So I looked at my computer performance in task manager and was surprised to see that it detects 16GB of ram(2x8GB ddr4 2666mHz) but uses less than half of it (7.9GB), the other part (8.1GB) is Hardware Reserved. It is the second computer I built from used parts. I tried to resolve my issue: I set a limit to how much memory windows can reserve (2GB), restarted and nothing happened, tried removing device drivers I no longer use, reset windows (keeping the files), reset BIOS, cleaned and reseated RAM sticks and still nothing changed... Can I try anything?

I recently took out 2 of my 4gb 3200 ram sticks out of my daily pc to put into another unit with a faulty ram problem. After running it on a different pc, i pulled both back out and installed it on my daily pc. When i try to boot it up it wont post, but after some intense cleaning it would only post with 3 sticks and cmos clearing. If it worked before, how come it wont work again? Cpu: ryzen 5 3600 Ram: 4x4gb 3200 Mobo: msi b450 tomahawk max Vga: zotac 1650 super All 4 ram sticks are from the same manufacturer with identical specifications

Hi, so I've recently bought a new GPU and after installing it, and reinstalling Windows (ye I used DDU but wanted to be sure it wasn't a problem with the driver, so I reinstalled) I noticed my GPU was crashing on AAA titles, so I installed MSI afterburner to check what was going on, and to my surprise, as I was idling (in the images below) the clock and mem were spiking, I've never really seen this before, so that's why I'm asking. I had a Corsair CS750m but It was 10 years old so I bought a new PSU to stop the crashing and that fixed that, but now I'm curious about the memory, if it's normal for it to do this while I'm not doing anything? tl:dr; the first image is when (the one with the line at like 60% is during some light gaming, which to me this looks strange af to spike up and down). Should I return the card and by another one?

Hey guys, I’m upgrading from 256 gigs to installing 8x128GB 3200 MHz ram into my Asus WRX80E Sage and for some reason 7x128 posts but installing the eighth causes the motherboard to cycle codes, I’ve seen C2, 66, 44, 01, dE, etc. it doesn’t matter the stick or the slot, as long as 7/8 are installed it works. I’ve removed all my GPUs say for one output and I’m thinking maybe the motherboard is still trying to recognize all 8 slots so right now I’m waiting for something to happen. The VGA light is on right now…

I have been getting a lot of OOM errors, and I cannot for the life of me figure out the issue Just now before posting this, I had it happen again, but noticed memory usage was only 62%, applications open were Garry's Mod (+SRCDS Server), Visual Studio (In Debug at the time), Visual Studio Code, Discord and some other smaller stuff running in the background like file explorer, steam and ShareX and Opera One It happens a lot when I am not programming or in debug mode so I feel that is unrelated, it can sometimes happen when just playing a game without anything much else open Sometimes it feels like 1 application has a freak out and triggers a chain reaction of other applications Whenever this happens, all 3 monitors do go completely black, with one of them sometimes showing a white window outline, I don't know how to describe it any better This is a link to my parts https://pcpartpicker.com/user/callumokane/saved/#view=RfkFP6 Any help is appreciated!

Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows the thermal pad thickness for the reference rx 6700xt. I recently changed the themal paste and torn a few pads, replaced all of them with 1mm thick pads but the results are not very satisfying. Paste used was arctic mx6, pads some Arctic 1mm pads.

JesusTouchMe posted a topic in Troubleshooting
It's exactly what the title says. I have Ryzen 5 7500f and 32gb (2x16) of ddr5 Kingston Fury I've tried: One ram stick and no ram stick Popping out the cmos battery, waiting 10 minutes before putting it back in Flashing bios Checking bent pins, even sent a macro picture to a friend and still nothing Letting it just run for 15 minutes Reseating the cpu and cooler None of these have worked for me. Any help would be appreciated- 3 replies

Hi all, Which of memory speed would be best to pair with my MSi Tomahawk Max motherboard? I'm getting confused by MSi's website saying stating: 1DPC 1R Max speed up to 7800+ MHz 1DPC 2R Max speed up to 6600+ MHz 2DPC 1R Max speed up to 6400+ MHz 2DPC 2R Max speed up to 5600+ MHz I want to fill all 4 slots in the motherboard, and I was going to purchase 2 of the following (for a total of 64GB RAM): CORSAIR VENGEANCE DDR5 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 7200MHz CL34 Intel XMP iCUE Compatible Computer Memory - Black (CMK32GX5M2X7200C34) Although based on the dot points from MSi's website, by having all 4 slots filled am I even going to get 7200Mhz? Or should I simply buy something cheaper? Thanks in advance everyone!

