I don't know exactly where to post this, so feel free to correct me, after reading the entire plan I plan on taking my Chromebook out of it's case and putting it into a PC case, but will run into a few problems. I have posted elsewhere about one, but the rest will be more challenging to find a spot, and more might be found. I want to be able to run open office and other PC programs, but don't want to buy windows, so maybe Linux, but I have never used Linux, so problem one, how do I instal linux. Problem two, I want to overclock it so it will run faster, but don't know how. Heat won't be a problem, I can put a big heat sink and fans to cool it. I also plan on putting in an hard drive, but will need a SATA to USB C adapter. Any suggestions on a good one would be great. I will be powering the Chromebook and drive off of a PSU which is the problem I have in another post. I plan on using the IO daughter board, but don't anticipate any problems from it. The IO on the main board is going to be used for the hard drive and maybe a disk drive because I want one. Don't ask for a specific use, because I don't have one, just general purpose without having to use my new laptop once I get it. This project won't happen for a little while, but I like to know exactly what I will be doing ahead of time. This is my Chromebook: HP 11A G6 EE

Budget (including currency): $3500.00 USD could be more roughly the price of the components PC build only Country: USA Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: any games or video editing we can muster in the future 5-10 years of our YouTube channel,8K resolution, you can't crash this,by typical workflow means and more,12K&16k,all the triumph and all a PC build will ever be before we all start to get server computers like Linus just technology flies when it's having fun evolving!!!!!!!!!!.......... Open For Changes or ideas as I'm not the smartest individual 1. Budget & Location Budget: It cost what It cost, nah but really don't really have a set budget. Location: Sweden. 2. Aim The system Is mainly going to be used to play games and maybe be used to streaming or YouTube If I get into that. 3. Monitors 240hz 1440p Like the Ide of having an ultrawide for the main gaming like the g9 neo due to Its colours and lighting zones as i want a good monitor that will have good blacks and I only find 144hz monitor Oled and I don't like the risk of burn In nor 144hz. I will use my old monitor for like discord and other small stuff but I can go for more monitors as long as they look good 4. Peripherals Only need a new keyboard due to the current one is a budget one. 5. Why are you upgrading? Reason I'm upgrading to this insane level Is due to that my pc is old af and I'm annoyed at always playing games at low frames and lowest quality, and I'm building a high end one due to not need to upgrade in a while so I can keep the pc for a few years and It still be able to play games with good frames and looks. Note Graphics card: Asus geforce rtx 3080 ti 12gb strix gaming oc is already bought for the system aswell is the PSU PcPartPicker https://pcpartpicker.com/user/TheNewNoobie/saved/sMJfdC List of parts for people that don't like links. Hello, Around 1 week ago my games began to stutter and freeze from time to time for no apparent reason, it has only been getting worse. The thing is, I did not change anything in my system and it played games just fine, (Games such as GTAV and Overwatch have been affected the most). My current components: AMSI B150M Pro vdh Corsair LPX 2666Mhz 8GB Intel i5 6600k EVGA GTX1070 SC Zotac 120GB SSD Toshiba DT01ACA100 1TB HDD Samsung HD105SI 1TB HDD I suspect one of my HDD is dying, though the games are installed in the good health drive. Windows is installed in the SSD. The only thing I am aware changed is that I updated the GPU driver through GeForce Experience, once I noticed the issue i rolled the driver back but the issue remained. Please help me, I am going insane.

Hello again! After few years I'm back with crazy plans! My last build Project [No Name] was successful in parts that I needed. This time I'm going to use the same chassis except ramping it up a notch. Plan is to get SLI, full custom loop watercooling with two 240mm rads, matx size motherboard into my case that is measured from outside W 315mm x L 389mm x H 168mm. Question is that has anyone seen this kind of configuration with these dimensions? If you have any questions, please ask and I will try to answer them UPDATE: matx MB has changed to full ATX board!

Hello, I was looking at an insane ultrawide setup of 3 Predator x34 monitors and I was wondering, How much GPU power do you need to run games at 10320x1440. I haven't found any benchmarks of that resolution but if I wanted to play crysis 3 at that resolution what would I need in terms of hardware to achieve 60+ FPS? Would any setup today even be able to play games at this resolution on high/ultra settings? Thanks in advance for any answers you can give.

