- LaTeX for example. Thus, I need to configure this shourtcut such that it is executed only when the file is a .py file. I found out that one can configure shortcuts this way by using a "when" clause using keybindings.json file. For example this shortcut "ctrl+s" will only be executed when the file is a .tex file and the LaTeX extension is enabled. I want to do a similar thing for the following python extension by adding a "when" clause to the following shortcut But I don't understand how this syntax works. Can anyone guide me? Thanks.

Hi all, I want to write symbols with tilde (~) on their head. The general command for this is \tilde(a) Now I can define a shortcut if I am using it multiple times. The standard way to do it is to include a line \renewcommand{\t}[1]{\tilde{#1}} in the preamble. Then \t{a} will give me the same result. However I don't want to use the curly braces. What I want is that \ta give the same result as \renewcommand{\t}[1]{\tilde{#1}} I can do renewcommand/newcommand for individual alphabets but was wondering whether I could write a single command that does the same. Does anyone know how to do it? Thanks

I am working on an idea and have some questions for you guys. I hope this discussion is welcome. How many keyboard shortcuts do you remember when using a creative software (i.e. photoshop, gimp, illustrator, ableton, after effects, etc.)? How long does it take you to remember a new shortcut? Would you use more shortcuts if they were more obvious? Thanks for any responses!

I have written a few simple cmd commands on a regular notepad and saved it as a batch file (example.bat), of which I have created a shortcut (example.lnk). I have created a shortcut because that lets me set the layout of how the window opens, window size, window position etc If I open the shortcut it opens the window how and where I want, but if I open the batch file then it opens in its default size and position set by system Now I want to write another batch file to open all my batch shortcuts (example.lnk) one after the other, so they are placed right where I want on the desktop and sized correctly for e.g @echooff :start "C:\test\example.lnk" this doesnt open it what should i do ?

Hi everyone, we use owncloud in our company and I installed Keypass and shared the .exe file with everyone so all our workes use the same .exe. The problem is that in the same folder where the .exe file is located you will find the configuration files that manage accessibility and user rights for the password database. I don't want that certain users have access to this files so they cannot play around or copy our database. So what I wanted to do is the following: Create folder1 where the programme + configuration files + password database is stored and restrict viewing rights for certain users. Create a new folder (folder2) around folder1 where a shortcut to the exe is stored and have every user access this folder. Since some users have different PCs the owncloud folder will not be in the same directory on every PC which is a problem because then the shortcut won't work anymore. Is there a way to create a shortcut that is relative and ignores the everything that comes before /folder2 an just have it linked to folder1 (which is located in folder2)? It should look something like this: .../users/..../owncloud/folder2 shortcut for keypass.exe (ignores everything before /folder2) folder1 (visibility restricted for some of my coworkers) keypass.exe config-files database ... Thank you in advance!

I wanted to be able to create a macro shortcut to put my Windows 10 computer to sleep when a function key is pressed on my Logitech Keyboard. I was looking through the Logitech software for the keyboard and there didn't seem to be a shortcut for sleep, so I created a shortcut on my desktop, which works when run. But when I was trying to bind the key on the keyboard to the shortcut it didn't run. Does anyone have a solution?

Until recently I could use the pause/unpause/next track etc. buttons on my keyboard to pause/unpause etc. in spotify while I was using chrome. For some reason now Chrome takes priority even if I'm not browsing a tab with video/sound. I have to click the blue circled part to manually prioritize spotify but when I click on anything on chrome chrome takes priority again. Is there a way to make spotify the top choice until I say otherwise or at least disable this feautre for chrome?

This may have a simple solution, however a search google and reddit provided no answers. I probably just don't know enough about it. I'm trying to program a keyboard with shortcuts that are not likely interfere with the defaults of other programs. Basically, I'm running a soundboard software in the background while gaming, editing, and browsing the internet. Does anyone know of a good comprehensive list of shortcuts used by popularly ran programs and windows 10, or a list of created shortcuts they've used in the past? Appreciation comes in advance.

I want the True Geeks version of a super list with all windows keys and codes!!!!! I want the big boy list of codes that involve isolating and or resetting hardware on the motherboard to being able to shortcut my way out of an issue when my display goes dead on my laptop for absolutely no reason while dgpu is engaged with no way to switch to the onboard igpu and your fingers are allergic to dismantling anything on the motherboard. Im tired of seeing the same old lists out there for your more normal users. So I hear that: Win+cntrl+shift+B can reset Gpu. Has it worked for anyone else and tell me more like these!

Hello all, I am reaching out for some help, regarding hotkey assigning with my new (to me) blue tooth key board. I recently had a head injury and during this recovery, my eyes are having trouble with looking at distance, so i am forced to re-train my brain to look at distances. anywho, the new bluetooth keyboard is a used Logitech K760, solar powered board. And I'm really liking it a lot. However, because it is really meant for a Mac, there are a couple buttons that don't do their intended function, Ie. the task view and brightness controls (F4, and F6/F7). I looked into getting a hotkey program, but I'm lacking the skill and time to really understand it. Other than those few keys, all of windows hotkeys and etc work just fine. I can easily just ignore the button controls and use the mouse to do everything, but i'd like to know if i can map the three keys to do their function properly. If not, that's okay. Or if there is an easy way i can get it to work well, i can do that with free time i have. However as of now, i cant really look long at my screen. also, because the task view is controlled by the touchpad gesture, is there a way I can map that gesture to the key board? My current update of Win 10 doesn't have the ability to change the gesture to the key. I do have gesture editing, but i can't seem to get it working to do the task I want (task view). I can get something similar to the taskview by useing Win+tab, but i'd like to have that action done by the F4 button on the keyboard. thank you very much! Also, I dont have any code to attach here. sorry

looking for ideas on how to run a command or to write a script program that can open the "add a device" menu popup in the windows 10 Settings app. NOTE: i'm not looking for the redundant "add a device" context menu function that W10 implemented from the factory, it does the same as viewing the devices... which seems useless. screenshot for context. any ideas or inspiration is welcomed.

Hello, I don't know wether I should be posting this here or in the Software thread, but I guess it makes more sense here. I've recently got a new SSD for my computer, since it was taking sometimes up to 5 minutes to boot and then another 5 to read everything on start-up. Problem is, once I booted, I soon realised that the process from moving to a HDD to a SSD wasn't that simple. I created a new user, tried to make it as close to the old one as possible, as I didn't know wether you could "import" users into the SSD without taking up all the ssd's space (for example having all my apps and prgrams on my desktop as I used to, without having to put them on the SSD). After this I tried to run Ableton Live (a music production program) and it wouldnt let me, and I figured it would be because of all the directory issues that could be happening. So, I have 2 questions: 1- Is there anyway of "importing" users to the SSD, assuring the fastest reading speed throughout Windows, but maintaining all my files on the HDD? 2- If not, how can I use apps that were once installed on the HDD (and I suppose they still are) without having to reinstall them on the SSD? I wondered if I could just create a shortcut on my desktop that would lead me into the installed program, but it shows me "can't run because mfc120u.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program could fix this problem" Thank you!

I was wondering if there is a way to add a keyboard shortcut to change the volume of a specific program. Like turn down spotify without turning down the master volume or something along those lines. Thanks in advance