Hey Guys, Thank you for reading - I need some help in identifying the best way to connect a older 6GB HDD. Context: This is a HDD from an old iRiver recorder that has stopped turning on. I've taken the HDD out and looking to connect to windows, and fingers crossed, it pops up like a removable HDD. It currently uses a flat flex ribbon cable, ATA-33 connector, however I'm struggling to find an adapter that would allow me to plug this into either a USB port, SATA, or even simply copy the data to flash storage. I've found something similar (Converter) for Toshiba drives, but am struggling for this drive. I've contacted seagate's tech support who suggested I many need to daisy chain adapters, but did not give any further details on the type of adapters required. I've added some pictures, any advice or guidance here? Model: ST650211FX Connector: ATA-33 More information: https://testhdd.com/Seagate-ST1-Series-ST650211FX-hard-drive-5-GB-ATA-33-17.html

I am planning to use the Asus ROG STRIX Z790-E GAMING WIFI II for my new build with a i9-14900k. The plan is to use a Corsair Dominator Titanium 2 x 48GB 6600MT/s CL32 kit. (https://www.corsair.com/us/en/p/memory/cmp96gx5m2b6600c32/dominator-titanium-rgb-2x48gb-ddr5-dram-6600mt-s-cl32-intel-xmp-memory-kit-cmp96gx5m2b6600c32) Now; this specific kit is not shown on the compatibility list (https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-z790-e-gaming-wifi-ii/helpdesk_qvl_memory/) (Make sure it's on 14th gen.) All though the RAM does in theory fit within the motherboard specs for speed and size. I have doubts on how up-to-date/complete the compatibility list is. Based on the list there is only one supported set that can fill the claimed 192GB capacity. On the other hand: The Intel website also only claims "Up to DDR5 5600 MT/s" for the CPU, whilst it obviously can handle much more. So; would it be a safe bet to get this set of RAM in this build?

my computer has had a multidue if problems and i have no clue what to do so im turning here. The problems are as follows, showing i have 2 tb of storage but im only able to use under half without it giving me storage errors, and my 3090 has extreme frame drops with games it should easily run without it over heating . I have tried all the well known solutions like re-formatng the drive and updating the drivers for the gpu. there are some other problems but those are not as important as the storage and gpu. i am looking for any help please!

i just recently upgraded my pc and got a ryzen 7800x3d and 32 gb of ddr 5 , in my older system i had 32 gbs as well but it was ddr4 long story short i got hit with odd stutters randomly while i was watching youtube 720 p , checked task manager to find that i got 88% ram usage but after carefully looking it didnot add up restarted pc and its the same for example armory crate uses 247.3 mb of ram , which is also 1.9 % of my ram ? 247.3 /1.9= 130,158 130,158 x100= 13,015 , that is less than 13 gb in total yet the system shows that there is 32 gb of ram in it i got no idea

Hey, am I leaving a lot of performance on the table with 2666 memory on my setup of 12400f and 3070. Gaming on 1440p ultrawide. Thinking of getting 2x8 3200mhz if I would get some good performance increase

Hey! Soooo long story short. I have a zephyrus gaming laptop (it's been amazing) I play Fortnite often at mid settings and DX12, and it's been all good 120fps for like 8 months, but now I'll randomly get a crash saying I've run out of GPU memory and I'll check armory crate and it'll be MAXXED out randomly. But it games for hours and hours before that just fine, not at 100% usage and with no issues? Any idea if this is a Fortnite thing or driver issue? I'm fully up to date on updates, thank you!

