I need to buy a new laptop, my current is messed up with i5 5th gen, 8 GB RAM, GTX 940M, and a battery that is dead which means I need to always have my system on charger to run it. Now I wanted to get anAsus TUF A15 2021, with Ryzen 7 5000 series, RTX 3060, and 16 GB RAM, but that will take another month to be released. ow I have another option, Acer Nitro, with Ryzen 5 5600H, 16 GB RAM, GTX 1650. Is getting the Acer system a good option, and then upgrade the system down the line, in a few yrs? I only do light gaming and my line of profession needs photo and video editing. I have another option to get a RTX 3000 laptop but with i5 or i7 10th gen.

I recently bought my first ever laptop, Lenovo Legion 5i, 3 months ago and the dust has been building up on the back panel vents, we usually have excessive dust in India, and before it becomes too much I wanna know how to clean it as I have never owned a laptop before I don't know much about cleaning one. So can I blow or suck using laptop without opening the laptop back? Should I use a brush to brush off the dust? Does opening the back void warranty? Also, does changing parts like ram and ssd void warranty? (Slightly offtopic). If you can please share more details other than the questions I asked if you feel like I need to know. Thanks.

recently bought a new laptop online. I couldn't purchase it without windows . The first thing I plan on doing with it is doing a clean install of win 10 pro. I have done this many times on desktops, but very little experience with laptops. Are there any potential pitfalls to doing this? I'm most worried about possibly losing touchpad, keyboard, or worst of all display functionality. Are my concerns real or am I just being paranoid?

So, my old laptop is getting abit long in the tooth and the time has to come to take it out back of the barn and... be merciful. Which is a long way of saying I'm planning on buying a new laptop, the thing is though is that I'm not sure what to get. I don't need a desktop replacement or gaming beast, but I do have a pretty tight list of things I do want. Basically, I'm after a 2-in-1, or something in the style of the Surface Pro, it doesn't need to be too serious specced and ideally I want a price that is 500 to 600 ish (GBP) I saw a couple that seem along the right lines, a dell one https://www.dell.com/en-uk/shop/2-in-1-laptops/new-inspiron-14-5000-2-in-1/spd/inspiron-14-5491-2-in-1-laptop/cn51901 and a lenovo https://www.lenovo.com/gb/en/laptops/ideapad/ideapad-c-series/Lenovo-IdeaPad-C340-14API/p/88IPC301189 The lenovo seems to have more ram of the bat, although a google tells me that the intel processor is slightly better performing. I know that I can pop the back of the Dell and increase ram and storage, assume that the lennie is the same. Normally I'd head out to a store and have a poke and prod, but human malware has put a stop to that, basically this just a sanity check to make sure I haven't missed anything obvious. (PS. By total coincidence I have a HP pavilion laptop for sale)

I just bought a new Acer Aspire E5-575G with no OS and I'm looking forward to installing windows 7 if possible. My concern is that at the product support page of this laptop there are only Windows 10 drivers. Will these work correctly? If not is there a way to get Windows 7 drivers for that machine? I've seen some programs that claim to find the suitable drivers for your machine (Driver Booster and others) but I'm confused, are there even any Windows 7 drivers for this? Will similar Windows 7 drivers from older Acer laptops work? Or will I be forced to run Windows 10? Thanks in advance

hey guys, im getting a new laptop soon (MSI gt73vr 7rf) and i always hear that i should update the drivers from websites... i never did a fresh windows installation before, i always had a friend do it for me. and it's diffrent when you're updating existing drivers rather than downloading non existent ones... so im kinda lost on what i should do. should i just go to the motherboard's website and download the drivers and simply install them? or is there a process involved?? one more question. how can i check if drivers are outdated on a PC or Laptop? thank you so much for the help.

So I just bought this new gaming laptop, and right off the box it was ridiculously slow. Judging from the specs of this laptop, nothing about it should be causing the problem... except maybe the lack of RAM. At just 4gb, I knew I had to upgrade down the line, but I didn't expect the laptop to be this slow already. Specs: Asus FX553VE-DM158T Intel Core i7-7700HQ (Hyperthreading Enabled) 4gb DDR4 RAM Nvidia GTX 1050 TI 4GB 7200 rpm 1TB HDD (no SSD) Licensed Windows 10 Home 64-bit It hasn't been more than a week yet since buying it so I haven't done much with it yet but here's what I've done with it so far: - Finished the windows updates - Updated the Nvidia drivers and Geforce Experience - Installed Steam, Blizzard app, and Games - Installed Adobe editing apps - Uninstalled mcAfee software - Let all the other bloatware stay for now - Didn't mess with the settings further to prevent more problems During Gaming (plugged in to charger): - Games are buttery smooth, but suddenly drops in fps constantly, no matter what graphics settings are used - Online games drop fps more than offline games - (in Overwatch) setting the fps cap to "DIsplay-Based" makes the game smoother than when set to "Custom at 300 fps", but fps drops are still there - (off topic) The only settings I see in the Nvidia control panel are the 3D settings During normal use: - moving files around in windows explorer is fine - laptop slows down when i use multiple browser tabs (clearly from lack of RAM) - Transitioning between apps takes a while longer than it should be (like closing the browser then opening ms word to keep the number of active tasks at a minimum) The only reason I haven't immediately concluded that it's the lack of RAM that's causing all these is because I'm pretty sure a laptop of these specs should at least be able to perform normally with just 4GB of RAM (but I'm no expert so feel free to prove me wrong on that), and I'll try to disable hyperthreading to see if that helps.

