Hi all, I just got a Note 8 and my dad got an S8+. With the same settings, on my phone the AoD consumes ~6-10% of battery in just a few hours of uptime and on his phone it's negligible, not even shown on the battery data screen. Why is that and how can I fix this? Aren't the two phones supposed to be similar in battery draw and the Note 8 actually outperforming the S8+ in this regard even with a smaller battery? And even if the Note 8 has a higher consumption by default, why does the AoD, which is the same on the S8+ on _almost_ the same display, consumes more on my device than on his? I can't decide between the Note 8 and Mate 10... the only thing that's keeping me from buying the note 8 is the size (actually haven't tried it out yet, just an assumption that it'll be too big for me) In the poll I'll include more than these phones...

This is more of an opinion piece than news but no one is bringing this to the "mainstream" eye and I thought this may be a good forum to do so. As a previous Note 7 owner I was happy to see that Samsung was offering US customers deep discounts when purchasing a new Note 8, $425 deep! WOW! But what about the 38 000 Canadian's that owed Note 7. Since day 1 (August 23rd) Samsung said that there would be an incentive program in Canada "shortly". It has now been 1 month of patiently waiting for the incentive program, the pre-order bonuses have come and gone. US customers could bundle the "bonuses" but not us Canadians. Speaking of pre-order bonuses US bonuses are a 256gb SD card and a wireless charger or a 360 camera, what does Canada get? Samsung: "um... ya we don't care about Canadians lets only give them a 128gb card and a wireless charger, forget about the camera".

Hey guys, I recently bought the 64gb galaxy note 8 (pre-ordered it) model number SM-N950F/DS. After about 2-3 weeks of use, I noticed that my phone gets very hot under heavy use and also overheats sometimes. Before this, I used the galaxy s7 edge and it never overheated on me... although I am using the note 8 heavier. The phone first overheated when i was using mobile hotspot with 4G+ and recording a hyperlapse while at the same time charging the phone with a QC 3.0 charger (it gave a "phone is too hot to use camera" warning). I record a lot of time-lapses and this has happened to me 2-3 times after about 1-2 hrs of use. Other than that, the phone also overheats when using VR on mobile data. Since my house has pretty crap wifi, I tend to use my mobile data when using the gear VR and it overheats after about 20 minutes of use (overheat warning again) and it quits the VR program. This is extremely annoying as it limits me to using VR for only 15-20 minutes before it becomes unusable. I don't even have anything else on! No location, no wifi, hotspot and not even charging. The gear VR has a charging port on it and god knows how long it would last if I used it. My question is if any of you who use the Note 8 or s8 have the same problem. Is my device faulty or is it just crap heat management on Samsung's part? Should i send my phone in for warranty repair? Thanks for the help!

Hey everyone, new here so my official Hello. I was curious some opinions on if I should get the Note 8 (I will get about $300 bonus gear for pre-ordering) or wait and see what the Pixel 2 offers. We did a beta update on the Note 8 but we are unable to reverse it back to normal. What can we do?

Hi, I saw some good deals on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and well I have been thinking of replacing my aging S5 for a while now(3 years old no 4G) . People who are going to suggest OnePlus 6 and Pixel 2 I value your suggestions, but here are the reasons why I don't want the Pixel 2 and OnePlus 6. They run stock android its well to clean Yea I know stupid but sometimes I feel they lack a lot of basic apps l feel the file manager on S5 is better than whats available on OnePlus 6. The Samsung browser is good night mode etc S Planner these tools do seems useful and well the rest l usually just disable. I have used the OnePlus 6, the phone is snappy but based on my friends experience even after the update the battery performance is bad without much youtube or skype or InShorts etc. It charges fast but that all camera is decent, not great. Also my friend claimed the phone is fast but not as good as before update don't know if it's true or not. I saw a lot of videos of the older One Plus phones with 6 gigs of ram that had visible lag after a year or so.. Now the Pixel for me the photos taken by Pixel though good seem a bit dull at times based on camera tests I have seen, MKBHD said the battery life has taken a hit and device has become a "bit" slow.. Now Why the heck am I saying all this ? After an exchange of my current phone and a cashback, Note 8 will be available for Rs 46000+ (I know expensive). I want to buy a Phone that will last me a good 3-5 Years without many issues, I have used Nexus 7(2nd gen) tablet which is a good device and had great reviews but well I never was too happy with it and after my usage(faced random restarts and ghost touches), I felt it was overhyped and overrated. The S5, on the other hand, I bought a year after the device launched it was available for just 22k at the time. I was really happy with the camera and display like I was "happy happy", it wasn't perfect heating issues a random restart but the device served me well battery wasn't as spectacular as claimed by people who reviewed the phone but well I was happy my question is what do I do Now? Google Pixel 2 often goes for sale for 34k, One Plus 6 costs just 34k Is it better to purchase either of these instead of the Note 8, I have no use of the stylus, The camera 2x zoom big display and dual sim is the only thing making me drift to Samsung. Should I buy it or wait? as the new Exynos Chipsets in S9 are making changes to improve single thread performance is buying the Note 8 at 46k worth it? with 5G and several other changes coming? Sorry for long post don't have any potatoes but if I am going to spend such a huge amount I want it to last last and stay relevant for some time....

Is their any news for a fix for Text tones? Since the Orieo update disabled it.

Don't buy it for your Note 8. It's a POS, get something else. It cracked after only 1 month of use, Zero drops. So I went to the website to do a warranty replacement and they want a minimum of $9.99 (without tracking) for a replacement. Um no. So buyer beware.

Someones offering to buy my 2016 Samsung Gear VR that came with my Galaxy S7, they have a Note 8 though & according to the Verge & other sources it's not compatible. Yet a Best Buy employee (I tried not to laugh), told them that so long as it's USB C that it'll work just fine >.>. Am I right in telling this person no it wont & that if we tried to cram his Note 8 into the previous model Gear VR that both devices could become damaged? *EDIT: If so it's all the more reason for me to never shop at Best Buy again >.<.
