I recently installed a Ryzen 9 5900X and my 4070 and I've had this problem of apps (even BIOS) launching in the wrong resolutions and becoming blurry, especially noticed with Steel Series GG and Valorant. I attached a video of what Steel Series is doing. Valorant however if launched in full screen mode, applies 3840x2160 or something along those lines. I've tried everything to fix this and nothing is helping... PLEASE HELP!! 2024-02-28 01-36-22.mkv

I have in no game a option for 4k...I have a 4k screen and 4k turned on in windows! When I set in the game the window mode to window it looks way more crisp - like 4k? That appears in all games like Horizon Zero Dawn but also in Spiderman and Stray for example. It gets even weirder: When I stream my pc to my Xbox with moonlight and sunshine I get 4K... So why is this happening? Thanks for your help!

Greetings I'm in a bit of a funk trying to get Hotkey Resolution Changer (HRC) (www.funk.eu) to start when Windows boots. I've been at this for a week and have tried the following: 1. Place HRC.exe in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp 1a. Set HRC.exe to run as administrator 1b. Place HRC.exe in some other directory and use a shortcut (also running as administrator) 2. Place HRC.exe in C:\Users\myUserName\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup 2a. Set to run as administrator 2b. Use a shortcut (also running as administrator) 3. Add HRC.exe to the task scheduler running with full permissions. It never starts. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Thank you for your time.

I made an account here, hopefully you can help me more than reddit did. (Card / PC is able to hit the refresh rates of both on almost every single scenario, so don't worry about that) What do you prefer? -Game Rendered at 4K but later downscaled to a 1080p Screen at 75hz -Game Rendered at 4K but later downscaled to a 1440p Screen at 60hz Basically comes down to the whole "Resolution vs Framerate" debate. 144 hz sadly it is not an option, I do not have a 144 hz screen, these are separate monitors, of which run at the speeds / hz mentioned before.

Hi, I'm seeking further knowledge with regards to screen resolutions particularly the so-called NATIVE resolution. I have a GTX 750ti graphics card which requires me to use DVI or a mini-HDMI cable (NO VGA OUTPUT). The monitor I'm using is Samsung SyncMaster SA100 1366 x 768 HD with VGA capability ==> this made me use an adapter, a VGA->DVI adapter for my monitor & vcard to work together. Now, upon checking my NATIVE RESOLUTION, I found out that I only have 1024 x 768 (as seen in the picture). Undeniably, on my part, when I set it to the native one I felt better looking at the display of my monitor as seen in the picture 1024.jpg (the 2nd pic). The 3rd picture (1366.jpg) is a reference to compare both displays. Pls enlighten me, is this normal for me to have such low NATIVE resolution? Also, I want to know WHAT WOULD BE THE PERFECT ASPECT RATIO when I play games specifically dota 2. 4:3 16:9 or 16:10 with my current potato setup. Thank you so much in advance, I'll be waiting for your generous response.

I have a dual display config, but my gfx card has only dvi, hdmi and dp, so I have to connect my older monitor through an adapter. It has 1280x1024 resolution, but every time I do system reset (shutdown works just fine), it drops to 1024x768. However, it can be fixed by unplugging and replugging the adapter in and out. I'm a little worried about whether these actions can damage hdmi port on my gfx card or not. Can this issue be resolved on software side?

Hello! The UEFI menu resolution of my motherboard seems to be 1920x1080, or lower. I see no option to change that to 3840x2160, so the menu is looking a bit blurry. My build is: •Motherboard: Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master (rev. 1.0) - BIOS version F11. •Monitor: ViewSonic VP2768-4K (3849x2160p) - Connected through DisplayPort. •Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (4GB). Question: Is there a way to make the UEFI (BIOS) menu hi-DPI?

