So I'm in the middle of a fully new desktop build. AM5, 7800X3D for the CPU. Went to Microcenter this morning and picked up a Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT ($550) for my GPU. My goal is to game at 1440p at high, with around 144 fps. My total build has worked out to just around $1400 USD. Everything I've been seeing now today has be second guessing my decision on this card. Almost everyone seems to be of the mind either get the 6800XT, or a 6950XT instead for around the same price point. Should I return it and try for one of those? Should I spend alittle more and try to bump up to a 7900XT?

Hello all, Im having a little technical glitch every so often that i was hoping i might be able to get some insight from those who might be a little more well versed that I currently am. Afew years ago i built myself Ryzen 2000 series based computer, And i lucked out and was able to get ahold of a new Sapphire Nitro+ Vega 64 to toss into it. It's worked beautifully since then. I just recently added a second monitor to my setup, and thats where the small issues began. Every so often on start up, the system will only seem to recognize a single monitor as being connected. A reboot or two will bring the second monitor up. I've also had the rare occasion where, after having both monitors come up, one will flicker and go black for several seconds before coming back on. When this happens, it does not revert to displaying on a single screen, it will keep the dual screen set up, i just cant see one. I have noticed that the issue only seems to occur on the monitor the system recognizes as 'screen 2'. This happens to be my old monitor, not the new one. I have tried moving cables around, that has not seemed to have an affect on the issue. Any help would be appreceated

I have the RX 480 Nitro+ (1342 Mhz Edition) This card has been driving me absolutely insane, as I cant get it to hold any kind of stable overclock. At bare stock settings. Core Clock: 1342 Mhz Core Volts: 1150 mv Mem Clock: 2000 Mhz Idle Temps: Mid 40's Load Temps: High 60's At bare stock with change of thermal paste (Changed to Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut) Core Clock: 1342 Mhz Core Volts: 1150 mv Mem Clock: 2000 Mhz Idle Temps: Low 40's Load Temps: Low 60's Next I wanted to see how low i could get the core voltage at stock settings Core Clock: 1342 Mhz Core Volts: 1129 mv (-21) Mem Clock: 2000 Mhz Idle Temps: Low 40's Load Temps: High 50's/Low 60's Now I start off with a mild overclock. (this is the only one that is stable) Core Clock: 1375 Mhz Core Volts: 1150 mv Mem Clock: 2000 Mhz Idle Temps: Low 40's Load Temps: Low 60's The problems start when the system uses anything above the stock vcore. 1375 is about the max i can manage to have stable on the stock 1150mv vcore. It might be able to use a little more (at my current 1375 settings it will sometimes stutter) but adding the minimum amount of vcore (+6), makes it unstable. For any clocks that require additional vcore the result is the same, I get maybe about 30 seconds (I can get almost through the first pass of firestrike) and then the system freezes up, and has to be reset. It doesnt matter if im at 1400 and +20 or at 1475 and +100. It will seemingly run fine for ~30 seconds then freezes the system up. Its possible that i got a turd chip, but I think there might be another issue with the card thats keeping me from hitting higher speeds. Any ideas are appreciated

Hey forum ppl, This is a i7 6700 3,4ghz with a stock cooler (yes, you should kill me for that), and a Sapphire RX480 Nitro+ 4GB (normal air-cooled) OC'ed. Am I doing something horrible to my card or did I just win the silicon lottery? I'm a first-timer with only the help of forums and youtube video's (OC tuturials from Linus) I hope you can see the screen shot, otherwise: 1306 MHz -> 1470 MHz Core Clock 1750 MHz -> 2100 MHz Mem. Clock. 72 Celsius GPU max in room temps around 20 - 22 Celsius, and 74% fan speed. After Hours of Heaven benchmark and hours of BF1 gaming, stable. Am I killing this 480, or am I lucky with the so called silicon lottery? Please help me! Vincent.

So recently I just received this RX 580 https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202280&_ga=2.106449414.442432772.1503560156-587427202.1501745305 and the problem is that for anywhere between 10-25minutes of gaming my screen would change to black and the annoying repeating noise keeps playing, and it gives me no choice but to hard shut down via power button. This seems similar to what happens when you overclock a graphics card too far, which I have interpreted as a crash. Does anyone have any idea of why this is happening?

So the obsession continues, I swapped tim on r9 390 TRI-X and got it to 1175mhz and 1400 on memory (in wattman) without breaking 58c. Like an hour ago did it to my girls rx480 card and pretty nice results, before I couldn't even bump core 2% stable. This time I got it to 1450mhz without really going above 50c under load with custom fan curve. The peak temp your seeing is because the fan doesn't kick on for like the first 10 seconds of unigine, but once fans kick on it pulls temps back down. I'll fill out this thread more later when I get some time to really try and push it.

So after my first Nitro+480 Card died (with no voltage raised and Temps in the low 60's) which BTW had a stable OC of 1430MHz on stock voltage. I picked up another one of these cards which only OC to 1370MHz with Stock voltage (looks like second one is a dud in the OC department, will at least its lasted for more than a day). I was trying to use 3DMark Fire strike to test my OC to see if its working, but I'm having a hard time as I am getting wild swings in the results. Ok check it out, last night I ran a test at 1415MHz Core Clock, 2250Mhz Memory, +50% Power Limit and +100mV (using my i76800k OC to solid 3.9Ghz) which got me a Overall Score of 12104, 14052 Graphics, 17148 Physics, 4879 Combined. Now I ran the same exact test this morning using the same settings (see settings above) and this is what I get: Overall Score 11771, 13625 Graphics, 17104 Physics, 4731 Combined. So I'm like WTF? I ran 2 other tests using 2 other settings from my spreadsheet trying to compare last nights results (I have a spreadsheet at home using all different combinations running Fire Strike and Heaven, in order to test my OC and see what yields the best results) and they are all lower! This is a real head scratcher to me, so if anyone knows the answer that would be great. It really makes it difficult to test for correct/best settings on a card, when the Scores are all over the place. Thanks

So the two cards are closely priced but what actual differences are there.Would it be worth getting the OC variant? Any and all help is appreciated.

