Hello I have an Asus ROG gl764g that is not powering on, no leds light up when the charger is connected. No sound, light, etc when pressing the power button. Changing the battery did nothing. I began to measure the voltages because I suspect one of the mosfets to be faulty. On picture I wrote down the voltages in V and mV. I also checked for continuity (maybe shorts) to the ground and when present indicated it with blue color of the voltages, otherwise its green. I also found some schematics of a similar board and it should be the same. I need help diagnosing the exact faulty piece. Thanks

A few months ago (before zen 3) I upgraded my PC. Since then I have been experiencing issues, ranging from application error, after which a game or program closes, to straight up BSODs. After a lot of testing I RMAed my CPU and Mobo but the retailer told me there where no issues. After trying the parts again the issues continued. After doing some testing myself I have concluded that is must be an issue with mu CPU or Motherboard. Through process of elimination I discovered that these parts where not the issue. I also give the reason why I think they aren't the issue. - GPU: Works in different system with no problem. - HDDs and SSD: Also work in different system - Drivers: Updated them all and still have the issues - PSU: Works in a different system - RAM: Replaced with known working modules and issues persisted So my question is, Is there a way to find out if the CPU or Mobo is the issue without the use of other hardware? I do not have those available at the moment. If anyone is able to help me it would be a great help as I am at a complete loss as what to do. I have debated on just buying a new mobo or CPU but I am a student and if I buy the wrong part it's a lot of money to me. If there are any suggestions on other issues I could have overlooked on the other parts I would be happy to hear to. Good afternoon Canadians! Back in 2016, I built my first PC. I bent the pins on my motherboard (intel skylake socket, i5 6400) , it wouldn't detect the ram, so I bent them back in place and everything has worked ever since then. Everything still works now, but I'm getting nervous about the motherboard because I know it's the first thing that will break in my system and recently I've been working in software development and I dread the day where I lose my progress because my mobo just poops out. So I need a new MOBO. My new GPU (RX 580 8GB) is bottlenecked by my i5 6400 anyways so I might as well get a new processor. BUT... Money is an object. In these times, money does not come by easily. Does anyone have any budget recommendations? I'm Canadian, and I wouldn't want to spend over 350$ CAD (about 250$ USD). At this price point, is it worth it to replace CPU? Thanks a bunch.... - Crunchy

Hello everyone, I will post my build at the very bottom, DO NOT TELL ME TO GO AMD, I KNOW WHAT I WANT. I have picked a motherboard and I'm happy with what I will go on to build at dome point in the near future... (first time builder)... that said, is there an MSI motherboard that is Z390, AC WIFI (I don't have ethernet in my room, but wifi is easy as can be) but that has dual-bios? I'm not looking to spend above $300 nor get the best of the best. I also care about it's cooling and OC capabilities, as well as it's number of 4pin fan headers... I plan to use all PWM fan's as my cooling of choice. Please keep at ATX size. I'm afraid of power loss and brown outs which are rampant in Michigan due to wind, trees, flooding, snow, ice, etc... having Dual Bios will likely save me at least 2-3 times a year. I don't give a rat's ass about RGB. (The board should not give up fan headers for 3pin RGB headers is all...) Long story short: Looking for an MSI Z390 AC WIFI Motherboard **with dual-bios** and many 4pin FAN headers for PWM fans. It should be no larger then ATX form factor. OR MABYE MINE IS CAPABLE OF DUAL-BIOS AND I MISSED IT? Hi everyone! Im in search for a motherboard that will go perfectly with my Ryzen 9 3900X build. I took a look at the TUF Gaming X570-PLUS WIFI motherboard, but tbh I don’t know nothing about motherboards so I’m looking for the best fit. I’m looking to spend up to $250 on it (if necessary). This build will cover gaming, but will focus also on Pro Tools and Ableton Live. TUF Gaming Motherboard LINK!!!

Greetings, Im having a hard time picking a mobo for my build as of now I have two 2080 Ti (but im reeseling the second one because they sent me two instead of one). I want to build a gaming PC with Ryzen 9 3900 and preferably aircooled(Because I move a lot and liquid cooled sounds risky). In the end what would be the best mobo for around 600 USD for this situation. Thanks for the time!!

I never even considered this as an option until someone pointed it out to me. I have a brand new board (well, I bought it used but the original owner bought it new). I have been having intermittent trouble with the board resetting itself after the system is shut down, and now it is doing it without fail every single time. It lasted a week or so of being ok, and on installing a new GPU is where my issues started, i.e. after the PC was disconnected from the wall. On power up, the LEDs revert back to their default static red, and entering the BIOS says 'BIOS settings have been reset, press ok to continue.' After a Reddit user mentioned CMOS, I did have a look at the battery, and it looked... well, not new, put it that way. It is definitely a little scratched up and worn. Is it possible that a bad battery went into the board on its initial manufacture? At first I thought it was an unstable OC, but reverting to stock does nowt either! Can send any more info if needed, but I'm almost convinced (as odd as it sounds) that the CMOS battery is to blame.