So I've bought the Xps 13. I wanted to connect an external monitor but there aren't any HDMI or Display ports. So I was wondering if I could buy a USB C dongle or hub for all those needs. I was wondering if I can use USB C hubs and dongles in a thunderbolt 3 port (cause they use the same port). so TLDR : Can I use USB C Hubs in a Thunderbolt 3 port?

I need a new laptop for university. I'll be studying Media Production, so I need something that's fast, got long lasting battery, a decent amount of storage (i'll mostly be using external hard drive's but just in case), I just don't want to be spending an absolute bomb on it... I'm not spending more than £450 - £500 at the absolute most, but if there's anything cheaper but just as good then I'll prefer that one. I've tried looking but I can only find really expensive ones, does anybody have any recommendations?

My Dad got his current PC for CorelDraw in 2011 and it's high time for an upgrade because it still runs AMD processors from that time frame and I don't need to say why that's a bad idea. I want to get him a laptop with thunderbolt 3 so he can move between home and work and just plug into a hub and go exactly like what Linus did with his cleanest gaming setup a few months back (sans gaming). What's a good option and do I need a GPU for Corel? I know nothing about Corel so any help is appreciated.

I recently bought the new G5 from dell. Gaming performance is sweet but I ran into 2 issues and was wondering if the LTT community could help me Both are mildly annoying. First is that the screen starts to have lines run across it. Once in a while if I'm looking at a static screen with mainly text on the screen, I start seeing lines forming across my screen. This phenomenon intensifies when I run on battery. Ive had my screen start to have this happen and if I sometimes it just breaks. It freezes and this happens. The second problem is audio reverb. I was playing a game with some friend when suddenly I heard them enter a huge room and their voices started to echo a lot more than normal. I asked if they had moved and they hadn't changed anything. I thought nothing of it until I started listening to youtube videos with people talking. I thought the youtube I was watching changed his mic. but they didn't. I checked Nahimic and the Realtek audio drivers to see if for some reason I had anything applied but there was nothing. Something is adding some reverb to my audio output but I cant seem to find out what it is. It makes voice chats very difficult because of the echo and youtube videos sound really really weird. Was wondering if anyone's able to help me out with it =D

Hi All, I've Had my Dell XPS 15 9550 for around 3 and a half years, It has served me well, even after a battery recall, and some gaming and programming without looking too damn crazy and over the top. I'm now considering an upgrade to my laptop. Specs of my Current Dell XPS 15 9550 Core i7 6700HQ, 16GB 2133Mhz RAM, 512 GB Samsung NVME SSD, GTX960M, 4K IPS Touch Screen When I'm at home I got it hooked up to my Dell 4K 27 inch monitor, and a Dell D6000 Dock Station to have my Corsair K70 RGB (That I refuse to make it go seizure mode with RGB and have set it to white only) and other External Drives connect to my Laptop, cause the available ports on the XPS can run out real quick. I was somewhat annoyed when I saw that the XPS 15 7590 on the Dell Australia is loaded with a GTX1650, rather than the RTX Cards which is considerably far better than the Current GTX 960M in my laptop or a GTX1650 for that matter, and no extra ports... I speced it similarly to what I have currently it would set me back AUD$3.5K... for the OLED 4K Screen and AUD$3.6K... for the 4K IPS Touch Screen. More than enough to make me sit in the corner and cry myself to sleep... Anyway, Here's my General Prerequisites that I'm looking in a Laptop. i7 8th or 9th gen 16GB RAM 512GB NVME SSD 15inch - 16inch IPS screen with Silm bezels and no OLED cause I don't wanna have Burn in it needs to be thin, and powerful not over AUD$3K. aiming for the 2.5K to 2.75K range preferably While I'll miss having a 4K screen on a laptop, as it stands there are other better deals out there for laptops. Any suggestions is appreciated.

I am thinking of getting an x1 carbon 2019 version i7 8565u, 16 GB ram, 1080p screen with multi touch, and 512GB SSD. My main doubt about it the the battery life because they advertise 16 hours but the 6th gen (according to the LTT review) has only about 6-7 hours of screen time. I also want to know whether an external GPU is a bad idea or not for deep learning applications I would appreciate if anyone could give their opinions

My budget is 550$ or maximum 600$ but not a single dollar higher than that. Good battery life, at least 3 hours (while not gaming). Ram- 8 GB drr4 processor - i5 quad core or an good AMD core (i dont know much about AMD processors sorry) GPU - doesn't matter Hard drive - 1 TB ssd - if possible. screen size - 14 to 16 inch (i.e. like 15.6 inch doesn't matter if it's 16.00 inch)Weight - no preference.

