Hello everyone! I am knew to this forum, but not to the tech community. I'm looking to effectively save all the BIOS settings onto a USB. There is not an update or anything of the sort that I will be doing to the BIOS, I would just like to know if anyone knows of a way to just save the BIOS settings to a USB? I am trying to save the BIOS settings to make restoring an image using clonezilla onto a new computer a much quicker process. Any help on this conundrum would be absolutely fantastic, I've been racking my brain for days! Thank you in advance! P.S(Unfortunately, I cannot give any detailed information about the computer itself or hardware, as I am under an NDA by my company)

I just want to talk about the idiocy the phone industry is shifting towards. Let me start this off with with the fact that I'm a big man. 192cm to be exact. With appropriately sized hands and head for this height. Right now I own a Sony XA2 but next year I'll have to replace it as it started to age. Screen size is good, and I don't have a hard time reaching all of it with one hand. When squating it is only mildly inconvenient when I wear tighter denim pants. In a phone call I can only put the upper part on my ear with the rest of the phone not touching my face and the microphone picks up even my whispers. I have tried for a few days a moto g9, with the big ass distorted aspect ratio. Leaving the build quality aside as it is a lower end phone than my Sony, it was a nightmare to use. Very hard to handle with one hand, it was stabbing my leg while in pocket even with loose shorts, an I had to keep it rammed im my face for the microphone to be in it's effective range. I can only assume it gets worse for shorter people. An 18:9 aspect ratio I assume would be okay for me, but it seems even that is considered now "too short" and 20:9 started being mainstream.

I feel like I've seen a video on this question on YouTube somewhere. Might even be Linus. But now I'm suddenly really interested in this question but can't come up with the right search terms to find the answer to my question. Also, it'd be a good idea for a video of LTT, if there isn't one already. Get the test rig, install TitanX No. 1, run Benchmarks, shut the system down for an hour, install No. 2, and so on. You know your stuff, LTT.

Well I would like to apologize for posting this topic in this forum but I have not slept since yesterday and I am very tired but I suddenly I got this itch I need to scratch (learning about the costs involved for making your own GPU production like GALAX,PALIT and other brands do ) Unfortunately (and maybe on account of being a zombie right now ) on a quick google search with relevant keywords that I could imagine I couldn't find anything ... And I decided to post here because this is the only forum I could think of that MAY have people that would know some insider stuff about those brands.. the only one that I already had an account that is so I wouldn't need to register (cause of my laziness being a full day without sleep) So yea I would like to know whats the scheme for becoming a partner of those companies in order to just get a license to manufacture graphics cards using their PCB design and GPUs (like small companies and big ones do e.g ASUS/EVGA/3dColor/Zontac/Colorful/abit etc) First of all is it possible if you have the cash to do that or is it like a closed circle where no stranger is allowed to get in(I mean in practice I suppose its illegal not to allow people getting a license while having given licenses to so many other companies) ? Is it like a fixed price followed by a fee for each sold card? or does it depend solely on volume of sales? Any rough educated guesstimates on what kind of money we are talking ? (other than " a lot") Also what would the minimum cost of making a small fab solely for constructing graphics cards be? Like the cost for the machine that solders the parts on the PCB and stuff like that. I hope that I will find some informative responses when I wake up in about~ 10 hours from now and I thank you in advance.

Hey everyone. I want to ask a few questions about something that I have to get sorted for university pretty soon, and would like input/opinions. I'm currently studying as a Computing and Games Development student (1st year). In-between my 2nd and final year, I have to do a 1-year placement that is relevant for my course - in my case, games development. I've been told that I don't have to think too much into it until my second year, but I still have some questions, which if possible would like your input on. After looking at the sheet provided to me by my university, there are only around 10 companies in the UK that have offered placement in the past to students at the university and course I attend. As such I've been thinking about widening my search and was curious of the following: Would it be possible to do placements outside of the UK? if so, how would I go about that? Would I have to contact companies directly or go through my university? (I say this as nearly everything they provide is UK based) Would I have to get a student visa (if needed)? Finance and living, how would I arrange something like that when I'm from a different country? If so, what companies/places would you say would be the best to ask/look for placements? Basically, I have a lot of questions on my mind, and I don't really know where to start - so any help would be really appreciated. Thanks for reading.

