Which fans should I use for my kraken x61 the stock ones or corsair ml140?? As an exhaust on top? will there be any improvement in cooling the CPU?

Hi guys, After some help in the builds section I decided on my config which is as follows : PCPartPicker part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/KFNL4C CPU: Intel Core i7-6800K 3.4GHz 6-Core Processor ($379.99 @ Newegg) CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X61 106.1 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($114.99 @ B&H) Motherboard: Asus X99-DELUXE II ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard ($393.99 @ SuperBiiz) Memory: G.Skill TridentZ Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($244.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Samsung 950 PRO 512GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive ($312.99 @ SuperBiiz) Storage: Sandisk Ultra II 960GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($239.00 @ Newegg) Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 1TB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($314.90 @ B&H) Storage: Toshiba X300 5TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($149.99 @ B&H) Storage: Toshiba X300 5TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($149.99 @ B&H) Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 1080 8GB SeaHawk X Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro ATX Full Tower Case ($80.99 @ NCIX US) Power Supply: Corsair 1000W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($180.55 @ B&H) Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit ($83.89 @ OutletPC) Total: $3371.24 This system is for video editing. Heavy video editing. Now, I picked up a Phantex Enthoo Pro CPU and ordered it from Amazon. But they sent me the non windowed version instead of the window one which I ordered. Now I am getting a refund on it. But this situation has given me an option to review my case choice. Right now, I have got all the other parts, but no CPU to fit in them. Frustrating. Kindly suggest to me a case which I can comfortably (without modding, etc.) mount the Kraken X61 as well as the MSI seahawk x radiator. Thank you. DJ

I have a Kraken x61 hooked up to my R9 280X using a Kraken G12, and the thing just isn't cooling. I followed the instructions all the way through (Even though the Kraken cooler doesn't fit particularly well with the bracket, ironically), including using a copper shim on R9 280X cards (I have a 1mm unit on). I have liquid metal between the GPU die and shim, and between the shim and cooler (As I had on the air cooler before this). I used to have it overclocked to 1175MHz/1500MHz with +38mV on the air, and it handled that just fine (Never went above 70 degrees on Unigine's Heaven Benchmark). Now if I boot the benchmark the GPU will hit 90 degrees within two seconds of starting. I've tried taking the shim out (Put it back in after it made no difference), I've tried reseating everything, I've lowered the overclock down, I've tried reapplying the liquid metal... Nothing seems to work. Always, it instantly heats up to 90 degrees when loaded, and falls back down extremely quickly after (Within seconds of quitting the benchmark, it'll be at 50 degrees; If I wait about ten seconds after than, it'll fall back down to the low 40s). I'm hoping has some sort of "eureka" idea, because it's incredibly frustrated having my GPU be basically worthless right now.

Hi everybody, i switched cases a while back from a NZXT Phantom to a P400s tempered glass edition. I since got a new cooling for my i5 4670K, namely the Kraken x61. However I am not sure the temps are right.. My CPU is running at about 50 degrees Celsius at idle with liquid temperature at around the same. At load it will easily hit 75. Also, my 1080 hits 85 degrees while gaming after a while. Are these temps normal? Do you think the CPU cooler causes my GPU to get hotter than normal? My i5 is OCd to 4.2 GHZ. Together with that I am running a GTX 1080 Strix which is overclocked slightly. The Kraken is in the front and acts as an intake, with an exhaust at the rear and top. If this question is totally stupid you may tell me. Hope someone knows the answer !

Hi All Need some advice please regarding connections for Kraken x61 and the supplied PWM Fan Hub in an NZXT H440 with an Asus z170 Pro Gaming Aura MB. What's the best way to connect the fan setup? A: I connect the x61 directly to the CPU_FAN port on the MB then connect the FAN Hub to the CPU_OPT MB port. B: I connect the FAN Hub to the CPU_FAN port on the MB and then the x61 to the CPU_FAN port on the fan hub? Believe in both setups the pump would get a constant supply of power as the x61 connects to a SATA Power lead as well. It gets a little confusing as the case manual says go with option B whereas the x61 manual goes with option A Thanks in advance....

I need some help getting the backplate on, it doesn't seem to be tight enough to hold the cooler even when it's all the way tightened. Is it a bad idea to put some washers on it (that would touch the back of the mobo) or do I need a different cooler?

Hello everyone, I just bould my PC into a Corsair Carbide 400Q and I also bought my first AIO the Kraken X61 from NZXT. For this build I went with a front mounted radiator config in a pull configuration. The Dustfilter in the front doesn't fit that well now that I have a 280mm radiator installed. Id I'd take out the four screws in the middle of the radiator and only use the four outer screws it would fit much nicer. Do you think this is the right way to go? Maybe I did something wrong with it. Just tell me =) Thanks for helping me out.

