Hello , i'm writing today about an issue i encountered ! I got a new GPU recently RX7900xt to replace my old 1070ti ( it served well , but got old). Then i started having coilwhine all of a sudden coming from my PSU - EVGA Supernova G+ 1000W Gold rated (its deffo the PSU whining , i really got my ear in there ). Also the PSU only whines under load , like in-game also in Furmark Bench . While i realise Coilwhine on itself isn't a lot to worry about , as its just a negative byproduct of a normal electrical operation ! And i realise this could also just be caused by the vibrations of the increased power draw from the new GPU ! I've had this PSU since 2019. and it was ok all this time with no coil whine , at least with the power needs of 1070ti ! Could this newly appeared coilwhine mean an undrelying issue that has arrisen with the higher powerdraw from the newly aquired rx7900xt ? Or maybe is sort of was allways there and i didn't realise it because i wasn't drawing that much power with the old card ( 1070Ti ). Am i just worryed for nothing ? Other than that , all seems to work fine (Temps ok , not crashing or anything) Just that sudden apperance of PSU coilwhine with the new GPU upgrade got me a bit on edge ! Before i got the new card i figured my existing EVGA Supernova G+1000W Gold rated Psu should be able to pull the load ! I can live with the noise if i can be sure the PSU won't suddenly destroy my system or doesn't under-power it and corrupt data on any components ! Anyone with some advice out there ? Upgrading GPU and CPU: Strix RX480 8GB OC > > > TUF RX7800XT Ryzen 7 2700X > > > Ryzen 9 5900X 16GB DDR4 > > > 32GB DDR4 (Kingston Fury) Currently have a Cooler Master B600 600W PSU and I'll need a new one for the RX 7800XT, 850W is recommended (minimum 750W but I'd rather have extra room), but of course I'm looking to get the most reliable PSU for the least money I can. I would probably go with any Cooler Master 850W 80+ Gold but they're above my budget (unless everything else available would be a bad choice), currently have these few picked out as options and I'm interested in opinions and open to suggestions (just keep the suggestions in this or similar price range - Be Quiet 850W System Power 10 BN330 80+ Gold - Gigabyte GP-P850GM 80+ Gold - LC Power 1000W LC1000M V2.31 80+ Gold - MSI 850W MPG A850GF 80+ Gold - Gigabyte 1000W GP-UD1000GM 80+ Gold These 5 are placed in ascending price order, around 42 euros in difference from BeQuiet and Gigabyte 1000W with the rest in between Another 2 options are - Corsair RM850x 850W V2 80+ Gold (priced somewhere in the middle of the first 5) - Cooler Master Cooler Master MWE 80+ Bronze V2 MPE-7501-ACABW-BEU 750W - cheapest on this list (but I would still go with 850W) Thanks in advance

Hello, i bought a new PSU last week, everything was alright until today, i was just playing a game, then i was about to quit it, but my PC went off with a loud pop sound, i disconnected every cable i had there, i took off the PSU which was hot and smelled like it is fried. So i replaced it with my older PSU, but my CPU and GPU fans were like crazy, GPU had 27°C which was normal when i turned the PC on, but CPU cores had 67-70°C which is not normal cause on average when i turn my PC on it's usually 46°C One note, the whole process of replacing PSU took me about half an hour so CPU should have been cold already right? So im wondering if it messed up the CPU/Mobo or if it's hot just because of that PSU failure or if it is broken and i have to replace it.

Also will my electric bill will be now double since my computer will now consume 450watts despite being a 125 watt load?

Hey guys I just stumbled upon this new PSU, can I ask for your inputs on this one? Is it worth buying over say, Seasonic or FSP? Hoping for any feedback, thank you!

Hello, i am a little bit concerned if this power supply will be enough for my system: Be quiet! Straight Power 11 750W 80 Plus Gold. In the computer will be MSI RTX 3080 Ventus and ryzen 7 5800x which i am planning to slightly overclock. There also will be quite some fans, several SSD's and additional stuff. I was planing to buy 850W model but nothing interesting is really available in my country. What would you suggest? Thanks for help!

Hi PSU: Asus ROG Thor 850 80 Plus Platinum (ROG-THOR-850P) or ROG THOR 1200 (ROG-THOR-1200P) 80 Plus Platinum I have a query regarding the RGB in this PSU. I have an ASRock Phantom Gaming X Motherboard that has an addressable RGB header on board. Can I use this header to control the RGB lighting on the Thor? On the Asus site it mentions that the RGB can be controlled via Aura Sync compatible motherboards only and for all other scenarios the color will be a solid red only, but, this review on youtube (jump to 1:19 in the video) Here the reviewer states that the RGB can be controlled with any RGB lighting software that the board supports. Just wanted to confirm if this is true? Has anybody who has had this PSU hooked it to a non Asus motherboard like MSI or ASRock and has still been able to control the RGB effects apart from the default solid color. Thanks Yash