I am planning a new build for deep learning / AI workloads. I need a stable system with >80 GB of memory. After some research I found these 3 options: 1. 2 x 48 GB ddr5 6000 mhz, C30 2. 4 x 32 GB ddr5 4800 mhz, C30 (can this be any faster like 5200 / 5600) 3. 4 x 32 GB ddr4 3600 mhz, C16 Which of the above memory options would offer me the highest bandwidth to work with are be stable at the same time? I want to set the XMP / EXPO profiles once and let it be. No OC, no tinkering with timings. It would be best if someone could tell me the effective memory bandwidth for all the 3 options above. Does having 4 sticks (quad channel?) mean double effective bandwidth? Does Intel have any advantage over AMD? I am looking at 7800x3d or 5800x3d or 13600K. I listed the 3rd option (ddr4) above because I am already running a 5600x + ROG strix x570e mobo + 2 x 16 GB 3000mhz Crucial. So upgrading to 5800x3d and new memory is the cheapest option for me. Also the RAM timings are quite better with ddr4 vs ddr5 and I wont be getting >6000 ddr5 speeds anyway with such a high capacity requirement. But if the bandwidth gains are high then I am willing to spend for a new AM5 / Intel platform.

I have the aforementioned motherboard with a ryzen 9 7950x and 32GB of kingston hyperx fury ram KF560C36BBEAK2-32 (SK Hynix M die). I bought this memory kit, because at the time it was the cheapest M die kit with 6000 MT/s EXPO support. It did work fine with the most agressive expo enabled until I have updated my bios to the most recent (1813). After that I ran into constant bluescreen and while trying to figure out what have happened I found out that not only EXPO did not work, if I installed both stick of ram in any configuration and ran memtest I got a ton of errors in the Address test section and Moving Inversions section of memtest. I have tried running memtest with only 1 stick of ram and both dimms worked fine, even with EXPO enabled. I was running bios version 1636 before that (I know I am bit late on updating) and it worked fine with DDR5-6000. Now I have flashed back the bios to the same version (which was a chore since the EZ-flash utility says it is incompatible to any bios before 1809, so I had to use bios flashback and it takes much longer), but know ddr5-6000 spits out errors on this bios version as well. Do you guys have any idea, other than manually overclocking the ram (which is fine by me, but I would rather use EXPO if I can)? To you any of you Asus reps, who reads it: Do you have any idea if and when there will be a fix to bios version 1813, since it literally rendered my system unusable with 2 stick of ram (I got like 5 BSODs under 2 hours and corrupted my windows install). Thank you for reading this! Best of luck with EXPO, Zsoombee

So currently I have 16GB 2x8gb 1600mhz SK Hynix HMA81GU6DJR8N-XN sticks in my desktop installed and they have been there ever since I bought this OEM (yes ik but I am too lazy to build a rig right now). For some time now I have felt and seen that the current RAM I have is not sufficient for the way I am using this PC and I have been thinking of upgrading to 32GB RAM. So now I don't know which type or what manufacturer to choose but I did find the Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200MHz 32GB and tbh idk if I should go for these sticks or not This is the specs right now Otherwise idk I have been playing lots of VR so that's one of the reasons I wanted to upgrade the RAM since 1600MHz is a low number and 16GB isn't cutting it for me now in general

I found these 2 options on PCP: Corsair Vengeance RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL36 Memory and Corsair Vengeance 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6400 CL32 Memory so just out curiosity how much differences is there in performance? Is it even noticeable at that speed? Some background: the build is aimed at gaming and machine learning so more memory/better memory would be nice I guess. That is also why the GPU is missing because of the recent price spike. Buying RAM for Gigabyte GA-H170-Gaming 3
doyojo6231 posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I have the motherboard listed in the title: Gigabyte GA-H170-Gaming 3. I want to buy RAM for it, so I wanted to ask which would be better of the following, and why: 8GB (1x8GB) DDR4 3600MT/s CL17 FURY Beast Black XMP Non-ECC Unbuffered DIMM (Single Module) 1RX8 17-21-21 1.35V 288-pin 8Gbit Spec Sheet OR 8GB (1x8GB) DDR4 3200MT/s CL16 FURY Beast Black XMP Non-ECC Unbuffered DIMM (Single Module) 1RX8 16-18-18 1.35V 288-pin 8Gbit Spec Sheet I want the total to be 16GBs so I'll buy two of the better one. Thank you all. -
Hello everyone. I recently bought all the parts for my AMD build, and when I checked my RAM kit I realised that it was only XMP certified. Kit used: 2x16 G.Skill Ripjaws S5 -5600MT-CL28-DDR5 Mobo + CPU: MSI Mag B650 Tomahawk Wifi. + R5 7600x Can I still use this kit to its "fullest potential?" Or do I really need to get EXPO certified ones instead? :') Thanks