I never thought to do this until the other day when I was having scaling issues with RPG Maker and it dawned on me that I could just use my computer like this all the time. It's really nice: I don't have the best eyes so I usually perfer things to be a bit larger. The screen only being 13", I tend to scale everything up anyway but still use the 2k res But now it's just perfect running at 1080p. This also works for the light gaming that I do on this. I mostly play minecraft on here because I have a steam deck for the rest of my games, and it's been hit or miss but now it's fantastic. The screen is super clean because it's glossy and from what I know, since there are more pixels, 1080p looks better on a screen meant for a much higher res. than it would on one that could only go up to 1080p. Maybe not? Either way, I am loving this experience and I thought I would share. Has anyone else down this? I think it also saves on battery. -Qphr

I could not find information about it. My parent's PC use that one and I wanted to give them my 1440p monitor, all they do is Youtube, Facebook, etc Can that CPU handle that resolution or should I upgrade it to something like a Ryzen 6 with on-board graphics?
-
I notice opinions on this topics change over time. 10 years ago, many would've said 1080p is perfectly fine for 25" and there's barely a difference between 1440p and 4K on a monitor. (Though we will eventually hit the point where where a resolution increasing further won't be noticeable without monitors getting uncomfortably larger. 8K might be that point). Assuming a viewing distance of an arm's length (2-2.5 feet). Thoughts?

Hi there, so I am attempting to run a temporary gaming setup with a Razer Blade laptop I am borrowing from a friend and a BenQ XL2720 monitor. The video output from the laptop is an HDMI port and when using this port to plug a high speed HDMI into the monitor in Nvidia Control Panel under Ultra HD, HD, SD 1080p, 1920 x 1080 (native) is available at 60Hz however under PC 1920 x 1080 is not an option, only lower resolutions are available, however it recognises their ability to at least run at 120Hz. I would like some assistance in determining the cause of the issue here, my initial thoughts is that it could be that the XL2720 can only run 1920x1080 at 144Hz via display port, however this would not be a solution as the only output on the laptop is HDMI and all adapters I have been able to find run from display port to HDMI and are not bi-directional What I have tried so far: Tried a higher speed HDMI cable listed as being able to run 1920x1080 at 144Hz Updated Nvidia Graphics Drivers Updated BenQ monitor drivers Tried using an HDMI to DVI convertor I would appreciate any advice anyone may have, apologies if the information could have been presented more concisely

Hello everyone, I am dealing with a rather annoying problem. To cut it short and sweet, I currently have a 6800 XT paired with a 1440p monitor. I have made a custom resolution so I can stream to my s22 ultra(using the full phone screen) via steam link. My issue I am having is that, when I hop back on my PC after I am done streaming, I have to switch the resolution.. Which isn't the annoying part, the annoying part is by simply switching the resolution doesn't actually change the active resolution. I have to go into the display adapter properties(at the bottom of the first screenshot) and set the resolution there. Anyone have any idea if it is possible that I can NOT dig all the way into display adapter properties to do this? Is this only a AMD thing? I've had Nvidia for the last 10 years, but I optd to go AMD this round. Any help? Thanks.

I have the RX 6700 XT paired with a 24" 1080p, 144Hz Freesync Premium monitor (TN panel, SDR) that I purchased in 2017. With my budget of $250 (and under) I'm wondering if I should upgrade to: 1) A newer 24" 1080p, 165Hz IPS or VA monitor 2) A 27" 1440p, 144Hz IPS or VA monitor 3) Forget upgrading altogether and keep Old Faithful Note that both (1) and (2) comes with Freesync Premium and HDR technologies. I should also mention that I have no problem maintaining 144 FPS while gaming. What advice would you give and why?

Pretty simple. I've been Googling about this for literally over a year (since Linus put out the video on these) and I want to know if I can run it. I am using the MSI GTX 970, which has one DisplayPort 1.2. I am looking at getting these monitors: LG 27QP88D-B2 The ones in this video: Here's the thing, they're on sale right now for like $590 for the set, and I wanna get them, but part of the reason is so I can daisy-chain them (which they explicitly support) My question is: they're 75hz and 1440p. Can my single DP 1.2 on my GTX 970 support that fully? I have seen online that it SHOULD support two 1440p monitors, but I'm unsure about the refresh rate. And yes, I know there's other ports on my GPU. I'm currently using both DVI ports and the HDMI port, but I'm sick of having SIX monitor cables on my desk and this huge, clunky stand.