Hi guys I am new to this so please help me I know that cards are backwards compatible but would like to know how it works and what would be the results if done so. Also if the card would be affected and if the card would be able to give its best performance if done so I currently own an Intel Desktop classic series motherboard DG33FB (ddr2) and a Nvidia Geforce 9500GT. I would also like to know if i could upgrade my graphics card and would appreciate any recommendations. Hoping to get the best possible response

I discovered recently that there's something wrong with 6 out of the 8 SATA ports on my motherboard (ASRock Z97 Extreme4), which happen to be the ones that use the Intel storage controller on the chipset. The two functional ones, (which happened to be the only ones I've used up until now, which is why I never knew about this) are on a separate ASMedia controller. Drives plugged into the Intel ports won't show up if I'm already booted into Windows and plug them in (yes the board supports SATA hotplugging and it's worked in the past). Furthermore, the system will freak out and BSOD on boot if there's anything plugged into these ports on startup, when the boot drive is plugged into a working ASMedia port. BSOD code is MACHINE CHECK EXCEPTION. The reason this came up is because I've always just had two HDDs in the system, but I finally bought a boot SSD, meaning I now have three SATA drives and two functional ports. I guess I could get an external USB to SATA enclosure type thing for one of the HDDs, but that's kind of a clumsy solution. Any recommendations for getting these SATA ports working correctly?

Hello, I just bought new PSU from Antec, it is Earthwatts 650W pro gold and something strange is happening. Since I replaced my old cooler master elite 500W PSU (works great but replaced because fan is making noise when shuting down PC and just in case I bought new PSU) I have constant coilwhine from my motheboard with new Antec PSU. It is really constant, when playing games or when PC is at idle or in BIOS, coilwhine is the same. I removed GPU to see is it gpu fault but noise is still there. PSU is very silent at all times, I even connect PSU outside of PC case to be sure in that and I'm 100 percent sure that sound is coming from motheboard. When connect old PSU sound is gone and all is OK. How is possible that I'm having coilwhine with only new PSU on motheboard ? Pc specs: I74790 Z97-k 16gb ram ddr3 Rx 470 Any tips? Thank you all in advance for help.

Pc not turning on and no sign of power through motherboard
Jeffvey posted a topic in Troubleshooting
Hi, I have had an aorus b450 pro wifi mobo for about 6 months with a ryzen 3 2200g, and have just went out to buy a 3600x and some g skill trident z memory. I knew that I needed to do a bios update but when I first got it I just put it in hoping it would work but it didn’t. After switching it with the ryzen 3 again, I downloaded the f32 bios update along with the EC FW update thing so that I wouldn’t have memory issues later on. After downloading the update, I downloaded the f40 update which is supposed to allow third generation ryzen chips to be compatible. After switching back to the the 3600x again, it first brought up a black screen with the text saying to insert boot media and restart or whatever so I tried restarting the pc, hoping it would work, and the most I got was the screen flickering to the aorus loading screen (shows bios, q-flash, etc), before flickering off. I thought there was still something messed up with the ram, so I tried reinstalling my old ram to see if it would work, but it still ended up doing the same thing. I eventually concluded that I was still missing some sort of update so I reinstalled the ryzen 3, and when I connected the power supply and flipped it on, the usual aorus falcon lit on for a moment, and off (normally happens) but when I powered on, nothing happened at all. Which leads me to this moment. sorry if this is littered with grammar errors or stupid things as I am not an avid pc enthusiast. thanks,-

Hey! I was using my computer just fine until yesterday when suddenly it turned off on it's own. I tried to turn it on back but the bios screen would flash and it would turn off again. Mind you, my fans and gpu are running just fine...it's not like the computer is off....Its not posting anything onto display.....Thats when I notice that two led on my motherboard are flashing : 'cpu' and 'dram' alternatively. Now its not even showing the BIOS screen I tried removing my ram and reinserting.....when that didn't help i cleared the cmos too but to no avail. I have no idea what happened suddenly. I bought a rtx 2070 for Christmas to use in my system to get better performance for my pc. Replacing my 1060 3gb was nice as my fps in Far cry 5 and Bf5 increased a lot but I saw that my i5 7400 was bottlenecking. I also only have 8gb of ram, so even running one tab of chrome drops me 20 fps or even more on specific games. My motherboard is msi b250 Bazooka, so i cant go past a i7 7700k and the motherboard only supports 2400 speed ram. I guess what i am asking is what would the upgrading path be? I currently have only 300$ and I don't know where to go from here for my pc. If I didn't explain well enough on what my situation is, then just ask. Thanks!
