Hello everyone I’m new to this forum and i know that what I’m about to say is a bit old and everything but this is very important to me because i want all my saved OS/Data as save as they can be so I’ve had my LGA 775 PC running for awhile just fine and i recently decided to upgrade it so it could be a better temporary solution until i get a gaming build and an actual modern powerful PC so i started with the RAM it’s DDR2 but it only had 2GB so i bought unbuffered RAM 2x4 RAM sticks for a total of 8GB it worked fine but then all the troubles start from the CPU upgrade unfortunately I didn’t take precautions when it came to this but anyways i bought a Modded Xeon E5450 didn’t do any bios updates or anything but it already had the sticker adapter to convert 771 socket into 775, I installed it and replaced thermal paste everything was correct but afterwards my PC just started spinning with no display then I thought to myself okay it won’t work with my board so I’ll put back the old dual core CPU in, just when i did that my PC starts for 3 seconds then shuts off never posts and keeps going like that for a loop my PC is a DC 7800p Convertible Minitower the weird part is i tried almost everything including resetting the CMOS, replacing the battery with a new one, RAM is already new and known to be working also my motherboard light turns on all fans spin, error peep codes can sometimes trigger, Power supply works as well all of this tells me that my motherboard is in fact working so why isn’t it posting? I even bought a Quad Q9300 processor which also does the same thing the only difference is when i put the Unsupported Xeon back my PC stays on but with no beep codes or display now the question is what can i do to finally get it back to work on an original LGA 775 CPU?? im lost for ideas kindly someone help thanks!

Hello everyone i got a really interesting question and i hope someone helps regarding this so i have an hp dc7800p PC with an LGA 775 Q35 chipset on it but im having some motherboard issues and cannot post the good news is that probably my RAM/CPU/GPU are all working but the most important part for me is the hard drive it is working and in okay condition last time i used my PC but i need all the data + OS on it so the real question here is can i put everything all back together with the same case on a new motherboard with the identical old one ( ig LGA 775 ) then boot into my old drive with everything saved? I wouldn’t mind 10% of issues but i need at least 90% of the windows 10 to operate properly do not tell me to copy data over and install a fresh windows as that’s completely useless and not the point of what I’m trying to ask/do side note: it also has a patched theme and many programs installed i need it all regardless someone help and let me know as soon as possible as I’m considering this as a best solution for a faulty motherboard also this only happened recently due to a long story that i don’t need to bring up also my power supply is in working condition at 325w max thanks!

What is the best and fastest cpu for the lga. 775/ 771 socket? I want to make a htpc / emulator build and I would like to have a Decent amount of cpu performance for pcsx2/ dolphin. Overclockable would be nice.

Is there a way to mount a stock LGA 1136 heatsink to a LGA 775 board? I have a spare LGA 1366 heatsink lying around that i want to use it in my HTPC as it is on the whole time. Thank you.

