I forgot my charger at home, so i went looking for alternative ways to charge my laptop. Lets get to the problem.. I got a bright idea: My phone can charge from USB-C cant laptops aswell? i quickly googled: HP Laptops can chargw from USB-C, i tried and it worked. But only when 100% powered off, After POST (After leaving the bios) it would stop charging. This problem is only with USB-C, But i havent tried with the standard AC as i forgot it at home. But then it stopped charging from USB-C after running out of battery after one charge. i began googling found it can blow capitors in the pc with low-wattage usb-c, But then i found HP says its fine: https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/tech-takes/3-different-ways-to-charge-laptop-without-charger TLDR: Is it bad to charge hp probook g7 with a low wattage USB-C (can i blow the capitors)? or is hp correct or did hp mean that i needed a power brick? https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/tech-takes/3-different-ways-to-charge-laptop-without-charger

So my office if giving me an option too upgrade from HP Probook powered by a i5 8250u, which i'm using for over a year now to a brand new HP Probook powered by a AMD Ryzen 5 2500U, The Intel Probook is 5th Gen and the AMD Probook is 6th Gen. The rest of the specs are pretty similar. I'm generally not having any issues with my intel laptop. It handles my daily work which is usually web apps, java, excel and outlook. I generally like the look of the AMD laptop better and also its brand new. My intel laptop looks busted with scratches, dents and a key missing. So even if is the same performance, I will make the switch. Wanted to know if I should move from Intel to AMD.

Hello! I need some help with my multi media infrastructure. At the moment i have a Qnap TS-251 with 3TB storage and 4GB RAM connected to my network. This NAS contains all of my TVshows and movies. Also connected to my network is an HP Probook 6550b laptop. This laptop is running Plex media server for my three TVs (One 4k and two full HD). I'm noticing that my laptop is not fast enough to encode more than two HD streams. If i stream more the movies start to buffer. I want to replace my latop but i'm not really sure with what. What does Plex need to encode fast? is it smart to just get a server instead of a NAS? Don't know if it makes any difference but i live in the Netherlands and my budget is around €500,-. -edit- I have an desktop pc with a 6600k processor, 16GB RAM, AMD R9 280. But i need this for work and gaming so i don't think it's smart to use this for Plex?

My HP Probook 450 G2 recently had a screen failure and I opted to re-purpose it as a computer for watching youtube on connected to my TV. I first wanted to reinstall windows but have been unable to get to the boot menu through either VGA or HDMI. However, windows will show up on the second display without issue. I've torn down the laptop completely, so it's just half the shell and the motherboard, with the main display disconnected, but it still thinks the display is there and I believe the boot menu and/or bios are appearing there instead of my secondary screen. Is there any known way to make the laptop realize that the primary screen is indeed disconnected? In the device manager I see a "Digital flat panel (1024x768 60hz)" along with the generic pnp monitor that is the second display, so windows sees it to but is smart enough to recognize both (on first boot it was mirroring, and I have since set it to display only on the second monitor).

I've had this laptop for 4 years and recently the screen has stopped working when the lid is opened. Usually it's vertical grey lines and I have to open and close the laptop several times for it to work. Adjusting the angle of the screen can also cause it to turn grey. My guess is this is a physical connection issue rather than a hardware or drive issue. Once it works it works flawlessly until the screen is closed again. I'm planning to tear into it (again) and see if there is a bad connection, but I fear it may be a poor connection within the hinges. Any thoughts?

HP has introduced a new line of AMD power Elitebook and Probook laptops. The Elitebook gets 3 new models, 735 G5, 745 G5, and 755 G5, while the Probook gets a single new model, the 645 G4. All of the Elitebooks uses AMD Ryzen with Radeon VEGA, while the Probook uses AMD Ryzen Pro with Radeon VEGA graphics. All of them supports up to 32GB of DDR4 of user replaceable memory in dual channel mode. For storage it supports both SATA and M.2 including NVMe as well as US Government encryption standard FIPS 140-2. The Elitebooks comes with a 13" for the 735, 14" on the 745, and 15.6" for the 755. For Probook it comes with a 14". All of them has a resolution of 1920x1080, IPS panel, optional touch, and while all of them have a 1920x1080 resolution, the Probook also has a entry level screen at 1366x768. For keyboard they're spill resistant and comes with drain ports. On the connectivity side of things, it comes with gigabit lan, 1x1 or 2x2 wifi with Bluetooth, USB 3.1 including type C, HDMI 2.0, Secure Card, and Intel XMM 7360 LTE module. Price will range from $760 to $1,000+ and will be available at the end of May. With the introduction of a intergrated cellular module like the Intel XMM 7630, it would be interesting to see if other laptop manufactures will soon follow or they will wait until 5G becomes available. My parent's HP Probook G2 has been having connectivity issues with the display when it is opened or moved. Just a few minutes ago I had to open and close the display 5 or 6 times before the screen would display the desktop instead of grey vertical lines. I'm almost certain its not a driver issue as this only occurs when the laptop screen is physically moved relative to the body. I expect a bad connection or bad wire so I'm planning to disassemble it and examine the connection between the motherboard and the display. Any thoughts on this?