Hello all! Today I am writing this thread about the noise that my Kraken x61 is making on 100% fan speed. Needless to say, it's REALLY LOUD. I live in an all tile house about 3500 SQ FT and the noise can be heard about 25 feet away. If I change the fans on the kraken to something different like Noctua/Corsair will the cooling performance be the same? How much quieter will it actually be? Is the noise reduction worth the money? Feel free to recommend fans to use. If there will be any issues with the CAM drivers please let me know. Thanks! -Dr_Pleeper

Hi there, I'm kinda confused I'm running a stress test with Aida right now with my kraken at full speed and I'm looking at my cam software and it says my liquid temp is 36C and then my current CPU temp is 24C and 35C on each socket. Do I need to reapply thermal paste or is my kraken working properly? I just never thought your liquid was suppose to be warmer than you CPU or the same temp as your sockets...
-
I saw a sticker on the kraken x61 is there any proper way to setup or just do I plug everything in then turn it on?
-
I'm doing a stress test at the moment with my amd fx 8320 overclocked to 4.2 ghz and using aida64. I'm monitoring the temps through the cam software as well as through aida its self. The temps are looking great so I will probably try overclocking to 4.4 ghz next after rendering some games. The temps are, CPU 34C 100% load GPU 40C 0% load Motherboard 36C Kraken Liquid Temperature 37C 76% fan speed I guess my question is is it normal that the liquid temperature is so close in number to my CPU since I'm able to keep the temps so low? Or should I render some games as well and see if there's any change in those numbers? Or should I repaste the pump if you don't think it seems to be running properly? PC Specs: Case: NZXT s340 CPU: AMD fx 8320 OC to 4.2 ghz at the moment GPU: Asus strix gtx 980 4gb Mobo: MSI gaming 970 motherboard Liquid CPU cooler: Kraken X61 RAM: Corsair Vengeance 2x8Gb PSU: EVGA Supernova 650W G1 My kraken is in performance mode as well as my s340 fans being turned all the way up.

Does anyone know if the Kraken x61 requires the CAM software, or if it just gives added functionality? Reason i ask is i would like to install the Kraken in a system that is dual booted between Windows 8.1 and Ubuntu, and the cooler is no good to me if the software is required as there is no linux port. thanks!

[i apologize for the bad English as I am from Italy] Okay so I recently built my new gaming pc but ran into some trouble with connecting the fans to the included pwm fan hub and plugging it into the motherboard. The situation is this: - Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VIII Hero - CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X61 - Fans: 3x120mm fans in the front (3 pin) 1x140mm fan in the back (3 pin) 2x140mm radiator fans (4 pin) - PWM Fan Hub included in the case The issue came up because the water pump was making continuous noise and it was quite annoying especially because the 6 fans don't make almost any noise and I can clearly hear the sound coming from the water pump over all the other fans. I checked the NZXT website and they say this: I checked the BIOS but I can't find any CPU fan voltage setting (BIOS updated to the latest version). This problem made me reconsider how I wired up all the fans and the fan hub so here I am asking for a little help. So of course in the W_PUMP I plugged the water pump, then in the CPU_FAN I plugged one of the two 140mm pwm radiator fans that came with the Kraken X61. Now for the interesting part: the manual of the Noctis 450 says that you should plug the cpu fan to the pwm fan hub and plug the fan hub into the cpu fan header on the motherboard; so I plugged the second 140mm pwm radiator fan into the pwm fan hub and the fan hub itself into the CPU_OPT fan header on the motherboard. I then plugged all the other fans into the pwm fan hub. Here's the picture of the fan hub itself. The white fan header is where you should plug the cpu fan like I mentioned above. The cable to power the pump (SATA) also has these 4 pin fan headers attached to it but I didn't plug any fan into them. What would be the best configuration? Did I do anything wrong? Where is the fan voltage option in the BIOS? Any help or advice is appreciated, please let me know if you need more details! Thanks to everyone

Hi, I have an i7-5820K overclocked to 4.5GHz (but for some reason only runs at 4.46GHz) and to cool it a kraken x61 liquid cooler. I have been monitoring the temperatures in the Cam software as well as in CPUID HWMonitor. At idle with the kraken set at 100% fan speed (Manual mode) it says my CPU temp is 34C and liquid temp is 33C. When I check HWMonitor it says my CPU package temp is 38-40C and the individual cores jump between 31-37C. If this is my system at idle are these temps good for the kraken x61 running at 100%? Also when I ran AIDA64 my temps per core jump between 52-82C and the max CPU package temp at 86C. Again is that a good temperature for the CPU and is my cooling system working as it should, or should it be lower? Thank

So I saw a video online with some people putting a Nepton 280L in the top of the MasterCase Pro 5. The Cooler Master Site says that the top mounting allows a 240mm radiator. They fit a 280mm radiator there. So my question is, if they fit the Nepton 280L in the top, will a Kraken X61 or a H110i GTX fit in the top?