Ever since my original post about slowly upgrading/rebuilding a PC, I have gained a few responses that have inspired me to keep going. Here goes, let's make a blog! So, first off, my plan is to slowly build up my PC, replacing a component one by one, so I am not sure how long this is going to take me. Every time I have to replace a component, have an interesting find, good indications for the projects, and bad indications for the project, I will post a blog for it. As I have said in my previous blog post, specs, but I will place them here too. Specifications: Case: I have no clue what it is called. (I know, we are already off to a great start!) But I know that it is the stock case for the ASUS Essentio CM1730. Looks like this. Motherboard: The kind of old, m4A7BLT-m in all its glory. CPU: AMD Phenom(TM) II X6 1065T Processor, coming in at 2.90 GHz. (Also, sorry if on another post I referred to it as 2.80 GHz, ) Graphics: AMD 760G (integrated(?)) RAM: 8.00 gb (7.75 usable) Storage: (Once again), not sure. I do know that still has 786 gb free of 921 gb. I can check certain things if the hard drive/disk is important to you, but so far I have had no luck with the places I have checked. PSU: (crappy) Okia-450atx, and yes, I know that I need to replace it. You can check out other people's ideas over here, but I would recommend any new (if needed) suggestions land on this post for organizational reasons. So, as you can tell, not a great PC, I mean, it can barely land on a somewhat decent framerate on Garry's Mod, gm_flatgrass, no mods. So, what are my current plans? Well, more copy+paste from my other post. Case: A new MicroATX case, probably somewhere on Newegg, as my motherboard is MicroATX, and some of the case options look quite nice to me. Here is a list. Priority: Low Motherboard: No clue: ??? Priority: ??? CPU: I don't think an upgrade is in place, but I doubt this is the high priority. Correct me if I'm wrong. Priority: Low Graphics: GTX 1050 (ti(?)) Priority: Medium RAM: Later on, I plan on (possibly) getting 16 gigs for my PC, as it seems compatible. Priority: Low Storage: Maybe a new Harddrive, possibly SSD. Priority: Low PSU: looking for suggestions, though the "be quiet! PURE POWER 10-CM 500W" seems like a good option, tell me your thoughts. Priority: Medium/High Also, when I say priority, I mean right at the moment of making this. Once I upgrade a part, the priority list will change a lot. Here are some responses from one of my latest forum posts. I agreed to pretty much everything that he said. (It was ApolloX75's reply, by the way, go follow his profile!) I also got: Once again, thanks to another user (Diones), go follow him/her on him/her's profile! Anyways, I have decided that I want to start with upgrading the Power Supply Unit (PSU), as the one in my system is one of those cheapo PSU's that company's use because they are cheaper, and I don't want to use that! I am currently looking into these PSU's, and I will get back to you when I decide on one. I also know the PSU tier list is a great place to look. be quiet! PURE POWER 10-CM 500W CORSAIR CX Series CX650 650W ATX12V 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply Thermaltake Smart Pro RGB 650W EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G1 I'll try to take advantage of any sales that come across, but for now, that is my list. I'll update once I figure something else out! Thanks for your time, Enderess

https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categories/Products/Power-Supply-Units/CX-M-Series™/p/CP-9020220-NA As of now I can't find any review on this unit. It is listed in the psu c-tier list as low priority unit. Does anyone have any review or test data on this unit? Is this a good power supply?

Hello I am planning on purchasing parts in the near future to build my first desktop. I have been meticulously picking out parts that meet all my criteria but the PSU is something i am having a bit of trouble with and i am seeking assistance. I found the calculator on a techquickie video but i do not fully understand it. There are photos attached of me doing a BALL PARK estimate of what the PC will be when it is done. it is a ball park estimate because i have not fully finished shopping yet. Parts that are ON my list currently: Case: Cougar Challenger MB: z270 xpower gaming titanium MSI GPU: Nvidia GTX 1080ti Heat Sink: Noctua nhd15 heat pipe CPU: intel i7 7700 kabylake lga 1151 Planned to shop for parts: * Bluray Optical Drive *I estimate 6-7 fans, 1 for sure will have leds in it, 2 might be static pressure if that makes a difference *at least 1 ssd *a few (2-4) Hardrives * 32gb - 64gb ram (Have yet to decide, leaning more toward 64) ddr4 *bluetooth (that should cover it i think) Thank you in advance to anyone that can help. I am basically asking "hey here's what i got so far, and here's what im thinking about getting... now tell me/send me a link of a good PSU to buy