Hello there! If you found your way here, it's hopefully due to one of the following reasons: You (already) own an HP ProBook 6475b (specifically) You (already) own a laptop with a removable Trinity/Richland APU You (already) own an HP tx1305us (specifically) or an AMD-based tx1000 series laptop You (already) own a laptop with a removable Socket S1 (g1-g4 welcome) processor You're (for some odd reason) interested in buying a laptop that is like what's listed above? Please note that this thread is centered around HP business-class and consumer-class laptops that feature removable CPUs, removable RAM, and expansion bays/ports (like Expresscard). If your laptop does not meet at least one of these criteria, this is not the thread for your laptop. It needs to meet at least one of these criteria to be discussed here. With that out of the way, welcome to the legacy HP laptop thread! It's named as such because of how HP currently handles these products (especially when outside of warranty). If you're 'sporting' at least one of the aforementioned models (like I am), this is the place for you to be. I (hopefully along with others) will be giving accounts of personal usage and experience, pertaining to these laptops, along with tips and tricks about how I (attempt to) get the most out of these devices in daily use. Keep in mind, I am no expert in laptop technologies. For all intensive uses, this is simply a thread where users of the mentioned models/devices can help each other out. While you're here, you'l want to make a habit of sharing specs - so that we'll have a better picture of what's going on. If you're here for troubleshooting purposes, please use warranty-based options FIRST before coming here. This thread should be your last resort, for when all else fails and HP can't bring your laptop back up to par. Now that I got that off my chest, I am also obliged to bring up the fact that this thread is somewhat inspired by the following precursory content: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/hp-probook-6475b-owners-thread.708578/page-5 http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...rongest-amd-a10-5750m-es-richland-apu.720732/ http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-HP/ProBook_6475b.html https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...-install/518b215e-682c-4e44-9870-c91529927bb8 https://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/t...50-igp-via-flash/?tab=comments#comment-150820 https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-HP-Pavilion-Tx1000-Tx2000-Phoenix-Bios https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/archive/index.php?thread-27171.html With the resources presented, you can tell exactly where this conversation is intended to go - the maintenance and upkeep of these (and similar) laptop models while running Windows Vista, 7, or 10 (Home Premium, Professional, Ultimate, Enterprise, or other editions above Home). Can also include projects/mods involving these laptops if you're into that sort of thing. If you laptop is already in critical condition, this is probably not the place either - the links above are for laptops with issues that are fixable with custom BIOS versions (not involving fragged/damaged hardware). As such, if you need to stick your <insert hardware/part here> in the oven, this is not the thread for it. I'll go on and share my (somewhat paltry) specs below, in case anyone is interested: AMD A10-5750m (not ES) 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 SO-DIMM 500GB HDD (5400rpm) Windows 10 Pro (1703) missing fingerprint reader and webcam I'm done blabbing, so please tell your stories and experiences - or share a related question if you so chose...

Hi guys, A while ago, i found out that my HP ProBook 455 G1 was kinda sluggish and acting weird after being in sleep. Yesterday, i had another problem, which i solved by looking in the log in Windows, and then i saw this: (See attached picture) It means something like: The systems firmware has changed the processors MTTR's (memory type range registers) in a transition to/from sleep mode. This can result in reduced performance when you proceed from sleep mode. Do you think this has something to do with my problem? If you need more details, just ask! Thank you! (Sorry for bad English)

A couple days ago I did a review on my HP ProBook laptop and I think it is one of the better videos that I have done. I have been using this laptop as my main computer for over a year and I wanted to go over the "physical features" and talk about my personal experiences with it. I was wondering if I could get some feedback on how you think I did and possibly some tips on how I could improve my videos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrq3tW7GBCE

Hi The computer I need help with is a computer I got from school, it had windows 8 installed, and when trying to update to windows 8.1 it more or less shat itself and now every time I try to boot it it gives me a BSOD. And after it restarting itself a couple of times I get to a screen with a bit of text and the error code: 0xc0000001 And under the error code there are 2 options. One is to continue, wich only gives me more BSOD, and the other one is a start options menu. (This is the start options menu) But what ever of those I press I just get a BSOD and I just see it say INTERNAL_POWER_ERROR. To clarify, I can't acces anything in windows, it boots up, the windows logo comes up, the swirly loading thing is there and then like 3 seconds in, BSOD.

I recently Purchased an HP Probook 4330s from a second hand shop for $75 (a steal I thought) and I reinstalled windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, and after the install I have all drivers installed, (according to Device manager) but the wireless portion of my wlan+BT 4.0 +HS card (Atheros AR5B195) is not showing up. The bluetooth portion is showing up, but nothing under network devices. I just installed a new one I ordered online and it didn't fix the issue. Any ideas?

My parents have an aging HP ProBook 450 G2 that has a failing screen that needs to be replaced soon. They'd like to spend around $500-600 to replace it and I will swap the SSD that I installed in the old one to the new one. It's just used for streaming youtube and editing documents so performance isn't a big issue at all, and it should be pretty snappy once I install the SSD and reinstall windows. A similar size and style to the ProBook 450 G2 would be nice as well. Any recommendations?