So i have ordered a Kraken x61 for my new build in my NZXT s340 case, along with some Thermelake Riing SP fans. I know that it will fit in the case with the fans toward the front of the case and radiator behind them, but i would like the radiator in the front with fans closer to the inside in a pull config, so you can see the LED lit ring on the fans from the window, If that makes since. I have done some research in how to mount the radiator in this way, but found nothing but the known "fans in front and radiator behind" with a few posts/videos stating that because of the USB, Power LED, ect ect,on the case that you can't mount the radiator in front because of the wires that are in the way. So to conclude, i need some help with getting the x61 mounted the way i like, and if anyone has any experience with this or even some ideas on how to get it in there, it would be greatly appreciated Thank you

So, this is not only my first pc and build ever, but this is my first post ever. For the past 2 to 4 months, i've been looking into building a pc and now I want to be checked, to see if there's anything I'm missing. ANYTHING. Clearance issues, possibly better options, incompatibility. PC part picker says I'm good on compatibility, no issues, but still. I'm not are how to list all the parts all fancy so here's a link to my build that hopefully will work. If not, I'm including a picture of it below somewhere. Link: My Custom Build As you'll be able to see, somehow, I'm going over the top. I'm aware I'm going over the top. I want to. I do content creation, so I want more than a quad core, even though a quad core would do, I'm sure. I come from duo core 8 gig's of memory MacBooks, so you should understand why I want 32 gb of ram. Over the top, yes, but I'd like to be able to have premiere, after effects, and a web browser open all at the same time. I watched Linus's video on ram usage in adobe cc and 32 gb was where nothing past that helped. Also, I'm waiting on getting peripherals. More money, yes, but I'm focused on this right now and I have peripherals already that will hold me over till my next purchase. thy'll be bottlenecks, but oh well. Anyway, my preferences, CPU: I suppose I'd like to stay with intel for cpu. I believe i got the best bang for the buck on that cpu. MOBO: I'd be interested in seeing other mobo's that fit the kind of black and white color scheme, but if not, then the asus x99 deluxe is what I'm going for. GPU: I'd like the classified evga, yet they're not in stock as much as the standard ax 2.0, and I know all I have to do is OC if I really want to. I've researched gpu's and found I want evga, cause gigabyte's has coil whine and the strip is red, big and has a pulsing led that can't be set to off or always on. RAM: I would have gone for the dominator platinum for aesthetics, but the 32 gb setup is so expensiiivvve! So the black hyperX is okay. And going above 2400 is unnecessary since the 5820k doesn't even support 2400, and that's why Ive chosen the 2133 speed. SSD: I like samsung, because they have the fastest speeds. I'd like to go up in amount of storage, but I'm still trying to save a little money, so 128 gb for the OS. HDD: 2tb wd green is enough for me, see any better deals, let me know. I like that t's eco-friendly and cheap. PSU: I was originally going to get the superNOVA 750g2, but I don't think I'll do sli, and I need to save a little money, so I went with the 650w version. If there's a better option with a fanless mode, i'm all ears. People don't like the corsair rm series because they're overpriced. I was looking into those initially, but I went evga. CASE: Fractal r5, good case. I have looked at other cases, and I don't want a case that looks like something from portal, like nzxt's phantom series. My main choices were the fractal r5 or the h440. The h440 and h630 are really the only nzxt cases I like in their price bracket. I just chose the r5 because It's a mid tower with drive cages, because i'll actually use the optical drive I'm getting. I hope. And the h440 doesn't have drive cages, yet the h630 is too big. Oh and if there's anything better I have found, I like it went there's a door that covers the fans and the drive slots. CPU COOLER: I just about got the h100i gtx until i saw that it was dual 120mm. So I chose the kraken x61. OS: I've heard I can get an os cheaper by downloading but if I need a pc to download it, it won't happen. My house only has macs. Other questions I have: I would like an opinion on case color. I was really considering getting a white r5 or if I don't actually get a drive, then the white h440. I'm getting a case with a window, so the matching matters, whether it be the black or the white to match my x99 deluxe. From experience, does anyone use drives anymore? I want one because I wouldn't want my computer to be handicapped in some way. I still buy cd's, so I was going to use it for that, and movies, since I plan to get an ultra wide monitor in the future, cause no black bars. But, if I don't get a drive, then I can opt for the h440 depending on how things match. What all does everyone actually put on their boot drive? I know they put their OS on it, but other than that, is it used for games, applications? I've heard you use applications on it, so in that case, would I need a 256gb ssd? Does anyone know if I'll actually like windows coming from a mac all my life? I know quite a bit about macs and have gone from iPhone to android, so if it's like a breath of fresh air, let me know. I know macs are restricted and windows is more open, but give me a little background. I use windows at school and I'm ok with it. However, if i do hate it, I'm sure i can live with it. Stay with me here on this one, I've never owned a pc, but if I'm correct, when the kraken pulls air through the rad, it will be enough for the acx cooler on the gpu, right? If I get the r5, then I don't want to take off any of the fan covers from the top because it would look weird. I know the h440 has better mounting options on the top aesthetically, and If i wanted to, I could mount another fan on the bottom next to the psu for more airflow, but still. gimme opinions. My bad for any typos, my laptop wants to correct acronyms that are already correct. Thanks for reading and sticking with me. Other than all that's above, if there are any extra tips you might have, please. Tell me. I've done my research. Thanks
