Hey all, I'm thinking of buying the Pixel 2 (not XL) today and was wondering if there are any current owners here who provide their own impressions of the phone, particularly with regards to battery life. The main reasons I want this phone are because it would have better SOT than the god-awful galaxy s6 I currently own, and I wouldn't have to wait for Android updates. Thanks.

I Personally love the Pixel 2 (Not XL.) I don't see what's the deal with a wide curved screen, I honestly really prefer the so called "Chunky looking" one of the regular Pixel 2. It looks more compact and makes it easier to pull down the notifications menu, which I had a lot of issue doing with my current SmartPhone which has quite a big screen. I guess I just like smaller devices in general. Multitasking is very handy as well, I only wish more apps supported it, such as Netflix. The Stock Android experience in my opinion, is by far the BEST Mobile OS experience ever created (This is also why I Installed stock Android apps by Google on my device and replaced the Stock launcher with Google Now, which makes it easy to search in both the Web and in my Apps list) . The Material look is both a pleasure for my eyes and incredibly minimalistic and easy to use. Every interface has some cool effects to it which don't slow down or lag the Device, and they somehow make the whole thing feel more alive, as in more interactive than previous versions of android (talking about the old JellyBean thoguht, 5.0 was a huge jump for Android). The camera looks sweet, color saturation seems to be amazing and video recording is insanely clear. Also love the look and front facing speakers are the amazing. Probably one of my favorite smartphones of all time, it's just the perfection to me. I was wondering what you think about it. I don't really see whats' the big deal with a bigger smartphone. If I want to watch videos at an high resolution, I just open up my laptop. (Ironically my Laptop has a 764p screen while my Smartphone is 1080p). Also does curved glass even make the difference? I found it such useless.

The current trend in the world of smartphones seems to be to remove the headphone jack from the phones in order to save precious space on the chassis. The question is, does the removal of the headphone jack make a smartphone less convenient to use on a daily basis? Or the headphone jack is not something essential and we can live with dongles and adapters? IMO, this seems to be a dumb idea to me, I use and care for the headphone jack all the time when I'm working out, on a bus, or even walking down a street. Removing it and charging anywhere between $9 and $20 (ouch!) for an adapter that I will definitely lose is not forward thinking, that's just weird. I thought advancement in technology is supposed to make our life easier and less stressful, not more inconvenient. BTW, all friendly discussions are welcomed.

Hey everyone, new here so my official Hello. I was curious some opinions on if I should get the Note 8 (I will get about $300 bonus gear for pre-ordering) or wait and see what the Pixel 2 offers. I was basically set on the Note 8 (pen is a big selling point for Me), until I watched the linustechtips review posted today. Any input is appreciated. Regards, John

I'm trying to find a new phone within the $300 to $370 range, and I don't want to go for a budget device, as that is what I am on right now. Instead, I am looking at refurbished flagships from 2017 or 2018 trying to decide between the Galaxy S9, iPhone 8, and Pixel 2 XL. Right now, the iPhone 8 and the Pixel 2 XL seem like the strongest options, the iPhone because of the long-term apple software support, as well as the A11 processor working together to futureproof it, though the storage and memory for the price isn't great. The pixel also seems like a good option because it has the oled screen over the iPhone, as well as the higher resolution, more storage, and 4 GB of ram, although the processor seems like a trade-off. I have no problem with having to install a different version of android later when Google or Samsung stops supporting their older phones. When it comes to hardware though, it seems to me like there will be many more replacement iPhone parts available in 3-4 years than either the pixel or the S9. Another reason I am not too excited about the S9 is I have held it before, and I am not a huge fan of its feel, which I think might really bother me if I end up using it. That doesn't mean that I'm not open to the possibility of using it.

Hi. I need some help with WiFi calling. I am trying to enable WiFi calling on my Pixel 2. My provider is Swedish Tele 2 and they confirmed that they have this feature. On my Pixel 2 however it seems to be disabled/not available. It looks like the setting exists when I search for it, but when I navigate to it, there is nothing there. By dialing *#*#4636#*#* I could see that "Wifi Calling Provisioned" is disabled (the screenshot attached). This is as far as I could go for now. The question that I have is whether this feature gets enabled on the phone/device level or operator level? Should I contact the provider and ask to provision it? Thanks!

I've been an iPhone user for about 8 years now, and I'm looking forward to switching away from that terrible company. I'd like someone who has a Google Pixel 2 to help me out here with some specific info: 1.) What is the format of video files when you import them to a Windows PC? MP4? 2.) Does it record videos in H.264 only, or is there a HEVC option on the phone as well? 3.) Does it geo-tag photos AND videos, or only photos? If anyone would be awesome enough to post screenshots of the Windows "properties" of a photo and video sample from that phone, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm mainly curious if the coordinates show up in properties on Windows for video files, as well as photos. Thank you!!

So, after months of leaks (opening of the flood gates, really) the Pixel 3 XL has officially been announced. I am in the need of a new phone very badly (completely bricked my Samsung Galaxy S7 and currently rocking an old and semi-functioning iPhone 5s) and have been patiently waiting for the new pixel to be launched. I love the stock android experience as I get frustrated with all the bloatware of other phones. I also don't want to try and get another phone with bloatware and try to remove it by rooting (how I ended up bricking my older S7). However, based on the specs of the phone and looking at its price and the mound of features and changes that are not great, is there a reason to get the new Pixel 3 XL, especially compared with the 2 XL and the upcoming Oneplus 6T? It seems like the real meat of the phone is almost the same as the 2 XL, so why even bother with the newer model? I am an extremely heavy phone user and I am worried that the 4 GB of memory won't be enough.