Hi All, Within the last 2 weeks I've been plagued with a problem where on boot my monitor will display in 1280x720 at 100hz but the image is not stretched across my monitor it's displaying that image in the center of the monitor and only using those pixels (see picture). On some restarts it will display 1920x1080 (like it's supposed to) but it then only runs at 100hz and wont go any higher. I've been able to temporarily fix it by only running 1 monitor and unplugging and then plugging the monitor in coupled with restarting my computer. This issue is now permanent when I run this 1920x1080 monitor with my 4k monitor. This morning I also started having the issue where when running 2 monitors my 1920 monitor would display a black screen then come back on and then repeat whenever I moved a window on either monitor. System: CPU: AMD 5800x GPU: RTX 2080 with a minor overclock Monitors: BenQ XL2420Z (1920x1080 1ms 144hz) LG 27GN950-B (4k 1ms* 144hz)

I just bought a new PC with GT720 and i use my old SSD which has windows 10 in it. Everything is fine except the resolution, my monitor support up to 1360x768 but the only resolution available is 1024x768 and i cannot create custom resolution saying that. that resolution was not supported by my display which is absurd because it does and i have used 1360x768 with my Intel HD granted i have to create custom resolution but it worked. I have updated the GPU driver and Monitor driver but to no avail.. What should i do?

Sometimes it works for a bit and then when I click something on navigation bar it resets to native and 60Hz. I tried reinstalling drivers for both my monitor and my GPU. My setup CPU : i5-7600K GPU : GTX 1050ti Display : Zowie XL2411p

I have a 4:3 display (it is an onyx boox max lumi) and Pop os won't natively display anything besides 1080p 16:9 and 720p 16:9 on it from the pop os display settings. I tried following some instructions on how to fix it from command line and it didn't work. So I messed around with the NVIDIA display settings and was able to get a 4:3 Resolution to work 1440x1080. The thing is it won't save and show up in Pop os settings. Also, that is way lower than the actual resolution of my monitor which is 2200x1650. Anyone know how to fix my issue? Here's a link to what I did to fix the Nvidia settings (which I completely don't understand.) In total, these are the issues I'm still having. I can't fix Mirror mode (I want it to be like it is on windows where on the 4:3 display it looks normal and then on the 16:9 display it has black bars on the left and right and the mirrored 4:3 display is in the middle I can't get a Higher Resolution to work for example I tried 1920x1440 and it didn't work, even though I had the ViewportOut set as "1920x1440+0+240" I can't Change DPI I don't know how to get it to save the monitor settings I set in NVIDA (it resets upon reboot) The new Display settings don't show up in the Pop OS! settings menu (so, it doesn't give me a correct resolution to choose from and I can't change my DPI

I tried POP OS 20.04 LTS with a machine that has Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 (EVGA). During the demo before installation, resolution reaches 1024 x 768 despites using a wide screen, however after installing, it gets stuck at 640x480. I checked and they use the exact same drivers on demo and installed. I tried to install the Nvidia 390 drivers, and it doesnt improve the resolution. What can I do?

Hi, I have a problem, that is hard to explain, but here it goes. I have a work computer with ryzen 7-3700x and quadro p2200 gpu. since work from home i am using my monitor (4K) and one from work (1080p) for dual monitor setup (i need that a lot). I have noticed that CAD programs on my 4k display are performing quite bad even accounted for extra performance needed for 4k resolution image (the gpu memory gets full very fast). So sometimes I disconnect the 4k monitor to work just on 1080p if I need to do something bigger, and reconnect it when only working on documents. I have talked with CAD reseller and technical support and they said that the version I am using requires more gpu power than the older versions. But I noticed something odd today when I had a YouTube video playing and had the 4k monitor disconnected, all was fine. I had a task to write up some documents so enabled my 4k monitor for more convenient work and YouTube video started playing very weird. Turned on stats for nerd and i was loosing frames like crazy. 25% frames was lost in any resolution. No CAD application was running, computer was just turned on. Video was on second 1080p monitor. disconnected 4k monitor (with software, it is still pugged in gpu) and the video is fine, no lost frames in any resolution. GPU drivers are up to date. When using dual monitors doesn't matter on which display the video is showing.

I recently just switched to 1440p from 1080p. I was wondering if my mouse sensitivity and aiming will be affected. If it does, is there a way to find out how to raise my mouse sensitivity to match how it was for 1080p to now 1440p?