Hello and welcome to my guide for performing the BSEL mod on your LGA 775 CPU. In this guide, I will focus on the easiest BSEL mod, the tape mod for 1066 MHz FSB CPUs. Disclaimer: Overclocking is never a guarantee, and it does not always work, for example, my Q6700 was not stable after I had performed the BSEL mod in my Dell OptiPlex 755. A mod like this will most likely void your warranty, but this is LGA 775 we are talking about, so you probably don’t have that anyway. I am not responsible for any damage to you/your equipment, proceed at your own risk. A quick word on LGA 775 overclocking With LGA 775 CPUs, we overclock by increasing the Front Side Bus (FSB). The front side bus is quad pumped; therefore, a 266 MHz is 1066 MHz effective. The frequency of a LGA 775 CPU is determined by its FSB speed multiplied by its multiplier. FSB x Multiplier = Clock Speed Example (Core 2 Duo E6600/Core 2 Quad Q6600): 266.66 MHz x 9 = 2400 MHz For more details on LGA 775 overclocking, see this great guide by @harrynowl: With the BSEL mod, we can raise the FSB of a 1066MHz CPU to 1333MHz, resulting in a 25% increase in clock speed. Example (Core 2 Duo E6600/Core 2 Quad Q6600): Before: 266.66 MHz x 9 = 2400 MHz After: 333.33 MHz x 9 = 3000 MHz All we need to do this is a tiny piece of tape! Simply place a piece of tape above this pin on your 1066 FSB LGA 775 CPU: Steps for how to perform the mod can be found at 0:38 in my video. Materials needed (not really, but i reccomend having all this to make things easy): Tape Scissors 1066MHz FSB CPU Something pointy Tweezers Patience If you want to see benchmarks for the performance gains, see 1:20 in the video. Specs of the benchmarking rig: MSI GTX 770 Gaming OC ASUS P5Q Deluxe (P45) 8GB (4x2GB) DDR2 800MHz CL6 Kingston UV400 240GB (OS) Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 750GB (Games) Corsair TX750 (750W) Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Got my lan rig together for MC n some other not overly demanding games running: Base: A complete Dell E520 i bought for $20 (AUD) Upgrades: A Q6660 (free) 80+ bronze 400w psu (got in exchange for building a friends pc) 6gb of ddr2 @ 800mhz (already had it) 1tb WD blue @7200rom ($65 new) so all up cost me $85 for this awesome little Dell that's nice n strong being a steel case which is great for LAN parties but now i need a GPU for it and the only one i have that will fit is a GTX 550ti and its awful. I was looking at a used Gainward GTX 650 for $40 (AUD) as it needs to be a short GPU since being a BTX case a long GPU cooler will hit the big ol dell copper heatsink (used to have a pentium D in it) but if anyone has any suggestions for older gpu's that are a max of 16cm ish in cooler length (the pcb can be longer since it will clear like my watercooled GTX 480 used to but that's another story. anyway old GPU's short relativily cheap these days give me some ideas. cheers guys

I'll start saying that my english is quite bad, but anyway. Hi guys, I usually know my way around PC hardware in general to solve my problems, but now i'm kinda confused by something, and cant really find a Mobo for my needs, so I came here asking if you could help with the following: - Suggest me a LGA 775 DDR3 Mobo for my modded X5460 (The legendary budget CPU) - I'm confused about FSB at the moment, why does the CPU and the Mobo have FSB clocks? If the CPU FSB is higher, it won't work? What if they are the same? The processor can't overclock? So, i'm quite lost trying to take a decision. I'm "upgrading" my PC and I'll leave my current build down below: (Remember, this is a budget build) - 430W C3 Tech (It's actually good) - G31T-M7 7.0 (DDR2 LGA 775) - Xeon X5460 3,16Ghz (I pretend to overclock it on a new Motherboard) - Galax GTX 1060 3Gb - 1x 2Gb DDR2 RAM / 1x 1Gb DDR2 RAM (Here's my the reason to change Mobo, can't find 4Gb sticks for Intel systems, só i thought it would be a good ideia to "upgrade" to DDR3, since RAM capacity is starting to be a problem) If you read all this way, i'm already thankfull for your attention. So at the moment I don't know what is my CPU because it's all covered with stock thermal paste from 2009. I was just a little boy that don't know anything about computers, just turn on and play. I don't have the CPU in my hand yet so I guess I can do "the title". Also I want to ask if Core 2 Duo or Pentium 4 can handle the power of GTX 970, thank you everyone

Hi everyone! So i gather up some LGA 775 Computers and i think these computers can be inspirational for budget builders. Yeah i know there is some bottlenecks going on with them but what are your thoughts on these computers? The actual reason i searched this is i need inspiration to upgrade my old LGA 775 PC and is this the best way to maximize it? here it goes! Compilations of LGA 775 PC that rocks the stage: 1. Q6600 + GTX 980Ti by bh97 2. Q6600 + GTX 970 by Crowmanic 3. Q9550 + GTX 970 by RedCorsair 4. Q6700 + GTX 1060 6GB by BubbleHugger 5. Q9650 + GTX 980 by MSined

Hello guys, This is my current setup : CPU : core 2 quad q9450 2.66 Ghz (stock) Mobo : Asus P5K (https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P5K/) GPU : Zotac GTX 960 AMP / GT 220 (no idea what is the manufacture) I found this "No display" issue during booting process when using these hardware pieces. I'm suspecting it's due to old bios version, but i cant access the bios menu due to no display issue. Any advice? Should i try to purchase older gpu just to troubleshoot this issue? note : - The cpu still run perfectly on other lga 775 board like asrock g31m-s - The gpus also run perfectly on other lga 775 board like asrock g31m-s - My PSU is Seasonic M12II-620 evo, pretty sure the PSU has enough power for this setup.