So I'm looking into eventually buying myself a new laptop, but I'm not really sure which one I should get. I'm becoming a video editor, filmmaker, and all that jazz. And from my experience plus with what I was told, getting a MacBook Pro would be the way to go. However, I'm looking into other options in terms of a Windows machine. Plus see if I can save a few hundred dollars since I know the model i'm looking at in terms of the MacBook Pro costs pretty much $3000 USD. I also am a gamer if that is a factor that I should consider, but if I have to sacrifice gaming if I get a MacBook Pro, that’s okay with me.

Hello, I am starting collage etc this year and I am wanting to buy a new laptop, I am looking for something that can handle simple photo editing and video editing along with the ability to play some decent games fps etc. I am looking for a decent battery life as well something that can last about 10 hours if not 6-7 hours what might be pushing it, idk. I also don't mind if it is Intel or AMD, will prob be Intel tho' as they have way more on the market than AMD. This machine will solo be for collage tho' and doesn't need to be stupid, if you can find some good alternatives that would save me money please suggest. My budget is about £600 - £700 at most. Thank you.

Hello everyone. Not sure if this is in the right place? I am new here. I have purchased a ROG Zephyrus 1660 ti with the R7 3750H. I intended to use it for gaming and light graphic design in Fusion 360. If i leave the lapptop for 20 min doing nothing or have shut down a game ( Dead by daylight, Star Craft 2) and switched between a few diffrent things like Fusion 360 and Firefox the computer slows down significantly, so much so that Youtube videos dont even play smoothly and the audio does that weird eco buffering thing ( Im sure there is a technical term for it) restarting the computer seems to fix it. For a laptop with 24gb ram and 6gb graphics not to mention the processor. it sometimes feels slower than my old laptop running 4gb ram onboard graphics and a core 2 duo cpu. Any help would be appreciated. I have used videos on youtube and articles found online that suggest altering privacy setting and updating drives, all of which have little to no effect. Is this just the nature of the beast or have i messed soemthing up and if the latter how the hell do i fix it? Thank you all in advance.

Hi, I am interested in getting a laptop and I am confused for which one should I buy. I am starting to learn machine learning and data science and I want to know whether I need a good gpu or not. I am looking for a laptop which can do machine learning and data science within the range of £700 (863 USD) to £1000 (about 1200 USD). I prefer a lower price but can go up to £1000, I am not a gamer and do not want any gamer look to the laptop and want it to have a clean look. Can you help me? This needs to be available in the UK and I want it too last a few years.

new laptop trying to find the laptop for me
Freebird7 posted a topic in Laptops and Pre-Built Systems
hey guys, I am looking for a new laptop that will get me through college in 2 years and i have a pretty specific set of requirements. first though, I want to ask about resources. the biggest laptop data base i could find was on bestbuy but all my requirements were met with only one laptop. does anyone know of some other good websites to buy or even just find laptops? my budget is upwards of 1500 capped at 3000 but i dont think i need to spend that much to get what i'm looking for. generally i'm looking for something that will age well (wont be horribly outdated in a couple of years) and is fairly portable. I do love my video games, and lastly need it to have a decent battery life and portability. Here are the specs i am shooting for, feel free to criticize them if you think it necessary. Ports: Ethernet, HDMI, 3 USB 3.0, headphone jack, lightning port GPU: RTX 2060 or better with 6-8 gigs VRAM CUP: i honestly have no idea. the more money the better? RAM: 16-32 gigs. (prolly 16) display: 1080p 120-240 Hz (would it be a mistake to go for 4k? i know this would take up more battery and give slower fps and tax the GPU more) These are pretty much my minimum specs meaning that the laptop i would want to buy would probably have all this and a little more, not most of this I'm worried about making the wrong choice. is it reasonably possible for a name brand laptop to have major pitfalls in design? if anyone has any recommendations as to brands or models that are better please lmk. when i look for laptops everything sounds like the ultra super-duper all the time so i have no idea what is good and what is not. -
Hello, so 3 days ago i bought a new laptop (asus tuf fx504gd) with: gtx 1050, i5 8300h, 8gb of ram 2666mhz, 1tb sshd. So after installing Windows 10 pro 64bit i went to try out some games. When i tried to launch csgo it didnt launch at all, in LoL i was getting around 10 fps on the lowest graphics same with other games. Finally i found an issue: in games gpu usage is 0%. Do you know how to fix this problem? I have installed the most recent drivers. However in cinebench when i was doing gpu test gpu was functioning normally.
