imagine the situation of a gaming lounge, where everyone is accessing the same game from the NAS, is it possible ?

I want to start using a password manager so I can diversify my passwords more without forgetting them all... I would prefer to not have to use a cloud based program, but I do need them synced across two windows 10 systems and my android phone. I have a linux server and a vpn set up, so ideally I'd want something that could store passwords in an encrypted vault on my linux server and allow authenticated devices on the local network (or over the vpn) to access it. I've looked through some password managers, and some have really nice features, but I haven't seen one yet that allows a custom server for storing the database. Does one exist or am I going to have to make it? edit: this might belong in apps/programs instead of general discussion, oops

Hi, I'm just asking a question, not for myself but someone else who is working in this kind of department. He was just wondering what kind of IP address and subnet mask that a local network, capable of hosting 600 devices would have. I've gone on the internet but I can't find anything too specific to the question. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi guys, #context/setup 1 Laptop (Asus ROG G752VM) and 1 Desktop connected to a WD MyNet750 router set up in AP and drawing internet from the main home router. all connections are ethernet. and 1 SSD currently connected to the router via USB # I have a networking problem that is driving me bonkers. My laptop has trouble connecting to my network devices. For example: 1- when I go on my windows explorer and click on "Network" to browse the devices connected there, it often fails to load and I don't get a result. 2- I have storage connected to my router via USB that I am not able to access from my laptop. I can access it fine from my other desktop computer which is also a windows 10. 3- When I use any software and I want to access my local home network storage, nothing loads under "Network" just as it often fails to load when I click on "Network" on windows explorer. My objective: To be able to use my desktop computer as network storage that is fully and easily accessible by my laptop (which i use exclusively now). Including access with the software in my laptop. I'm open to suggestions and changing set up. Pleeeease please please help ?

I have a VPN tunnel set up so I can access my home network from anywhere else. Simple setup through PFsense. I have 4 devices (Proxmox server, FreeNAS, Plex, Nextcloud) that I need to reach through the VPN. All of their IPs are static and saved by the DHCP server on PFsense. 3 of them I can reach no problem through the tunnel, but I cannot ping, ssh, or access the WebUI for Proxmox. All of them are in the same IP range 192.168.0.0/24, and the tunnel connects to this same address range. Things I have tried: Changing the IP (was originally 0.3, changed to 0.103 and 0.203 with no luck) wireshark pcap said network traffic (No useable data as it's encrypted in the VPN) recreating the VPN over a different port (no change) Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? I'm happy to take any assistance or ideas you may have.

So i uploaded a post here a while ago about ftp servers and got a reply saying i should use an sftp server instead. so i did! works perfectly on lan using a software called AnyClient and the server software is JSCAPE MFT Server. Basically i want to be able to access this server outside of the public lan, mainly for a friend and i who film together to share files. I know this could be done via simple ftp as nobody should be seeing my ip and its NOT static, but i just want to make this work and expand my workflow with other people. Ive tried connecting to it using my external ip but no luck. my port 22 was closed which i used a port checker to confirm, i opened this port using windows firewall and enabled port forwarding to this port with TCp/UDP. I have the private key and password set up to work on the lan, it is two-factor authentication enabled. So I have 2 windows 10 pc and one 2008 Mac Pro. I have my laptop connected to the Mac Pro via Ethernet so I can use the Mac as a server and the Mac has two Ethernet ports but when I connect the sff desktop (dell optiplex 960) it won’t find the Mac at all on the network tab but it works fine on my laptop

Intro: I work a kiosk with no WiFi in range. It's boring. I setup a Netgear router with a USB HDD full of my movies to watch. It's using Netgear's built in Ready Share function. VLC seems the best option to stream with. And it works - as long as I turn off the mobile data on my phone. With data on, VLC sees the network, but can't see the ready Share folder. Since the router's WiFi has no internet behind it, Android defaults back to cellular for it's DHCP & I think this is the core off my problem. Anyone know s seeing with Android or Netgear where I can stream from the local (non-internet) WiFi, while still maintaining a cellular data connection?

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this post, and if it isn't a mod can move it ig. Anyway, I've got a Rust server running on some server gear at my house. My friends have no latency whatsoever, but I get big ping spikes and spurts of rubberbanding(moving back and forth as if the camera was attached to a rubber band while being stretched out). I've observed that my ping with jump from 1 to over 500 on occasion. However the rubberbanding doesn't seem to occur when the ping goes up. It seems to be independent of the ping. Does anyone have any theories as to why/what could be the problem? I've verified my game files, and retried connecting etc. Server hardware: 2 x Opteron 2389 Quadcores at 2.9GHz, 32GB ECC DDR2 667MHz, Dual Gigabit NICs, and it's running Windows 7 Pro. The server isn't being overloaded by the Rust server(CPU usage is less that 10% and memory is ~6GB. Also the rubberbanding is only affecting me, not other people on the server. It's also not my PC, The rubberbanding only occurs on my server. My Internet also is unlikely the culprit because I've had the server running on our network while on I played on other servers and I didn't experience this lag. I get 50Mbp/s Down and 5Mbp/s Up.

(Forgive me if I sound uneducated, this is my first post on a form...) I have a question and it comes from a dilemma I have. Can you run a virtual machine on a host computer and access it from a different computer through local network, while still having the OS on the host computer active at the same time? Would it be possible to have both the virtual machine and the host computer's OS run off the same partition on a single hard drive? If the latter is false, can the Virtual Machine's OS run off a bootable flash drive? The reason why I want to do this is because me and my brother want to play a game at the same time together over LAN, however we have one computer that cannot run the game higher than about 10 fps, and another (that I built ) that runs the game like a piece of cake with only about 40% CPU usage (the game is much more CPU heavy then GPU). So my idea is to use a virtual machine on the fast computer to run an OS that the slow computer can access. However, I am wondering if this is possible (or if there is an easier way) to do this. Now, about my question with running on the same partition on the hard drive. While researching on the topic of virtual machines, I think it isn't possible to do that; but I am wondering if it is because I also don't think it would be possible (or if it is, fast by any means) to run the virtual machine off the hard drive of one computer, be running on another, and then coming back for display output as well as keyboard and mouse input on the computer that has the hard drive... However, I do have a bootable Ubuntu flash drive (a flash drive that has Ubuntu on it that is a bootable drive) and I know that the game is compatible with Ubuntu, so I could run a virtual machine on said flash drive if it recognises that the USB drive is bootable. Just two other bits of information, the normal OS for both the slow and fast computers is windows 7 (except the fast one has the pro version and the other is home premium). And I would like to do this for free... so would something like VirtualBox work? (VirtualBox is free, right?) Thanks