Hey there This question've been bothering me for two decades now, but since PSU's are still evolving, it's hard to get a clear answer. I'm having Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 11 850W atm. in my "future" computer. And my question goes as follows. 1. I have 2 PSU cables. Both have 1 x 8 pin and 2 x 4 pin cable. Thus 2 x 8 pin. Does it matter, whether I use two cables, with 16 + 16 pin cables, and only use the 8 pin rails from each, thus leaving 4 + 4 on each vacant, or can I use just one cable [for the sake of better cable managment]? The 7900X is a power hungry beast, and as I saw it can suck up to 500 watts from the wall, thus, I'm not sure if the rails are connected within the PSU, or not at all. 2. I have SATA cables, like 8 of them, each can handle up to 4 devices. My question goes as follows. I have one high-watt pump [Laing DDC] + case fan hub [Be Quiet! Dark Base 900 Pro] with attached 4 fans so far [am planning at least one more], where each of the fans have around 3 watts at peak [12V x 0.202A as they state on the website - Corsair ML140 Pro] and 2 SSDs, Intel 750 U.2, where each SSD sucks up to 20Watts. That's around 50Watts of load for one rail. Is it better to distributed this load? Thank You for Your eventual advice, Kind regards Bryan

hi guys, can you take a look at this please i will buy a power supply of 550W. my computer will need to use 436W (ive used a watt calculator). so, will the psu draw 436W or 550W of power from the wall? i would like to know because i'm buying an UPS. will a UPS of 550W be good enough to keep my computer + monitor (45W) on for like 4-5 minutes, just the right amount of time to save and shut it down? also, i've read that PSU will draw 130W more from the wall only for delivering power. is that true? so for istance: a 550W PSU will actually draw from the power 550W plus a certain percentage, depending on the quality of the psu, so maybe 675W total? i need to know all of that because i want to buy an UPS and i need to know if a 550W UPS is good enough(computer + monitor) or if i need a higher capacity thanks regards

Recently I had problems with my PC always turning off as soon as I start any game that needs a little bit... More... saying, Power Surges had been detected... And this 'more' starts with Minecraft Vanilla, which should be a game that I could even play modded not so long ago. I read a few threads and one just said to turn off ASUS Anti-Power Surge, because it soesn't work well. So I did just this and installed HWMonitor and started Minecraft unmodded. While doing so I observed the stats in HWMonitor and didn't see any drastic changes, but I still wanted to ask whether these statistics are normal or whether I should buy a new Power Supply Unit... English isn't my mother language so sorry for grammatical mistakes or typos °-° Thanks for any replies!

I am in the process of building a new PC. After weeks of evaluations of different components and catching up with chipset news, motherboards reviews, CPU comparisons...etc I am very tired. The most troubling thing is how to find a suitable case considering all factors like form factors, airflow, heat issues...etc. Then I thought, why do we bother! My PC is sitting on the floor next to me on the left hand side of my desk. Why can't I install a stand of the same height of my desk of course, then place a wooden board on top of it as an insulator. The whole setup will be put on the wooden board!! It's an entirely open setup and I do't need to worry about airflow and heat dissipation. The only disadvantage I can think of is that the dB coming out of the PSU fan, CPU fan or AIO fans as well as the dual GPU fans will be directly audible. But at least, 2 or 3 less fans from the case. What you folks reckon?

Hello everyone, im writing this since I recently started having issues with System Instability while instability normally is a PSU issue that is caused by either having a faulty PSU or by overclocking to high my issue is different since it's not easy to reproduce so yea... im just gonna list the problems: It crashing without restarting, there also still is an imagine of some sort on the screen (a color that matches the window theme on my secondary monitor and a black screen on my main monitor it happens onces and after that its fine for a few days to multiple weeks even at a 100% load stress test it dosen't crash I already had to send back my RM750x onces because the fan was broken oh yea and before i forget it here are the detailed system specs Ryzen 5 1500x @ 3.50Ghz Strix RX Vega 56 @ StockSpeeds 16GB of some not sure what brand but running at 2400 Mhz 980 Evo M.2 SSD 3TB WD Red HDD

Hello everyone, I have a seasonic 430eco PSU, I found a used RX570 on the internet, was wondering if I should go ahead and buy it. present setup: i5 4460 8GB RAM (4*2) GTX1050 On AMDs website, they say that 450W is recommended, but the GPU only draws 150W (well within the range of 396W that my 430wPSU is capable of pushing) Additional info: 1. Further down the line I plan on getting a i7 4770, as my i5 seems to be struggling with Battlefield 5. (power consumption of both CPUs is 84W) 2. (see image below) My PSU supplies 82W on the 5V rail, (been using it since 2015, haven't run into any sort of trouble with my 84W i5) 3. 12V 396W (18A+18A) TLDR: I wanna buy an RX570, I have a Seasonic ECO430 (don't wanna buy new PSU) - won't buy RX570 if it's not recommended.

So I recently just built my PC and I'm wondering if I can place my AE86 and R34 Tomica cars directly on the PSU? As you can see my case doesn't have like a cage (or box?? I have no idea what that part is called) that hides the PSU. Is there any danger to it?