If i buy an external sound card, and plug into PCIE Slot ( if thats the right place to plug in ). Will i able to use Speaker ( speaker does not have any ports to plug in mic+sound) from Sound Card Ports and Headphones from motherboard audio ports? Motherboard is LGA 775 - Asus P5K-Premium.

im new to pc building, i managed to build my setup at around $100. i want to overclock my cpu, its a core 2 quad q8400 paired with asrock g41c-gs and 8gb ddr3 1333 ram. there is no core voltage option in my mb only fsb speed and pcie . without understanding what i did i just incrementally increased the fsb until i got 360 and 105 on the pcie ,i got 2.87 ghz . is there anyway to increase this? if i change the pcie back to 100 the screen is just black, and if i even increase the fsb by 1 point the same happens. in the bios however it did state that before you use ddr3 memory pls use the jumper settings 2-3 instead of 1-2. and i i did that, only what happened is that my cpu benches got halved, and in task manager only read 2.66ghz the stock speed, but in cpu z read 2.88. is there anything im missing here? i mean the cpu is 1333 fsb and my ram is 1333, and if there would be any difference in overclocking if the jumper setting was placed on 2-3?. i also get a flash on my screen on boot that cmos settings wrong when i place the jumper. any input, pls. i dont have access to ebay or amazon as im in asia so i cant order specific things.

Hi! I've had some fun lately with lga 775 chips (1.5 vcore kind of fun). Why dual core cpus have E in their name? Q obviously stands for quad but what stands for E?

First, would the xeon work in this mobo asus p5ql-e (with 771 to 775 mod) also what is the best xeon I could put in it, instead of Q9650 that I was going to do before I found out about the 771 to 775 mod.

Hello everyone, I'm currently building a bit of a Frankenstein of a computer that currently has the following specs: The goal of this PC is to run Adobe Illustrator and be able to do some light gaming, like for example fornite at 1080p low/med. The mobo and ram were given to me for free while I got the Xeon for 5€. These are pretty dated, but (at least the xeon) good parts for their time so I only invested in things that aren't mobo dependent. Now I see 4 routes I can take here: 1) I am limited to 4 gb ram. I have more DDR2 ram but there are no more than 2 DIMM slots in this mobo. I could probably get a deal on a good 4 dimm motherboard for about 30€ and sell the one I have right now for about 20€. 2) Get a DDR3 + 775 mobo + ddr3 memory. This one would be more expensive but I could see it as getting parts that could be reused more easily later down the line. With either 1 or 2 I would need to overclock the CPU a lot to get passable performance I think but right now I can not overclock or rather when I do, for some reason my benchmarks get worse/stay the same and only CPUz and the mobo pick up on the OC. I'm thinking this is either a) mobos fault (which 1 or 2 would solve) or b) because the GPU is power hungry. If I slap in an old old HD 4670 and boot the thing up I can overclock it to 3,6 without a problem and get better Cinebench results. So this leads me to the following: 3) Sell the 7870 and replace it with something with a lower TDP like 750TI (or if you have any other suggestions please post them cause i can't find a good lower TDP GPU I could get on the used market). 4) Get a new mobo/cpu/ram combo. This would mean moving onto DDR3 teriotry so buying new ram. Now if I'm going with this option I'm probablly not willing to spend more tahn say 50-70€ so I am very limited. If you guys know any good deals from aliexpress with free shipping please link em below but right now I'm basically looking at buying this thing: http://www.bolha.com/racunalnistvo/strezniki/hp-proliant-ml110-g6-xeon-x3430-2-4-ghz-4-gb-160-gb-1332298956.html?aclct=1519150841 and using the CPU/Mobo/Ram from it. The CPU does not seem to be that much faster tho so I am doubting if it would even be worth it (http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Xeon-X3430-vs-Intel-Xeon-E5450/m5225vsm5890). Any ideas as to what to do with my frankenstein would be much appreciated!