I am budget concerned, and till date have been using galaxy J1 mini. I am not an apple fanboy. I want to buy a premium phone. In my area, i am getting iPhone 6s 32gb at 400 usd, pixel 128gb at 500 usd, and pixel 2 64gb at 560 usd. Which one will be bang for the bucks? They all are brand new, available with manufacturer warranty.

To jump right to it I am looking for a new phone and I usually a heavy phone user, doing a lot of things on it. I used to have a Samsung Galaxy S7 and destroyed beyond repair. With all of the leaks/opening of the leevee it is safe to assume most likely what that phone will be. A first question I did have is why, why buy the new Pixel 3. Hardware wise, it is almost the same as the Pixel 2 and the changes are mostly minor, especially when you consider they will run the same OS. Obviously the Pixel 3 is still "rumours" but it will probably run the same as the Pixel 2 XL with Android 9. I am curious about opinions compared to the newest Samsung Galaxy S9+ and Note 9. I am tired of all of the Samsung bloat ware eating up CPU and RAM usage and do prefer stock Android. Are there other phones to keep my out for? I won't be getting anything until October-ish, so waiting is an option. I am curious about the Asus ROG phone, because it is pretty cool, but I don't think my significant other would like the RGB back of it, not to mention it would probably be expensive.

I'm currently looking for a used phone, because it makes no sense to me to pay over 500$ for a phone. Koodo is offering the Pixel 2 for 480$ over a 2 year contract (Large Tab) and the cheapest used Pixel 2 I found was 650$ and 2 hours drive away. I'm not really keen about contracts either, but I could actually take the contract and pay the phone right away. Is this really a good deal or there is something I don't know? Im helping a friend pick out a phone, they want a phone that feels good in the hand but also looks good. Im thinking go with pixel 2 or S9. So, to any Pixel 2 owners out there, how bad are the bezels? Do you notice them? Do they make the display look weird? Let me know.

I was just wanting to know what brand or what is the best screen protector for the pixel 2 XL that is case friendly because the last one I bought just kept on popping off because of the case Thank you! Thats all!

So my current phone, the 5s from Apple, is on its last legs and I am looking for a new phone to replace it. I am currently pretty split between the 3 phones you see in the title and I was wondering if anyone here could give a little bit more info on the phones, because ive already watched the reviews and read the comments on them. My main focus is on great display and battery life, a sleek and very nice and comfortable design (I also like the minimalist approach to the touch sensor on the Vivo x21). Im not really a picture taking guy so camera quality is pretty low on the board for me, though it is a nice touch.

how does the gear s3 work with the pixel 2 xl. im currently using a galaxy s7 edge and am thinking of either biting the bullet and getting a pixel 2 xl or an s8 plus, I can get both around the same price.

I am getting rid on my OnePlus 3 and I'm not sure what to replace it with. I have a budget of between £400 - £550. The main things that I'm looking for is a good camera since I use my phone camera foe everything. A good display since I use my phone for everything on the go. As for audio as long as it meets the OP3 then it would be fine. I looking at either the: Blackberry KEYone LG V30 Samsung S8 Google Pixel 2 Though I'm open to somthing else.

Hey guys, Bit of a story here... I've been an iPhone user for 8 years. Having always kept up with the Android world and seeing how polished things are starting to look on the green side of the fence, I decided to jump ship this year. Just picked up a Pixel 2 yesterday and first impressions -- man this phone feels like a Ferrari compared to my old 6s. Loving the customization, performance and additional features I now have access to. Unfortunately, it's not all lollipops and rainbows... Today whilst spending some time on my phone at work I was downloading a few apps -- Discord, Spotify, Reddit and the like. All of a sudden, out of the blue I started noticing apps I had chosen to download were getting caught at the "Download Pending..." phase and never completing. After getting home this afternoon I continued to try getting my apps to install and update, with no luck despite hours of troubleshooting and exhaustive Google searches on the matter trying about a dozen different things to kickstart the Play store. FINALLY after several hours I got to the point where I could kick off app installs, reboot the phone and ONE SINGLE app would then proceed to download/update with subsequent ones getting caught back in "Download pending" limbo. Repeated this six times, always the same behavior. At this point, I decided F it I'll factory reset I don't have really anything to lose at this point. And so I do... Things go fine after the reset, I'm able to re-install my apps without any hang-ups. Only... I notice something a bit odd. I was never asked to update all the default Google apps like you usually are after booting up a new device. Trying to use Google assistant I received a prompt "To use Google Assistant, please update the Google App." Heading on over to the play store and checking the My Apps category I see I have no pending or available updates, that's strange. When I do a manual store search for any of those apps (Gmail, Maps, Google, etc. etc.) they all have "UPDATE" clear as day right there on their individual pages. Now I have to go through manually searching for each default app in the Store and updating it. This being my first time on Android, I see there are a lot of other framework type things that get installed via the Play Store and so I'm pretty positive I could be missing some things. I guess for anyone reading this who has a deeper understanding of Android... is this experience typical of this operating system? I don't need lessons in troubleshooting or other things, it's my day job. I just really want to love this phone and OS and hate that two days in I'm encountering... this.