Alright so i've had this processor for a long time like 3-4 years not really sure. Anyways lately and by lately i mean like around half a year ago my processor started literally "boiling" On speccy it says that i have 96-97 °C when just playing rocket league, when i'm in desktop or browser like right now i get like 43°C I only have stock cooler, it is fairly clean, termal paste applied like 2 months ago i can't really see it affecting temps that much if i didn't renew it in 2 months Or Should i just get an aftermarket cooler like 212 evo or something like that -If so please recommend me a fairly "budget" aftermarket cooler for that chipset Or should i even get a mid range water cooling like arctic cooling liquid freezer 120 which in my country goes for around 60$ Thanks in advance.

Foreword: I realize this is incredibly impractical and insane, but I want to see how many holes y'all can poke in this idea to see just how impossible it is. PCPartPicker: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/2dG7LD Note that PCPartPicker has some misinformation about the processor, thinking it's incompatible with the mobo, googling revealed otherwise The specs given to each VM are as follows: 8 GBs of RAM 4 Cores 2 TBs of storage One nVidia GTX Titan X The idea was to build "16 gamers one rack", but to do so I found some obstacles (here are the ones I've at least partially tackled): 1q: How do you fit 16 GPUs in a chassis? 1a: Short answer is to seperate them see this to understand what exactly I mean 2q: How do you connect 16 GPUs? There's only so many slots! 2a: Backplanes! (Although it does mean chopping bandwidth, which I'm still trying to figure out) 3q: How do you get so many processors/threads for vms? 3a: Go dual sockets with xeon processors, lots of processors/threads! 4q: How do you get each user USB connections? 4a: Use a hub or dock Some issues I haven't dealt with: Graphics card bandwidth USB/IO Bandwidth Hypervisors may not be able to see the GPUs and thus may not be able to assign them to VMs Storage interfaces (enough IO and ports?) Edit was to make the title more accurate

Hello people! So my brother came to visit. We are trying to find an FPS game (play with each other) free to play. Some people suggested some games in Steam I have never had steam before. So me and my brother made an account installed Steam software. Next step was to be friend in steam so we can find each other and play together. This is the crazy insane Steam respond!!!! I have to pay 5$ to be able to be friend ........

About a year ago I bought an Rx 480 8 GB Red Devil. The packaging was nice and I scored it with a good deal. I was happy and excited! A week later I received the card and through it in my system, yeet! Not literally... sadly. The system I used with the 480 was an AMD-FM-4350 Quad Core @ 4.20 GHz. That paired with a decent Mobo, a solid state and an overqualified 750-watt power supply meant we were ready. I started with a Unigene Heaven Benchmark at 1080 with 0x at ultra. We got 43 FPS... I wasn't quite sure what to expect so I thought that was good. I booted up a game and the FPS tanked. I then booted up Minecraft as its graphics are relatively plain. The FPS also tanked along with tearable screen tearing. I used the drivers from the included disk which had an update once installed. (yes I am running windows 10) So I find myself stuck and I have two theories. One: I have configured the Card wrong? Two: My CPU is throttling? Some suggestions on what to try for fixing this would be great so we can get back to those smooth frames... Thank you in advance?