Hi, I'm building a budget PC whit parts of my brother old PC (MB, RAM, i7 4770). I fund a free case at a shop, bought a corsair CX430 SPU for 35$. And finaly today, I bought a used sapphire rx 580 nitro+ SE for 140$. First, I know the PSU is underpower. I planned to limit the power draw of the GPU to make sure I don't break anything. But the thing is, I din't know that this GPU has a 8+6 pins connector. So I'm wondering if its possible to use the GPU with only a 8 pins connecter? (since most 580 use 8 pins) I don't plan to OC it or push it at is max until I swap the PSU. Thanks for your advise.

So, I recently upgraded my case to a corsair 760t in white. And was searching for a blue or white graphics card to match the rest of the build theme and fit in well into my room, Today I came across the sapphire rx 580 nitro+ blue edition with 8GB, watched some youtube videos all rating the card bad for the price at 500 USD, but I found the price for 200€ on sale. (Since I live in Germany its in €.) And the questions I wanted to ask were 1. If the card was an actual card with 8GB or second hand or counterfit like @JayzTwoCents reviewed in a recent video. Of off official brand graphics cards (video link see Below), because I've never bought from that particular site before. And the second question I wanted to ask if that blue card model is a founders edition type card and I can just use a rx580 watercooling block to eventually watercool the GPU? (Official Site: http://sapphirenitro.sapphiretech.com/en/580-8.html) (Blue RX 580: https://www.mindfactory.de/product_info.php/8GB-Sapphire-Radeon-RX-580-Nitro--Special-Edition-Aktiv-PCIe-3-0-x16--R_1180075.html)

rx 480 Upgraded to RX 480 4GB and I'm getting lower fps?!?
ElFiasco89 posted a topic in Graphics Cards
As title says, basically i upgraded my gpu from a R9 280X running at 1100/1500 to a nice new Sapphire RX 480 Nitro+ 4 GB at default clocks of 1303/1750 and i get lower fps with my new card, i've upped the power limit in msi afterburner to no improvement, im playing at exact same settings, High Quality Render and every thing else on maximum performance with no boxes ticked and im averaging around 170-190 fps where as with my R9 280X i had around 190-210 fps so im really confused by this, anyone have any tips or info on this situation? I've only tried with Rocket Leauge so far btw. Also my R9 280X used to get to about 71 Degrees c whilst playing but the RX 480 Hovers around 55 Degrees c, using similar GPU usage as the previous card, around 70% average. I upgraded my graphics card on the last update a couple of days ago but im unaware if there have been any major fps drops with that update yet. I DDU the drivers several times now, now trying 18.3.3 because that's what Fortnite prefers and still no change in Rocket League. Everything else is exactly as it was, just changed the graphics card. Also i can provide any logs of monitoring. - AMD FX 8350 @ 4.5Ghz (No turbo boost) - Sapphire RX 480 Nitro+ 4 GB - Gigabyte GA 990XA-UD3 - Corsair Vengance 16gb @ 1600Mhz - Corsair 550 80+ Bronze PSU - Intel SSD 520 Series 160 GB Update 1 I've just compared the GPU-Z info from the 2 card and the R9 280X has 2 higher values 'Bus Width' and 'Band Width' which are: R9 280x Bus = 384 Bit / Band = 297.6 GB/s RX 480 Bus = 256 Bit / Band = 224 GB/s Could this be a factor ? -
Hi guys, i have bought a Sapphire Nitro+ RX480 8GB in Oktober 2016 and it worked like a charm until 1 or 2 months ago when every game i start freezes after a couple of minutes and i get the alert message "Radeon Settings: Host Application has stopped working...". It first happened when i was still running win8.1 so i upgraded to win10 (complete clean install) to use the newest Adrenaline drivers. I tried using old drivers from march, july and the newest adrenaline drivers but nothing seems to fix the problem. I also get random artifacts and false/dead pixels from time to time and in firefox watching youtube videos causes the browser to eventually freeze or the video is like a 5 frame loop but the sound runs normal (happens mid-video and maybe but not 100% sure when the youtube advertisment is about to start or the ad-banner on the bottom shows up). As of now it happens in every video i watch. I tried Microsoft Edge and i didn't have any freezes but i also had random artifacts and false pixels. Since i have no option to test the graphics card in another system or to test my system with another card i hope anyone of you can help me. My main question is if anyone knows if it is my graphics card dying or maybe its my motherboard ?! I would also appreciate help if anyone had the same problems but used to fix them somehow. My system: Win10 64-bit CPU: AMD FX-6100 Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 rev. 1.1 BIOS: F8f RAM: 16GB GPU: SAPPHIRE NITRO+ RADEON RX 480 8G GDDR5 PCI-E DUAL HDMI / DVI-D / DUAL DP OC W/BP (UEFI) LITE Drivers: Adrenalin 17.12.2, GPU-BIOS: 113-2E3470U.X5W Power Supply: Corsair GS 700 Harddrives: Kingston HyperX SSD 120GB, WD Caviar 1TB, 2x WD Caviar 500GB Drivers and Windows Updates always up-to-date. The freezes/artifacting/false pixels and crashing of the radeon settings happens even though the CPU and GPU are not maxed out on load or getting too hot, so a crash due to high temps is not possible i think. Thanks in advance. Cheers Yves