Recently, one thing really itched me. 480 and 1060's performance comparison. Whatever it is 1060, the latest and cheapest Pascal defeated Polaris' best bet at this time. Minimum 30% is getting factored in every time( excluding Editing performance). Even Raja Koduri couldn't save AMD's Radeon Team. Cutthroat question. What's wrong with AMD? It gives us something new after a significant gap of time and still not so thrilled it makes us. It's not only about GPU or FPS or Overclocking facts. Simple. Red or Green. To you, who holds more value and regards according to your preference based on vastness? Nvidia has mastered the graphical thoughts over the years but AMD is still meh (Though count me as one of team RED) but AMD concentrates on many stuffs at a time and handles both players.Intel and Nvidia. Articulation is Nvidia and Intel's domain but AMD is running both of the sector. Sometimes people think reddish(ly) based on 'lets try'. What do you think?

This is an elaborated topic, generically. The purpose is to gather knowledgen extensively. Who make the main components or the electrical parts on the PCB of GPUs (asking from Firepro/Quadro to HD 5450/Geforce210)? Like the Capacitors, IC, V-RAM, Controllers, RAMDAC, Bus e.t.c. Quality control is another concern too. Like Nvidia doesn't care 1000 or 900 like their high end Quadro series. Asking this because I recently judged two self-contradictory things(completely my opinion). Firstly, Strix of ASUS uses high quality stuffs while others like Sapphire or Zotac in GTX 950 probably didn't put parts that up to mark things which can resist anti forces up to some points. Though I am not sure about it at all. I have seen people are selling more Strix cards than Zotac, EVGA or MSI but somehow I realised that in this year ASUS dealt with it's RX 460 with good things but lagged in performance even to a year old 950. This is a sure thing to abhor. On the other hand, 950 really attracts many wallets because of P2P (price to performance). Vexing bafflement! I am not biased with either companies. Thinking about spending father's money in a more efficient way. The partners' cards can't be the best because nobody will buy for a long time then. 'Malfunctioning? Let's change.' Sorry for my poor wits. I want to know these things by our upcoming conversations.. (If my queries are not clear enough, please ask me)

Blade Server = apart of a larger unit with special internal connectivity between each blade. Rack Server = Standard server with rack mounts fits standard Unit sizing 1u,2u,3u,4u,etc… Tower Server = Server in a tower cassis, similar to desktops just larger in overall size. Raid = Redundant Array of (Inexpensive\Independent) Disks Raid0 = striping data written to both disks without parity for speed. Raid1 = mirroring same data written to both disks for fault tolerance of 1 disk Raid 5 = minimum 3 disks with fault tolerance of 1 disk typical 2x speed of reads (common practice is to not use this raid level) Raid 6 = minimum 4 disks with fault tolerance of 2 disks. Typical 2x speed of reads. Raid 10 = minimum 4 disks with fault tolerance of 1 disk. Typical 4x read and 2x write speeds ZFS file system and freenas give you access to RaidZ these are simplified in RAIDZ is speed RAIDZ1 is 1 drive tolerance RAIDZ2 is 2 drive tolerance, So on and so forth. Generally speaking, freenas uses software raid and while standard raid is hardware based. Rack’s, Server racks are 19” wide. 1U is 1.75” and common sizes are half and full racks, half being 24u and full being 42u (yes I am aware of 24 not being half of 42).

Hey guys, so next semester (winter) I'll have to go for a college or university outside my country or an internship in a company. I decided to gather the most amount of experience by doing the thing that I'm actually really passionate about, that is, to go for an internship in a games company. By the way, I'm german and I study at the HSHL in Lippstadt. I want to ask you: Do you have experience in creating portfolios in this particular field or do you have some ideas to feed my inspiration? I already started to create a portfolio which shows my experienc in arts, 3D modeling, texturing, and so on. But as I advance something tells me there is something not quite right in my design, therefore I tend to recreate everything and start from scratch which is a bit frustrating. Do you have some thoughts on this as well?