scratch built Roisin Dearg (a Scratch Built "Modular" Case)
Lady Fitzgerald posted a topic in Build Logs
A little over a year and a half ago, I started working on a case for a new computer to replace my aging one. Unfortunately, I ran into frequent delays due to life happening (including my toilet falling through the floor while I was taking care of business, blowing out my back) and various health issues (being a handicapped, flatulent geriatric doesn't help any). I'm finally getting back to work on the thing, which has become a higher priority since the aforementioned aging computer just died (trying to do anything I had been doing on the late desktop machine, other than web surfing, on my little notebook ranges from being a total pain to completely impossible). The name of the new computer is Roisin Dearg (roe-sheen dare-ug), which is Irish Gaelic for Red Rose (actually, Rose Red). To hopefully make this the last case I ever need to build (I'm too old for this kind of stuff anymore), I'm making it as modular as possible so I can just swap out, add, or remove portions of it as technology or my mind changes instead of tearing down the machine so I can do major surgery on the case or have to build a new one. To achieve this, the MOBO tray is removable. The case has 14 5.25" bays I can put in things like an optical drive (don't laugh, I still use ODDs for ripping optical discs), a switch panel, the front panel I/O, various hot swap bays, my SSD cages (I've switched over to all SSDs), storage drawers for small items like USB sticks), and anything else I may happen to want or need. Whenever practical, I'm "stealthing" the 5.25" devices for a cleaner look. The frame is made from 80/20 aluminum extrusions. The top, front, and two side panels are held on by magnets for a cleaner look. While the frame and inner panels will be all satin black, the top, front, and two side panels will be covered with a highly figured Anigre wood veneer. I'll make most of the power cables myself but they won't be individually sleeved; I prefer to hide my cables as much as possible. The left side panel will have a small, tempered glass window. Also, since I live in the dusty Phoenix, AZ area and live in a mobile home that isn't exactly dust proof, I've designed the case to take a 10" x 20" pleated paper air filter which fits in the floor of the case. There are eight 120mm fans for pulling air through the filter and four exhaust fans, one in the back and three on top. I will also be putting sound deadening foam inside the case. I have it in the deceased computer and really makes a difference in the amount of noise the computer puts out. I could barely hear it from two to three feet away at my desk and not at all from further away. I was running a build log over on OCN Forums but their ownership recently changed and the forums were migrated to another platform that makes posting photos a royal pain in the neck (actually, the pain is about two feet lower). Since migrating everything there over to here would be a massive undertaking I just don't feel up to doing, here a couple of links to what I have already over on OCN: http://www.overclock.net/forum/15-case-mods/1602023-preparing-scratch-built-case.html http://www.overclock.net/forum/15-case-mods/1632464-roisin-dearg-scratch-built-case-part-2-preparing-scratch-built-case.html I've been ready to paint the various panels of the build and the frame for quite some time but every time my health was behaving, the weather wasn't. Today, health and weather cooperated although I had a pretty narrow window to get the painting done before it got too hot so I was able to get all the panels painted today. Hopefully, I'll get the frame painted Saturday or Sunday, depending on the weather. Anyroad, here are some shots of what it looked like today after I finished painting: I managed to get all the panels back into the house and everything put away before dark. Right now, my tired hurts (along with the rest of my carcass) and I'll probably hibernate all day tomorrow. -
Like the title says been saving up for this thing since I saw the video. Got enough money now hopefully but still waiting for its release. Some Googling tells me that it is delayed but not till when does someone know when?

I was on pcpartpicker looking at GPU's when I saw a $15 Gtx 970. Naturally I screenshot red everything. It may just be a glitch. It was $15 for five minutes, now it says out of stock and is normal price. See the attaché pictures.

Ok, so I have a ballin idea that I would like to try eventually (if it's even possible). I plan to become a YouTuber one day, so I've been thinking about my needs(honestly, they are just wants, lol) if I were to do so. One PC for editing/rendering One PC for recording One PC for personal use The TV I currently use for my consoles Plus some miscellaneous things like LED light strips Now the hope is, that I can set up some sort of system where I can just press a button or verify my identity via biometrics and have everything connected to that, power on. What I would like to know is, is it even possible? If so, how would I accomplish it? Thank you in advance for anything you guys can provide.

I've never winced or cringed as much as I did watching this than any other LMG video! I really hope those mounts hurry up, for the sake of the very expensive motherboard and CPUs!

This is sourced from both there site and tech talk #71 hosted by JayzTwoCentz & Barnnacules This service will basically allow you to have high end hardware available over the internet. That is updated to the latest standard as they become available within your package all for a reasonable price. This only requires a 5 mbps to get 90 fps at 1080. I believe if this is successful it will be awesome. I will post the time stamps of the Tek Talk were they were discussing it. If I remember I will link Jay's and Jerry's Video when they go up! Jay and Jerry start talking about it #1 Jay clarifies a couple of things from comments he receives from both the viewers and the company #2, #3, #4 Leap Computing's website Barnnacules video (when he makes one if he does) feel free to leave your comments on this i think if they pull it off it will be amazing!