I am working in an IT-Company and we have girls day coming up. Basically the purpose of this supposedly is to fascinate 14-old girls for working in the IT-industry. They will be at our company for about 4 hours and we need to come up with some kind of mixture of entertainment and technology. The ideas that came up were: Give each one a computer, put a switch in the middle and let them build a network and do a pong tournament in the end. Or get a few raspberry Pi's and do some simple web server/homepage creation. In the end we all agreed that this weren't the greatest of ideas, so now I'm here, asking you for your crazy, creative ideas. GO!

Apple sold 74.5 million iPhones last quarter Got profits? Cause Apple clearly does, by the boatload in fact. I am surprised that Samsung took such a nosedive but they have been facing a lot of pressure on all sides and in my honest opinion their products for the last year or so have been remarkably lacklustre and...sometimes even bad. They haven't bothered to react to a shifting landscape and they've forgotten the cardinal rule: You're not Apple so stop trying to sell like them. Apple could literally market 1980s brick phone to us and succeed, they've got the real life equivalent of the Mad Men cast working in their marketing department. Samsung? Not as much. They should've seen the signs that people were moving away from expensive off contract devices and towards sub 400 dollar off contract/free on contract ones. They might be in decent shape if they had products that were flagship class but not at 800-1000 dollars, but the issues there are Samsung just makes too much stuff all over the place. Its absurd the amount of devices they push out on a yearly basis. Can't imagine what their mobile division blows through in development on a year basis for all those product lines. http://uk.businessinsider.com/apple-is-taking-93-of-the-profits-in-the-smartphone-industry-now-2015-2 http://bgr.com/2015/02/26/iphone-vs-android-profits-q4-2014/

My dad (who is an audiophile and has been for decades, and also is a music promoter for a living and was also in a band) just said to me that beats headphones were good, despite being a sworn senhiser customer for years. I don't really know what to say. Sure I was guilty of liking razer headphones for a while, but I realized the error of my ways as soon as I tried my friend's pair. But that was different. I'm very new to the audio scene and I liked the look of the striking green and black design. However, my dad is part of the music industry and loves everything about it so surely he should know better? Anyway, this was really just one of those "What has the world come to" kind of posts, so sorry if you came here looking for an interesting and thought provoking topic Thanks -Billy

Just to give you some background on my situation, I'm a Computer Systems Officer at my states Fire Service, we are currently the only fire service in the country that completely self-manage everything and that aren't managed by the Country Fire Authority. We are in the process of merging all corporate services (such as IT/finance/Information and records/etc.) with the state Police to create an "all in one emergency services" fleet to make things run more efficiently. Currently we are hosting our own exchange servers but are being forced to move to a "whole of government solution", so basically we have to pay someone else to host the things we have been hosting for the last 10 years for free (minus server licenses)... Awesome, our budget was already small enough. In moving to this new whole of government service we are having to scrap "Public Folders", a way in which we would host calendars used across the state simply because yes, they can host that for us but they are unsure on how to bill it. Fun times, we have to attempt to migrate an entire states worth of data from one place to another because we are being forced to have our stuff hosted by someone else that doesn't know how to charge us for services so instead says we can't have them. I started the migration yesterday and ended up working overtime, leaving work at approximately 11pm (12 1/2 hour day), only to come into work this morning and have people calling up asking why they can no longer get to the calendars they usually look at. In this entire process multiple e-mails have been sent to all users explaining what is happening and how it affects them (keep in mind this was all written in "user language" and not tech "mumbojumbo"). I even had a guy call up and try to abuse me over the phone due to "his stuff isn't there anymore", after showing him where the new calendar with all the old calendar data is he stated "its still not f****** there!" to which i checked all his log files, he was using an entirely different calendar to what he originally stated... the joy. I need advice on how to talk to some of these users who ring up and abuse people because they f***ed up and havn't read any of the high urgency marked emails, i'm not entirely sure on how to exactly word why we had to do it due it being more "IT talk" orientated. halp
